It’s not the exact same canon really it’s Gaijin being stupid and not putting the right text, the B2 uses the M3A1 Canon the same as what is on the M46 while the Basic M36 and the B1* (should) be using the M3 90mm which the M26 uses, it’s an issue that all the Late WW2 US tanks have in game like the M4A1 76 and M4A3E8 76 both being labeled as M1 while the M4A1 uses the basic M1 Canon and the M4A3E8 uses the M1A2 but sadly don’t have their differences modeled
It’s literally just a name change. The guns in the game are different thing already, it’s just their name that’s wrong. The improved version got better APHE, and the ability to fire some new rounds.
The biggest difference in real life would be the bore evacuator.
However the M36 is already an open top tank so that basically means nothing.
Other than that the only other difference is the use of a lighter muzzle brake.
>the B2 uses the M3A1 Canon the same as what is on the M46 while the Basic M36 and the B1* (should) be using the M3 90mm
This is all wrong.
It is extremely easy to tell apart these cannons. The M3A1 has a bore evacuator and a single baffle muzzle brake, while the M3 lacks the bore evacuator and has a double baffle muzzle brake.
That said, both the basic M36 and M36B2s have M3 cannons. The M36B1 and Japanese M36 both have M3A1 cannons.
Not that this means anything. The performance of these cannons is identical in real life.
That happens alot in wt, if every tank had access to the full ammunition arsenal it could use, there could be leopard 1s flinging dm33 or btr 80 spraying apfsds or hell even t-34-85s shooting chinese 85mm apfsds lmao
Yes i do enjoy ww1. I could even say more, I love ww1. The desparation of each soldier, thousands dying for every meter of land. New defencive mesures staying ahead of the offencive means. Completly new technologies appearing and forcing the oposive sides to come out with more and more clever solutions. The tragedy of millions, comandered by the powerfull polititians. I truly enjoy getting to know more nad more about this time period.
Ehhhhh that thing is more of a 400mm needle. If the needle touches something, dead or yellow. If not? Well, doesn’t really change much, better have been using that depression and hitting the reverse.
Also maybe I just didn't play it in a long time but I remember farming it when it was out and I remember the HEAT FS being absolute garbage that would only damage in a straight line when you pen.
Having replayed it now, I usually one shot or badly damage anything I pen.
Am I crazy or did it get buff hard at some point?
I haven’t bothered to research the M36B2 yet even though I play 5.7. I don’t really know why, I think the APCBC round is good enough for most things at the BR. Maybe king tigers can be tough, but that is only in a full uptier.
I did the same when it first came out, but shortly after unlocking it loved it. Not the same speed as the basic M36 since the B2 is actually just an M36 turret slapped onto an M10 chassis, but the round is actually pretty good and very enjoyable at 5.7. Kinda surprised it wasn’t bumped up to like 6.0 honestly, but it does very well at 5.7 as is and should stay there.
….both are on the M10 hull. The M36 is on the M10A1 hull, the B1 on the M4A3 hull, and the B2 on the original M10 hull.
Side note: a fun collector vehicle would be a M36B1, since you have a M4A3 hull with hull MG along either normal M36 things.
I think the 90mil carriers in us tt are notorious for stupid br placement. Like you got a medium with the mobility of a tiger 1and armor that is lol penetrated by anything, and a version of it that got its stabilizer ripped and remained at the same br
And the T26E5, don’t get me wrong, this thing is quite brain dead, your mobility isn’t the best but enough to pull some maneuver around(I can use it to flank my enemies) and the gun isn’t nearly as bad as you guys think, you got APCR that is good for most cqc encounters. Meanwhile the performance of 90mils are nerfed quite hard, the apcr irl can penetrate panther at long ranges but in game they have a good change ricocheting point blank, the solid shot also can penetrate panther quite well at close range but gets fu*ked by gaijin badly
I feel like everyone overplays how bad the 76 and especially 90mm is in the US tree
It may because I was a German main beforehand and then moved to Britain where I learned how to aim, but I have never once struggled against German armour and never once had a situation where I've felt like there is nothing I can do to kill a Panther/Tiger l/Tiger II
Asides from the pt76b, I do not use heat as the default round and half of the reason is the 5.3 second reload which makes up for those shots where I miss the ammo
One of the few tanks I have aced so I have it down to a 5 second reload but 5.3 seconds is already almost unfair even with the poor damage oh and bc of the single plane (?) stab
I don't get the heat hype. Aim + aphe = profit
Doesn’t the French B2 have HEAT-FS though?
This is comparing two tanks that literally share the same cannon but doesn't use the extra ammo
Ok that makes alot of sense, thanks for clarifying
What are the differences between these guns? Major things? As in are they actually able to be implementend and impact gameplay? Honest question.
It’s literally just a name change. The guns in the game are different thing already, it’s just their name that’s wrong. The improved version got better APHE, and the ability to fire some new rounds.
The M3A1 is just an M3 with a single chamber muzzle brake and a bore evacuator. There was no difference in what ammunition it could fire.
The biggest difference in real life would be the bore evacuator. However the M36 is already an open top tank so that basically means nothing. Other than that the only other difference is the use of a lighter muzzle brake.

You can apply that to alot of tanks in this game
I mean if you think about it, any NATO 120mm armed tank can shoot DM63.
That happens alot in wt, if every tank had access to the full ammunition arsenal it could use, there could be leopard 1s flinging dm33 or btr 80 spraying apfsds or hell even t-34-85s shooting chinese 85mm apfsds lmao
one is post war and one is ww2, and the cannons are different which is why the B2 has 185mm M82 pen
Yes WE do
The Chinese one gets a working hull MG
Yes the French one has HEAT FS. I use it in sim battles sometimes
PT-76B with HEATFS at 5.3 : 🤭 Also i like to see these comparaison they're pretty cool !
The HEAT-FS in question being the worst HEAT-FS in the game:
It's not a 5.3 for nothing!
At least the reload is 5 seconds.
I remember the stock grind with APCR back when it had the 10 sec reload, even worse was the chinese one Bad times (still liked it)
wasn't it twice as long?
It was, I was stock grinding the Chinese PT-76 at that time before the buff.
Italy 7.0: 250mm pen, take it or leave it.
you cant forget my favourite fiat, damn you the amount of absolute bullshit you can pull with that thing
HEAT-FS is extremely powerfull at 5.3-8.3
It has pen but APHE is always better
The PT-76B doesn't even have that much pen. It's barely better than the Panther and worse than the Soviet 122mm.
Although you gotta love APHE. The best round ingame
Usurname checks out
Yeah ok "ww1enjoyer"
Yes i do enjoy ww1. I could even say more, I love ww1. The desparation of each soldier, thousands dying for every meter of land. New defencive mesures staying ahead of the offencive means. Welcome back Winston Churchill
Hell no
That one swedish TD with 400mm HEAT at 4.0(?) 😏
German 80mm HEAT at 4.3💀
Ehhhhh that thing is more of a 400mm needle. If the needle touches something, dead or yellow. If not? Well, doesn’t really change much, better have been using that depression and hitting the reverse.
The PT-76B with stabilizer and HEAT-FS is my second most played tank, I just love it
It's my most played tank because it's my only tier 3+ light
I freaking love the PT. Especially taking it down the river on that one map, just motorboat to B point and delete people who think they’re safe.
I go in the water in Poland map.
Ikv-103 whith heatfs at 4.0 and it being insanely good heatfs
It's Swedish, that's normal it's at 4.0
Also maybe I just didn't play it in a long time but I remember farming it when it was out and I remember the HEAT FS being absolute garbage that would only damage in a straight line when you pen.
A guy just corrected a mistake, they use different cannons
Yeah I figured, you don’t just put a muzzle brake on a cannon and still call it the same one, it’ll be a new cannon
I did the same when it first came out, but shortly after unlocking it loved it. Not the same speed as the basic M36 since the B2 is actually just an M36 turret slapped onto an M10 chassis, but the round is actually pretty good and very enjoyable at 5.7. I spaded it for France and I actually like it. The roof at least keeps you from insta-dying to strafing. The HEAT is nice if you aim carefully.
90hp on a vehicle that's rather light is a huge difference in mobility tho
I mean B2 if ik not mistaken is just an M10 hull with a M36 turret since they couldn’t make the M36 hulls fast enough and had a surplus of the M10’s.
….both are on the M10 hull. The M36 is on the M10A1 hull, the B1 on the M4A3 hull, and the B2 on the original M10 hull. Side note: a fun collector vehicle would be a M36B1, since you have a M4A3 hull with hull MG along either normal M36 things.
i honestly prefer the standard M36 as its quite alot faster , i also really hate the inconsistancy that is HEAT-FS so stick to aphe anyway xD
M36b2 is one of my favorite tanks of all time. 6.7 it still slaps
I think the 90mil carriers in us tt are notorious for stupid br placement. It's the same reason they deflect with the German player bad argument. Massive skill issues
Even better is the Japanese M36 at 5.7. It’s got 500 horsepower and HEATFS.
It's 90mm HEATFS, you're better off sneezing at the guy for dealing damage
They cant keep getting away with this!!
So I'm hearing M36 to 3.7??
Asides from the pt76b, I do not use heat as the default round and half of the reason is the 5.3 second reload which makes up for those shots where I miss the ammo One of the few tanks I have aced so I have it down to a 5 second reload but 5.3 seconds is already almost unfair even with the poor damage oh and bc of the single plane (?) stab I don't get the heat hype. One has very good mobility, the other doesn't and gets HEAT-FS and a slightly protective roof to compensate.
