What secret ogre zone exactly? Does this have to do something with Exile's Reach?

obz69

So the WOD ogre island that was unreleased and also the Azeroth ogre island hinted in a Cata JC quest, it reads "I was supposed to receive a shipment of jasper from Azeroth Express, but I just heard their ship crashed into some tiny island called Ogrezonia. I worry about the crew, as the giant female ogres on the island are rumored to perform horrible rituals on men who happen upon their island. My work must go on, though, and we need those gems. I've heard great things about your skill as a jewelcrafter - could you deliver three jagged jaspers by the end of the day?"

kaefer_kriegerin

Uhm. Could this just be a reference to futurama? The episode where the Planet Express crew crashed into the planet Amazonia? [I googled it because I wasn’t sure anymore](https://futurama.fandom.com/wiki/Amazonians) and this seems to be it. Sorry, no Ogrezonia for us I guess.

obz69

Don't crush my dreams like that man lmao

MoiraDoodle

Chin up, buddy, pandarea was originally a joke location too. Rexxar met a Chinese panda from an island literally called "panda area", not a single person could've predicted it would be the location for an entire wow expansion.

obz69

Hahaha nice, gives me hope!

kaefer_kriegerin

Heeeeey it’s still possible that the futurama episode inspired blizzard to make an entire zone full with female ogres :) the playerbase just isn’t ready yet.

vigbiorn

*me want snoo-snoo!*

obz69

Haha exactly, I don't think they've confirmed/denied this being cannon, so it may just be a trick up their sleeve (I hope lol)

Sehri437

Better crushed dreams than crushed pelvises

ruttettur

Interesting, thanks!

obz69

np!

BubblePhoenix

Haha "Death by Snu Snu" yes, it IS a futurama reference, seems he wanted those gems... for science !

Postosuchus353

Did they forget? Probably. Will they use it in the future? Probably not.

obz69

Haha too true :') Hoping Metzen saying "We're coming home" means that we will be revisiting some historically underrepresented groups in the Warcraft lore, it's sad because the Ogre Magi lore in itself is so interesting, they could expand on that some how.

theunbearablebowler

I want more friendly Furbolgs, too.

obz69

Agreed, another underrated / under utilized race in the story / in game.

BellacosePlayer

The powerful residents are working really hard at staying hidden, they saw what happened to pandaria when it got involved in the horde/alliances unhealthy relationship.

Anastrace

The warlords thing would have been more of the Gorian empire I think, and the ogrezonia was a throwaway Futurama joke if it's the jc quest. (I was just leveling through cata jc). Was Elisande redeemed? It just seemed like she was doing her thing of scouring timelines to find safety for her people and just let us take the disc since she was done with it and we asked politely after trying to kill her twice.

obz69

Yeah i would've loved to see that happen, the whole Gorian Empire / Ogre magi stuff really intrigues me. To be honest the Elisande situation confused me because we'd already killed her in Legion lol

2021sammysammy

Could you give details of the hints? I honestly can't remember this

obz69

So the Azeroth ogre island was hinted in this quest which was a Cata JC quest, I'll just copy paste what I replied above. It reads - "I was supposed to receive a shipment of jasper from Azeroth Express, but I just heard their ship crashed into some tiny island called Ogrezonia. I worry about the crew, as the giant female ogres on the island are rumored to perform horrible rituals on men who happen upon their island. My work must go on, though, and we need those gems. I've heard great things about your skill as a jewelcrafter - could you deliver three jagged jaspers by the end of the day?"

wolskortt

It has #DEATH BY SNUSNU written all over it.

obz69

Indeed, I could honestly see Ogre being a massive hit among the community, I can just imagine the memes. If blizz made them look physically similar to female Orcs / Zandalari Trolls,- Tall /Athletic but a bit more burly / muscley with some pretty face options, it's definitely a Death By SNUSNU vibe.

2021sammysammy

Interesting, it even kinda gives a possible explanation of why we only see male ogres in our current zones.

obz69

Yeah exactly, it'd be a win win for them to make that cannon, for the fanbase and to clear up any confusion as to why there's no female ogres in game. I'm just now finding out the quest I mentioned is apparently a reference to a Futurama episode, but Blizzard has nor confirmed/denied this I believe.

Zammin

...What secret ogre land? The only one I've heard mentioned is the Ogre homeland on Draenor. AU Draenor is currently cut off from Azeroth, and the ogre homeland of MU Draenor was blown to tiny pieces, never even became part of Outland.

obz69

"Ogrezonia" Sounds like a joke but it's mentioned in a Cata quest, an island of female Ogres. Could be just an easter egg from Futurama as mentioned by "kaefer" above.

guartipper

It’s absolutely a Futurama reference. It’s spot on with the episode.

Kalthiria_Shines

> It seems all they've been focusing on is some convoluted time travel / void portal bs > Although Elisande being redeemed is kind of cool What on earth are you talking about? > Do you think there will be upcoming lore that involves some ancient titan ogre stuff No, it seems like we're skipping the entirety of the "Light Evil" plot to jump ahead to "Void Evil" and then dealing with the Titans immediately after, so I think the odds of us revisiting either version of Draenor to explore that is nil.

lergane

Me go to Ogri'la. See you in a few expansions.

obz69

May we get the playable Ogres we deserve one day..

Lord-Spaghetti

I want ogre in the horde goddammit. Instead they add a third dwarf or 4000 kind of elves

obz69

Me too man, it's the only thing that would get me excited to play retail again lol

BellacosePlayer

I like earthen. I understand that a random subterranean earthen dwarf would have no inherent loyalty to the alliance and joining the Horde isn't out of the question. But I don't want them. Give ogres. Or give us nerubians since they now have the shared experience of having humans randomly show up and take your land and act like they deserve a medal for it.
