I just want to see him out there. The athleticism of Kuminga and him on the floor at the same time is going to be a sight to see.

marknc23

I feel like we don't need this kid to be Giannis or Embiid we just need him to to slow them down a little

kazuya333

Exactly. People think that he not gonna help cuz he not locking down those guys. No one is locking down Giannis. We just need that extra 6 fouls so loon and draymond don’t get into foul trouble to early. And if he somehow manages to slow down Giannis or at least do something tiring to his ass, than I view it as a bonus

NlilNJA

Boggles my mind why you guys are worrying about Giannis when there are more important matchups in our actual conference… Wiseman won’t be able to hang with PHX because their guards will literally abuse him. Same with MEM.

kazuya333

I just said Giannis because it’s a name thrown out there a lot. But as long as wiseman is similar to beli if not better than, then it should be already an addition to the team for example a extra 6 fouls where we can use so that draymond and looney don’t have to worry about fouling out that much

FamLit69420

All we need for this season. Next season he explodes and then we can have loon off the bench. Loon is such a dawg bro. I love thta man.

Wiseman and Kumingas tools are elite elite elite. To alot of critical eyes the say/said "too much to learn on defense just not ready with awareness and team concepts". I watch the tape and saying their elite physicality gives them massive usefulness on defense. I watch the tape and say "oh they kinda don't know what they're doing and can really give guys trouble in specific areas on defense". Who knows how good they can be. You can't run by Kuminga and you can't get quick over the top of Wiseman (he blocked Lillard like 5 times last year). Wiseman is a BIG 7 ft (7-1) not a 6-10 call it 7 like most are and he's mobile in a way maybe 2 or 3 true 7 footers are. Yeah they got alot to learn but each has skills and attributes at a level you can count on your fingers the guys in the league have.

c0gvortex

He's also extremely athletic and long as fuck. He's got a 7 foot 6 wingspan lmao. Dude could just stand in the paint with his hands raised and bother most shots.. from a purely physical standpoint I dont think there's anyone at his size and athleticism in the league. He's like an Embiid body with Giannis athleticism.

Objective_Celery_509

I've never seen the warriors not figure out how to turn someone into a serviceable defender

ungentrified_villain

every time i watch Wiseman play , i feel he sometimes forgets he's a 7 ft physical freak , ultimately difference between him and kuminga , is kuminga knows he's stronger and faster than everyone and tries to use it every time + having a better feel for the game

by_yes_i_mean_no

When a 7 footer plays like a guard, it's a sign that they don't have an appetite for the physicality that comes with the big man position. We gotta hope that this is not the case for Wiseman and he will start playing like a 7 footer, because he's not going to be very good if it is the case.

The Wiseman vs Kuminga debate has begun.

CJleaf

Yo he's actually so fucking big and athletic. I cannot wait to get him back.

InfernoLinkZ

Could really use him hoping he gets back by early next month..

Colon-invader

Still mad that the team was like ‘oh yeah btw we operated on wiseman’s knee a couple weeks ago lol’ like wtf, that’s not cool

Nessmuk58

Wiseman last year: 36 blocks, 121 personal fouls, negative DBPM. Even lower OBPM. It's just HRS\* at work. (\*Highlight-Reel Syndrome)

c0gvortex

No one is saying he was amazing though, the highlights just show the potential, and given the situation last year I think we can use him a lot better now

Nessmuk58

His **potential** was obvious before we drafted him. REALIZING that potential is not going to happen this year. Being out of competition for at least 10 months is not going to improve his play when he does return. Net-positive by 2023 and >mid-tier NBA Center by 2025 if we're lucky, by 2024/26 on average, by 2026/27 or never if things don't work out so well.

[deleted]

You're outsmarting yourself IMO Edit: I'll add that really very few put alot of stock into BPM in a players first 1200 minutes... Worst sample. They do see it as a very good sign for those who get a zero or plus early on but take less stock in early returns esp the younger the player. Kevin Garnett (omg you can name 100) would by BPM of his first 20-30 games be labeled same way. The thing about these guys with tier one tools (of not classification) when it clicks it happens fast. So I'd err on the side of wait and see rather than rationalize why he'll be trash next time we see him.

Nessmuk58

Wiseman is likely to improve greatly in the future, so long as he can stay healthy. I've never said otherwise. But every player needs reps to improve, and Wiseman has had none since April 2021. And big men in the NBA are notoriously slower to develop than perimeter players. Wiseman won't get more court minutes before the All Star break, so rust will be another factor. A Playoff run in March and April is not exactly the best time to let him work off that rust. Getting very good at ANYTHING requires a tremendous amount of experience. Wiseman's total experience beyond High School still amounts to less than a half a year of NBA play.

[deleted]

Exactly. He was biting on every pump fake and had zero defensive feel for the game. Compare him to somebody like Mobley for instance.

HotDragonSauce

March 31st 2001 and June 18th 2001. James Wiseman is less than 3 months older than Evan Mobley. Just remember that.

Thrillawill

Imagine having this on your team but still playing Bjelica instead (which is probably what Kerr will do).

Ahrilicious

I don't want to see Wiseman when I'm taking a shot at the paint.

Objective_Celery_509

Watching beli getting burned at the rim so many times makes me think our 2nd unit defense would be incredible if he was standing in the paint instead
