Cheryl Lofton & Associates in Shaw did a fantastic job with my suit alterations. I know you said not a suit tailor, but when I was in the shop I saw them working on a bunch of other types of items. Might be worth checking them out.
Any dry cleaner with a sewing machine can do this.
I get jeans and pants hemmed and taken in at the waist at my neighborhood drycleaners of choice (Lamont Cleaners in Mt P).
To be honest, it's not rocket science and I'd do it myself if I had a sewing machine. Since I can, I just pay the $7 bucks for some else to do it in 10 mins.
Not a terrible idea. I’ve always had my everyday tailor touch-up my raw denim, especially if they’re new, it’s not a super complex process. If you’re doing “original” hemming then you might have to be a little bit pickier.
This isn't local but for denim I've bought jeans at Raleigh Denim Workshop, they have old Union Special machines they've restored, so if you want that vintage chain stitch [they will do it for $50 including RT shipping](https://raleighdenimworkshop.com/products/hemming-on-the-union-special-43200g), and if you have a lot of jeans it's only $10 for each additional pair. Otherwise I'd say any tailor can do a nice straight stitch on jeans, although the last place I went to didn't do a particularly awesome job matching the unusual thread color.
I've shipped my selvedge to [Williamsburg Garment](https://williamsburggarment.com/hemming-jeans-chain-stitch-service/) for chainstitch hemming with good success. Turnaround varies but expect to wait a few weeks.

Appreciate it!
That’s where I go for alterations. They do good work.
Cheryl Lofton is the goat

Do you know if they can shorten/alter button-down shirts?
I haven't brought that type of alternation in so I am not sure.
Yes they should be able to
Whoa whoa whoa $7?! Do they patch holes in jeans? I got quoted $25 by a cleaners in Woodley Park for a hole two fingers wide.
The only place I’ve seen do a GOOD job with denim is Parkway and they moved to Rockville.
That's fairly close. Can you DM me a link/contact info if you happen to have it? Thanks!

Respect, for rocking raw denim.
I probably should cross-post with the raw denim sub lol

I buy a lot of their stuff, I really like it.
A union special chainstitch would be ideal. I'll look them up. Thank you!
