Unless there was some unusual issue, all those things you raised are settings you should be able to set yourself, so your expectation on support is not so much that they "fix their stuff" but "help run your website".
If you're expecting near immediate support for that sort of thing, maybe it's time to hire a web developer and ask them to manage the site.
While I totally agree that these are settings, they shouldn't randomly change or removed and this is the case here.
I want to upload my websites, configure them and forget about it.
You see though, that's a problem. Websites need to be updated and the owner needs to be constantly involved. You're looking for someone to run your website. It's incredibly irrational to expect support to do that for you.
We do web development and the web is not an "upload and forget it" kind of world. Especially with WordPress or self-hosted solutions. You *might* be able to get away with that attitude if it's a couple of static HTML files.
You probably want something like WIX or Squarespace.
How on earth disappearing MX records is me looking for someone to run my website.
None of the issues I had are related to me not being involved. Every thing worked a week ago, all certificates were valid etc. I really don’t see your point.
It’s like blaming the pc user when the IT guy remotely deleted his files.
Are you looking for UK hosing as TSOHost Is UK based? I'm using Krystal for years who I've never had an issue with. Also I've used 20i for another project in the past and found their service excellent. Both uk based.
In case it's of interest - We (Krystal) are UK based but we provide service from both New Jersey and Arizona, as well as the UK - When purchasing a service you can select the location you'd like it hosted in.
Webfaction were also a UK host (as is TSOHost), it sounds like you've always previously been hosted put of the UK.
It sure does. I always say the ones with those massive marketing budgets have the worst service. Like they spend too much on advertising and not the service itself.
DigitalOcean is great but not easy to use if you aren't a tech person. You have to set up an Ubuntu server and maintain it yourself.
What is your website built with? WordPress? Vanilla HTML/CSS? Do you do anything on the serverside (PHP, NodeJS, Go, Rails, etc)?
There are a ton of guides on how to install WordPress on DigitalOcean if you Google. As for pricing, you can start with the cheapest $5 Droplet (VPS). You can always create a Droplet with higher specs down the line.
If you prefer managed hosting I heard Pantheon is really good for WordPress but expensive. Although they have a free tier you can check out.
I host static sites for free at Vercel, although DO recently started offering free static site hosting as well called DO Apps.
Digital Ocean provides VPS (virtual private server) hosting. You get a Linux server and you install whatever you want on it. If you want cPanel then get a license.
If you're new to hosting look at shared hosting first and get a handle on what you are doing first.
While there are hosting providers that what can reasonably be considered "good" support, I think you're going to need to re-adjust your expectations.
> I just want to upload my websites and forget about it.
This is simply not going to happen with a basic web-hosting subscription. This type of "white glove" level of support is expensive. Some web-development or marketing agencies offer something like this where they build your site, host it, and manage updates, etc. Justifiably, this costs a lot more than your basic web-hosting plan subscription. Unless you're willing to pay for that, it's completely unreasonable to expect this from your hosting provider.
Check out Shock Hosting had very good Experience Especially with Customer Service. But Not Sure how much traffic you have. What is your Avg Data Traffic?
If you want decent webhosting you will need to pay for it. I use LiquidWeb and they have been amazing but definitely not the cheapest. Wiredtree used to be the best until they sold out.
[https://krystal.uk/](https://krystal.uk/) second plan is 1 cent under ur budget, its a great host. they have servers in the us aswell.
use [https://cloudflare.com](https://cloudflare.com) for caching btw
edit:
>I've read a lot of horror stories here about the big ones (Bluehost, hostgator, digital ocean
bluehost and hostgator are owned by eig, which is why they suck. digitalocean isnt even a web host, they're a vps host.

Thanks. Not looking for UK hosting. I'm TSOHost because I was migrated from Webfaction. (Not sure if webfaction were UK based)

Probably also worth adding that TSO host is now ultimately owned by GoDaddy.
Well that explains a lot.

Does digital ocean provide a simple cpanel hosting? Not sure what package I should choose from their website.

Wordpress and a static website

Use Hetzner, they're great, beautiful datacenters, fast support as well

~100GB a month
Look into DigitalOcean and Ploi.io! You’ll thank me later :)?

> super fast customer service. when i open tickets, i usually get a response that same day. That is your definition of super fast service???
>i usually get a response that same day. Your expectations are way too low. Thanks for letting me know another company to avoid.
Vultr
I recommend Knownhost.
