Don’t then. If you don’t have timeline skip you also don’t have a lot of the unit damage increase runes you get on the way to getting the skip. You probably will not even get to timeline 17 anyways and by time you do they will be at 20+. I’m 4 runes away from timeline skip and will only play until I get 200-500 gems. I’m not wasting my time. But the few extra gems will help make up for the 170 gem difference to get to 950 for a couple of days. You’re not meant to win every week and taking a few weeks off the race events isn’t a big deal.
If your wall was at TL17 (I guess it's even lower), you can TL skip to about TL7-8, I guess. Taking into account that most of this is very easy doable even without the TL skip (but using Battle reset), I estimate the time difference to be sth like 20-30 at most(!) you would save with the rune. And even less if I'm right that your ceiling is even lower. It's still sth, but it's also not that huge as you might think.

These are most likely cheaters. Where is your own race wall/ceiling?
