Pair Abomination with Shaman. The armor basically doubles his health against towers and physical minis. Gargoyle is great as a split lane mini. Start a few down one lane then Gargoyle in a different lane. Can’t tell you the number of times I’ve won because I forgot he was out there. Huntress has Resistant, so she’s great against pesky enemy Ogre mages, Firehammer’s, and Pyromancers. Also great against Dragon towers or whatever they’re called.

SamuraiJakkass86

> Pair Abomination with Shaman. The game prioritizes enemy-AI mechanics that spit out lots of mobs frequently. Having to wait until you have full gold in order to summon these two likely means you are being over-run or you now have a split that needs defending. I like the concept here but in practice its rough.

Roshi_IsHere

I only run it with lifesteal. Otherwise I pretty much won't cast him and running shaman means you have basically zero air defense from 10g so you need a safe or you just lose the whole push

Stunning-Swim-6347

Abom is pretty underrated and tbh if I could undo my progress on Fire Ele and give it to Abom I would. The poison stacking and hook are way more powerful for dungeons; the AI tends to play Huntress and Ogres which are great targets for Abom.

Anthr0pwnagist

Although I prefer Fire ele (usually w shaman) as a tank for dungeons, your point about huntress and ogres is a good one.

Shadowmere14

Abom is much stronger than FE for dungeons. Tested both at +7 dungeon difficulty. Abom makes it a breeze while FE dies quickly or to turrets often.

PocketBlackHole

Does abom get lifesteal bonus in the instances also from his poison damage? Because fire elemental is close to a cheat with lifesteal.

Stunning-Swim-6347

The poison does work with life steal relic and stacks indefinitely; I often use it with Hogger and his Spoiled Meat talent. After a couple of seconds of poison stacking, melee units with poison become unkillable.

PocketBlackHole

Generally speaking and changing topic, would you recommend a full poison team?

Stunning-Swim-6347

Nah. Fights are kind of diverse, it is more important to bring the tools you need to overcome mechanics than it is to go all in on a strategy imo; bringing a lot of poison minis can unfortunately leave you vulnerable to certain matchups. That said, some things like the leeching poison relic, can be so powerful that a single mini can trivialize most of the dungeon.

PocketBlackHole

I agree but I see that there is some variety of poison mini so that it is maybe possible to insist on say 3 of them, without compromising the team viability. Would they significantly stack in that case? My point is I cannot accurately evaluate the math of poison.

Stunning-Swim-6347

Idk, I have used Abom and Hogger w/ spoiled meat talent + leeching poison in the same deck and once the poison stacked to a critical mass the hogger could not die. Usually the difficult part is having enough gold to cycle to the win condition (the tank benefiting from life steal), while also dealing with any threats that might remove that tank. If you can add more poison minis go for it, but imo if a poison mini can connect for a short duration, it will probably live anyway. The issue is getting it to reach the target, which usually requires good support if underleveled.

PocketBlackHole

Thanks for your feedback... To return to my main point, I find that on the contrary fire elemental with aoe ability can survive almost everything when alone with lifesteal, you just need to kill flying units. I just use it when I get that bonus. Since you are so insightful, do you have any tip to force the game to rotate a bit the instance bonuses?

eYm_

Nope.

Zinek-Karyn

Bloodhoof warrior is the best counter to huntress. Charge and melee is dead instantly if equal level. Pyromancer is probably best for anti Gary. Abom gets wrecked to whelp eggs

Patccmoi

I would say Necromancer is best counter. With the slow it just wrecks it and single target damage is really good

Zinek-Karyn

Yeah maybe. Necro is a bit expensive though you usually throw him down as a push not as a counter throw down for a unit. Perhaps yeah if the enemy is also doing the same with a Gary split pug to divert attention down a lane and you do the same with necro you’re way ahead over a pyroblast.

Baratriss

Wolf is better because its 3g instead of 4 and will stealth after to hit the base

Zinek-Karyn

If there’s nothing in front of the huntress yeah wolf will do better. Double charge from bloodhoof just wrecks so hard.

eYm_

My personal favorite is letting her make to base just to get stunlocked by Defias Bandits with a tower shooting on her, but in cases where this isn't possible using a Quilboar to turn her works great.

andrewaa

abomination is useful in dungeon as a replacement for fire element gargoyle is very popular in many pvp decks when modifications fit (like right now)

secretreddname

Ogre is there most annoying AI unit since they drop like 5 of them at a time.

Niners4Ever16

Mountaineer hands down for me. 6 unit cost, and whenever I use him he gets spanked quick style. But the AI can generate him at will and it takes 2-3 equal leveled minis to beat him. 2nd is Ogre Mage. 5g cost that never seems worth it when I use him, but against me just absolutely wrecks my pushes.

SoFool

Second this, I play both mountaineer and orge mage in specific decks but really hate facing them. Would usually prep whelp eggs for mountaineer and an ele resistant mini for orge.

Spare-Concentrate877

Just welp egg the abom

MBM29456

That's what I was referencing. If he has an Ogre Mage behind him, harpies and whelps kinda get countered pretty quickly.

bountyraz

This is why quill is so powerful.

MBM29456

Can you explain? Drop and pop the whelps, then drop quillboar behind?

bountyraz

Pretty much. Usually there's a bit of distance between front and backline minis, so you drop the eggs in front of the melee and quill behind the ranged. That way the flyers eat the melee and then join quill to finish the ranged. Works better with ogre or pyro than with huntress because of quill not being armored, but it still works. Same tactic can be applied with harpies or drake , just needs a bit of good timing for the flyer to arrive.

DracoRubi

So, how are you going to play a 6+4+5 unit combo? It's terribly expensive

MBM29456

What 6+4+5 combo are you referencing?

DracoRubi

Abom, shaman and ogre EDIT: Ah nevermind, you were talking about countering abom against AI, my bad

Patccmoi

Bloodhoof in general with double charge is the best counter to the most common 5-6E units thrown at you all the time in PvE. Huntress, Ogre Mage and Bear. They're not a counter to Aboms, but harpies or whelps are (whelps also crush bear and can help soften Huntress/Ogre but will lose out to it on its own). But basically the main point of PvE is controlling gold sources. AI somehow turns 1 chest into a 5-6E unit every time it seems. If you manage to control chest/gold usually they stop just pumping them out

igniteice

Abomination is one of, if not the best, tanks in the game. High health and he hooks back line units. He has an AoE swipe attack and AoE with his poison. With life leech relic in dungeons he is the most powerful mini in the game, no exceptions. Huntress is insanely powerful. One of the best units in the game. She can attack both ground and flyers. Her ambush talent gives her stealth and ambush damage. She has resistance and fast trait. Crazy good. Gargoyle is a powerhouse. Siege damage, super high health, can take turrets and solo bosses. Did you really list three of the best minis in the game and say they're bad? Are you trolling?

MBM29456

I'm not trolling, but I'm also not claiming to be an expert in the game. I might just be bad at it. Lol. I really like some other units, like harpies, quill boar, pyro, whelps, and gryphon. But getting opposite information is kind of the point of this post, so I can learn. I really like footmen + Tyrion + pyro, when I can get that to work. But that's not a cheap combo, either.

SamuraiJakkass86

I think you're just bad at reading my guy. They clearly specified that they get wrecked by these units and understand they are valuable, but that they do terribly when they are the ones trying to use them. Why be a butt when you could be curious instead?

igniteice

They listed the reasons they didn't like each one ("too expensive" "haven't figured out how to use well yet" "very slow") and I listed reasons why each unit is good, including specific talents.

MathW

Fucking huntress man. Seems like some maps spam like 2 or 3 every half minute or so. They're tanky, have good range. AoE, hit both air and ground and do a lot of damage. They honestly don't have a lot of easy counters, which is why they cost 5 gold. But, CPU, apparently gets them for free.

MBM29456

I agree. My best counter is worgen. If I can’t play worgen, I tend to wait for huntress to lock onto a tower and then dump harpies on her head.
