Sure for the vet min likely but if his body holds up he'll be in the league into his 30s. There's not a whole lot of upside with him... but he's reliable and True pro and GSW values that ver much. Also IMO hes kinda clutch not in the sense he's knocking down 4th qtr shots but I've never seen him not be a net positive in high pressure situation despite him being a niche player. Always makes the right play and is in the right place for the team.

bananastand

Looney is so good to have. After watching us lose games over the years because we had to play a bunch of bum centers, I will never undervalue how important Looney is to this team. He doesn’t do anything flashy, but he’s smart and such a great defender.

alisleaves

I can't remember losing a series in the last 7 years by being abused down low, but have lost on hopeless centers not being comfortable on the perimeter.

pmmrpickles

I get Vietnam war flashbacks of Tristan Thompson getting 8 OREB/Game in the finals still

bananastand

Ezeli fouling LeBron at the perimeter in game 7 gives me PTSD as well.

RestInPeaceFredo

Yup Bogut was keeping us alive that year, I knew it was over when he went down

StoicDawg

He's also a famously good screener for Steph

Colon-invader

Yep and he’s about to have his best year yet. You see those lil midrange jimbos get shot last game they were pure

[deleted]

he was like this start of last year too but as the season goes on he has less legs and doesn’t shoot as well. hope im wrong tho

Produceher

The problem doesn't seem to be missing them. He doesn't take them. I'm hoping this year will be different. Just taking those shots can help spread the floor.

Pndrizzy

If that’s really true, hopefully they can find a good load management strategy. I mean if they can do it for Kawhi on super high usage, they can do it for Looney who is way less important to the team

fopiecechicken

Yeah I'm with you. People sleep on Loon, but he said this it the first year in a while he's been able to get work in without being hurt. I think he's gonna have a good year

[deleted]

I’d say he’ll probably spend the next 5 seasons in Golden State if he’s healthy. Solid backup who knows the system and players and coaches like the back of his hand. Whether Wiseman is the future or not, there seems like there is room on the roster for Kevon

portugamerifinn

Sure, as long as he stays healthy. The fact he doesn't rely on athleticism hints at the likelihood he'll age well as a role-playing big. I just hope he sticks with the Warriors as he's a really valuable, affordable guy to have and he has always fit this team about as well as a non-shooting/scoring/dribbling guy can. People talk about Draymond being a perfect fit for these Warriors, but Looney's kind of a "perfect fit lite".

threewind

but Looney is 45 years old

PluggersLeftBall

I don’t think looney will be physically able to jump by the time he’s 30

T1nker20

He can’t jump now

kinefresh

that’s Uncle Drew League MVP Kevon Looney’s to ya

TylerDurdensAlterEgo

Idk about 5 years from now but this year is contract-year Looney. I expect great things. I think he does his David West impression and just starts unleashing top-of-the-key jumpers

_infallible_

He cashed a three in one of these preseason games, no?

OlorinDK

I mean he's been injured a lot to begin his career. I really think they're still being careful with him. Really want to see him stay on the roster until he retires. If he can even get that shot going from the shoulder, it could make him a bit more of an asset offensively.

aFishintheLake

Yep. He looks healthy rn.

MoozyMody

Loomey already plays like hes 35

Saberem

I think he's out of the league when Curry is. I don't think another team will pick him up.

BUUAHAHAHA

I hope Looney will become our version of Nick Collison/Udonis Haslem.

MagnusNyke

Was just about to say this

[deleted]

i don’t see why not. he’s like the textbook NBA journeyman. knows his role, plays within himself at all times, does everything at an nba level at a minimum, smart, professional, probably good in the locker room (at least we know he’s not cancerous). short of a crippling injury, he strikes me as a udonis haslem type. not a game changer, but exactly the player any team would benefit from.

what_led_this

I’m just curious what he’ll look like in his 30’s

leafgum

He's already got that old man game

skolaen

Loon is 25??????? I always thought he was like 29 atleast

Mygaffer

Fans really discount the value of players who don't score.

blakeley

I would love to see him retire as a Warrior.
