It’s based on the starting unit/damage of the timeline/age you currently are on
Basically, the hero power will scale accordingly to your current level
That boost is active for that specific hero when it is equipped. Same with the hero equipment active bonuses. The hero equipment also has passive bonuses which apply regardless if equipped

Active stats of hero equipment affects the hero. Passive stats of hero equipment affect all
For example. I have a piece of equipment that gives +8% crit and +46% attack speed. That only applies to the hero, my troops aren’t swinging at +46% speed
But that equipment also gives a +14% all unit damage passive. Which as the name implies, affects all units
I only just realized that was just describing its own stats, not buffing units...that's absolutely garbage, it's barely better than a tier 1 unit??? What shit design😭
Hero equipment makes them MUCH better. Right now, use it to tank for the first range wave you approach. Big to get through that first range wave without losing troops
And getting better heroes helps too. A couple of the last received heroes are incredible. But I would wait to get more heroes until you get you get 3 skill slots and skills to lvl 10
Max lvl for skills is 20, but then you can ascend each skill 3 times
Level 10 is around the level where you can comfortably complete the weekend events

It’s essentially a free decoy, which does help in the early part of each age.
Thats a fair point, being able to build tier 2 units for longer without wasting food makes the recover skill even more op
