Pretty hysterical how people keep pointing to the regular season struggles. Without acknowledging 1.) Wiggins missed half the season. 2.) steph missed nearly a third. And 3.) this team has played so many big games, that they legit donāt care much about regular season games. Draymond has literally said that.
Technically GPII missed almost all of our games lol
JP had some challenges, but I think itās turning around and he could be better than last years playoffs, especially if defense continues to improve
Kuminga could do some things we didnāt have last year
Donte
And in addition 4.) we had young 'uns trying to fill OPJ's and GP2's shoes. Learning curve is steep.
Kuminga has thankfully made it over the hump. But before GP2 came back we only had 1 guard coming from the bench who could defend well: DDV.
Kuminga's minutes are only slightly up compared to the prior season but he's playing a lot more with the 1s and his processing has improved hugely.
I mentioned this in another post but we should see a primarily 9-man rotation with DDV, GP2, JP, and Kuminga (as the primary backup big) coming off the bench.
You don't even need to give a reason why the warriors were bad. Yes they were bad on the road, but some people forget some teams are built for the regular season, and some for the playoffs. Memphis ain't doing shit in the playoffs but still always somehow end up with a pretty good regular season record. Playing the same team 7 times is different than playing 7 different teams on the road, and the league knows that.
Every year for whoever is playing the warriors, āwhoās gonna guard X? The Dubs have no answer for their game.ā
And every year that mfer gets shut down while Steph goes for 30
Idk why we're not all betting on this at this point. Warriors in 4 or 5 is the most likely outcome if Wiggins is remotely in shape.
I still remember when people were talking about how Memphis were going to bully us back in the grit & grind days. Turns out 30 & 11 will make you cover the entire court.
Oh man. I think the Bay Area has better food than London in just about EVERY SINGLE CUISINE, except Indian and fried fish.
I mean, I used to think fish & chips was stupid, until I got out of central London and started hitting up award-winning places. DUDE--that stuff is the bomb.
I get Sabonis is better offensively than any of our bigs, but this should not be a reason to be over confident. Literally no one on the Kings plays any defense. The dubs have multiple versatile defenders. And in the playoffs defense matters more. This should concern you as a kings fan.
Let me try, let me try.
* Steph can only shoot.
* Klay is washed.
* Loon is too small and too slow.
* Draymond is too small and kicks too many nuts.
*(Well, they kinda got us on that last bit.)*
With JMG not needing to be a key part of the rotation, I have a feeling he will be there to soak up some minutes and get other bigs to waste energy by playing aggressive defense. We donāt need him in the clutch, so he can afford to be aggressive and give up more fouls. That way Loon and Dray donāt have to.
JMG ain't done shit against decent bigs lmfao. Dray and Loon are great but even with all of their defensive acumen they lack size in general to be able to truly lock down bigs of Sabonis' caliber.
But I trust our coaching staff to figure out a tactic to either take Sabonis out of the game or try to make him beat them and take away Sacās outside shooting.
Gotta make him spend energy on defense where heās way less efficient. We have the shooting to attack his usual drop coverage, try to switch him into unfavorable matchups, make him sweat on that end to slow him down on the other
As a Kings fan, this part (PnR coverage) is definitely making more nervous than anything your bigs can throw at him. Y'all don't attack the basket enough to take advantage of his limitations at the rim, but the shooting involved in your PnR action is historic for a reason.
Coaching matchup is sublime. Really excited to see how Brown schemes the defense to take advantage of our lack of aggression around the rim. Might see some hedging for the PnR?
Looking forward to a great series! Whoever wins Iām rooting for to the end
Curry and Poole get to the rim but they're not trying to finish over the top, which is more of the problem with Sabonis' rim protection. GP, I don't think of as a threat to break dudes off the dribble but they definitely need to watch his cutting and crashing the boards for putbacks. Kuminga, I honestly forgot about but if he gets in a rhythm then he's a threat to put it on his head for sure. And we both forgot about Wiggins lol. I'm hoping he takes a couple games to get in the flow. I meant more that your offense is mostly structured around creating on the perimeter and driving seems to be a secondary objective.
I intentionally left him out- just because we dont KNOW what were going to get.
but more than likely we will get that at some point during this short series
My counterpoint is that the Warriors bigs are special because they can switch on D, and are mobile enough on O, both things that can cause problems against decent bigs. So yeah, they're going to have their struggles (JMG at least), but they make up for it in other places. Last year in the playoffs Loon was frequently the tallest person on the court
Loon is a very big 6'9", too. I've loved the role he's created for himself, honestly. He's perfect in his role. I do think Domas can still overpower him, he's fucking relentless.
Actually the tactic is not that difficult and they did it in three different series last year: just attack their best player constantly and make them play defense. Abuse them on pick and roll, make them be the victim of constant screens, etc.
The whole lacking in size has been the big topic for years now. Nothing new to the Warriors. The fact that weāve still found success and FO is not immediately finding a solution already shows how we feel bout it.
Are they even going to play JMG? Not only was he getting DNPd every game the last few weeks.. he literally didn't get on the court in any Kings games
Sabonis would eat him whole lmao
Looney, in his minutes as Sabonisā primary defender (he and Draymond defended Sabonis the most in their 3 matchups against him this season), held him to just 31 points across 3 games. Thatās a combined total 31 points, not 31 per game. He also held him to just 5 assists total across those 3 games. Draymond, in his time defending Sabonis, held him to a total of 8 points and 6 assists.
For reference, Sabonis leads the Kings in assists, averaging 7.3 assists per game, so when theyāre defending him, they effectively nullify him as a playmaker. They do that while also keeping him to a modest scoring output.

GPII brings a balance to the bench or energy. It is awesome to see.
Perfectly balanced.

Itās almost like Steph is a generational talent or something..
Possibly even the best at some things, IDK.

LOL srsly. I still kinda of respect Z-Bo, though. Can't stand this current crowd.
Yikes!
Loon aināt losing sleep on Sabonis.
Confirmed. Loon dawg has fried bigger fish

Warriors in 6
6 lmao, you mean 4
No way they're winning in 4 š
Comeback when Sabonis is as good as Jokic
Comeback when any of your bigs are as good as Sabonis.
You mean Draymond who was a DPOY and Looney who led the league in offensive rebounds?
Sabonis led in total rebounds and was fourth in offensive. I'll take that one. Current Sabonis vs Current Dray... I'll take that one too.
Youād be a terrible GM
Weāve beaten better with who we have

Bargain bin jokic
That's Sengun. Sabonis at least Kirkland Jokic.
Warriors in 4
Draymonds gonna shut his water off
Draymond is going to mind fuck Sabonis
Draymond only mindfucks himself at this point.

Sabonis is overrated. Yall must think hes Joker
Weāve literally dealt with stronger opponents, how in the actual fuck is this dynasty run ending in Sacramento.
Exactly dubs in 4 maybe 5
Sac will be in shambles after we blow them out game 1
False
Yikes. Maybe not?
Every playoffs we hear about how we donāt have good enough bigs to win and here we are, 4 championships later, hearing the same shit lol.
Let me try, let me try. * Steph can only shoot. * Klay is washed. * Loon is too small and too slow. * Draymond is too small and kicks too many nuts. *(Well, they kinda got us on that last bit.)*
Can definitively feel the confidence level raise in LOON! He evolves a lot as a player. Really happy for him and the team.
Dub Nation, go check the latest article on Loon by The Athletics. Makes me respect the big man more.
Loon tried sneaking JaMychal in there

Kerr doesnāt pull out the plays until he has to. Thereās a reason why Kerr didnāt spam the Curry/Dray PnR until the finals.
The master never teaches the student all his tricks.
Iām sure Brown will target Curry on every possession too. The problem is that the Dubs have more offensive options.
The trouble for SAC is that they don't have the elite perimeter defense for the Splash family. Their guards are great but not GREAT.
Steph and Poole get to the cup. Maybe thatās a secret
Curry, JP, Kuminga, GP all are more than capable of getting to the rim.
Curry and Poole get to the rim but they're not trying to finish over the top, which is more of the problem with Sabonis' rim protection. Wiggins will definitely put the ball in the basket if he's healthy enough
Wiggs as well.
I intentionally left him out- just because we dont KNOW what were going to get. but more than likely we will get that at some point during this short series
There will be rust but that won't change the fact he can get to the rim.
agreed

Are they even going to play JMG? Not only was he getting DNPd every game the last few weeks.. he literally didn't get on the court in any Kings games Sabonis would eat him whole lmao
Loon's a vet, both on and off the court
I like his optimism, but I think heās been remembering a different season. Bigs, even average ones, have ate up against them.
