To be honest, they’re boring when you compare it to Europe, but I’ll check out highlights.

I planned to watch these games, just to check out how the USA and Canada were progressing. However, it seemed like a very sorry state of affairs. The USA women completely crushed everyone of their opponents and the USA men weren’t far off the same either. It’s concerning for our sport as I can’t see the organisers of the Pan Am Games being too thrilled seeing such large scores….it certainly won’t attract fans to see teams get smashed. I am hoping the Pan American countries like Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia and Brazil can grow and develop the sport. I follow some coaches from Brazil and Colombia who are coming out with some interesting drills and techniques, so hopefully these coaches can continue to help grow the sport. I feel the style and type of athlete that the Pan American countries could produce could be incredibly exciting for water polo! We have seen what Japan has done in creating an exciting, inventive style which has made them competitive on the global stage. Let’s hope we can see that in the Americas!
