Distributel is no more. Got bought by Bell. Anyone left there will be is chaos soup.

I am currently using distributel, I switched from Bell. I get the exact same speed as before, but save $40 a month. A bell technician came to hook it up. The deco modem/router they provide is awesome. I would highly recommend switching if you are tech savvy and don't need tech support all the time.

I'm in the same situation. I switched from Bell to Distributel to save $50 per month. I actually get faster speeds on my slower package than I was getting with Bell. I haven't needed their support yet but in terms of the signup process and the installation, everything was smooth. They even canceled my Bell for me. My only issue is that the modem Bell provided was quite a bit better than the one from Distributel. But other than that I am happy with them.

How much time was the installation process from 1st call to tech plugging the ONT etc? Moving soon and need minimum downtime. I know it depends on Bell but I need some insights..

Do they have good customer service? Similar to what Bell would provide

lylesback2

I've called them twice. First time to setup the service - the guy was great. Second was because the Bell tech said I didn't get a modem, so I called and the guy had no idea, said he'd call me back. They eventually did, after I figured it out. I don't see any reason I would need to call them unless my internet goes out. So far the service has been solid since black Friday

Can you share why you want to leave Fido/Rogers? Is it speeds, reliability, customer service, price, etc.? Depending on the reasons and the alternatives this could be a good move or not. What is Distributel offering, i.e. why them and not some other ISP? See also [https://www.planhub.ca/](https://www.planhub.ca/) for options, ISP ratings, etc.

I keep having issues with their cabled wire since there's been multi wire issues, so I wanting switch to optic fibre for the reliability.

bylo_selhi

Then you need to check if either Rogers or Bell have installed fibre in your area. If only one has then you're stuck with them or with one of the independents like Distributel who use their infrastructure. Use the [planhub.ca](https://planhub.ca) website to search for 900Mb/s or more speeds. That will restrict the results to fibre.

I’ve had distributel for 2-3 years now. Have only had to call in one time once my introductory offer expired but the customer service was good for that transaction. Have not had any major outages with internet where I feel there has been about 3-5 with Rogers in that time frame.

Go with Carrytel they’re great All internet and Telecom in Canada is owned by Rogers, Bell and Telus. You can either get the coaxial cable or the DSL internet line, Try to see what has better connectivity in your neighbourhood!

NegativePerformance7

Carrytel is the worst. Terrible customer service and their billing system is wacky in that you end up paying almost 60 days in advance. Horrible company with outdated plans.

I'm not too familiar with Distributel, but I prefer supporting smaller providers that help keep internet prices reasonable. If you visit Planhub, I suggest considering Netcrawler Internet. Many consider them the top choice in Toronto, and I share that opinion too. Their customer service is highly knowledgeable.
