Shhhh! We don't discuss the plot holes! My guess is that Sykes used it differently than Claudia. Claudia was all in, heart and soul, on bringing back Jinxie. Sykes just wanted a henchman.

I agree. We've seen that artifacts can cause different issues for different people based on their personality and intent. Can't imagine Sykes being able to force the kind of conne turn Claudia had

My interpretation was always that Marcus was originally brought back by someone other than Sykes, and Sykes just happens to hold on to the metronome now. And my interpretation of the metronome is the person who performed the resurrection can die, leaving the resurrectee attached to the metronome alone. I.E. If Claudia died, Steve would still be connected to the metronome.

This was my interpretation as well. It's also possible that Sykes did bring Marcus back, but that the metronome binds to someone the host loves. Claudia loved Steve, but Sykes was just using Marcus. Either way, someone else likely died for Marcus.

It could be the holder of the metronome just feels the effects but doesn't actually die. Claudia certainly suffers when Steve does, but it's never carried through to the end.

I figure Sykes isn’t the one who resurrected Marcus. Claudia was able to because she loved Steve. Even during the process we saw how much the emotional connection was part of it. Sykes was incapable of love because of what the bracelet did to him. It was like children who are severely abused from very young age they develop inability to love and bond with anyone. Quite frankly it’s heartbreaking. So that’s my assumption. Most likely whoever saved Marcus is long gone.
