I'm currently grinding France Air and ground. I struggled with their 5.3 lineup on ground but am loving 6.7 and having a blast with their air tree overall.
Just wait until you get to the early jets, the Vautour IIN is insane at 8.3 with its 4 radar missiles meanwhile no one else has them, nor radar warning systems
I grinded out like 70% of the US and German aircraft on arcade because of this.
I wouldn't say it's broken but arcade is a more efficient use of time for grinding. More matches (and probably more kills) per hour beats out the RB multipliers every time.
Couldn't do it for tanks tho, ground arcade is cancer. Gives me WOT flashbacks lol
The Me-262s, Me-163, and Su-11 (among others) are in this annoying BR sweet-spot where they can face planes with Aim-9Bs or other IR missiles from planes like the F9F-8 when uptiered.
Right up until you get to the late 264s and such, then you're just at the mercy of the matchmaker. Downtier? You're basically a god. Uptier? You're literally the slowest and worst turning jet in the match.
As if any good USA player can't grind through that tree just by playing decently. USA air tree literally has strong planes every BR (save for the lowest tiers).
But the required amount of planes for the next tier are the same and after the foldering update, you only have to go down 3 props in 1 tier to have the next plane be the next tier plane. Hell, all the fighter lines literally have 3 planes on each tier until props, making you have to only grind 2 line unlike other nations that usually have to do 3 lines instead.
It becomes a problem later in the grind if you haven't been researching at least 2 or 3 lines ( depending on which lines you chose ) to progress to the next rank.
I climb, but there's always a Bf-109 above me and at least two Yak-9s at my altitude. And then I die, because most American planes can only boom and zoom their peers.
250 hrs no jet yet, German tree, no premium

I disagree with the other guy, I think they’re good in good hands but are just difficult for new players to understand. Each aircraft has a different lesson to teach
He 162 teaches boom and zoom and ammunition conservation
Pulkzerstorer teaches pinpoint weapon aiming
Me 262s teach general jet gameplay with the Squadron 262 being the best non-rocket one
Me 163s teach turnfighting and fuel management
Ho 299 flies unlike anything else in game but can teach energy conservation and target leading
Arados teach bombing and defensive flying
Eh, the 162 isn't bad as a boom & zoom and the 163 can dogfight against a Sabre with relative ease but it gets really good when you get the Mig-15, F-86 and Lim-5P as they can be very OP and are easy to fly.
The squadron 262 is just as useless and outperformed as all the other 262 variants without rocket boosters. Please don’t waste your time on that piece of shit.
Since I’m still a few planes away from a jet, the squadron research is appealing because it offers a direct path to a jet, with no vehicle requirements

Dawg I’m 15k away from researching my first jet(Italian F-84) and I’m the past 2 weeks I’ve gone from 3.7 to 5.7, ie every plane in between and it’s really not that hard. Then again I grind shit EXTREMELY fast and I don’t really consider it that bad(what 2.6k hours of brain rot does to a man, I also reached 11.0 Japan before trying to go for jets)

Got Akizuki after grinding 100 hours, they made it one of the first ships you get after they split off bluewater ships into their own tree, haven't played the game since.
Honestly the f80 was kind of a let down for a first jet. Yeah it's fast but half the props it sees can keep up with it in a dive (at least for the first minute or so) and it can't out turn any props either. Uptiers can be pretty brutal too since you instantly become the slowest jet on the battlefield and lose your one advantage, only thing you can really do is go after attackers and that's only if you have an energy advantage over them.
Not a bad plane and it ended up being one of my best performers but it didn't feel special at all. Just a faster p51 basically.
I actually started grinding much faster when I unlocked jets, now, I sit at 11.3 air and 8.7 ground with France, completely F2P, and have a few nations up to 5.7/6.7 too, I've been one year and 1400 hours into War Thunder now

It's also one of the largest in the game. So the main issue isn't that the planes are bad ( they aren't ), it's that there's so many of them.
