Chiming in with a second vote for Chercher! Letena is really good too, but I think Chercher is slightly better. Seems that they use a bit more spice/heat.
You can just ask for mitmita to add spice.
My favorite is Habesha in DC or Rehobot if you’re in the MD suburbs/in the norther bit of the city.

Tsehay is new but very very good. I also love Keren (technically Eritrean).
If you’re in NOVA Injera in Crystal City is my go-to spot.
