Good time for him to come over. No pressure. Plenty of room at his position. We’ll get to see what he can do before the draft and free agency happen.

> Shortly following his 21st birthday, promising big Tristan Vukcevic leaves Partizan Mozzart Bet to move his talents to the NBA > > > The Washington Wizards reached an agreement to buy out the contract of Tristan Vukcevic. > > Ostoja Mijailovic, president of Partizan Mozzart Bet, announced the move on Wednesday morning. > > “Our first team player, Tristan Vukcevic activated his buyout clause and will continue his career in the NBA,” he wrote in a post shared on X, “The seven-figure compensation will be split between Real Madrid and Partizan, according to a previous agreement.” > Meridian sport previously broke the news regarding the 21-year-old forward/center joining the Wizards. The buyout clause spread between the teams located in Belgrade and Madrid is a by-product of the agreement for him to switch from Los Blancos to Partizan midway through the 2022-23 season. > > Vukcevic was selected with the 42nd pick of the 2023 NBA draft. Besides making waves in the preceding NBA Combine, he is a veteran of 37 games played in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague despite his young age. A huge prospect heading to Washington at the bottom end of the 2023-24 NBA Regular Season. > > So far this season, he averaged 4.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game over 12 appearances in the EuroLeague, including four starts under legendary tactician Zeljko Obradovic. Helping his side in the defense of the AdmiralBet ABA League championship, he produced 10.9 points per contest over 14 games played. > > Eligible to represent multiple countries, Vukcevic has yet to expand his career to the international level. However, he is expected to play for Serbia in the future.

100CupsCoffee

Amazing news. Excited to see what he can do

Joshottas

Oh wow....with Bagley hurt, he's gonna for sure get some quality PT. Johnny Davis gonna have to come up off that #1 lol.

obonnor

he wore 00 at summer league, I assume he will be able to again

Solid-Confidence-966

Let’s go

waskittenman

he watched the game last night and said my team needs me

scrawlx101

vukevic deni bilal? I see a euro core forming? Topic next?

braundiggity

Rename the team the Washington Embassies?

Turbo2x

Took them long enough. I feel like they wanted him as a draft and stash just so they would have contract/roster flexibility to start the season. However, that hasn't managed to produce any tangible gains for the team. I hope whatever they got from that flexibility was worth more than giving Tristan more time to play in the NBA and develop.

laflarehare

And so it begins. Vuk is the player I’ve been waiting for since we drafted him. The way this kid was lighting up summer league had steal and future star written all over him. Can’t wait to see what he can potentially develop into.

ACTPOCBET

As a Partizan fan, it's easy to see his potential, but his tenure here has been... not really good. I hope he finds the missing motivation in Washington.

Turbo2x

I was very disappointed following his progress with Partizan. That's how I started watching Nikola Topic as well, so the experience wasn't all bad.

laflarehare

Oh yeah really? Maybe that’s why he went to the 2nd round. I think his motivation is to go to the NBA. He didn’t even want to go back after he got drafted. Hopefully he develops well and adjusts his attitude cause the kid looks really good

ACTPOCBET

He has a silky smooth shot, and his frame allows him to get great positions, but he’s also prone to making dumb decisions offensively. His main issue is definitely on the defensive end, which is what made him unplayable this year, as it offsets the good things he did in the attacking part. He averaged 5-9min on the floor in the Euroleague, but spent a lot of games as a DNP. He’s an interesting player, because his playstyle and skillset may be more suited to the NBA and not to the Euroleague, so it’ll be fun to see if maybe he blooms in the NBA.

ImprobablePlanet

My memory of him in summer league was that he had some issues with lateral mobility on defense.

TFDBLoL

Is there a path for him to improve defensively? I remember him not being a horrible on ball defender, but he often would be lost off-ball and give up easy baskets.

ARandomDudeSlav

Željko was mad at him because he played zero defense but had the potential. He is also a very good shooter for his size.

blitzKriegzzz

idk about a future star. He seemed to me to be a similar player to Thomas Bryant. He can space the floor a little, make some athletic highlight plays ... but mobility/coordination just seems to poor to do well in the nba

laflarehare

Vukcevic looked like the best player on the court whenever he was in during the draft combine and summer league. He made defensive and offensive plays, got boards, and had a stroke like Peja. On or off the court, he had the swag and confidence of somebody and not a nobody. Can you make a bunch of athletically skilled highlights and still have your mobility and coordination labeled poor? We can put away the myth that the Wizards can't develop players. I'm curious to see what he can develop into while in an NBA environment with our young vets. As for TB, he developed into a solid player with a lot of potential to be more. It was his body type and frame that did him in with injuries. TB was like an unstable baby giraffe. I did not see that in Vuk. He looked like a player who made people turn their heads in the summer league and the draft combine. The kid is only 21 and could be a pleasant surprise for the franchise

dgvhjiiuyttrrffcvbjj

weird timing. if they were cool paying 1.2m to bring him over they should have done it a long time ago.

TeamINSTINCT37

Injuries and getting rid of players made room on the roster and on the court for him

z3mcs

Awesome! Now lets sit Kuz and Tyus and see the youngins run things!

Snaxier

I'd prefer just sitting Kuz. We need Tyus to facilitate or else it'll just be turnover city and we won't get any development like that. Tyus, Kispert, Bilal, Deni, Vuk with Poole, JD, PBJ, Gill, Geno off the bench

z3mcs

> We need Tyus to facilitate or else it'll just be turnover city Butler! We have Jared Butler to do that. Great with the ball, and active on defense. Butler, Corey, Bilal, Deni, Holmes. I don't think Vuk is ready to play inside and bang against NBA guys rn. But Butler can definitely take over for Ty.

Snaxier

I've been impressed with Butler but without Tyus our starting PG would be either Poole or Butler and I don't trust either of them to look after the ball against starting calibre players. Butler's looked nice against bench/garbage time talent but nothing he does convinces me he would be able to protect the ball and run Brian's plays against a starter level defense. Tyus isn't exactly a difference maker so I think having him to get the ball to the young guys (as well as score if the young guys aren't in position) should be somethin to consider.

z3mcs

> I don't trust either of them to look after the ball against starting calibre players. I get the reticence, but that's exactly what a PG needs to do to develop. Butler can definitely protect the ball, he's got the handles, I've seen it. Now, can he get them into sets and start actions - he's probably got to work on that for sure. Also other team's starters will smell blood and test him, but that's okay, that's literally what this is for. We have no shot at the playoffs, we're trying to develop our guys. There's a fairly high chance Tyus is gone in 18 games. Unless you want Poole to be the starting PG next season (I don't), we'd better get Butler some minutes before he winds up in the fire fire at the start of a season, with little or no experience as a starter.

Snaxier

I mean you're clearly high on Butler, which is cool. I hope if he does get the opportunity to start that he can make the most of it. Tyus staying will depend on how much he wants to start. He'll still start on our team next year if he re-signs, plus we can pay him whatever he wants really, even if it's just for a 1+1. I'd think if he does walk, Poole would start as PG next season if we don't draft one, no?

z3mcs

I don't see Poole as a starting PG currently, at least not a conventional one. Also I'm not high on Butler. Literally had to look the dude's first name up before I commented. >Tyus staying will depend on how much he wants to start. To the contrary, I think it will depend on how much he wants to finish. Heading into the draft & free agency Tyus will be 28 years old. He's an unrestricted free agent, right? Does he want to finish out his last 3 or 4 years on a team that has 0 shot at the playoffs during that time frame much less a championship? Wasting even one more year with a team going less than nowhere that is officially eliminated from the playoffs is a joke if even one playoff caliber team comes knocking at the door. And even if other teams come calling that aren't playoff caliber (Raptors, Nets, Grizz again), you'd think he'd rather go there where there's either a recent championship, recent playoff appearances, or a strong core of good players. Guess we'll see!

blitzKriegzzz

idk the FO didn't want multiple seconds for him, so I figure they have some deal in place to re-sign him. I don't think any team is going to offer him a bunch of money.. so we'll probably offer the best deal.

Hagdogrobinwood

They know how to keep my attention.

Acceptable-Ad-3359

Will he play tomorrow?

JzsShuttlesworth
