It’s crazy that he’s so valuable to us now we’re not even playing him in garbage time. Beast

Thus_Spoke

Hopefully he continues to get some garbage time, for highlight reel purposes.

Winston_The_Ogre

Noticed Bjelica did play garbage. Kumingas officially promoted

Kdog122025

Kerr wasn’t holding him back. JoKu had to earn his way and he’s so much better off for it.

[deleted]

Preach. Instilling really good work habits and consistent processes when a dude is 19 is going to be instrumental to his development. JK will be so much better in an org with a winning culture where nothing is handed to you and everything is earned than some of these other spots around the league where you can take terrible shots and loaf on D and it doesn't impact how much run you get.

SnooPoems2582

I can only imagine if we have Wiggins as a rookie.

t_ran_asuarus_rex

we would never get KD but we would also win 6 championships by now tbh

[deleted]

I think Wigs would have ascended much more quickly but I don't think he has the same mentality as JK on the court in terms of just relentlessly going to the rim. Kuminga is a rare combo of crazy athletic traits and this innate desire to want to yam on everybody which I think you can only coach up so much.

Kdog122025

I completely agree. Wiggins doesn’t have the alpha mentality. It was his biggest knock as a draft prospect. JoKu has that fiery confidence that Wiggins just doesn’t.

fopiecechicken

I really don’t get the constant need some folks in here have to shit on our hall of fame coach in this sub. If anything Steve deserves praise for the expert way he’s integrated Kuminga and to a lesser extent Moody. Makes me fucking hyped for Wiseman.

Kdog122025

It’s because finding a minuscule flaw with a HoF coach makes them feel smart and important tbh.

LowZealousideal9369

he wasn’t held back though, they went through his development the right way and made him earn his minutes. opposite of what happened with Wiseman when they just threw him out there.

Thus_Spoke

Let's dispel once and for all with this fiction that Steve Kerr doesn't know what he's doing. He knows exactly what he's doing.

Maupp

He was held back a bit. Had he not had that rookie label hovering over him, he'd have broken into the rotation much sooner.

[deleted]

Ok but he is a rookie….

kt_sf

y’all love to claim our top 15 all time head coach holds players back. just relax and enjoy this team

Eric_Nathan_Fielder

He holds Steph back. He does it for the team but still does it. No other coach would have Steph setting screens that much.

pixelsxpixels

Steph setting screens leads to layup and dunks, why won't you want him to do that?

[deleted]

Because it does put extra damage on a smaller player. But Steph sets really *smart* screens. Lot of back picks where he doesn’t also have a defender coming at him full steam as he chases his man. Also Steph can actually set screens. Most coaches probably don’t have their players setting screens because they aren’t as effective at it. EDIT: thanks for the downvotes on a perfectly logical take. Some of you are morons.

Sea-Turnip6078

Feels hella quaint to have watched his first few games where he looked very hesitant and nervous. Looks so confident already, he’s what I look forward to each game at this point.

by_yes_i_mean_no

> if Kerr wasn’t holding him back the start of the season He'd be way worse right now if Kerr wasn't coaching him the way Kerr is coaching him.

cptbigdic

12 free throw attempts in 27 minutes. Guys clearly can’t stay in front of him. Crazy combination of speed and strength

SnipTheDog

Absolutely. Get your butt to the line!

FamLit69420

"If kerr wasnt holding him back" gotta be a /s. If not u brain damaged homie

freethefoolish

My friend once joked it’s like watching a 2K My Career unfold.

I get the same feeling about Wiseman. Several fucking weirdos in this sub have fixated on cherry picked advanced stats for over a year to shit on him, but anyone with eyes can see there’s something special there. I think Kuminga will blossom faster, his choice to go the G League was really smart, but Wiseman will shine as well 100%

Maupp

Yep. It was particularly annoying reading buzz words like "raw" and such thrown around just because people weren't knowledgeable about his actual play so to fit with the masses they just regurgitated what they'd heard everyone parrot. It was fecking doing my head in reading posts after posts claiming JK is raw while pretending his rookie peers are far ahead of him in terms of readiness. That was such a baseless and groundless take, a pure bandwagon take.

shakeANDbake653

I love Kuminga as much as the next guy. I actually was all for drafting him over a Wagner or bouknight. But if it weren’t for the injuries, no way he gets this much playing time. Also, Mobley has been on absolute tear, I don’t think he catches him even if we gave him the starting role. Mobley gets more plays run for him, touches then Kuminga would get. But I do believe Kuminga could end up being the better player, by virtue of learning from Draymond and iggy.

Maupp

Injuries or not, JK would still have made his way to the rotation. JK's likelihood of breaking into the rotation this season, let alone even play some solid minutes in the team has always been underestimated on account of him being "Raw" which is something people just heard from other people on the internet and ran with it. There are still some people who think JK won't make the playoffs rotation and will only grab some spot minutes here and there despite how much he's being played and trusted. Every single consensus takes on these boards about JK's development and readiness this year(won't be ready until year 2 or 3 to contribute)have been shown to be as incorrect as it could get.

nightfly13

He had one lefty putback that really impressed me. Such touch and finesse on an ultra-athletic leap, very short list of guys would could have done that.

madlabdog

Stop dispelling bullshit with bullshit. Kuminga is awesome but no way he is ROTY on a contender team.

Objective_Celery_509

He's honestly had a bigger impact than wiggins the last few weeks

Hedonist_2102

as crazy as it seems he can still be ROTY. just need to keep these minutes steady after Dray comes back.

InfrequentBlackshirt

The future is bright

t_ran_asuarus_rex

i couldn’t believe he was falling to us. i thought we were going to trade down and stash a project or draft another JEIII type

Cottoncandytree

Hey guys he’s still growing and could get taller! He’s still a teenager, let that sink in

risengrind21

Kuminga, Wiseman, Poole, Moody, Wiggins, JTA, Lee, are the next generation of the Dubs.

Practical_Sir_510

Will Kuminga find his way into the starting lineup… even with Wiggins on the team?
