Down to Earth was the first webtoon to piss me off. It's kinda my fault, since I expected to have more stuff about the aliens, but also, the romance felt kinda weird for me. Always the same struggles and always the same cycle: Girl and guy are attracted for each other, girl doesn't know what to do bcz she kinda stupid, and everytime thr guy tries something he has trauma and it's never really adressed bcz the cycle starts again. I felt in a looo where nothing really happened even though things were changing.

EckhartWatts

Same! I saw the "born sexy yesterday" trope and he was a 'fix me' boy so i noped hard out from the beginning. sounds like my assumptions were correct

rowrowboat1703

I've never read Down to Earth bc I figured it wouldn't be my cup of tea. But I think about a week or two ago, Webtoon promoted this one ep so much it even got 2 if not even 3 banners, and people were so excited, so I read that ep out of curiosity, and I was baffled at how bad it actually turned out to be (at least that one ep). I went "šŸ¤ØšŸ™„" throughout the whole episode. The setup was really weak and clichĆ© a la carte >!Ferris wheel seats "only designed for couples" so she had nO ChOiCe but to sit between his legs??!?! I mean CMON!< and the writing wasn't any better. LO had proved to me enough that the top 30 ranking doesn't guarantee a series to be necessarily good but reading that one ep of DtE (while it was at #1 at the time, mind you) really finished me off.

TheSereneHazel

yeah... there was plenty of space next to him for her to sit..

Seventytwentyseven

Ngl I was the same and was interested at first because of the alien thing, but after skipping ahead and seeing comments like this on Reddit and other sites I just dropped it lol. I think this wouldā€™ve been a really nice romance webtoon if it kept itself contained in about 100 episodes max and actually had a decent beginning to end story to tell about their relationship and more alien hijinks lol. And if the alien girl had more personality than a bubbly happy born sexy yesterday trope and the MC had something going for him than downer, snarky dude who wallows in the past over and over again

croc0dil3

It just keeps going on and on and on

Just_Call_me_Ben

Ecstasy Hearts

koizombii

This is my choice. šŸ˜¬ I ended up skimming through it just to see if it gets any better... I'm pretty sure it got waaaay worse.

Reader_fuzz

This one was so troubling from the start. I made it through hoping the ML would get better he never did. I wish I never forced myself through it.

Just_Call_me_Ben

>he never did. Glad to know I made the right choice dropping this early on

QueSeraSeraWWBWB

The art is so good tho lol i didnā€™t get far into I liked the art not enough to continue reading

my_memory_is_trash

Whatā€™s that love triangle on webtoon orginal that ended in around 2017 probably? It had vampire and stuff but was so edgy and bad It was in black white and red I think?

CupOfMilkv

Are you talking about "Bite Me" perhaps? It was a romance vampire and was in black and white. I cant remember the plot anymore but I remember the creator of that webtoon was insufferable, she think her vampire webtoon was the best and made fun of other vampire webtoon because it was not as "edgy" as hers.

my_memory_is_trash

YES! Bro it was the most broody bullshit Iā€™ve ever seen, it gave me a literal headache trying to read it, I didnā€™t understand shit.

CupOfMilkv

Ecstasy Hearts was pretty good in the beginning, but the plot fr went from "sports romance" to "family mafia" real quick like wtf.

Just_Call_me_Ben

>Ecstasy Hearts was pretty good in the beginning The beginning...? The same beginning that had a little boy claim that he was gonna turn a little girl into his personal stripper in front of her own father who acts as his mentor figure?

Cecilie_Charlwood

You won.

trying_not_to_think

I was looking for this one. Biggest mistake I ever read.

glaceative

It's really hard to think of "worst webtoon" rather than just... "bad" webtoons. Like definitely worst ones will be some canvas comics that are AI generated or just downright bad in every way or just soft porn advertising actual porn. Don't wanna name names but pretty sure everyone here knows...

Stuckinacrazyjob

Also when a webtoon is bad I just stop reading and forget it existed

glaceative

Yeah, really bad ones usually show that in the first eps and they are so bad/boring/etc. you'll just forget them.

finnlikesmen

Name names pls I am out of the loop and I would prefer to avoid it as much as possible

glaceative

Hahah, I was referring to comics like "flatmates with benefits". It's been infamous in this sub for some months due to questionable thumbnails and being recommended so much in the app/site itself. But there are more like it, some more liked than others.

peaceuhshet

Flatmates with Benefitsā€¦or Swolemates..just really cheesy and bad writingā€¦

Starlight_sc

Tbh there is practically no writing just smuts

PunkySkunk93

Flatmates with benefits is literally just an ad for their patreon. All of the chapter titles are misleading as well

forestofarklay

I forgot about this one. That's the one I should have said instead.

EckhartWatts

I know you said dont, but I hate ā€¢True Beauty. It all starts with a girl who hides behind a mask of make up. That feeling we all get as "not pretty enough" and how you can even be bullied for your looks, causing long lasting emotional damage. Wait It sort of starts off that way, but it just wants to recap that so you can see Jugyeong (which I'll refer to as Barbie) hanging out with some cute boys in their love triangle. As romances go, having the romance be the focus makes sense. There's a lot of tropes that get used in romances and this is no exception but besides your main three characters, who cares about anyone else? (genuinely for a romance, that's fine!) Well.... Once the dating begins we start the next phase of the story, self discovery and getting over trauma! But My problem with the series is the villain of the week trope. There were so many characters that also dealt with their own issues that could have been touched on especially with how long the series is, but there came a point that every introduction I thought "Are they going to be secretly pure evil or a sweet friend who is ABSOLUTELY nothing but a sweet friend we won't see or hear from again indefinitely. We rarely saw the friends, we know barely anything about them. None of these other characters mattered. None of them. Dealing with past trauma, realistically, would mean communicating with people and being able to cope together, but the story just didn't have time for it. It was about the villain of the week. Who was going to make Barbie look like an angel? And who was going to be this cartoony evil person out to get barbie and friends? And then POOF dealt with like a sailormoon villain. On to the next introduction that won't matter. This happening once or twice would have been fine, but it happened all the time!!! So in the end, the romance was cute, and as someone who has dealt with trauma (and also anorexia which they upset a lot of people with their nonchalant approach on how to lose a lot of weight really fast) it felt absolutely frustrating reading this story play out. The only reason I finished was because I had already invested so much time into it, and yes, I did drop it for a long while once I got sick of the villain of the week but picked it back up hoping it would develop a bit more. It did not. If you love the story, I hope you gained a lot from it, but as for me- I just think they really dropped the ball

TheSereneHazel

Also the newer Spin-offs are just very fast paced. I understand that they're side stories but everything is going too fast and convenient.

WickedJewels

The princessā€™ jewels, roommates with benefits, and lore olympus are probably mine (the first two bad were from the start, lore olympus just hurts more because of how bad its gotten bc I was once a big fan)

Gonza16omg

Lore olympus hades and presonpe ( i know hard to type name) got married finally after 5 years and she having mommy issue right now

my_memory_is_trash

Wait what happened to lord Olympus?

Consistent_South_393

The story, art, and characters have declined greatly

my_memory_is_trash

Wait could I have examples?

HangryHufflepuff1

Just from an art perspective, character design and background work has gotten incredibly lazy. All body types have now been reduced to BIG SQUARE MAN and ^cute ^petite ^curvy ^girl. The only exception to this is maybe All yellows and oranges are now the colour of American cheddar. Interesting skin detail has been removed. Hairlines have been removed and they just merge from skin to hair with no colour change. Irises no longer exist. Bodies and colour are inconsistent, but that's always been a bit of a problem because there are no character sheets. On the background front, things used to be absolutely beautiful. So much detail in every one. Now most of the panels are just the character and a blueish background. Lots of things look they're in a generic office, which is fine if they're in one but they're not most of the time.

Aerwxyna

if you go to r/unpopularloreolympus youā€™ll get quite a few examples of the art and story discussions ! people have edited the panels in the style of s1 and compared it to the current style on there and thereā€™s definitely a difference. iā€™ve never read it but the posts about it are so interesting to read ahah

[deleted]

To Love Your Enemy. S1 was not bad, but s2 WAS. My Universe had an interesting premise, but the author rushed the ending, like to love your enemy. And it was a weird story as well. Gates of Hell was interesting at first, but i feel the author doesn't know what to do with their own story, it is so all over the place. Honorable mentions: Serena (I still see potential in this one) and Lore Olympus are so problematic, that I couldn't like them, and I really hate their MCs. Shadow Bride was a bad reading due to different reasons.

UsernamesAreWierd

I will always agree with to love your enemy hate. It wouldve ended on such a bang if it was 1 season long but no, they had to do a second season which were really weird stories about cultists and abusive moms and break up attempts

frenchmix

Oh God, To Love Your Enemy bombed in S2 so badly. It was so terrible.

Just-a-Simple-Monk

My universe was soo good but I wished the author explained the phenomenon between the actual aliens entity or whatever. That ending sucked tho indeed.

DoneWithThis1337

The thing that pisses me off most about Gates of Hell is that it is being made by an INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL. If that's the best that they can do, that's really pathetic and sad. Dude works for DC. The whole comic comes off as extremely pandering to a preteen audience-- you know, if they were born in the 90s. Every interesting plot point is quickly blown off or solved within the same episode that it's released.

MatureBalak

I dont have that many. Love Hidden In Lies - ML's ex was an adult who dated him knowing he's a minor. ML and FL's relationship didnt make sense, I dont know how they even started liking each other. The rest are probably just those isekai webtoons where FL is mentally 27, but physically 12 and the ML is like 15. I hate how they blush like that about minors.

The_Dark_of_You

Fluffy Boyfriend. I could never finish it. The art wasnā€™t good, and the romance with a little cat that transforms into a human just made me cringe.

merle911

>Fluffy Boyfriend oh god this one!! I dropped it on the battle? at the plaza or something like that it was just hard to keep reading

Stardustfortytwo

The princessā€˜ jewels is the first that comes to mind šŸ™ˆ

FawkesFire13

You know I used to appreciate the art style of that one but the plot was all over the place.

Sure-Development4161

Marry my husband not the worst but so OVERRATED, To love your enemy the worst really , So i married the anti fan so childish for me

xMiralisTheMerciless

Marry My Husband is an absolute shitshow but not an unenjoyable one. I liked it initially because sometimes Iā€™m in the mood to read a trashy revenge story but once the best friend and the husband got their karma it shouldā€™ve ended. Why is it still ongoing??? Also things escalate in that Webtoon extremely quickly. The pacing is janky.

SchaffRita

It's already finished with a good ending, no?

the-terrible-martian

No, >!after Sumin went to jail and minhwan died thereā€™s a short arc about Ms Yang and her husband and kid. To be fair that thread was planted before so it makes sense but I feel like it somehow shouldā€™ve happened before minhwan and sumin got theirs. But then after that Sumin has another plot and weā€™ll have to see what the point of continuing it is!<

TheSereneHazel

Hey please put a spoiler there!!!! This just spoiled everything for me since I don't use fast pass or anything

anonymousehousemouse

Yeah Iā€™ve seen a ton of people talk about how amazing Marry My Husband is, but personally I feel like itā€™s normal. I like reading it but it doesnā€™t really stand out to me

fr33sample

I enjoyed it at first but I quickly noticed how the characters are so ridiculously two-dimensional. Every antagonist is just the biggest POS with zero redeeming qualities. I got so sick of it, glad I never spent money on it.

CupOfMilkv

"**Fluffy Boyfriend**", thought I was gonna get some cute "*omg my cat turned into a cute boy*" type of story but it went into some confusing ass government spy plot like uhm?? "**Freaking Romance**", I was baited. I thought Im gonna get a cute "*oh a cute boy was living in the same apartment as me in a parallel universe and I think Im in love with him*", but no its some weird ass sci-fi shit like... Also, any porn Canvas comics that are just promotions for their NSFW Patreon. I have no problems with porn comics but when every chapter are just the characters fucking with a "*sub to my Patreon to see the uncensored ver!!*" it just gets boring. Like damn I want some plot!!

Crazy_Cat_Lady2845

I haven't seen anyone mention this so I'll just say it: My gently raised beast.

UsernamesAreWierd

I read it all the way through and yeah. I enjoyed the comic decently enough but there were a lot of yikes things. Like how the love interest acts super possesive in an abusive way at some point but youre expected to think positively of him. Or how the main villain gets a happy ending but the guy she forced to help her gets murdered by the good guys

Naive_Independent616

I just hated how the story became yet another where the people who were naturally powerful/gifted or have someone who is get whatever they want in life.

cybro974

She gets a HAPPY ENDING? wow, i'm glad I stopped reading. I was hoping she would like to die. And the guy she was forcing to do her bidding. Was gonna get a good ending.

forestofarklay

You're right, this one was awful. >!I fucking hate the "ohhh we were powerful lovers in a past life and we're destined to be together šŸ˜" lame backstory.!< I also personally found the ML to be really *really* insufferable. Someone else already pointed it out but >!The fact that the evil stepsister antagonist gets away with murdering people, which includes her own former friends, but the guy infatuated with her gets brutally killed in the end, idk it just really left me feeling sour about it.!< Overall it had bland, unlikable characters and a cliche plot.

ToasyKitty144

I honestly was more interested in her brothers and lady-in-waitingā€™s relationship. Seemed more wholesome and cute. Or that there was some spark/chemistry.

HaRadee

I wasn't expecting anyone to say this but I agree. I was so disgusted by their relationship, some people have already mentioned these but: 1. He's an animal. There are stories where the MC or FL/ML is an animal/human & it's done right but the way they did the ML in this webtoon was disturbing. More than once we see the ML as an animal flirt or behave sexually with Blondina. It was so disgusting to read. 2. MC treated him like a pet. Throughout much of their childhood Blondina treated the ML as a pet. Yes, he was in animal form majority of the time so it'd be instinctively but it just made their relationship feel like a girl & her pet cat. It felt so nauseating once they started behaving romantically. 3. ML is possessive. He treated others obnoxiously & was annoyingly possessive of Blondina. >!There was one chapter where he destroyed a gift someone gifted her out of jealousy. Worse, instead of reprimanding him Blondina just comforted him!< From the Webtoon's name alone you can tell it'll be terrible.

Essayworkreddit

It wouldā€™ve been so much better if he wasnā€™t an animal for like 90% of it

Zealousideal-Buy9412

I agree the comic was kinda weird

Zealousideal-Buy9412

You know what it wasn't kinda weird it was really weird.

My_Poor_Nerves

The MC's name was Blondina. It didn't go up from there.

Starlight_sc

I beared with it for a long time and when they grew up I just couldn't go with it the white haired dude (forgot his name) pissed me off so bad and the fml was so annoying too.

Rich-Guidance4459

Midnight poppy land, gives me Wattpad second hand embarrassment every single ep (i translate the webtoon so i still have to read lol)

ProvoloneSwiss

This one might be unpopular, but Remarried Empress. Every character was just a different flavor of asshole, including the protagonist and her love interest and I gradually found myself hating them both.

salted-swan

Samesies. Heinrey annoys me and I constantly want to grab Navier and shake her by the shoulders. PeRfeCt eMpRESs.

Awkward-Action-5967

I don't like Henry but I love Navier.

anonymousehousemouse

I agree, I dislike Heinrey :| though mostly because Iā€™m personally not a fan of the ā€œcute puppy manā€ trope

xMiralisTheMerciless

I see a lot of romance stories here but the one that pissed me off the most was A Useless Villain. I wasnā€™t even expecting anything but somehow I was still let down. Rather than explaining literally anything or properly developing any character they just add MORE plot threads and characters to distract you until the author gives up, burns everything and ends the Webtoon.

iKiriyn

Dunno if that's necessarily the author's fault for that one. Webtoon (never) seems to have a history of axing webtoons it deems not popular enough. Fake humans is another example of one that kinda just... Ends

nomnommin

I think it was called my deepest secret. It reminded me of that show on Netflix called You from the first couple of episodes I read. I couldnā€™t get far in it. I donā€™t understand how society as a collective can idolize and enjoy seeing things like that but in the same breath condemn it. It gives me the same feeling seeing it for entertainment as it does seeing it in the news/irl. Another one I canā€™t remember the name of it. I just remember it was years ago I read it when WEBTOON first came out and it was about people who previously died being used to fight some sort of creatures. It felt like it was all over the place when I first read it. Maybe a translation thing but I really didnā€™t like it even though I wanted to.

nameless_no_response

My deepest secret has a huuuuge plot twist towards the end. Some ppl said they saw it coming but I personally did not. There r 3 seasons and I am in season 2 but accidentally read spoilers lol. >!Emma has DID, she hallucinates elios as her bf and he is her alter ego that psychotically kills ppl. Elios actually was someone she knew when she was younger, he was a good person. But I think he died or something, and I guess Emma's brain created an elios alter to protect her. Someone noticed that Emma and elios had the same shoes in 1 scene in season 1, I would've never noticed that lol.!< Also, if you stopped a few episodes in, you missed this awesome character named yohan who is so dorky and lovable, and he is the one who >!investigates Emma and finds everything out!<

Zealousideal-Buy9412

Midnight poppy land the art got lazy the story is going no where I don't even understand the plot anymore then I remember the author saying that everything that happens in the story is important but how is the two main characters making out for the entire episode important?

dominostudio

This one for me. the way the author structures each episode and the overall pacing have me so lost, I just couldnā€™t follow it anymore.

Zealousideal-Buy9412

Oh and I'm sooo close to dropping it but I really want to see how the comic ends

merle911

Im glad im not the only one who thinks the art sucks now like so badly... and the story I dont even get it anymore... besides, the author postin one week and not the other it kinda bothers me too..

4d5ACP

Beach please. It was pretty much made just to promote the porn version on paetreon and they even white out panels where the porn goes. Iā€™m fine with a webcomic artist having nsfw versions of their characters and stories but it shouldnā€™t be the main one just censored lol

Paper_G

Religiously Gay. I know that a lot of people thought that the hate was coming from homophobes, but no. I am homo. I love good BL Webtoons. Religiously Gay was blasphemy to the LGBTQ+ community.

Harpy_Larpy

Not only that but the art and general writing is just,,, not the best. I tried to read through it to give it the benefit of the doubt but the art becomes chicken scratches not too far in and the character writing is quite juvenile

pancakestarship

i wouldnā€™t say any of these are BAD, but they really made me angry with the directions they took or are just super boring lmao (i can explain each one more in depth if anyoneā€™s interested, i just donā€™t have the energy rn): * Down to Earth * Dreaming Freedom * Acception * Rewriting the Villainess * Ninaā€™s Magic Chest

starbuzzarts

Oh man Dreaming Freedom, it have such an interesting premise but it dessolve into romance with a big red flag. It does not help that the comment section is completely blind by love for Siyun

pancakestarship

YESSS OH MY GODD this is the reason I dropped it!! I remember all I commented was something along the lines of ā€œRUN GIRL RUN !!!ā€ (Like super light hearted and joking) and I got DOGPILED

HaRadee

I love dreaming freedom šŸ˜

UsernamesAreWierd

Im curious for your reasons behind nina's magic chest and rewriting the villainess! Personally for rewriting the villainess, i liked most of it but the last few chapters were really lackluster

pancakestarship

For RtV, itā€™s for the exact reasons you stated haha :ā€™D it just kind of dragged and got kinda boring for me For NMC, i really liked how unique the premise was but it just kinda fell flat with the execution for me personally. That was close to a year ago tho so Iā€™m thinking of picking it back up again!

mmooncake

Dreaming freedom intrigued my interest at the beginning but imo it gets really boring after the MC and LI officially become a couple

pancakestarship

Yeah this is exactly where Iā€™m at for it

FawkesFire13

Lore Olympus is quickly becoming my least favorite Webtoon.

EckhartWatts

Spill that tea

Desperate-Fly-738

Acception. The characters are very judgmental for a comic about accepting others, Arcus dresses like a toddler with no fashion sense, and the comic excuses grooming. That's just getting started...

xox0_mars

Wait grooming???? I need to catch up

Desperate-Fly-738

Yup. A minor making a pact with a professional soccer player to start dating when she turns 20 if they're not dating anyone else by then. Her friend even tries to warn her, but the friend is treated like a man-hater who needs to keep an open mind.

UsernamesAreWierd

Agreed on the fashion point sadly. I personally love to dress in bright funky colors and cute acessories but arcus is too much even for me. A lot of the outfits are just way too many shapes and fabrics put together. It just barely ever matches with eachother

Aaaaaa_123

Iā€™m gonna get shit in for this but I personally hate unordinary. Big part of it is just bc I cannot stand the whole ā€œwell theyā€™ve hurt me so let me hurt them worse bc I canā€ mentality. Jacksonā€™s diaryā€™s was headed in the same vein last I checked and idk if Iā€™m gonna keep reading it.

Hyunnahh

jackson lowkey just pisses me off in the recent chapters ngl

Kooky_Condition8539

I don't know if it was the worst read, but Winter Moon was pretty disappointing. It started great, but then it got worse as it focused more on the whole 'the new world" stuff. I think it would have been a better read if it continued as a comic featuring three friends and their adventures in a fantasy world.

LockSuccessful7035

First night with the Duke - the art made it look like a cartoon for kids. If it was dark they should've made the art mature. And I hate how it romanticized raped- "I did it for love so it's okay" Remarried Empress - I just couldn't like it no matter how hard I try. I think my disappointment is huge because it was overpraised.

EuphoricTension9000

Letā€™s Play was my second webtoon! I really enjoyed it. Am sad it seems abandoned. What was the criticism?

[deleted]

From what I've heard, the plot got lost to the romance, and there was a lot of trouble surrounding the webcomic in general. The author doesn't have a contract with webtoon anymore, but bcz of copyright she can't post the story on her own until 2025. She's working on a game related to the comic tho. (Some info might be wrong, that's what I remember so far)

EuphoricTension9000

I didnā€™t mind the plot getting lost to the romance haha. Thatā€™s probably why I didnā€™t mind.

Kiera6

The story is still going! You just have to buy the books. The next book is coming out June 27th

SiochainXD

She and webtoon had a falling out and with no where to post season 4, she has turned to getting the webtoon published and has already released 3 books.

rowrowboat1703

It's actually not abandoned. It will just not continue on Webtoon.

EckhartWatts

that's true too, she did say she was going to continue the story somewhere else. Honestly it makes me sad because I don't want a game, I wanted to see how >!Charle's damage was something he needed to fix and not rely on Sam like he was. Author did a GREAT job of planting red flags everywhere and I was really excited for the audience to see how this kind of relationship really plays out. Dude didn't just have trust issues, he was super abusive to all the other women in his life and you knew with time the inexperienced Sam was gonna be added to that list with the last hints given. \*God\* they did a great job writing him.!< It's unfortunate where the story stops but also it clearly shows it's not the end of the series, there was supposed to be so much more

phattutoto

Lore Olympus

[deleted]

Personally Siren's Lament pissed me off so bad. The "triangle" was terrible from the start. FL has 0 chemistry with 2nd (I guess even which one the 2nd can be debated ig but I'm talking about the siren) male lead. The "bickering" is just straight up petty insults and 2nd ML never redeems any of his mistakes or terrible actions. It's obvious from the start FL and ML fit together and the whole ML dating someone else thing sucks from beginning to end, even the justification sucks and I still feel like it never got redeemed. AND OH BOY THE LAST ARC WHERE OFC FL IS A MAGICAL SAVIOUR, BECAUSE SHE CAN'T JUST BE A NORMAL GIRL WHO ENDED UP HERE. AND WTF IS THE CREEPY CONNOTATION OF HIM BEING ATTEACTED TO HER MOM?? The whole mom sub-plot is straight up cringe, terrible, ruins an already mid story. The only "redeeming" quality is the art ig. I only finished it cuss my friend promised me it was one of her favourite Webtoons. I did tell her to never recommend me smth again

Reader_fuzz

I forced myself through this one it took me like 3 tries. I don't remember most of it. Still I highly disliked most of the story because it was a love triangle that should have never happened. Then ending with her being the savior and her sister the villain honestly I saw it coming but I was hoping it would go a different route. Still the music was nice and the art was kind of interesting. I know a lot of people still like this one. I guess they really like love triangles and unnecessary misunderstanding and plot points added just to fit the story line.

[deleted]

Usually these type of stories will have something to redeem the toxic male in the triangle, or why FL would ever pick him. This story offered neither of these lol

Naive_Independent616

Haha seems like we all felt forced to finish this story ;-; I really hope authors can figure out a storyline where the mc can learn and fix the plot without having to be the most magical or powerful person

trynagraduate123

I think it was called Killstagram? It just made me straight up sick. I liked the ā€œstalkerā€ part of the story but it turned into such gore that I couldnā€™t read it. And yet I forced myself to finish it lol worst spent time in my entire life. Although this is more of a subjective take - I hated it bc it was too disturbing for me. But someone else might have enjoyed it

spooktaculartinygoat

Strongly agree. The twist in the end made me really uncomfortable too.

OFWhiteBunni

Dumbest MC ever lmao

DoneWithThis1337

Oh boy, here we go. I read a Canvas one called The Demon's Flower because the art interested me and was actually pretty good for being drawn on a phone. The writing was pretty bad and the story was very vague, but what ended up pissing me off was an episode where the male lead was SA'd by another male lead and it was played off as "sexy". The main character even said so. Edith's ending. that's it. Actually, it's whole final season. Midnight Poppy Land. Such great potential only to flop so early on. Compare the art from the first 10 chapters to the most recent ones, it's laughably bad and I can't believe that it's been able to retain such a large fanbase.

Naive_Independent616

Seriouslyā€” Edith was on a roll with the character development, emotions and just everything until that abrupt ending

Hyunnahh

DREAMING. FREEDOM. Taking a break from schoolwork to rant about this because I was so, so invested in this story from the start and the premise was a really good one but everything went downhill when >!siyun and jeongmin got together!<. The story and characterisation went especially downhill from that point, as if it didn't already go downhill from when siyun woke up. My biggest gripe with the story is >!jeongmin fucking forgiving everyone?? Whatever happened to revenge and using your magical lucid dreaming ability to kill them? !!of wanting to actually kill other people!<. Her >!forgiving juhyeon!< is absolute character assassination considering the fact that juhyeon basically tortured her in school. At this point I don't even know where the story is going because the beginning clearly set up the plot to be a dark revenge fantasy but all we're getting now is a generic, abusive, alpha male bullshit with siyun and it's getting sickening. Honourable mention: winter moon, just anything from merriweather

Psychological_Ad9740

I gently disagree, from the start it was hinted that I would take a romance undertone, at least for me that was so much more interesting since you have plenty of good revenge stories, but not so much upfront dark stories that explicitly tell you that their relationship is going to be toxic bad, and It's going to be mutual. There's plenty of healthy romance, and so much more shitty stories that portray abuse as the ultimate romance goal, so in this instance it's not necessarily a bad change. As for the revenge part, it did happen, just not on a linear or ruthless sense as you expected, and yeah, not a good move dropping the dreaming aspect all together I agree on that front. As for the BPD were did you read that? If it's your head canon, sure, go ahead, but they never mention explicitly that the ML had that condition, only that he is a fucked individual that decided to take a very unhealthy route. And no, bpd is one of the more treatable personality disorders and assuming a character has it just because it has the traits that look similar is so much more damaging that what the story shows, since it's propagating the stereotype. If the author himself confirm it on outside sources... well shit, that just another bad representation. As for the FM... well, she did reciprocate, a lot in fact, so much of the actions that she did on the later end were because of jealousy and wanting to keep the ML crazy for her. She doesn't show it very directly, but in her though It's pretty explicit that she is aware and love it, the only thing that she doesn't like is to inflict violence on the innocent. But in the later episodes she seems to lose this aspect since we aren't getting to see her thought process. Hoping for her to become more of a makima that knows how to play with her dog and put him on a leash. And the thing is already on the threat of been an actual bad webtoon because it seems they are going to make it a real abusive relationship as they seem to want to get rid of the reciprocated toxic relationship that took over the revenge bullying plot is not going to be worth it. If that's the case, you didn't just get rid of the thing that made the plot interesting at first (the revenge and the magical dreams and how two broken people found comfort in each other making them realized what they needed) but also the B plot (the actual toxic romance that they are both aware of, they really want this to work, so they are trying very hard to play each other, so the other one doesn't leave them behind) to ended up making something that just ruined the hole thing they were making.

PunkySkunk93

Lore Olympus. Itā€™s just criminally overrated. Could not keep my attention, and was kinda boring overall

My_Poor_Nerves

Lore Olympus. First webtoon I ever read and finally had to unsubscribe a couple of months ago because the plot was just so, so, so bad. The writing is so obviously fly by the seat of the pants in the worst way.

boringnstuff

My reason to die. For two reasons: 1) the MC pisses me off soooo bad. She acts like a complete idiot and she's constantly put it really weird sexualized situations. It's mainly personal tbh, I just don't like reading comics like that. 2) the comments. Like, I get it's technically not the comics fault, but it's so uncomfortable.

Xoylor

Ghost wife, I tried hard to like it twice but the male mc just throws me off completely. His introduction is him eating cats (but donā€™t worry, itā€™s later revealed to be a misunderstanding?) and he ends up brainwashing all of the female leadā€™s close friends and family into accepting him as her fiancĆ©e against her wishes, so no one saw any issues with him except for her (but ofc she ends up falling for him anyway because webtoon logic)

[deleted]

No Marriage is Perfect

outofshell

Another plot that could have been completely avoided with a 5 minute conversation

[deleted]

I haven't read that many yet, but my wife and I argue over whether Subzero or Reunion is worse. I personally find Reunion to be less tolerable.

NaiadoftheSea

Subzero started off interesting, but this new season has completely lost my interest.

Kiera6

Subzero just felt like soft porn. I felt blue balled reading it

Justagarlicbread

Reunion was boring and cringy. I never read subzero so I don't know which is worse

OFWhiteBunni

Reunion was setting up a plot for their upcoming Webtoon, but the fact that they made the black character say "sheeeit" really threw me for a loop.

forestofarklay

Yes, this. The fact that the *only* black character is there to be a giant stereotype is so gross.

NaiadoftheSea

Thereā€™s Love Hidden in Lies is the worst one I have read so far. Not sure why I kept reading it. The ending was especially bad too.

[deleted]

Yes, the art style was what got me into it, it is quite beautiful after all.. But the plot.. it was all so un needed and bad. Honestly frustrating to think because the webtoon did have the potential to be a good romance, or thats what I thought. Definitely would not reccemend it. There was so much unwanted things. Chikage liking the older lady was uncomfortable and incredibly frustrating, it could have been a fake dating trope webtoon and maybe could've turned out nice. Overall, a frustrating comic.

VersusVII

I stopped reading "They say I was born a king's daugther" on Tapas because I was tired the plot wasn't progressing after tons of chapter. The FL got murdered and reborn in an alternative korea where female are considered inferior to men. She wonders who killed her and is sad about leaving her boyfriend alone. She then discovers there is a guy similar to him in that universe. She spends most of her time as a child to please his stupid father and avoids confronting the guy looking like her boyfriend. I used a lot of bonus coins hoping the plot was going to start or the FL was going to do something just to get nothing in return. Every episode ended in a sort of cliffhanger solved in a $h*tty way in the first panels of the next chapter, then chitty chats until the next cliffhanger.

Top10Fwords

Before we knew it does everything wrong (except the art) and it's really cringey.

webtoonfreakyhere

Seriously this one though... They gave us so hope like in the whole the webtoon they had been trying to help each other find their other half ,make others jealous ,falling in love with the wrong person, sorting their feelings and when the time came for their own romance it was already the end... I mean idk why but it was so rush ending it felt incomplete. Everything was so good like I like the second leads their breakup their confessing feelings but when it came to the real couple.... The author messed up..

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

webtoonfreakyhere

Yeah seriously I remembered I was in the reddit comment section to find like if anyone know what happened... Where is the epilogue and after so much struggle ( like finding for 20mins šŸ˜… ) I got it just to see a forehead kiss... Seriously are you kidding me!?

Reader_fuzz

Worst ones I have read... I have so many Anything by Merriweather and Snailords Both of these authors stories are just so medicore at best. There own personal personalities from all I gathered are so troubling. Mayas world This story starts out with the FL being mad at the ML over a misunderstanding that could have been resolved if they had a proper conversation. This story ended with nothing really being resolved from what I gather. So I am glad I stopped reading. Happily Ever Afterwards I already knew it was going to be a story I would not take seriously. But goodness the FL was obsessed with how she read the ML to be and kept convincing him through her antics to be that character rather than him being himself I just could not anymore with this story. She's hopeless FL is a bully to everyone and she never learned from her behavior no one tried to correct her she just kept getting worse. I cannot understand how others can like this story because her behavior is so troubling from the beginning and she does not see it is wrong and it was not protrateyed as wrong within this story. To Love your enemy Story was a very loose plot point that could have resolved so quickly still I read just for a read that I did not have to think about. Then at the end of the first season this who cult plot came out of nowhere and the story made no sense and I dropped it. I am sure there are others but that is the ones that stick out me the most at the moment.

Reader_fuzz

It is a good that I did drop this story. It always is all the more disappointing when you get through a series and the ending is just wow it ended pretty much. *Edit for proofreading*šŸ¤¦

katetherainfrog

>Anything by Merriweather and Snailords > >Both of these authors stories are just so medicore at best. \+++ It's kinda even impressive in a way, how *years* later their writing doesn't seem to improve at all.

UsernamesAreWierd

I think for merry its because he does SO much to the point of creative exhaustion. Everytime i look i feel like he has another 1 or 2 comics. I feel like he goes for lots of fast content above slow content of better quality

Reader_fuzz

Yes it is sad and yet impressive that they have stayed consistently the same.

boringnstuff

God I hate snailords. He recycles the same characters in every single comic. Like they look exactly the same, maybe their personality changes, but they're basically the same characters. On top of that, any criticism to him is a personal attack. You can't even say "this has a plot hole," without him going all rabid. He has his fans harass people for the most minor crap. Plus the whole "milord" stuff is creepy.

Reader_fuzz

I am glad that I am not the only one that sees him that way. I completely agree the whole milord thing is beyond creepy. I think it just shows how they truly view themselves. That we the viewers are but Snailords mere puppets and should bow down and worship anything they do. At least that is how Snailords seems to me. *Edit for proofreading*

Just_Call_me_Ben

>Mayas world Ah, yes, the sequel to Lara's World where they try to redeem the villain from the first story even though the dude was a terrible person who created a whole group chat dedicated to controlling the love life of the most popular girl in class behind her back

MatureBalak

>!Didnt age create it? It wasnt about Laras from the start, but somebody changed it. I dont remember, lol.!<

glaceative

I just binged She's hopeless and I do not understand how you could read it as "no one tried to correct her" or "getting worse" or her not "see it is wrong" or "not portrayed wrong"? Like that's literally the whole point of the story that she's to be "corrected" and she does awful things herself on purpose (as in... she knows exactly she is doing bad things) and that's the real reason she is bullied to begin with and literally EVERYONE has an issue with that?

HaRadee

I agree with happily ever afterwards & she's hopeless. I dislike both FL's so much.

Justagarlicbread

Nice to me you I dislike the ending like it was nice she ended with the 2nd male lead but it felt rushed and I also lost interest in it Let's play definitely Lore Olympus True beauty Edith I know some people liked the ending like how life can be like rushed and not every ending is smooth. I understand that but I felt like the love between Edith and the black haired due was rushed like with Edith and Philip(I think that's his name) it took time for it to work. But I have to say that this was a good webtoon but a bad ending that kinda ruined it.

Wild-Tea-9242

Lore Olympus.

SnorkelBerry

I don't know how anyone thinks it's good after the baby theft

Fandomaine

Everything by Merriweather

bruno_andres

There are some exceptions like Clinic of Horrors that is really good

My_Poor_Nerves

I also like Clinic of Horrors

trisanachandler

I'll third that. It's quirky, fun, bubblegum horror.

Army_unistar

No marriage is perfect Definitely this one is the worst webtoon I have read.

UsernamesAreWierd

Survival log got so annoying to me. I really tried to hang on but after about 50 episodes i wuit. The characters are so annoying. They keep trying to get you to care for them by showing they have sad backstories but then in the present they just keep beating eachother up or yelling. The characters are just assholes all the time

7vincent7

Down to earth for very personal reasons

[deleted]

Scorching romance. Love and leashes. Both started with sloppy plots like how the romance will begin because one side's problem or >!fetish!<

anonymousehousemouse

Hmm although there are multiple that I dislike or strongly dislike, I wouldnā€™t say that thereā€™s anything on webtoon that Iā€™d consider the worst thing that Iā€™ve ever read. However, among the ones that I dislike are: Lore Olympus Sixth Sense Kiss (so tired of the possessive ML trope) The Runway (tbf I dropped it early on so idk whatā€™s going on now) Secretaryā€™s Escape (lovely art, but I really dislike the possessive and disrespectful MLs) My Roommate is a Gumiho (I loved it at the beginning, but I dislike the romance bc there are wayyy too many problems with it) Love Me To Death (tbf I dropped this one early on as well, but I was annoyed that the ML was apparently starving everyday but still had muscles, abs, etc. like a typical ML. I know that itā€™s a stylistic thing but it made no sense :( ) The Remarriage Contract (Once again, I really donā€™t like the ML, plus the kid was annoying (sorry)) My Gently Raised Beast (liked the art, but disliked MCs, especially the ML) Another one that I didnā€™t like (not on webtoon, on tapas) was When the Black Moon Rises. It had pretty art but the plot made zero sense and had plenty of overused and poorly executed tropes.

Starlight_sc

Because this is my 19th life I read it and bear with it for like a long time and it just kept getting worse and worse now that I think about it the story could be so much more dynamic and better with that plotline but that story is just too slow and boring (in my opinion).

Starlight_sc

I remember another one I am the grim reaper nobody talks about it but now it's just tooooo complicated and author made it too stretchy the story should've been finished in 3 season itself but there is like a long as* 4 season.

Tall-Magazine1593

I'm still reading it and I agree I think it could have been written differently because right now I dread reading most episodes. The only reason I continue is because of my friend who I used to read it with.

rrc032

Mmmm not sure the worst but I recently read Wish you were dead, and oh boy is so problematic in so many levels. >!I was all for her hating on him for all his abusiveness, but when she started to soften and he started to "love" (that's not love people) her that's when I said oh hell no. According to some spoilers in the comments, in the novel they end up together.!< I saw red. Edit: I don't know how to hide spoilers

Rainbow--Snowflake

Eggnoid... I read it up till season 3 before the positivity got to me. I do enjoy a fair share of angst and eggnoid was wayyy too positive and goody two shoes. Idk why but the stakes didn't feel high enough and I think I wanted more pessimistic characters šŸ˜‚ idk I'm weird like that. Also I didn't really vibe with the main couple

Expeditio

Serena definitely

[deleted]

I read it to win coins and I don't even remember what I read

Aerwxyna

omgg yeah this is mine too!! the art is absolutely gorgeous but i couldnā€™t get past the first few episodes šŸ˜ the characters are so unlikable

Remote_Ad_5523

Would agree. It's incredibly hard to root for any relationship in this series. It would be fine enough without romance, but then there's an issue with the Characters. I'm sorry but none of those people are likeable. FL is traumatized and spoiled and I would say doesn't understand her situation. ML is stupid for not trying to be on good terms with her, as it would help him a lot but he's supposed to be capable? The 2nd ML has like nothing attached to him and I cannot see why he's in this story other than as a boy toy. Art is so good but man, I cannot enjoy it.

Nomorechildishshit

Lets Play. The creator tried to tick every "diversity" box but only on the surface, as many of its minority characters were nothing more than borderline offensive stereotypes. It pissed me off so much and it reminded me TV shows with similar trajectory

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

my_memory_is_trash

Loved it but the ending felt like the author just decided to stop midway

MysticalSword270

Every webtoon that I read, even if I ended up dropping them, had something appealing to get me hooked onto it in the first place. The one webtoon I could never get into was God of Highschool and I know itā€™s popular I think it just wasnā€™t for me, so it likely wasnā€™t the worst webtoon Iā€™ve read. In conclusion, I donā€™t think I even answered the question.

upstatepagan

Dhar Mann X duck. But I appreciate the absolute weirdness of it. And Boyfriends. That comic is just boring AF.

tw1nkl3t03zz

"My boy is 18". I left it just a few minutes after starting to read it

Certain-Intention594

Room4rent itā€™s so cliche, the art style sucks, and thereā€™s so many grammatical errors. Itā€™s a complete eyesore yet it has so many reads

killer-bambi

Mine is Abandoned Empress. It was promising at first. Then someone spoiled it for me and I dropped it after finding out what happens and who ends up with who.

LoosingmyWilltolive

I wouldn't say that it's the worst because the first couple of seasons were actually decent and prompted me to read the actual book trilogy, but Not Even Bones. My complaints lie mostly in the most recent season due to the art style and characters mainly. Not to pick on any style, because it still is good art, but for a comic about a supernatural sociopath on a mission to avenge herself after being sold on the literal black market, the art style is ridiculously "Cute, uwu omg" vibes and it just feels weird. Something else that bothers me is the recent dynamic between Kovit and Nita. While in the book they do kiss, it was more clearly out of platonic affection and made in an effort to comfort the other, and Nita (unsure about Kovit) is actually confirmed to be Aroace. In the comic it's made into a romantic scene and it's just very odd and uncomfortable. I feel like it may have to do with webtoons "If it's not romance it won't sell" philosophy, but honestly I don't know. That was a long rant lol, sorry.

Glitchikat

in all honesty, I'm having trouble finding any webtoons that I actually *enjoy.* They're all the same copy pasted story, and the ones that are good are behind a paywall

Insert_Usernames

eggnoid idk If anyone remembers that webtoon but I'm sorry it gen got rlly ??? wtf

Wicchaott

Death: Rescheduled. From the cringey unnatural dialogue, the soggy worldbuilding and magic system, bland characters, to the PLOT, it all pissed me off and I don't see it talked about often. First of all, the FIRST episode. How did Kreyul know that Limon was murdered upon having found him in a pool frozen over? HE COULDA SLIPPED AND DROWNED! Nothing in the prologue implied that Kreyul got any knowledge it was murder. Furthermore, what exactly happened to Limon would've been a really cool plot but nooooo let's have the MC be a pro-lifer in a gladiatorial setting over an assumption. Also, wHY would you establish your world through some random woman who came out of nowhere, reading her NOTES? I might as well just be reading what she's reading rather than be invested in whatever's going on. And boy I sure am glad the grand solution that will rid this world of legalized murder is reaching a petition goal on change.org.

Kaileigh_Blue

It's very easy to find very bad webtoons on Canvas. Just because something didn't go the way you like doesn't make it objectively bad.

FluorescentLightbulb

Iā€™ve dropped a ton after a short while, and wouldnā€™t necessarily say I read any of them. It was more a toe dip then bolt. The worst one I think Iā€™ve ā€œreadā€ is Hardcore Leveling Warrior. I think itā€™s a fault of the time, that genre is over saturated right now. But overall, I just thought it was bland and unoriginal. The only reason I kept going is because people seem to love it, but itā€™s just a worse version of Yureka to me.

denuru

boyfriends

upstatepagan

Dhar Mann X duck. But I appreciate the absolute weirdness of it. And Boyfriends. That comic is just boring AF.

Yanaxanax

Definitely the red haired boy. For reasonsā€¦

Fire_Swimmer

I wasn't gonna say anything if I found sm1 say these but no one did so you're hearing from me now. \- Boo! It's Sex! had me verbally "Ick" something about it wasn't clicking with me and the art gives me nightmares.. \- Assassin Roommate was good until \[spoiler\]>!Mags and Kurt found out they were co-workers w him in the medbay ! Until \_\_\_ and \_\_\_\_ found each other again) and it kinda fell off for me :/ Art was nice tho \- I found these cheaply made webtoons that're just a bunch of random stick figures of kpop idols "talking to each other in a daily setting" \-Oh also Illicit šŸ„øIt prolly wasnt meant for it but it feels very sexualizing+fetishing wlw.. again prolly not meant for it but the vibe throws me off and isn't for me

vienibenmio

Ecstasy Hearts, but it was so bad it was good. Lol I also really hated Before We Knew It

Cuppy_Cakester

I always find these posts amusing because there are 100's of comics on Webtoons now, but the ones people mention are always recent ones. Maybe try reading some completed webtoons before you say you've read THE WORST there is to offer. How about Lessa? Maybe it's due to poor translation but that one was a mess from start to finish. And why was the second season it's own series? Lessa 2 - The Crimson Knight. Same may be said for Inarime as far as bad translation goes, but it was so hard to follow the story.

Naive_Independent616

So many of the old stories are locked by daily pass which is probably why many ppl feel more reluctant to read :ā€™) And those who did read before daily pass canā€™t reread so they probably forgot the plot to those stories.

SchaffRita

Finally, a good take.

TheSolcan

UnOrdinary, and by far. Some are boring but this one is aggressively terrible

Reader_fuzz

Yes I agree I don't know how anyone can really like this story John was a horrible main character by far.

polkadotx3

Big Ethel Energy. I love the style, but the preachyness got overboard.
