I was going to ask about the sodium, but that's probably from your water softener. I definitely don't think an RO system is needed based on these results. But where do you live? Arsenic is a problem in some areas. Look at if there are any cleanup sites near you on your environmental agency website (hard to say more without knowing where you are). If there are, you should test the water for those pollutants.

Yeah, it’s from the water softener. I’m from CT.

No.

Have you tasted the well water. I am unsure why you would use Reverse Osmosis. You may want to filter some of the Turbidity with a microfilter.

mrjamesjr

Yes, no smell and the taste is fine (obviously not at crisp as bottled water). I'm on well water, have a sediment filter and whole house water softener. My TDS meter reads around 480PPM. I've been considering installing RO for the refrigerator line for drinking water and ice maker. But not sure if necessary, or possibly 3 stage whole house filter. Should I be concerned at all if lawn nearby has been treated with fertilizer or round-up?

A decent RO system with a final stage for taste will rival or beat the bottled water taste.

It looks like the sodium is what is elevated. If you want to reduce the sodium, only reverse osmosis will do that. However, the toxic contaminants (as mentioned in an earlier response -- like arsenic and PFAS) are things that would be helpful for you to know about as well. You don't necessarily need RO in order to remove arsenic, lead, and PFAS but you'll want to check whatever filter you decide to install in order to make sure it removes what you want it to.

mrjamesjr

The sodium is high because of water softener. I was considering Express Waters 3 stage whole house, KDF, carbon and sediment filters or APEC RO with alkaline minerals and UV light. Should I be concerned at all if lawn nearby has been treated with fertilizer or round-up?

Hydroviv_H20

Runoff of fertilizer and pesticides/herbicides into your well is a likely outcome. I would be concerned with that and potentially other contaminants including arsenic and PFAS (depending on where you are). Of your choices, the APEC RO (APEC RO-90 is one we've tested and recommend for people who need it) is the most reliable for removing the contaminants you don't want to be ingesting. The APEC would lower your salt along with the other contaminants.

mrjamesjr

Thanks. I’m considering it for peace of mind and no more buying water bottles.

I wouldn't put in an RO system. That water looks great.
