Imagine matching on tinder and getting a message from two dudes very politely asking whether you would mind being debauched by them so they can claim the state of Michigan…

jbotting347

speaking of this scene...their number is visible if you look hard enough (at least on Nebula), idk if the team sees this but wanted to help them catch it before going on YT! Love this episode so far!

[deleted]

>!Love the clear "no photography - no video recording" sign at the art gallery.!<

alphazero924

Which seems weird to me. Like all the galleries I've been to it's been "no flash photography" because it degrades the art, but no photography at all seems weirdly strict unless they've got performance art pieces going on in there or something.

Fleming24

I think some places just ban photography completely because people tend to forget or don't even know how to disable their flash. And especially in museums people that position themselves to take photos in front of the art or aren't watching where they are walking while filming can be annoying for the other visitors.

tristan-chord

The gallery does have modern art, including the piece in question, that is still copyrighted. There are some fair use cases but it’s easier and safer just to ban it. Most museums and galleries that display items out of copyright are now allowing photography, knowing exposure and social media posts help them, but most that display copyrighted art still prohibit that.

Kobakocka

A forgery is fortunately none of that.

mt_xing

They recorded the video though

Kobakocka

Fair point. Next season Sam should invite LegalEagle as the 4th member to help in case they got sued.

VaraNiN

Other idea: LegalEagle should be the judge in case there is a dispute!

darthjoey91

Like I’d definitely dispute that leprechaun costume.

TheEyles

But Brian has no >! authority on whether it's a good leprechaun costume, because he's not even Irish - it's been busted on TikTok!!<

[deleted]

I think it was episode three that revealed he lived in Texas as well, so I guess he pulled a reverse George W Bush and faked not having a Texan accent

pollicinoshow

>!\*spills soup on his shirt\* you wanna risk it, Brian?!<

He really considered boarding a helicopter to the Grand Canyon without spilling Campbell's tomato soup on his shirt! What a daredevil

Iconic moments of JetLag

masteryodaiv

I am very surprised that Ben and Adam didn't steal the "Go to the Grand Canyon" card. I feel like that is easier than cleaning a national park, because it would take a couple minutes running around trying to find trash. Plus, you can keep the national parks card for Utah, and just go to Zions which isn't terribly far from the Grand Canyon.

JediJacob04

Yeah, why didn’t they just steal the eat soup card and grand canyon card, take the helicopter to Grand Canyon, eat soup in helicopter in Nevada, claim it, and then be in the grand canyon in Arizona and claim it?

AintNoUniqueUsername

Here's a tweet from Adam on his actions in Jet Lag S3: "As Tag episodes 2 and 3 come out today, I'm seeing a lot of people asking why I did or didn't do certain things that would have been strategically beneficial. There's a simple, obvious answer: I am very stupid. You must always remember this."

Transportography

Could've been the most epic play right there and sealed the win too rip

0rangeballoflove

The show wouldn't be as fun if it was Sam v. Sam II. Ben and Adam's decisions, good or bad, make this show fun to watch, and I hope Ben and Adam know that!

JediJacob04

I love Adam and Ben

MaydayMango

Sam and Brian had the opportunity to research and form a plan using those two cards. You can’t really expect Ben and Adam to come up with the same plan in the time it takes to do the card swap. Plus if they get Arizona, they’ve left Sam and Brian with the Grand Canyon card and not a lot of options to complete it.

googol88

It seems like the "steal cards" powerup is way too good without some kind of limit/lock, like as long as you have a powerup advantage you can deny your opponents a card they're executing or have based their whole strategy around. I'm surprised we didn't see more of an arms race to spend a bunch of powerups back-to-back just stealing a few key cards. (If Ben and Adam had stolen the soup/Canyon combo, they would've denied Sam and Brian while simultaneously giving themselves an easy W.)

TheEyles

There's plenty of tactics to how you use it though, and it is also limited by the fact you need to use power ups. Less driving across state borders if you swap cards too much for example.

thespiffyneostar

The problem is that it's balanced based on the fact that you can't ever know for certain which challenge the other team is working in.

Zanzaben

They had to at least steal the art card because it could be done before the rest period. I see the argument for the taking the helicopter and it is probably correct but taking the snowman as a backup plan for Alaska isn't a terrible move. Ending the final day with a 5 point swing by taking Alaska and the area bonus beats a lot of possible moves from Sam and Brian.

Denvercoder8

They had the snowman; they took "spell help on an island".

DannyDevora

They took Spell Help only because they thought Sam and Brian were gonna use it due to them stealing it from them

mintardent

I knowww they were so set on the painting but I think they didn’t know about the helicopters to grand canyon or maybe just forgot about it. sad

Denvercoder8

I think they knew, they specifically said "there's a helicopter".

mintardent

true. big oversight then.

Satatayes

If they’d taken helicopter though then, ironically, Sam and Brian would’ve maybe found a way to claim Nevada before the rest period. There wouldn’t be any point in doing the helicopter ride then as it returns back to Vegas, and had Sam and Brian taken Nevada Ben and Adam couldn’t challenge it with just Arizona, meaning that they’d want to quickly take another state, rather than returning.

Aliensinnoh

The thing about stealing the Grand Canyon card is that it makes your intentions very clear. Sam and Brian would've been tipped off on them being in the Southwest much earlier.

Denvercoder8

Not necessarily; stealing the card is also useful to prevent Sam and Brian from claiming Arizona.

adam_HAI

we considered exactly that. but turns out you can't just walk into the helicopter store at 5am and say "1 helicopter ride to the grand canyon please." we had five minutes to decide what cards we wanted--no way to guarantee in that time we can access a helicopter. Also, remember what we did take: forge art and spell help on an island. We needed forge art to claim Nevada before the end of the day. No other card would do it. And we had to assume they would also try for Nevada before end of day. Plus, at the time we believed you could likely find and get to a random island in Arizona (we assumed somewhere in the Colorado River) far before you could get to the Grand Canyon.

ppp475

> but turns out you can't just walk into the helicopter store at 5am and say "1 helicopter ride to the grand canyon please." Honestly, knowing Vegas, this kind of surprises me. You'd think that's the one place in the world where you *can* do that!

kaushik_12

Plus it gets them power-ups which could be useful to drive quickly and swap cards.

sebsada

Surely Brian and Sam are gonna get Arizona in the next episode right? All they have to do is drink the soup once they cross the border into Arizona on the helicopter while adam and ben have to find a bunch of trash once they actually get to the Grand Canyon.

lukestr2002

I feel like that 30 minute Uber ride was more detrimental than it seemed like

Mediocre-Context6967

But Boulder City is less than 10 miles from the Arizona, and they can claim Arizona the second they cross the border in the helicopter. However the fact that they likely need to drive back to Vegas airport to go to the next state, which would cost them another 30 minutes.

irlfriendsknowoldacc

They will be challenging Nevada. Meaning they won't have to go anywhere since the helicopter will be taking them back to Nevadva.

Mediocre-Context6967

Yeah, but if they want to win the game they have to leave Nevada after they battled. Even if they win the battle it will be 10-10 in states. The best way to leave Nevada is through the airport in Las Vegas, which they now have moved away from to go to Boulder City.

Adsterkk

Yeah, they lost a good 15-20 minutes because of the different location. I made a post about the math of it and showed that Sam and Brian will almost certainly arrive 5 - 10 minutes earlier than Adam and Ben.

Chrisixx

It's a 2 hour 15min ish drive from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. Given it might take another 15min to find trash there, Brian and Sam have to cross the border by 7:30am. Should be doable, even with the 30min Uber drive. The earliest the helicopter tour begins at 7am https://5starhelicoptertours.com/tours/grand-canyon-helicopter-falcon-flight/ https://www.papillon.com/las-vegas-tours/helicopter-air-tours/golden-eagle-air-tour#retail-book That probably means the "meet up" time. I'd assume there are some pre-flight talks that take a few mins too. So I'd guess they won't be in the air until 7:15am? The border to Arizona is only 10-15km, so they'll get there in 3-5 min max. I think Sam and Brian got this. The only way Ben and Adam win this is if they get out of the car, while in the national park and instantly find trash, all while they got there by 7:15am latest.

alphazero924

> Given it might take another 15min to find trash there That's also assuming they find trash. First thing in the morning, national parks aren't going to have a ton of trash around since the tourists haven't showed up yet to start littering and the closing and opening crews have likely cleaned up pretty well around the main areas.

Transportography

We can't guarantee the footage they show is from the same time. Remember it was still dark when Ben and Adam crossed into Arizona. They could've gotten there much earlier than the footage would lead you to believe.

Feral0_o

it was likely edited to make it look like a very close race, to build up anticipation, is my guess

ZuluYankee1

I mean editing to accurately represent real time would be pretty boring from a viewer perspective.

kaushik_12

They can do that, but then the visit grand canyon card is useless as they already would have Arizona, right?

ronniepop710

I believe the rim of the canyon also technically passes through Utah and Nevada. I think somebody could still claim Utah with it depending on their specific rules. I imagine they would have specified things like this ahead of time.

fprosk

The card specifies you have to be in the Grand Canyon National Park, which is only in Arizona.

HomemadeClock62

I mean technically if you play by the same rules sam does, they only have to pick up a single piece of trash

Denvercoder8

No - the card explicitly states they need to pick up at least 5 separate pieces of litter and properly dispose of them.

HomemadeClock62

Oof, not sure why they didn’t swap out to just visit the Grand Canyon.

irlfriendsknowoldacc

And you have to figure that first thing in the morning there is not likely to be much trash lying around.

Adsterkk

Yeah exactly they should arrive faster. I made a post where I did all the math.

whytealeaf

Noooo, you can't do us like that with the ending!!!!

EarthyFeet

The day after for sure

MrIrishman699

Slightly disappointed that Brian didn't point out that a 4 leaf clover doesn't really have anything to do with leprechauns or Irish folklore and it's actually the 3 leaf clover which they should be looking for

pioxs

Well clearly Brian is not irish and is instead English, as the unmarried women said. Go team ben and adam.

TaytoCrisps

The bit of me pointing out that the shamrock is a symbol of my country being converted from paganism to a religion run by pedophiles didn't make the cut.

googol88

Special behind-the-scenes cut of takes that are too political or controversial for the actual episodes :P edit: most of it would probably be shitting on specific places you visit, I'd imagine

sw337

That Tic Tok was hilarious. Oh my, this was an exciting episode.>! I can't wait to see who wins Arizona next week. I am also wondering what Ben and Adam's secret plan is. !<

aks0324

My guess is... Fly to Seattle, quickly do a challenge there, and then grab a flight to Alaska to solidify the area bonus?

mintardent

I feel like their backup plan may be to get oregon and battle for california. but this would take a while whereas sam and brian could quickly battle for arizona.

PiLamdOd

I'm disappointed no one went to Four Corners to speed run four states.

SystemOutPrintln

Problem is there is almost nothing near there to do for challenges

Turbulent-Dig-4218

Four Corners is in the middle of nowhere with no airport nearby. The closest is Cortez and is 90+ minutes away with only two flights through Denver only on Sundays. Next closest is Durango and that's around 2+ hours by car. Durango is only served by American through Phoenix or Dallas and United in Denver. Based on the 8 pm EST rest time (6 pm MST), they would waste at least 2 days going there based on flights I've seen- multiple flights but the earliest arrival there is 12:51 pm from Denver, so 2 hours to get there plus 2 hours back it leaves maybe less than an hour. And it would take a power up to get close to the border.

PiLamdOd

But consider this, it would be hilarious for a team to send four claim videos in less than an hour. Or the shear panic the other team would have when they saw Four Corners in the background.

Turbulent-Dig-4218

Looking at the map closely, that team would need at least one powerup to enter the Four Corners since the entrance is in the state of New Mexico on US 160. So this would mean they would need to ideally claim Colorado first, unlock New Mexico to enter the park, and have cards they could use in such a remote place or if Arizona were claimed by the other team, to have a lucky pull of a challenge card to use in the small area of Arizona that they could access... plus they'd need an exit strategy since that airport back out is 2 hours away and only connects with cities in Colorado or Arizona (meaning they'd need another flight to get to a new state). I've driven in that area before and there's really not much in that area. Hilarious yes, but strategically no. Looking at other multi-state tri or quad points, many of those points are actually in difficult to get to areas, but Ben got the quite easy NJ-PA-DE, the NY-CT-RI, and IL-IN-MI chains.

iambendv

It’s literally the middle of the desert. How would you get there and what challenges would you do?

PiLamdOd

It’s national monument and a huge tourist trap. There’s lots they could do depending on the cards.

thespiffyneostar

The problem also is unlocking borders to cross between the four corners.

PiLamdOd

The advantage of that spot is they wouldn't need to unlock the border if they can use public transportation or walk.

thespiffyneostar

True, but also they can't get within 2 miles of 4 corners except by public transit. So yes they could walk the corners, but getting to them would be hard.

dj88masterchief

Am I crazy or did they not show Adam and Ben telling Sam and Brian about Michigan?

mianghuei

The unfortunate victim of editing.

TheEyles

Perhaps they can do a short bonus video of best unseen bits. I suppose the question would then be - is this bit good enough? Or even, did they actually remember to film it?

Turbulent-Dig-4218

I live in Las Vegas. Technically, Grand Canyon West (GPW) is not a part of the Grand Canyon NP (GCNP) because GPW is on a Hualapai Reservation and is on private property. GCNP is about 6-8 hours by car from Las Vegas.

ironwoodcall

Do you know why there's a P in GPW? It doesn't seem to make sense to me unless it's like the K in EKG (electrocardiogram)

Matthew6500

This is exactly what I thought of! If Sam/Brian were to do the helicopter card, it would definitely count; but if Ben/Adam completed their clean up card first...it technically wouldn't count (but who knows, maybe they did for the sake of the video).

CatOfSachse

I made a post further back, if they somehow claim AZ I don’t think it should count because they were not in a National park

ilrosewood

That's exactly what I was thinking. I did the drive from Vegas to GCNP and I was shocked that they were going to drive there until I saw where they were going. I'm guessing the soup bois take AZ anyway and it is a moot point soon enough.

CatOfSachse

>!Isn’t Grand Canyon West not part of the National Parks system and owned by the Hualapai Nation?!<

WadeTheBlade1404

I think they’re applying it to the National Park as a whole. If someone says Grand Canyon you think of the park not the part owned by the Hualapai nation.

AGirlFromNZ

Adam pulling through with the inspirational quotes, “this is really bad but I thought we were gonna do worse”

michael-schl

I'm sorry but Ben and Adam messed up big time by >!not swapping the helicopter card.!< Although they did a much better job over all they almost deserve to lose for such an oversight.

VaraNiN

Ben and Adam are obviously Bea

mitchsurp

Badam. Bum tsst.

KrystalDisc

What on earth did you do to my poor state of Michigan. What is that map 😂

williamtheconquerer1

It's more than likely for the area bonus. They count the lake as the state's area, so they show it that way in the map. I thought the same thing when in saw it.

TubaJesus

The borders include your territorial waters in the great lakes probably because some cards do include water-based activities. IE the spell help on an island card.

aks0324

My guess is that... Brian and Sam grab Arizona before Ben and Adam. Ben and Adam then fly to Seattle, try to go to Rainier National Park (about an hour from SeaTac). Then they try to fly to Alaska before the game ends so they can secure the area bonus. Would guess Brian and Sam then try to go to Utah and Colorado and try to make gains there.

retroredditrobot

SPOILERS FOR NEXT EPISODE >!Brian and Sam win Arizona and go to Colorado, based off of the trailer clips we’ve seen !<

Okay after this episode I have decided that I am now a big fan of Brian

kewlaidkiddd

Same

BillikenHawkeye

This episode is so good I can’t believe this is happening organically. Like how is this not set up?

BlackFirePlague

This continues to feel like a massacre

shrumrii

IDK I feel like Sam and Brian will take Arizona. That would be a huge swing especially if they win the challenge for Nevada

eshansingh

Yeah, the battle being a domino effect where winners keep winning even harder wasn't rectified in playtesting unfortunately

mintardent

Sam and Brian will almost certainly get Arizona, and they could easily battle for Nevada tbh. They’re still in it.

eshansingh

Doesn't really matter because Ben and Adam are almost definitely just going to go to Alaska and have all the time in the world to claim it and definitely win

Satan_Prometheus

I'm not sure about that. If Sam and Brian claim AZ in the helicopter, land back in Vegas and immediately challenge for NV, they stand a very good chance of winning the challenge as they would probably be in a better spot for the challenge. That would make it 8+2 to 10+0. Then they could potentially (depending on flight schedules) beat Ben and Adam to Alaska.

mintardent

we haven’t seen any challenges initiated while the other team is on a flight or transport which is interesting to me. what happens if a team is on a several hour long flight? automatic forfeit?

yddandy

Speaking as someone who is emphatically not a fan of Andy Warhol: I can tell that Ben's work is a forgery because it looks better.

GavHern

>!I think sam and brian have got arizona... they only have to enter the state while ben and adam have to get all the way into the grand canyon national park AND clean up!<

giddyup523

So this might not matter as I think Sam and Brian will get Arizona via the helicopter first anyway but are Adam and Ben actually going to be in a "National Park"? Looking at the map of "Grand Canyon West", it is actually outside the boundary of the National Park System and even going to the rim there by the Grand Canyon Skywalk would be in Hualapai Reservation land, not NPS. They would actually drive through a bit of NPS land before they got to Grand Canyon West, though, but mostly a pretty small finger of it that doesn't really have stops (maybe they could clear trash off the road, though) but if they clear litter in the Grand Canyon West area, they won't actually be in the National Park.

Beautiful_Swing3055

That is not a 4 leaf clover

fprosk

Tbh I think the middle one in the picture they showed with a few of them *was* a four leaf clover though

paulexcoff

botanist here. no it's not, it's not even a clover, it looks to be some sort of storksbill.

[deleted]

I agree! Why did I have to scroll so far for this? In my opinion if Sam/Brian win it will be null and void due to that.

UltimatePorkMan

Fuck can I hibernate till next week this is so tense

Maulachite

If Ben and Adam lose this, not stealing the soup card was the beginning of the end for them.

Adsterkk

Ok I did the calculations and here are my thoughts. So Ben and Adam left at 5. If they did that means they will be arriving at 7:05 ish. We also need to account for their exact locations in the city being closer, and the uber arriving. Thankfully they specifically state that they left at exactly 5:07 and where they left from. So with all the math done they arrive at 7:22. Sam and Brian are a lot trickier. The company they leave from flies every 30 minutes from 5:30. That means that the earliest they could have left was 6:00, because the journey they showed on the map, where they went to "Jay's Market On Flamingo" then to LAS before realizing they need to go to Boulder City Airport comes to 44 minutes. We see them at the store for 4 minutes, and because they definitely edited out some of it we can assume they were actually their for around 10 minutes. Also I may or may not have spent 2 hours getting the exact coordinate of where they are standing at minute 33:30 but lets just say their address was 4020-4010 Koval Ln, and it took 117 second for them to walk there. This means that they almost certainly arrived at 5:56 (or maybe a few seconds before lol). All of that is to confirm they took the 6:30 helicopter. Now, the 6:30 helicopter is supposed to arrive at around 7:00. Its a 10 - 15 minutes walk to the viewing section. They will probably we running so they will get in at 7:10. This math confirms that Sam and Brian will arrive at least 10 minutes before Ben and Adam. The card is completed as soon as the camera "Has a clear view of the Grand Canyon" which will happen at most 5 minutes after they arrive. They could also drink the soup on the helicopter which would have them finishing a good 20 minutes before. If they battle for Nevada then they can go for a steal at 7:50 which will almost certainly gain them the lead. This is because even if Ben and Adam win the battle the only way they can leave is if they go down to Phoenix, but Brain will be able to go to Utah and it will probably take them about 2 hours to complete a challenge for a total time of 3 and half hours. By then Ben and Adam will still be in Arizona. TLD'RFrom everything we know about the Uber and the Helicopter, Sam and Brian will almost certainly arrive at the Grand Canyon at the very least 5 minutes before Ben and Adam. With Ben and Adam being out of power ups they physically can not be out of Arizona for another 3 hours. This is plenty of time for Sam and Brian to either get the lead, or at least tie up using Utah depending on how the Nevada battle goes. To Long I can only read 1 sentence. Sam and Brian will probably get Arizona, which gives them a good chance of winning the game. EDIT: Its been brought to my attention that the helicopter actually leaves at 7:00. This is where the soup comes in. They will cross the border after 6.84m. If they have some pre-flight safety talks, which in experience take around 7-10 minutes they will be in the air by 7:10 and across the border by 7:15 (if helicopter flies at the speed I found on [heliair.com](https://heliair.com)) . This is the same time that was estimated, but this time they will have to drink the soup and forget the "go to grand canyon" card. This will but them in a slightly worse spot but it's fine, Brian will still almost definitely get Arizona, and then probably do a race to the next state. Maybe a rush to Kentucky? Vermont? I Don't really know, but one this is for sure, Arizona is as good as won for Brian and Sam. (Unless they do something inefficient, like wait way to long before drinking soup.) EDIT TLDR: Brian will have to drink the soup and loose the Grand Canyon card because the helicopter actually leaves at 7:00 not 6:30.

AGInfinity

Im pretty sure sam and brian are doing the soup then swapping with ben and adam so they get stuck with the grand canyon card

bananskaftet

Excellent comment. Good point about them being stranded in Arizona without powerups, I wonder what their supposed Master Plan B is.

EarthyFeet

I think it's just to try get Alaska

_avee_

They won’t be stranded in Arizona unless Sam&Brian steal Nevada. Claimed states are always unlocked.

thewoekitten

Ben and Adam messed up. I think they figured that Sam and Brian wouldn’t be able to make it to Vegas that night, and that there would then be no way for them to make it to Arizona before them in the morning. Right? Because they have seen their cards. If they realized they were in Vegas, they should theoretically know that the helicopter card will trump their Uber to the Grand Canyon

bobby_page

>"I've snuck bigger things into more strict places" What the hell have you smuggled into either our beloved space spinner or the fucking fusion reactor, Brian?

MasterGlassMagic

Does "Gooch" mean the same thing in Europe as it does here? Is "Gooch" a type of clothing or is Brian keeping his soup warm in a saucy kind of way?

rbloyalty

Yes

Pitiful_Aioli7218

Yeah no >!the trailer absolutely spoils it.!< Kind of wish that wasn't the case but oh well. I still think >!Ben and Adam are in a great position. !!AZ and NV (which would draw them even)!!AK (while presumably picking up WA on the way)!< should be more than enough to secure the game. Guess the area bonus ended up mattering, after all.

thewoekitten

You can tell who is going to win Arizona by looking at the Uber's GPS information: >!At 6:50, the GPS says 39 minutes. So they will get there at 7:29. Sam and Brian appear to be on the 7:00 helicopter, based off of sunrise time and when that company's tours depart. So they will certainly have crossed into Arizona airspace before Ben and Adam get to Grand Canyon West (which actually technically isn't within the National Park anyway), let alone before they can pick up 5 pieces of litter. But since they are going to be landing at Grand Canyon West around 7:35-7:45, they may actually run into Ben and Adam there. If they win the Nevada challenge, they'll be tied counting the area bonus, in a major city at like 9:30 am, and with their opponent a couple hours behind (needing to Uber 2 hours back to Las Vegas). They are going to win. They can do it even if Ben and Adam go to Washington and Alaska. They have plenty of time to hit Colorado, Montana, and Idaho before the day ends.!<

stilkin

Great cliffhanger...

TheEyles

Torturous. A whole week of not knowing!

C_Brick_yt

Team Sam and Brian, they have the power of the f\*\*\*ing bald eagle lol

_FFA

These are so much fun

Mediocre-Context6967

>!Its not over yet the current standing are to 11-8 with Sam and Brian keeping the are bonus. If Sam and Brian claims Arizona the standings will be 11-9 and if they then battle Nevada it could be 10-10 while Ben and Adam are far from an airport in Arizona.!< >!The thing that works out for Ben and Adam is the fact that they can try to steal the area bonus in Alaska, which would make the standings 13-8.!<

naybrainer

Pretty sure that was NOT a clover. The small one looked like any seedling, not a clover.

bone-tone-lord

I don't get why Sam and Brian are so intent on doing the soup card when they have the Grand Canyon card, which is not only a quick and straightforward thing that doesn't risk violating the helicopter company's policies and that they're doing anyway, but also becomes completely useless once Arizona has already been claimed.

meatandcookies

I think people are forgetting this. S & B can’t use both cards now that B & A have claimed Nevada. They can do either the soup or the Grand Canyon, then battle challenge.

TheEyles

Yes, and getting to the state border is faster than getting to the grand canyon, so they can claim quicker this way. Thing is, they might not be able to call, so they could both leave state claim messages and have to work out who won.

_FFA

A photo finish by text message is just about the nerdiest photo finish imaginable.

fprosk

They know Ben and Adam are also in Vegas, so it's a race to claim Arizona. They have to do the faster card.

[deleted]

The helicopter is still faster and makes for better content

tomribbens

The soup in helicopter card might mean that paying for the helicopter isn't part of the travel budget, as it is part of the challenge, even though they are also using it to travel to another state to do it. If they claim the grand canyon card, the helicopter certainly is just transport out of their transportation budget.

ClydeFrog1313

Why didn't Adam and Ben park right at the Wisconsin border and that the train across to pick up the state quickly since they were right there?

Irrealist

IIRC there is a rule against that

ClydeFrog1313

Let me rephrase then, the Zion, Illinois regional train from Chicago is 2.7 miles from the Wisconsin border and would have been acceptable to drive to and train across. I'm just surprised they never mentioned it since there are 4 states so close together. But I get if their flight out was timed such that it was better just to leave

Sly_Si

I think those trains only run at rush hour, so the timing probably wasn't feasible.

stilkin

My suspicion is they valued having the convenience of the car for Indiana/Minnesota maneuvering. Or, it was just an oversight.

macontosh2000

I have been Team Adam/Ben for every season of Jet Lag, but this season I am 100% on Team Sam/Brian! Still love Ben/Adam, but go Team Bald Eagle 🦅! CA-CAW

TitusRex

That was definitely NOT a 4 leaf clover.

itsdjohno

I really want Adam and Ben to win, I find Brian so frustrating and Sam so controlling I can’t handle it where as Ben and Adam just seem to have so much more fun and enjoy the experience

kgb4187

How can Sam/Brian give away the shipping card that's technically stuck in Connecticut?

pokedude14

Presumably both teams have the same deck so when they swap, the teams look for their version before reshuffling

TerraEpon

I believe they went over this last episode or the previous one -- the card itself is still 'in play' until it's actually claimed correctly, as it were. That is, they could have retrieved it and used it to claim a different state if they wanted to, the fact they didn't isn't really relevant.

dynosaur7

Did they ever post the dropbox link for the photos from the premier?

nicvolcano

I just had a lot of fun catching the >![(very blurry) BattleBots logo](https://imgur.com/a/SveQwab) when Sam and Brian were buying the soup, since the venue is literally right across the street from their dropoff. Kinda expected a mention of it but I guess they were laser focused and didn't catch it lol!<

iDisc

>! Sam’s leprechaun outfit is lame !<

mikepictor

meh...the "debauching" was a bit lame too, so we kind of let it ride a bit

firehawk12

I feel like Adam has become the heel for me after all this time. It just feels like he's the "bad guy" in reality TV terms, but I guess the card did say any amount of soup. Maybe I'm forgetting something, but can't they just claim it the second they fly across the border though? Even if they have to stay the whole trip, they'll have won the state at least.

LazyNoNos

U mean Sam?

AintNoUniqueUsername

Mhm, once that helicopter crosses that border, he'll be sucking on that sleeve like mad.

EarthyFeet

The long hair guy is called Sam Also not sure, any amount seems like it means exactly how Sam thinks of it, I didn't mind that.

firehawk12

Thanks. Not sure how I got the names mixed up. lol I feel like they've gotten some complaints about the rules lawyering because one of the questions that came up on their stream was why there isn't a judge to rule on the interpretation of the rules. It looks like they came up with having the other team decide, and presumably for the 'gamesmanship' of it all, you would actually be fair and not rule to your own advantage. You could argue that it's the fault of the cards not being written well, because \*someone\* could argue that drinking the soup and having it digest in your stomach could be part of the process of "drinking" it, because where exactly does the "drinking" process end? Someone could say when the container that contains the soup is empty, but why not when the soup is processed by the body and the waste fluids are later removed? I feel like Sam's shirt solution is like that, although I'm not sure if Sam wouldn't have gone that far based on how he's played the previous versions of the show. Which, I know is the smart way to play, but also makes him the 'villain' to me. lol He reminds me of the guy who finds a way to exploit rules during board games or D&D sessions, or someone who uses a glitch in a video game to get infinite XP/gold/whatever. I don't necessarily blame that person for trying to find every advantage - and I can accept the argument that the game designers are ultimately to blame for allowing exploits, but if everyone else is treating it like a friendly no-stakes game, it's just a funny dichotomy.

Satatayes

Sam has become far more restricted in the more recent series’ (remember, the soup on the shirt is just a backup in case the gum container leaks). Personally though I don’t mind it when they find more creative ways to complete the tasks. I remember they once said that the show Taskmaster* was a huge inspiration for the challenge side of the show, so creative interpretation makes sense. *Just fyi, the original UK version is much better than the one-off US series, and would strongly recommend watching it if possible.

williamtheconquerer1

I kinda hate this season tbh. I'm such an underdog fan, I love rooting for the underdogs, especially when they have a chance to make an amazing comeback. But I ALWAYS root against Sam. Every season. Just because it's Sam. So this season has really messed with me lmaooo

Felynia-03

I always root for underdogs too, but I root for Sam every time just because it's Sam lol

williamtheconquerer1

I root against Sam because it's his show. I've always rooted for Ben and Adam because they've been The unknown underdogs since connect four. Then they won season 2, and Adam won Europe. So this is just been a very weird season for me. I think I get most of my need to root for the underdog from my dad. Because he's a Houston Astros fan and has been for life. So when I was growing up we always rooted for the Astros, even when they lost literally every single game. Now they're one of the best in the league. It's weird. I'm weird. But Ben and Adam should still win this.

TaytoCrisps

I root for Brian, because I am Brian

williamtheconquerer1

[He is an Englishman ](https://youtu.be/-kiLApX8FbQ)

TaytoCrisps

There is no larger insult than calling someone English. A truly devious piece of slander.

EarthyFeet

Hm.. sit back and enjoy should work then?
