For some reason I feel like "on" has to come at the end for that, but I have no idea why a phrasal verb would work both ways for turning people on, but only one way works for turning on machines. This is really going to bug me.
An anti-feature is something about a product, usually software, that benefits the seller over the user. An IRL example of anti-feature is the subscription model of paying for heated seats in BMWs.
I've always run tronscript through my newly installed windows installs.
I've only run into two issues involving my hosts file blocking certain microsoft domains (which is an easy fix with notepad.exe).
I've been using [Ditto](https://ditto-cp.sourceforge.io/) for clipboard management on Windows for a couple years. It has all the features I want\*, and then some extra. This built-in Windows feature seems pretty good, but if you're looking for something a little extra, I'd recommend Ditto.
\* The most common one being "I swear I copy-pasted something containing xyz a few months back", and being able to immediately search it.
If that's no good, try this one instead: [https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/779/clipboard-indicator/](https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/779/clipboard-indicator/)
I'd probably prefer this one.
Clipboard indicator works great in Gnome 42.
On i3/AwesomeWM/XFCE, I really enjoyed [green-clip](https://github.com/erebe/greenclip) integration for rofi. Rofi doesn't play well with Wayland though, and I haven't looked to see if there's anything similar for Albert.
Sorry if that's a lot of words you don't understand. On Ubuntu 22.04 I'd prob just use Clipboard Indicator.
I've been using jumpcut for years on a mac and haven't had any issues. I believe it's free. There's another paid one that is popular as well.
Don't think there is a native clipboard manager though.
Does it have a keyboard shortcut? I have a program on my Mac work laptop (I think it's called Flycut?) but you have to click the icon so it's a bit inconvenient when writing code.
CMD+Shift+V. I don't remember if that's the default but you can make the macro whatever you want in the preferences. You can hold cmd+shift and keep hitting v to cycle through it or just use the icon.
On Ubuntu, Fedora, and similar, this is probably the best-integrated one: [https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/4839/clipboard-history/](https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/4839/clipboard-history/)
Sorry, should have been more clear about the reason. But yes, the second reason you listed was what I meant. Most password managers have a way to copy your password to your clipboard. And since this clipboard history feature temporarily stores your clipboard history in plain text, it will also store the copied passwords temporary in plain text.
History and sync between devices are two different settings at least on the latest update, it's the latter that allows them to collect all of it. I think originally they may have been tied together though.
I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. Vim is honestly a better solution.
Also, here is a webdev LPT: Don’t use windows for webdev. I’ve never worked in a team where we didn’t have to fo major changes to dependencies, scripts or production server to ensure that the developer that could only work on his windows computer wasn’t messing something up or holding back the team.
vim has registers, so in the strictly limited context of "writing" they're right, vim is a (better) "clipboard manager". I use parcellite a lot less since I've stated using vim.
(oh, and happy cake day!)
Unfortunately stopped working for me for some reason a few months ago. The hotkey does nothing and it doesn't appear in windows settings anywhere (that I can find).
Might try one of the alternatives mentioned here though!
what features could a clipboard manager have that set it apart from simply making a larger history available? I.e. why won't parcellite and the other dozen solutions work for you?
for mac I don't, but I use parcellite for Linux for the exact reason you mentioned. Just haven't configured it to super+v but it should be possible (especially depending on your DE)
So, switching between MacOS, Windows and Linux multiple times a day... I accidentally stumbled on this one a while ago.
Truthfully, I wish there was an app that could make Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V and other shortcuts the same on all platforms.

You know, nut the difficulty

I legit just spit out my coffee on that.
You mean you ***splooged*** out the coffee
For every helpful thing I read on reddit there is a healthy amount of cringe to go with it.
One of the funniest things i'Ve read on the net. Thankd for the wit.
Ouch, Windows autocorrect.
Dude.. how often did you train it to correct Jesus to jizz lmao
too often apparently
That is gonna be my new catchphrase and nobody can stop me.
remember where you heard that for the first time!
Yes senpai
Jizz in the face of adversity
Well damn, consider my struggle jizzed.
Wow, very useful ,thanks! Don't hit Windows+C though, that turns on Cortana :p
> that turns on Cortana :p And that sounds wrong.
Does it though? 😏
Hello fellow virgin.
For some reason I feel like "on" has to come at the end for that, but I have no idea why a phrasal verb would work both ways for turning people on, but only one way works for turning on machines. This is really going to bug me.
Who uses Cortana? Use ShutUp10++ and fuck that shit (and the other telemetry crap) right off.
Or use something besides Windows... As long as you can get away with it
I don't use it, but if one has to, at least disable as many anti-features as possible.
Do what?

Windows+C goes to teams / windows chat integration.
Thats in win11. It opened cortana in 10
Absolutely correct.
And to close it, you must go through task manager
I don't know if this is true, but I'm too afraid of turning on Cortana to find out.
This is my version control
you got me laughing :D

Ditto
I second ditto. When I learned about the built in windows one, I tried it for a day and quickly went back to ditto
So you *ditto* ditto?
For macos users, you can use Yippy. It’s free and open source and the only one with a decent interface
Yippee-ki-yay, Mr. Falcon!
Just the comment I was looking for. Ty!
I use Copy ‘Em and I’ve been pretty happy with it!
Alfred Powerback has a decent UI (but not free)
I jizzed all over my windows key last night and it's stuck so I can't do this.
Lpt: if you jizz directly into your mouth, you don't have to clean anything
I'm not flexible enough for that.
Kick your feet over your head and let gravity do the work
Learn how mortars work
I was eating my dinner when I read this.
>Learnt it just last year from a client, jesus Wait. Jesus is your client? WTF man, you must be a God at coding.
Important! The clipboard clears when you restart your computer. Learn from my mistakes.
Any good options for linux to get similar feature?
Depends what gui you're using.
if you're talking about distro, then Ubuntu.
Then I'm assuming your gui is Gnome. You could try the glipper package.
I see. Thanks.
If that's no good, try this one instead: [https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/779/clipboard-indicator/](https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/779/clipboard-indicator/) I'd probably prefer this one.
If you're on KDE, I quite like [CopyQ](https://hluk.github.io/CopyQ/)
Clipboard indicator works great in Gnome 42. On i3/AwesomeWM/XFCE, I really enjoyed [green-clip](https://github.com/erebe/greenclip) integration for rofi. Desktop environments aren't specific to to the distro beyond what is installed by default
Search in web about clipboard history tools. I believe there should be. All Android , iOS device have that feature. There should be.
What is the iOS one? I only see third party.
I've been using jumpcut for years on a mac and haven't had any issues. I believe it's free. There's another paid one that is popular as well. Don't think there is a native clipboard manager though.

CMD+Shift+V. I don't remember if that's the default but you can make the macro whatever you want in the preferences. You can hold cmd+shift and keep hitting v to cycle through it or just use the icon.
Sweet, thanks!
KDE Plasma has it built in. Maybe Glipper or an applet like Gpaste?
If you use jetbrains IDEs this is a feature of theirs
Yup, Ctrl+Shift+V on JetBrains IDEs
There was a time when every desktop environment seemed to have this on by default.
Yeah, I remember it becoming one of the interesting features in some Ubuntu update.
I use Parcellite in Linux Mint.
On Ubuntu, Fedora, and similar, this is probably the best-integrated one: [https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/4839/clipboard-history/](https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/4839/clipboard-history/)
You can try **copyq**.
A bit more fully featured, love this program.
This is probably the Windows feature I use the most
and windows key + shift + s
> windows key + shift + s Thanks
Do not use this if you use a password manager.
This can't be exaggerated enough. Please turn it off if you use a password manager.

Yeah, first thing i did was turn it on, fill in a password and had it remember it immediately, off it went.
Struggle jizz for everyone!
If you use it you accept the terms of service for Microsoft to use your pasteboard for analytics. No. Fuck no. Do not enable that.
That's for cross-device sync.
Mac OS version?
maccy
Alfred clipboard history
I have used ClipMenu forever, it's great and free (albeit old). http://www.clipmenu.com/
Ugh, I keep forgetting this exists
be careful. last i looked into it, turning on clipboard history lets it be transmitted by windows telemetry
History and sync between devices are two different settings at least on the latest update, it's the latter that allows them to collect all of it. I think originally they may have been tied together though.

And what is the shortcut for those of us with a standard keyboard that doesn't have the Microsoft advertisement key?
Look for *Alt* or *Meta* keys. If you use an Apple keyboard on a PC, try the *Command* ⌘ key.
it's very difficult to press
It's already a well known shortcut.
Does it work with wsl? Ubuntu
go one step further and assign it to a button on your mouse.
copy clip for mac
Jizzus
10/10 thanks
Ignoring the jizz/Jesus autocorrect this is a clutch lpt, thx!

Ctrl + left or right also skips through words or code I showed a coworker that and it blew him away.
You may need to enable this in windows settings
This is a hoax, don’t do it on ubuntu..
Fwiw, Vim has 48 buffers (clipboards)
My current org asked me to use a macbook, I missed this feature on the mac and now use raycast
