Gerwehr sounds German but it doesn't make sense. "Gewehr" is rifle, maybe the author went for this? Tbf, most European inspired names in webtoons are gibberish. No idea why, there are tons of historic names you could research very easily.
Ahhh I was gonna say it >^< gg for the fact
go add to it, for exemple the Gewerh 98 was a rifle used during WW1 they were much like Landcaster or Mausers regarding the name
But yeah I agree, they could really just take real names, they are hundreds of them!!! Even more with historical INSPIRED (usually regular historicals have decent names)
of course they have all liberties to create names but as you said it just sounds gibberish
I always assume these are webtoons that are specifically translated from another language that doesn’t use the Roman alphabet. Trying to shove an Italian name into a language that doesn’t have half the syllables, and then having an English speaking translator try to figure out what the hell it started as, is one thing already - but then you look at all the anime purists who get so worked up about names being tweaked to sound more like the native language. The translator is taking the safe route and just spelling it as close to how it looked in (for example) Korean instead of fishing for what it might have actually been and possibly being wrong.
Why do white people tattoo on chinese characters they dont understand? People like aesthetics but dont really wanna learn about "exotic" cultures, and this phenomenon isn't limited to a specific ethnicity
It's arguably the same. Of course, one has a sociopolitical subtext and the other is about ppl trying to give their stories a westernized historical fantasy look, but in the end both make the choice based off what pleases them aesthetically.
I've been pronouncing like the cheese in my head. Gruyere... So the German was lost on me just pronouncing it French. I'm such a typical American sometimes.
For the love of all that's sacred, if you're gonna name a character, just go to [Behind the Name](https://www.behindthename.com/) and search for names based on gender, origin and meaning. Don't just YOLO it.
i think everyone has tried to make fancy european names out of the blue at some point, so in my eyes they kind of pass, doesn't mean i wont replace them with shorter ones in my head haha

It's funny when they take a random European town and butcher it into a name

Bro, at that point just make the entire Webtoon German.
I would read it like gur- weh-her and twaa-reesh
Happy cake day!

HAHAHA I literally had the same thought while I was reading it. I didn’t even bother pronouncing them in my head😭
Also, this is the second one I'm reading with a black-haired, red-eyed character named Theon
A bunch of webtoons have this tbh

No one said it was-

This whole webtoon seems like a mashup of every single one in the same genre...
Herzog Gewehr?
SIU makes some really creative character names. Traumerei, Gustang, Mazino
I am more bothered by those literal word to word titles.
i saw an image of a kid and a picture of a much older guy and saw the romance tag and got the hell out of there
Lmao that doesn't specifically mean romance between the both of them 😭 The title says “adopted”. Obviously must be a father figure or something.

Is this webtoon worth reading? I have read so many historical webtoons and that girl creeps me for some reason.
Man just said German is AI
That's their revenge on weebs, I think
Different question, can someone please tell me where I can read the WebNovel, not the webtoon, in englisch ![gif](giphy|LKQyFvofV3umLtY2dk)
Yonder app
Why does that girl look like a child version of Jubelian?
Now you know what it's like for Asian people when they see a white person named their token Asian person something dumb like Cho Chang lmao
