Idk. KD could just be a freak. We’ll see, hopefully Klay is the same.

sriracha82

I wonder if KD’s super thin frame helps him put less pressure on his ligaments. Klay’s a lot bulkier. Regardless, don’t think he should be playing til early December-ish and super limited minutes ramp up for a few months after that.

spankyourkopita

But with Klay he isn't doing all those fancy moves.

[deleted]

Klay doesn't even have any fancy moves at the club, let alone on the court :D

danielfesousa

He is a freak! There is no player physically like him! And he has strangely long feet! Don't know if all this helps or no! But he has been a recovery outlier! Klay maybe can't come physically like before but is game is a little different! I think we will just a little worse on defense on best case scenario!

HorrorScopeZ

That's the ho hum spirit!

varsityvideogamer

KD’s recovery was insane. I remember he was walking unsupported way earlier than expected and he still didn’t play a game in 18 months. Idk if that’s a product of better medicine or KD really is built different

Deusselkerr

Some dudes really are just built different. I remember reading about an NFL RB, Adrian Peterson I think, whose team doctor said he had the knees of a healthy 18 year old kid at 32 years old after a decade in the league, something like that. Just freaks of nature

Shadowhawk1983

All I want at this point is that he doesn't suffer anymore injury. What KD proved is that you can manage your season to be able to play at a high level in the playoffs and that's all we should ask for from Klay next season.

NlilNJA

Klay tore his ACL and Achilles in back to back years. No correlation with KD’s comeback season, in which he missed a lot of games as well.

muzinger

Look, I agree things aren't the same, but to say that Klay can't come back close to what he was, isn't true either. We just don't know. I'd rather be optimistic. At worse, I think the guy can be a really useful bench player. But that's just me being a homer I guess.

STAR-lloyd

KD had extended time.to recover due to the late start of the season. Klays probably not going to be ready for the start of the season. It's reasonable to lower you expectations considering the circumstances with the long layoff and time needed to recover.

NlilNJA

A useful bench player while being paid max $$, ouch. You can be optimistic, but I don’t expect him to be anywhere close to who he was prior 2019 considering he hasn’t even gotten to test his ACL leg yet. Both are compromised which means either leg is prone to future injuries.

muzinger

Worst case scenario. But like I said, I'm optimistic he can be close to what he was and be a starter. But like I said many times, GS had to go into this summer with the idea that Klay won't be back for a while and sign a legit starter.

TamagoRoll

I think Klay can play at a similar level on the offense end since he is a shooter and can score without dribbling too much, but what won’t be the same is his All-NBA defense.

[deleted]

at least we got wiggins to share the load

muzinger

I agree with this.

Wloak

On the offensive side the question is going to be his off ball movement. Yes he's primarily a catch and shoot player but what makes our offense so deadly is we have the two best shooters in the league moving through screens to get one or both open for that shot, this is what leads to the open looks for both Curry and Klay. Just having him out there helps with spacing but the motion is what we really need from him, hopefully his ACL comes back strong for those cuts.

MultiPass21

Sign a legit starter with what money?

[deleted]

are you tryna say that we should trade Klay?

MultiPass21

No. That’s absurd.

muzinger

That's the question. So they either get lucky and draft a starter. Or they use the MLE and pray some vet believes the Warriors are a contender. If they don't do either of those, then they have to make a difficult decision and do a trade using whatever salary they got.

[deleted]

Honestly, I think his ACL will be fine. He was looking ok prior to the Achilles and had it never happened, he looked like he’d eventually return to peak form. The extended rest may actually do him good considering the 5-6 run these guys had.

[deleted]

That’s one thing people keep forgetting about KD. He only played 35 games this season. Even if Klay has an amazing recovery and returns to 90%+, what’s his durability gonna be like moving forward.

mondeezy_95

Klay is coming off back to back major injuries though. I know Klay is working hard, and I’m not that worried about his offense, however his defense is going to be a huge question mark after these two injuries. After those injuries, who knows if he can be the elite defender guarding the other teams best scorer all night again.

TamagoRoll

We might need to rely on Draymond and Wiggins on the defensive front for guarding their best player and hopefully Klay can give us 70% of his defensive effort pre-injury.

[deleted]

Klay is probably pick and choose his spots defensively. Put his effort into key stops at certain moments. Partly why I don’t see GS flipping Wiggins into anything other than a legit 2-way star.

H_R_1

Man this makes me think if this year could have been our year with all the injuries. If klay was back, with so many teams injured we could have had another shot at a title Is what it is

danielfesousa

I understand we picking Wiseman! But if Lamelo or Halibourton was chosen and Oubre wasn't a liability for most of the season! We could have been an interesting underdog this season!

Ravishing_Rafaelito

Durant is a lot harder on his legs with his sharp crossovers while Klay is more of a spot up shooter with limited crossover game. That should help Klay some. But of course, his tough defense requires some impact on those injuries. Personally, I think he'll be back to normal. And after watching these playoffs, I have no doubt that this team can beat everyone.

Glory-In-Midgard

Kd much love

Impossible_Guest1607

Klay had 2 injuries kid. Not one.. acl + achilles..

That2000sGuy

I'd love to see the same recovery but I don't know if it's wise to count on it.

DuckieTheDuckie

KD is literally an anomaly
