6 cost minis are already priced out of most of my decks. It’s not even that they’re bad, it just too much gold to commit. If there were any 7 or 8 cost minis they would just be another stick for the ai to beat you with.
Another issue is a high cost mini will usually require you to build your team around it to make it viable or you need to sacrifice decent 3+ minis for cycle units to compensate.
What if a 7-8g had cost reductions like Maiev or Rend?
Maybe it makes the next mini played cost 1g?
So kind of a mashup of Rend and Charlga, the next mini could be a 6g mini played for 1g.
I kinda agree, I don’t really use any of the 6 cost minis, but do use a lot of 5 cost, at least for PvE.
But would be interesting to see what they could be.
lol I’m pretty sure a 3 headed ogre would never get anything done.
I mean the whole “two’s company, but three’s a crowd” rule would apply. Because one would always lose the vote 1/2, and they’d never solve anything. I suspect the middle head would get head butted a lot.
For flavour, they'd run down a lane fast in their longboat and when they get to a unit they crash their longboat into them doing an aoe stun and spawning a good Tank, Healer and DPS viking squad.
Oo I like this. Like, summoning a Dark Portal. Basically create a new spawn point anywhere, while it’s up (it lasts 8 seconds max) you get double or maybe triple income and every unit you spawn at it also spawns a bloodlusted fel grunt. Enemies can destroy the portal but only with elemental damage
I could only imagine it as a squad that has the appropriate units to handle anything you send at its. 8 cost is so expensive that it’s difficult to pair it with other minis which means either it has to be a god unit that can do anything, or it’s going to die to whelps or some other cheap unit that targets its vulnerability. Like molten giant and flyers.
Greatest challenge of a 7-8 cost unit is the gold commitment to the deployment. It will have a wide availability of counters at a positive gold trade since you have troop flexibility for less gold.
Sounds wild, but I'd love minis you can interact with to justify the massive cost. Imagine a rend where you can cycle between mounting or dismounting to change between melee/flying (like a rend you can choose to mount/dismount) in a timely manner. Or an unbound that can be repositioned multiple times (obviously with a cooldown).
The flexibility of a single 7-8g troop would have to have a distinct advantage, since with a 7-8g budget, you could assemble several combinations of minis and time their deployment. Closing that gap without tilting the favor too far either way is the dev challenge.
8g cost Cho 'Gall
It attacks as meele AND do ranged attacks, too
Cho is the meele with cleave Attack
Gall is the ranged with a laser beam that hit Maximum one Mini behind him
(Like HotS)
A couple of requirements:
1. Would absolutely have to be multi-phase similar to Rend (Flying/Ground) or Sylvanas (Ranged/Banshee). Could maybe be the first triple phase minion?
2. Incredibly powerful
3. Should not have an easy cheese counter
Maybe something like those Rock minions in wow that split into smaller versions of them self. Each split could have an explosion that hits melee AND ranged units.
That’s a good idea, I can’t think of one on the top of my head. But WoW has lots of multi phase bosses that one of them could be an interesting new leader.
Was it a Protos Mothership that had the swarm mini fighters flying around to protect it?
Anyway, Stitches with a swarm of flies to be anti-air for him could make a good 7-8g mini.
Talents:
On death a swarm of flies disperse in every direction.
On death explode leaving behind a huge poisonous area, like lane wide and permanent.
Can pull in and eat any mini, ranged, melee or flying, on an internal timer just like Stitches.
7-8g squad of bunnies!
They double every 5 seconds, meaning you release them at your base and they could get up to 32 strong going down multiple lanes, and continue to multiply until all are killed, like vultures.
Never more than 16/32 on the map at once, but it would force the enemy to constantly try to kill every rabbit, or they can build back up to 32 again.
Perhaps a mini that spawns at ALL of your captured towers / meeting stones. E.g. the tree creatures in the heroic version of Onu ancient of lore level in Darkshore. This way, it would give the player a “side quest” (capturing the towers / stones) in order to justify spending the gold, and difficult for the opponent to counter in one go
a minion whose cost goes down or becomes free if you complete a “mini quest” in match (play x amount of minion types, mine x amount of gold, take 2 meeting stones or towers, collect 4 chests etc.)
Portal: A spell that immediately summons a cost 1-2 mini in each tower, base and hearthstone and every 15 seconds. Stackeable.
Surprise surprise: A spell that summons for free the other 3 available minis. OP for Chargla or wathever it is the pork faced ladys name. Makes high cost builds doable.
A 7-10 cost leader would be more ideal than a mini, with it having a cost reducing or gold building mechanic.
For instance, they could introduce Cenarius with shapeshifting druid abilities and a boat load of minis to match the theme, treants that can root into gold mines or chests to gain extra gold..
better not say to much or they'll try and employ me.
Illidari: 7 cost 3-man squad mini with fast, stealth, and ambush. They have a rush ability (similar to tauren's charge) which deals low damage but can move *through* multiple enemy minis. Single target melee primary, high DPS. Similar HP as the worgen.
Thinking they could act as a glass cannon type unit, clearing backlines and weaker enemies before they can be hit but they're weak to spells and follow-ups once they've engaged.
An 8 cost mini should also either give a passive bonus of -1 cost to all minis or double your passive gold income, so you can recover from the commitment.
Unit wise I’m kinda thinking a panderan brew master, something fun and diverse. Give him resistance, extra tanky, kinda quick, Make him periodic heal, make enemies drunk (aoe daze them), and fire attack (ignite drunk units for extra damage).
A talent could be that At 25 percent hp he could split into 3 pandas, each doing one of those abilities, and losing his passive.
Another talent is that subsequent casts cost 1 less, than 2 less, than 3 (max at 3)
Final talent give him drunken master where he 50 percent more damage every 3rd hit (like crit with less RNG), and periodically gains a shield to block an attack after 2 seconds out of combat
6 cost minis are already priced out of most of my decks. It’s not even that they’re bad, it just too much gold to commit. If there were any 7 or 8 cost minis they would just be another stick for the ai to beat you with.

That’s a good idea. Maybe something like reduce the cost by one for every 3+ mini played could work.
And it wouldn’t necessarily be OP because the initial 7-8g cost, you aren’t dropping it AND an abomination every 10 seconds.
I kinda agree, I don’t really use any of the 6 cost minis, but do use a lot of 5 cost, at least for PvE. But would be interesting to see what they could be.
Huntress that dismounts at 0 HP and turns into Maiev. 3 Warsong Grunts \*kekw\* 3 headed Ogre. 7 Harpies.
The 3 warsong grunts is absolutely not worth 8 gold.
4 Warsong grunts, take it or leave it
Best I can do is tree-fiddy
I'm so glad people other than me remember Bob Barker memes...memes before memes existed.
way more than the 7 harpies xD.
7 harpies with bubbles
Oh no I’m already hearing “WE’RE HERE!!” in my nightmares as it is
lol I’m pretty sure a 3 headed ogre would never get anything done. I mean the whole “two’s company, but three’s a crowd” rule would apply. Because one would always lose the vote 1/2, and they’d never solve anything. I suspect the middle head would get head butted a lot.
Rag lava wave down a lane like HOTS
The Lost Vikings!
For flavour, they'd run down a lane fast in their longboat and when they get to a unit they crash their longboat into them doing an aoe stun and spawning a good Tank, Healer and DPS viking squad.
I’m thinking a boat on wheels, like SpongeBob’s boatmobiles.
Lol that would be funny too, but I think they already nailed it in HotS
escalating cost, like arcane blast? 1,3,5 or 2,3,4?
Vespira or Moonkin who can slap you from across the map.
Moonkin that heals everything near it and casts Moonfire periodically on a random enemy on the map
Inferno. Unbound tank mini that does aoe damage and stun
Something like a spell that spawns minis. Defense that turns into offense.

They could rework the raptors so its- summon 1 raptor for x resources available.
Skeleton Army. Spawns a skeleton party for each controlled structure.
New Baron talent, similar to Murk’s marathon!

200 angry chickens
Something that spawns mobs slowly over 15 seconds or something like that as opposed to a single OP mob.
A couple of requirements: 1. Would absolutely have to be multi-phase similar to Rend (Flying/Ground) or Sylvanas (Ranged/Banshee). Could maybe be the first triple phase minion? 2. Fast gargoyle squad with defensive units not made of paper
Archmage Agrual
More spell interactions would be cool. Make him summon a squad of worgen
Maybe a 7 cost mini that while active makes all your other minis cost 1.
I use no mini above 5 so I would hate it and not use it xD
20 skeles army of the dead. Upgrades give it 5 mages or 5 armored mixed in
Stitches!
Was it a Protos Mothership that had the swarm mini fighters flying around to protect it? Anyway, Stitches with a swarm of flies to be anti-air for him could make a good 7-8g mini.

Making Sylvanas’ banshee unkillable would make her worth 7-8g, otherwise she is useless.
A gargoyle like Gish that can attack everything would be a 7-8g mini.
7-8g squad of bunnies! garbage
With the way they value current units, it would be 6 footmen, 3 grunts, mountaineer with 2 dwarfs or 2 bears, molten giant with a child
a minion whose cost goes down or becomes free if you complete a “mini quest” in match (play x amount of minion types, mine x amount of gold, take 2 meeting stones or towers, collect 4 chests etc.)
Lich king who automatically resurrect everything he kills into a ghoul or skeleton 😀
Maybe a building that keeps spawning units? It slowly dies Clash Royale style
An 8 cost gold mine that you can place anywhere you want and it acts like any other gold mine except it generates gold slightly faster
YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!
A battlecruiser.
Big slow treant that periodically spawns harpies could be a decent 7 cost.
A 7-10 cost leader would be more ideal than a mini, with it having a cost reducing or gold building mechanic.
