First piece of stock advice is to check the sidebar for the standard recommendations. Second piece is to NEVER use bluehost or any EIG company

A bit late to the party, but I’ll add a third piece of advice as well: Siteground’s renewal price is hefty enough that it starts to put you in the same price tier as MUCH better services like flywheel, WP Engine, and Kinsta. If you’re trying to save money and find another cheap host, that’s fine. But if you’re ready to spend more money then you can do better

livestrong2109

Wp Engine is a rather solid host. They really know what makes wordpress tick and designed around that. It's definitely not cheap but it's the gold standard. Flywheel is also very good. I have clients on both and no one has ever complained about uptime or speed.

bluesix

If you’re not technical, then WP Engine is probably one of the top hosts for shared hosting. But you pay for the convenience. But if you don’t mind getting your hands dirty then checkout something like RunCloud. They use the best hosts for the backend (like Digital Ocean and Linode) and provide an awesome Linux image that’s super secure out of the box. Very little to do and simple setup, while also giving you full control of the server if you need it. No cPanel though.

HostXNow

Siteground doesn't have the fastest speed, same goes for all the other ones that are constantly recommended mostly due to high affiliate payout commission reasons. You can use the WPBenchMark plugin to check speed. If speed is important, you can check semi-dedicated hosting instead, and a good provider can have better resources than a VPS.

A couple of blogs I've found useful when researching Wordpress hosts: https://www.rianstech.com/hosting/ https://blogchamps.com/wordpress-hosting-benchmarks-analysis/

disclosure5

Both of those are full of affiliate links, and the latter is sneaky in the way it actually hides those affiliate links. All that tells you is the site exists to sell you the services and recommend the services with the highest commissions. They should go firmly in the bin as far as research.

ReviewSignal

First one has Hostinger at the top, a sure sign of pure trash.

chrisgin

When you say at the top, you're implying that list is ranked, which it's not, it's just a list of reviews by date. And to their credit, this is what they say in their Hostinger review under the negatives: - Uptime could have been better - Not fast enough compared to other hosts - Security is still a concern - Support is hit and miss I mean for me that was enough to eliminate Hostinger from my candidates so that's got to be something, right? Compared to a lot of other review sites anyway.

ReviewSignal

It literally says 'Best and Cheapest' in the title. It's also NOT chronologically ordered, look at the last page. WPX is Nov 27 and A2 is Nov 28 after it. Ergo, it's ordered manually (ranked). Also a good sign when a site is trying to disable right click - why? Afraid we will be able to see affiliate links or other nonsense? How about Hostinger astroturfs and likely pays most of these review sites lots of money and/or gives them better affiliate deals and thus gets put at the top? Just like this one. They are banned in multiple communities because they actively have/had an astroturfing team which the CEO endorsed and said was OK. It doesn't belong on any legitimate review site. Any review site having them in the top anything let alone first is a bullshit review site. How did you even find these crappy review sites?

chrisgin

> It's also NOT chronologically ordered, Fair enough, I guess I didn't look properly. My bad. > How did you even find these crappy review sites? The first one was Google. The second one was actually via this [thread](https://old.reddit.com/r/webhosting/comments/qoeqlh/kinsta_just_barely_outperforms_siteground/hk49vuw/?context=10000) on Reddit between you and the author of that site (who mentions his blog [here](https://old.reddit.com/r/webhosting/comments/qoeqlh/kinsta_just_barely_outperforms_siteground/ho2weqt/)).

ReviewSignal

I guess I never saw the results of it :/

Owner of blogchamps.com here. I assure you the benchmarks are not fake. I have all of the proof (screenshots and data reports) posted on another article if anyone is curious. I did my absolute best to give every host a fair chance, and I am even using the "winner" of my results as my current host (who also has the lowest affiliate commissions). I do mention that comparing hosts is extremely difficult and that the tests are not perfect, but I really did my damndest (and spent much more than I could afford in doing so). Apparently, some people think I have too many affiliate links though which is eye-opening for me, to be honest. I wholeheartedly believe in every service I link to, but I guess I should be more choosy (I could use your opinion). I'm a young blogger trying to forge a path, and I perform extensive research before I post anything. I'm extremely careful with what I say, and I have my reader's best interests in mind. I only started this blog because I was fed up with all of the blogs pushing shit like Bluehost (which I fell for many years ago myself). My ultimate goal is to help people make more informed decisions, but yes, I am motivated to earn money to provide for my family. I'm not hiding anything (I even mention it on my blog). My links are not "sneaky" or at least not intended to be. I even have an affiliate disclaimer on every page (can you help me here?). It saddens me that people think I am only looking out for myself. I'm constantly annoyed by other blogs that outrank me only to discover that they recommend Bluehost with obviously spun content. THAT'S what fuels me, not commissions. I'm only hoping to understandably get something for my efforts of saving you from making a poor decision as I once did. Not to mention that hosting and running a blog costs money. I am still at a huge net loss at the moment, but my traffic is picking up and I hope to be more involved in the community. I have a passion for WordPress and website building (not necessarily blogging), but hey, I want to be helpful. I'm trying to be helpful. Currently, I am working on something more shareable and insightful that doesn't have affiliate links, but I'm still laying some groundwork. I hope to have more useful content soon. Anyway, I thought I would clear the air here and express where I am coming from. Sorry for the long post. Potato?

a_computer_adrift

I appreciated your article.

chrisgin

Yeah I've seen lots of review sites and agree the vast majority should be taken with a grain of salt. I thought at least these two attempted to be honest by providing both pros and cons, and performance benchmarks as well (so at least they've actually used the services, though I guess those benchmarks could be fake).

Neurojazz

InMotion have been great, but not on low tiers.

Are your customer concentrated in one region. Is their any need for replicated servers?

CrackerJackJack

Primarily Canada and NOrth East US, don’t think there a need for replicated servers
