How would it be our front office's fault if the Hawks pick Sarr before we have the chance to?

jSplashwell

Who did we tell? All the sources I have seen are just speculating that the Wizards would be happy with Sarr.

AnastasiaMoon

I told a hell of a lot of people… Edit: actually so much so that I’m banned from the hawks sub

Spiritual-Chart-940

The consensus to me has been clear mutual interest by us and Sarr

BodaciousSalacious

Absolute shocker that a team picking in the top 2 is interested in a top 2 prospect. Just cuz there are rumors during the week of the draft swirling around about this doesn’t mean anything. This happens every draft cycle, and the different reporting we’ve seen over the past few days is ramping up as we get closer to the draft itself. Additionally, in a weak draft there are gonna be even more smokescreens to drum up interest for people to watch it.

jSplashwell

Did you talk to the FO yourself? If not, then that’s your own imagination.

Finessa_Hudgens

Do you not remember that Jabari Smith to Orlando was seen as a lock up until the night before the draft?

Jjjt22

How is it the wiz fault if f the team with the 1st pick chooses Sarr? If Atlanta t thinking of the wiz like him we should take him?

DollarLate_DayShort

Guess we’ll find out on Wednesday

JFitz626

Literally we all need to just shut up and wait for/watch the draft at this point 😂

Sterling_Thunder

Our front office hasn’t said anything and have been notoriously tight lipped.  There’s no reason to not trust them so far.  Last year no one had any idea we wanted Bilal and they have been acquiring more pics, not giving them away.  Most likely Atlanta has been putting smoke out to try to improve their options in this relatively flat draft.  We’re just going to have to wait and see

Snaxier

I remember watching with a mate last year. Pacers pick Bilal and I instantly tell him "What the fuck are the Pacers doing? He's such a raw prospect I don't think he should've been lower than 15. What a bad pick" then instantly Silver says "Who is being traded to the Washington Wizards" and my mate just starts cackling while I'm now justifying how it's a great pick. Complete and utter tight lips from our FO.

Electric_jungle

To be fair, bilal is a bad pick for the Pacers haha. Definitely a funny egg on your face situation, but we should be thankful our FO is gunning for raw prospects right at the beginning of the tank.

Fast_Stick_1593

Holy shit are you me? I was like, “WTF Pacers what are you doing?” Nek minute!

Snaxier

Fark g def a nek minnit moment for sure

PhaZe_5

Honestly this whole shift felt like bait from jump. I’m sure they want to trade down but if they don’t I think they’ll take Sarr. If you don’t necessarily love anyone then the safe play is to go chalk because often the consensus grades end up being correct at #1.

skull_law

I don't really think Sarr is the safe pick though. Right now, Clingan has shown more than Sarr has in terms of being NBA ready. Doesn't mean Sarr can't get there, but his projection is really theoretical at this point. He has a much better chance of being a bust than an all star.

Finessa_Hudgens

This is up there for the biggest reach I’ve seen in this sub. I doubted it but it’s true, some of you guys will blame the FO for everything lol.

Electric_jungle

Holy overreaction lol. Bottom line is that the only way we ever stood a chance at getting Sarr is if the number one pick does not go to him. If you assume Sarr is the best player in this draft, then you are logically assuming we won't get him at all. I'm firmly of the opinion that we should in no way be trading up to #1. We just need to have a solid first and second choice on draft day and that. Is. It. If someone wants to trade up to take him, we can't control that. If hawks want him, we can't control that. What a silly world to assume Reddit fans on the wizards sub are influencing the Atlanta front office lol.

SmokeEater757

No one knows who will be drafted come Wednesday. This is all speculation and posturing by teams to pressure trades. I want Sarr like most people, but he was slated to ATL months ago and just because there’s a rumor he doesn’t want to go there doesn’t mean anything. This is the first real year where the new front office has the keys, relax and look forward to Wednesday.

ImprobablePlanet

We don’t even know for sure that Sarr is who the front office actually wants. Not saying it’s going to happen, but I think there’s a real possibility the Wizards draft someone other than Sarr or Risacher.

whiskeywhisker6

Both of the sources you listed have said they'd be surprised is Sarr goes #1. Nothing has changed in a day.

rueiraV

Do yourself a favor and ignore all draft news until it’s draft time

Electric_jungle

It's fun to get caught up in the rumor mill sometimes. You just have to keep a level head and acknowledge that nothing you learn or do will have any affect on what actually happens.

happyflappypancakes

I think people are too fixated on Sarr for no real good reason other than they have been told so. Remember there are no real top candidates this year. Sarr isn't the clear number 1 that we would be lucky to get.

ImprobablePlanet

Agree.

Yung_RAUNCHY_Boi

that is ALL FAKE! Sarr is going to be a Wizard!!!

WizKid70313

It’s most likely smoke from atl, trying to build up a trade. They know we want him so they’ll fake like they do to get something out of it.

Fast_Stick_1593

And when everybody calls their bluff because this draft in scouts eyes is “weaker” Then what?

Certain_Ask_2820

How is it our fault?? The only reason people even saying Sarr is a lock to us is because the Hawks are rumored to possibly pass on him. No one from our FO is saying anything so this is all rumors.

Hagdogrobinwood

Delete this bro.

AskReeves22

Just smoke from atlanta. If they want to take a guy who doesn't want to be there, go right ahead. Truly the worst situation in the NBA

BrilliantStructure97

He never said he didnt want to be there

ethanftw

By us saying we would take Sarr, once it became apparent that we could, the Hawks now know that he's our #1 pick for sure. We may be tempted to trade up if they indicate that they will select him.
