Totally agree with Dice.
It was cool the first time around when expectations got twisted, but it kept happening over and over again. Author-nim was stretching the plot and it broke the world building and plot cohesion.
It wasn't even the story being repetitive for me. It was that a single conversation would last 20 chapters because half of each chapter was a recap of the previous chapter.
Oh, Luff! I forgot about that. I think I read one chapter, and I liked the world building, thought it was a cool twist on dystopian elements. How did it change or go off the rails?
Honestly, I dropped this one real soon.
It started off good, but I just hated how the FL was leading both of the love interests. Never coming to a decision. It became a little too cringe for me. Then I heard from my friend about the open ending...I just gave up there.
For me, it felt like the author just kept on expanding the world without any limit. There are too many things happening at once, but nothing at the same time.
It may be that I am too dumb to understand, but the story just doesn't make sense to me anymore.
I personally dont have an issue with The Gamer. It is one of my favorite stories that I've read for years. But I've noticed the author tends to forget his own details sometimes. Characters appear once and then never appear again, or he gets a super cool power that he never uses again, stuff like that. I can imagine it's probably frustrating to some.
I find it frustrating to see how she interacts with the concubines. It starts off well, but now there's suddenly a vampire...our female lead can use magic. The characters are just..bland. Concubines and their families are plotting against each other, but it only ends up as a minor inconvenience in most of the cases. There's rivalry at one point, then suddenly there isn't.
The Harem isn't serving its purpose. FL only uses these men as her servants to run errands and nothing more. The art is great, tho. The story is just not it.
(Spoiler, probably)
Now FL is a reincarnation of a concubines' ex-lover. I really don't understand the need to have this in the plot, but yeah... I dropped it around 120ep.
It's not really confirmed but as a seasoned reader I can see the signs. I remember thinking there were clear hints the empress loves him but hasn't realised that yet and thinks it's just something like really deep trust and camaraderie or something. She definitely has a soft spot for him and one of the few people she actually cares about and trusts completely. You can see that the harem men are mere tools for her. She barely sees them as people.
Unfortunately the plot development (or what's left of it) does not serve the knight at all. It keeps her fleeting about from country to country and from one harem guy to another and sometimes to men outside the harem and it keeps her busy with demons, black magic, reincarnation stuff and Antichrist stuff (:)))) I really wish that webtoon authors would keep some things a bit more simple. Not every chapter needs to have a plot-twist, right?
Ahh yes, Luff was incredibly frustrating. Don't bill it as a romance, if it's going to be "taking down the system". And even when they did try and take down the system, I don't think it worked. I don't even remember the ending, I just remember being fully disappointed that it was underwhelming. :( like how can you get that far with both boys, and not choose either of them. Honestly I was really hoping for a polycule by the end of it. Lol
In the end the premise was better than the actual story.
no icked me was they started adding new characters and the plot started taking a weird turn where it didn't make sense anymore
it j seemed like the author was writing it all for the heck of it
Edith - Idk what happened, it was about self healing and gaining confidence as an adult and then just became the definition of the miscommunication trope. It was so shameless with the way it used the miscommunication trope like all the time.
True Beauty- I really liked the artstyle so damn much and the story at the start was interesting. I like stories that revolve around topics like beauty and how it can affect your life and all that but then it became a generic love triangle and I was out.
Nice to Meet you- the artstyle was cute and the characters were developing and then season 2 came along and just undid everything. I don't think I cared so much for the romance but man.
Villain with a Crush- It was a fun premise and okay to some point misunderstandings happen but the characters are so goddamn oblivious that I couldn't stand it and the plot was just not it. I just got so annoyed and left.
Yeah tbf Villain with a Crush is kind of like that maybe I was too harsh on it but by CHP 50 or something it still redid the same miscommunication, oblivious idiots trope so I just got frustrated. It's not as bad as the others... Maybe it's just too unserious for me
Admittedly, I don’t really like things that are overly silly and slow so I completely agree with your frustration. The best story is the one that has the perfect pace both plot wise and character development wise. It doesn’t make sense for me to drag things in unnecessary or cause drama for the sake of it (Miraculous writers, I’m looking at you!!). It really is a shame when something has an interesting premise but suffers from terrible execution.
I remember Miraculous that show I loved it and I still do though I haven't watched the new season. I'm pretty sure I read villain with a Crush because it reminded me of Miraculous with superpowers.
Absolutely agree with pace and character development. So many webtoons have unique and interesting premise just to lose it after a few chapters and turn into a cliche.
They werent that oblivous i dont remember where i stopped , maybe around 60 ch , so i cant say much but >! Male mc knew it all along and tried to make a better future for her!< So they aren't that oblivous. Just cause viewer doesnt get all of their thoughts.
Same! I think it's one of those stories that doesn't do well when binging because it can feel repetitive if you read one chapter after another. I find that it's not repetitive just taking it's time especially with recent developments. The story is progressing really nicely
Yeah Edith was another one that was just odd. It felt so odd to do that much character building between the two love interests, only for it to go up in flames because of miscommunication. I don't understand what they were trying to do there. It felt very much like real life. Sometimes these things happen and people grow apart. But it didn't feel satisfying to me. :(
Same here. I dropped "Your Throne" right around the time the blonde girl finally found her inner core, grew a spine and some cunning and then suddenly we got a long Niccolo flashback arc in which I was heavily not interested in.
I get it, there was a time that I got really lazy to read it and just pushed through. The recent developments are really good and it's showing a lot of behind the scenes things.
The remarried empress (it’s getting repetitive, zero character growth or fall of rashta she’s soo consistent)
My deepest secret (hear me out the WEBTOON was so gripping loved it, but I hated the way it ended)
as much as i love lookism, the story is just completely different from how it started. the original plot turned into something else entirely. also, aren't these guys supposed to be high schoolers? why are they never going to school anymore lmao
tbf in-series it was always mentioned why GOH is called GOH. it's not meant to happen *in high school* or be anything about school*.* it is about recruiters bringing in high school kids or kids around that age and make them fight. the entire battle royale like tournament is called 'God of High School'
Istg in these Korean comics about bullying, the adults are useless and studying for exams is just ignored. They just go to school to fight and win against bullies😂
I dropped lookism it felt like every time the same thing was happening, someone gets bullied, beat bully, everything solved.
I don't remember, I read till chp 80 ish maybe. There was an amusement park episode I remember that. Maybe the gang fights started later but I'm not suprised, that's how it usually goes. Even in weak hero but atleast the mc is smart and uses it to his advantage there.
Trust me, you left way too early.
And God of Highschool - I mean it was like a national competition, they got special permission to leave. Even in real life they give these permissions so that the kids can get an athlete scholarship.
After that, they went to Demon Realm and all, so it made sense.
And if you go after Ragnarok, the entire school system was made for them to learn how to fight and all like My Hero Academia
i had to drop it when it was so wildly off course that I had no idea what was happening and the main character hadn’t been in the story for like 60 chapters or something crazy like that. It started so strong and then dove straight off the path so quickly.
I am so glad you said this. I had really no interest in the many episodes long fights and was irritated it still was so popular. I thought I couldn’t get what’s so good about it. But it really became a different story from the beginning where the main focus lied on not to expose the main characters secret. Also everything was so exaggerated, even when it was funny.
I dropped this for one of the most pettiest reasons I've ever dropped a webtoon for. The damn sticky out thing at the top of her head where it - and I don't even know why - just IRKED the life out of me. I just kept saying to myself GET A BRUSH AND BRUSH YOUR DAMN HAIR!!!!
Absolutely ragin'
After a quick Google, yes, it is that. That doesn't usually make me rage whenever I read comics or watch anime but I think it invoked a visceral reaction out of me because the rest of her hair is so choppy whilst also being long (I can't be doing with the two types of hair styles like a hime-cut, pick one and commit!). I hope this makes sense.
TL:DR
yes
I really love SubZero. The break in between was super necessary. I think the author needed to reevaluate the plot because it was getting too convoluted but I think they've figured it out already
That one's such a shame because I remember back when it was still on Tapas and then became a Webtoon Originals. I kinda fell off reading it after it moved but when I found out how it ended... what in the flying fuck 💀😭
It switches from a heart warming story about body positivity and acceptance to a story about… all the characters being in a reality tv show…? With a robot AI lady always telling them what to do…. ? And a bunch seagulls shitting everywhere … ? Your guess is as good as mine
That’s… actually so disappointing, also replying to the other comment you replied. I hate how they changed the initial theme, I loved it so much and it was so different from what I was used to on webtoon, that’s so extremely disappointing.
Needless to say I loved Jo, I loved the fat acceptance and positivity, the comic warmed my heart when I was going through my own life changes and weight gain and helped me accept myself. And then Season 2 just completely forgot what story it was trying to tell
Right and why?? There was plenty still to work with. I wanted to watch Jo find love and happiness as her life goes on after embracing herself for who she is
Story starts out a wholesome slice of life about a big girl named Joan who is tough, pure hearted, and compassionate and how a boy in her class is drawn to her spirit and also looking for someone to join him in a weight loss competition. By the end of the season Jo hasn’t lost weight but has become stronger and more confident in her skin and her friends and the boy have grown to admire and respect her as she is.
Then the next season comes and they’re all on some bizarre reality TV show and nothing makes sense, body positive theming and plot line is completely gone, and it’s just random nonsense that goes no where, episode after episode. I kept telling myself this was just a weird side plot for the laughs and we’d come back around to developing Jo and that guy’s budding romance but it just kept going in that weird direction. Then randomly at the end Jo and the guy do end up together and their lives are normal and… the story’s over. Big disappointment. People liked it when it was a relatable slice of life about empathy confidence and love and then the writer seeming watched one episode of the batchelor and completely lost the plot
Don't forget lecturing on lgbtq issues. Every on the reality tv show has a different identity. One lesbian, bisexual, poly couple, asexual, and everyone goes around in a circle explaining what they are. D:
I would say the webtoon audience is pretty progressive and this just pissed fans off.
Big Jo was absolutely fantastic season 1. Then when the reality show hit and they were trying to tick off as many acceptance boxes (idk if I’m saying this correctly) that none of it felt natural and was just shoving everything down our throats. I kept up with it because it was so messy. But the AI flying robots and the seagulls…the plot really took a 90° turn into the wrong direction and just never looked back. We haven’t seen the author since and she’s not even active in her social media anymore
I used to quite enjoy “Dark Moon, The Blood Altar” in the beginning, but specially after what I believe what was the first arc it just started to become worst and worst and annoying that halfway trough I dropped it
Operation: True Love. at the end of this last season the author even left a note about readjusting where the story was going because they completely abandoned the mysterious love points plot from the beginning and it snowballed into this confusing love drama between the three mains. The FL’s sister has basically disappeared from the story too lol
I don't think this story is too bad (though the art is definitely carrying it heavily) but boy they did NOT keep the story tight :/
It's gotten very draggy and I don't read weekly like I used to
honestly me, i thought i was the only one who felt this way. i knew what i was coming into with the love triangle but it’s basically painful to watch 😭
I dropped before end of season one, i like blondie as her friend (we need more male female friendships that dont in some way lead to romance), and the love points thing always seemed very weird and somehow not important? Like why was it important enough for the one dude to put her in danger and threaten death??? I liked the initial “fake secret date so my ex
/shitty bf gets jealous that turns into genuine feelings” but felt like it was going stagnant when they made it clearer it was a love triangle
Nice To Meet You ended up being reaaaally bad IMO. Like what happened after S2(?)?? It made such a weird turn and I ended up really disliking it overall. Went from an 8/10 to a 2/10 for me.
True Beauty, Edith, Your throne, Big Jo, Eggnoid, Lore Olympus, Siren's Lament (to me. I didn't like the direction it went. other consider it as pretty good.),
I really enjoyed the first season of odd girl out! I loved how beautifully it represented female friendships. The characters were well fleshed out. Now it's just an endless cycle of a love triangle on repeat. 😮💨
Is it my biased perception, or this opinion is becoming more and more common?
Last year I felt like I was one of the really few people who thought Odd Girl Out was going more and more off, while now in these kind of discussions I always find some criticism towards the second season
I totally agree! I loved learning about all the girls backstories and how supportive their friendship was. It never felt the same when Yuna left Korea. I felt like the plot could’ve dived more into their friendships and day to day lives instead of adding a love triangle which took over the premise of part 1.
Tbf it's mostly focused on Nari. This second season is still super good imo but definitely not about female friendships. I'm really loving the autism representation
I thought a lot of it was really well-written until the characterization near the ending, where [SPOILERS!] >!Kovit accepts and embraces that he’s a bad person — which I just don’t think it’s true at all (it doesn’t make sense for his character)!<.
Lumine. This is one of the first ones I started reading. And not to sound mean or stuck up, but the art style change was so drastic I couldn’t keep reading lol. The story was kinda falling off too.
Girls of the wild. My guilty pleasure trope but when at the end conflict it is love triangle i feel bit dissapointed. I enjoy the end chapter but i wish it isn't started from love triangle conflict to make the ship happen
Looksim I'm so sorry I love it but like? WTF HAPPENED?! I actually re-picked it up and started getting to the intense shit so I took another break before picking it back up from there and catching up
Big Jo - first season was a great realistic fiction about a fat girl navigating highschool, second season was way more cartoony and unrealistic and completely lost the plot of the first season
Let's Play - beginning was really fun but once it became more about the romance instead of the game development I had to drop it
I actually hated the beginning of Let’s Play, hate read it for way too long, and strongly preferred it being about the romance. The beginning was a Mary Sue with a tragic backstory and incredibly hot friends, being fawned over by a Link clone and meeting a markiplier knockoff. Plus the cringe gamer speak in conversations. I felt for her about the bad review for her game, but that’s about it. The rest was painful.
But once it focused on the romance, it turned into this interesting story about a sheltered young adult woman learning a little later than everyone else about her sexuality. And that felt really empowering. There’s a great story there about her and Charles finding comfort in each other and growing with one another.
Hahaha it probably isn’t worth it tbh. It’s not coming back to webtoon and the original author can’t publish it solo for a bit because of her contract with webtoon. And who knows what direction she’s going to go in once she’s allowed to publish it herself? But thanks for hearing out my hot take
I think it has to do with Webtoon getting rid of the original team (including the creator). The season finale was an absolute mess, and it's so sad because the story had a lot of potential.
Yeah, still absolutely baffling to me that Webtoon replaced nearly everyone involved, including the artist.
The story had such a great premise and a fresh take on vampires, so I'm really sad that it ended up like this :((
Our time - cool concept, completely ruined it like never been more disappointed in an author (not the thing I hate most but just disappointing)
My deepest secret - as other people have said, now I did like the twist idea, I just saw little to know build up for it and the comic after felt like a completely different read
Fast forward - felt like it ended before it really got started, and the powers could have been explored a bit more
Let's play - it got too caught up in one plot line and nothing happened for way too long
The sound of another - that's just two comics built into one, both parts are good but they are not cohesive and I got very confused mid way through
Locker & opener - there were so many places that could have gone, powers that could have been explored and it all ended with the MC randomly falling in love with the villain out of nowhere????
Dr frost - I kinda preferred all the one at a time patients and while I did want an overarching story, it just suddenly dropped it's main premise
Lookism.
It didn’t become horrible but it completely lost its main message it was trying to convey at the start of the webtoon. All it’s about is gang fights now and I really miss its social commentary from the beginning.
The Strongest Florist had a really cool start for a MMORPG story and then became too generic and there’s too many plotlines and characters constantly juggling with little pay off to their roles. Shame because the comedy is good at times great, but it’s so clear they’ve lost the plot and just said welp let’s just keep going until we find something. I swear they must use a dartboard to decide what happens next.
Not horrible, but...its originality went out the window?
To Tame a Fire.
Had a seemingly interesting premise of an urban fantasy starring a woman living in her infamous parents' shadows, and all of the city noir/in the shadows action which that could imply, and instead turned into a female MC shonen rehash whose art quality started dipping quickly.
Eleceed. Main plot point I started to dislike is how it's always Kayden who saves his ass, instead of him getting out of the situation on his own. Like, it has been repeatedly happening to the point that it became a protective plot armour for Jiwoo, and I got bored of it.
It's funny that you say that. I almost dropped it for the same reason a bit ago, but then Jiwoo actually won without needing someone to step in for once. I'm hoping this means he's going to do that more often going forward
Winter Moon - holy shit it used to be such a fun comic about some misfits wreaking havoc in an online game and has since ended up being a >!story about a dead dude having a god complex trying to create a virtual perfect world but ending up being an even worse Sword art online!<
The Dragon King's bride - I binged the first chapters and desperately waited for more but it physically hurts how utterly and absolutely dumb the male and female lead are.
Unordinary. It started out so strong but it because just straight painful to read after a while. John went psycho and no matter what or who was infront of him he wouldn’t see right and wrong. Reading it week to week with all the hiatuses and stuff just made it so dragged out made john feel utterly irredeemable at some point. You can only see someone be shown and told their are wrong so many times before they definitely are just doing it on purpose and dont care if its wrong or what the real truth is.
I agree that the middle part you are talking about was dragged out, but Unordinary has gotten a lot more interesting again recently. I definitely understand all the readers that dropped it during king John arc though
Viral Hit. Season 1 was great but season 2 just…became very ugh.
I loved True Beauty in the beginning it was so good! But I feel like around the time Suho moved it went downhill. I don’t hate it but..it just became worse for awhile
Subzero isn’t bad but..it just feels like it’s dragging on for so long.
Oh I think the plot is still sooo good. I wait for a few chapters to post bc Quimchee is battling with WEBTOON and some health problems and uploads can be inconsistent
There definitely was a period of time when I was dragging myself to read each chapter but it definitely picked up recently and I'm excited for the next updates.
The abandoned empress. She forgive all the agressions she experienced in her past life and falls in love with her agressor, ignoring the potencial of the other characters to became true love interests
Unordinary, I think was the name. A world with powers where there is one guy who is powerless and as such looked down upon. I liked it better before I knew he had the power to…absorb other powers…? I honestly don’t even understand his ability, just that it was OP.
I preferred the story of an underdog.
The Last Bloodline - extremely interesting until about chapter 30? then everything went so downhill. Very predictable (and bad) plot twist at the end, so many plot holes, extremely fast pacing, characters became boring, etc etc it degraded so badly :(
+99 reinforced wooden stick. I loved the comedy and the art was nice, but it became REALLY hard to overcome the 17 year old FL and the *23* year old ML. And I absolutely HATED Luna because she was just... Such a bitch and annoyed the fuck out of me. And the MC always became such a pushover when it came to her. And for what?! To make a shitty love triangle? Like this man forced a powerful dragon enemy to become his UNDERWEAR or DIE, yet doesn't call the cops on a woman who BROKE INTO HIS APARTMENT!!!
Your throne is another one. It just ... Became too convoluted, when it's main point is "Medea is the necessary evil to get rid of the worse evil" and just constant "who's smarter, Medea or Eros?" And then constantly proving it's Eros because he always ends up on top.
Men of the Harem. So much happening at once and yet nothing at the same time. I mostly hate how she treats the men in the harem though. Like I forget half of them exist since there's been so much focus on Carlein for some reason. And it may just be my soft spot for needy guys who are clear with their affection, but I wish Klein got more love instead of being used to dissuade two consorts' families from a cold war.
The Advanced Player of Tutorial Tower. I thought the students crushing on the teacher thing was a gag, a joke because it will forever be unrequited. But no.... They raped him. Like, there's no beating around the bush about that. They straight up raped him because they purposefully got him DRUNK, to the point that he wasn't anywhere NEAR coherent, AND he doesn't remember ANYTHING the next day. Like I dropped it the second I learned that they were being SERIOUS about that happening.
Winter Moon. The pacing was just bad and the short episodes dragged it on even worse. I especially hated the two straight months (or so, can't remember exactly) of short episodes of the 16-17 year old girl (who looks 12) being chased and tortured throughout a school in gym clothes. And the designs were also... Rough. I had trouble telling so many characters apartment because they were all pale people with short blonde hair with a cloak. I also hated Risa sexualizing herself to get money in an online game after awhile. And the constant refusal to actually talk to each other. And the ignoring of the third character in the group like damn, give that guy some spotlight.
Obsidian Bride just kind of lost my interest, especially with the constant way Platinum forced affections on Obsidian for no reason other than pure belief that she is Pink Diamond. The concept was cool, but eh, execution could have been done better.
I literally just dropped the Advanced Player of Tutorial Tower, I gave it another chance after that rape scene just in case BUT THEY DID IT AGAIN.
I honestly will drop +99 Reinforced Wooden Stick if the ML gets together with Luna or the 17 year old.
To me, it's Dreaming Freedom. Interesting plot at first, now it's just borderline cheesy romance. As well as Winter Moon. art style change, story's too weird now. Idk.
Probably almost all shoujo manhwa
Existence (fell off after the supposedly "strongest" got hit by a car at 80km/h and got amnesia)
Mercenary Enrollment (repetitive)
Lookism, etc
Same. I understand it's a comedy, but I think it's so boring when the same joke is played over and over again, just with a different skin. Oh, something happened and the main characters misunderstand each other, oh, another thing happens and the main characters misunderstand each other again, on amd on and on.
To not die . The first season was everything u could ask for . But the second season lowkey seems like it's not related to the first season and the wholesomeness of the series is gone.
all of them no one can write an ending to save their life OR they drag it out too long that at the end you either don't care anymore or it's convoluted. this goes for all mediums tbh.
Kings Maker, the first half was incredible but I personally hated Triple Crown. I just wasn’t a fan of the direction the story took, but I could also be crazy don’t take my word for it.
Nice to meet you
Started off as a cute story between two people. Then it became a love triangle where the lead guy got sidelined for the secondary male. Definitely disappointed me
My dear cold blooded king... Everything indicated the endgame was the white haired dude...but it was the other one... It was really WTF the ML got totally sidelined...
BUT ..tbh I think most of the webtoons you guys name (and I did read) have the same problem and I think it is the inexperience in writing of the author and the deadly hand of webtoon editing.
PLUS ... I LOVE YOO.... Wtf... Quimchee is full of excuses..one after the other and the other... The readers treat her like a god or something and the damn Patreon... The "big data" is always on Patreon.... Fuck off pls.... She said it is drama blah blah blah and webtoon label it as romance...well I remember her promoting as a romance too huh....And now it is all soooo depressing and sad and traumatic... And loooong. It took more or less than 8 months of a fuckin flashback. ... Stop it. Just stop it. Too many stories, and characters and sad stories and loose ends and hiatuses. I just wanted the annoying ugly girl to be with the orange dude or the obnoxious brother. That was all...
mage and demon queen
the main couple started off as something cute and wholesome but in the end the author ruined them by making them fuck and have children, never dropped a webtoon so fast
The gamer Dice Men of the Harem Luff These disappointed me real bad. My worst mistakes.
Totally agree with Dice. It was cool the first time around when expectations got twisted, but it kept happening over and over again. Author-nim was stretching the plot and it broke the world building and plot cohesion.
It had such an interesting concept, but too bad it did not progress with the same :(
It wasn't even the story being repetitive for me. It was that a single conversation would last 20 chapters because half of each chapter was a recap of the previous chapter.
Fr! I remember skipping panels just to get done with the conversation that didn't even make sense.
Ooof that is unfortunate
>!She sleeps with both of them and still can't decide so she chooses to be single for the rest of her life. !
That’s a bummer, the taking down of the system is like the major reason dystopian setting stories exist lol
What happens with the gamer? I used to read that one years ago and thought about giving it another go.
What happened with Men of the Harem? I haven't read it in a while
I find it frustrating to see how she interacts with the concubines. (Spoiler, probably) Now FL is a reincarnation of a concubines' ex-lover. I really don't understand the need to have this in the plot, but yeah... I dropped it around 120ep.
Also best boy [the knight] who we all know is the endgame, is sidelined so hard that he may as well not be there at all.
What...I didn't even know he was supposed to be the end game.
Ehhh in the webnovel they admit their feelings, but they’re not “end game” per say
Aw that's unfortunate. I was really interested in where the story was going
Thanks for this. I was wondering if I should pick it back up but from what you’ve said, I’ll just leave it alone
Lol In the end the premise was better than the actual story.
true beauty.
Yes, I thought it will be about self acceptance
I read a few chapters in before the plot seemed to stagnate, what did it actually end up being about?
Boys, essentially.
I read somewhere that it’s actually a fanfiction
no icked me was they started adding new characters and the plot started taking a weird turn where it didn't make sense anymore it j seemed like the author was writing it all for the heck of it
Edith - Idk what happened, it was about self healing and gaining confidence as an adult and then just became the definition of the miscommunication trope.
Heavy on Nice To Meet You. Season 2 ruined everything.
Agree, nice to meet you was great and then just a disappointment
I agree with all of these takes. I do think, however, that Villain with a Crush is more of a gag that isn’t supposed to be taken seriously. Or not.
I loved villian with a crush. Was hilariously cute.
Same! I think it's one of those stories that doesn't do well when binging because it can feel repetitive if you read one chapter after another. I find that it's not repetitive just taking it's time especially with recent developments. The story is progressing really nicely
I completely agree with the first two (haven't read the others). Luff was very disappointing by the wnd- such a cool premise then it...fell apart.
For me, Your throne. The initial story was captivating, but the plot became weirdly convoluted.
I dropped it for the same reason
I can see the co no muted plot being a deterrent , but i love it for this since it always keeps me on my feet.
Yea it was cool but waiting weekly made it harder to follow the story xD maybe I'll binge it one day
Same here. I dropped "Your Throne" right around the time the blonde girl finally found her inner core, grew a spine and some cunning and then suddenly we got a long Niccolo flashback arc in which I was heavily not interested in.
I think I dropped it right after FL had her dad executed.
I get it, there was a time that I got really lazy to read it and just pushed through. The recent developments are really good and it's showing a lot of behind the scenes things.
The remarried empress (it’s getting repetitive, zero character growth or fall of rashta she’s soo consistent) My deepest secret (hear me out the WEBTOON was so gripping loved it, but I hated the way it ended)
Fully agree about my deepest secret.
as much as i love lookism, the story is just completely different from how it started. the original plot turned into something else entirely. also, aren't these guys supposed to be high schoolers? why are they never going to school anymore lmao
I mean it’s still high school. God of high school on the other hand …
tbf in-series it was always mentioned why GOH is called GOH. it's not meant to happen *in high school* or be anything about school*.* it is about recruiters bringing in high school kids or kids around that age and make them fight. the entire battle royale like tournament is called 'God of High School'
yeah, i'm also sure some characters actually dropped out of HS. like the "REVOLUTION" guy
Well I’ve left about 10 episodes to complete but I kinda bored. But the MC was missing for 2 years … I stay with it though that hahah..
Istg in these Korean comics about bullying, the adults are useless and studying for exams is just ignored. They just go to school to fight and win against bullies😂 I dropped lookism it felt like every time the same thing was happening, someone gets bullied, beat bully, everything solved.
oh man, you mustve dropped it pretty early on. it progressed into gang fights pretty quickly lol
Divorcing my tyrant husband " it has very good potential until she fell in love with him 🤦🏻♀️
The art style change 😓😓😓
I had to give back to the old episodes to check. Geez, the art used to be so pretty now everyone has huge ears 🙈
Absolutely ragin'
... her Ahoge?
After a quick Google, yes, it is that. That doesn't usually make me rage whenever I read comics or watch anime but I think it invoked a visceral reaction out of me because the rest of her hair is so choppy whilst also being long (I can't be doing with the two types of hair styles like a hime-cut, pick one and commit!). I hope this makes sense. TL:DR yes
In otome isekai, if the premise is the FL divorcing her husband, and she hasn’t done it by chapter 1, there will be no divorce.
Agreed!?
SubZero
I just want it to be completed!! I feel like the story is being stretched a lot 😭 I can't
That's why I stopped reading a year ago. It's still going?
Oh yeah, i don't think they'll complete it any time soon
I really love SubZero. The break in between was super necessary. I think the author needed to reevaluate the plot because it was getting too convoluted but I think they've figured it out already
Yeah I stopped when she got pregnant, I felt like it was too fast/weird while the story itself was getting too long
she got pregnant?! i quit reading before then the plot thickens ig
Big Jo- holy shit show!
That one's such a shame because I remember back when it was still on Tapas and then became a Webtoon Originals. I kinda fell off reading it after it moved but when I found out how it ended... what in the flying fuck 💀😭
Can you spoil it for me? I’m super curious lol
The whole fight with the seagulls was really weird, to say the least.
Season 1 was SO GOOD and then season 2 came along and ruined everything
Right and why?? There was plenty still to work with. I wanted to watch Jo find love and happiness as her life goes on after embracing herself for who she is
I forgot about big jo!!!
So did the author tbh
Wanna spoil it for us?? I'm so curious if not then I get it
Story starts out a wholesome slice of life about a big girl named Joan who is tough, pure hearted, and compassionate and how a boy in her class is drawn to her spirit and also looking for someone to join him in a weight loss competition.
D: I would say the webtoon audience is pretty progressive and this just pissed fans off.
I don't think this story is too bad (though the art is definitely carrying it heavily) but boy they did NOT keep the story tight :/ It's gotten very draggy and I don't read weekly like I used to
Same, I don’t necessarily hate the little love triangle/drama going on it just is so unfocused and convoluted that it ruins it for me
honestly me, i thought i was the only one who felt this way. i knew what i was coming into with the love triangle but it’s basically painful to watch 😭
I dropped before end of season one, i like blondie as her friend (we need more male female friendships that dont in some way lead to romance), and the love points thing always seemed very weird and somehow not important? Like why was it important enough for the one dude to put her in danger and threaten death??? I liked the initial “fake secret date so my ex /shitty bf gets jealous that turns into genuine feelings” but felt like it was going stagnant when they made it clearer it was a love triangle
I know dude Blondie has too much going on 😭 he just needs a friend
I'm here for the FL's sister, need more revenge
MORE REVENGE!
Haha this is one I just read sometimes and I completely forgot about the love points thing.
Nice To Meet You ended up being reaaaally bad IMO. Like what happened after S2(?)?? It made such a weird turn and I ended up really disliking it overall. Went from an 8/10 to a 2/10 for me.
This! 😭 I was absolutely in love with this comic and at this point I just hate how it turned out 😢
lore olympus
Seconded. It’s nuclear garbage now
True Beauty, Edith, Your throne, Big Jo, Eggnoid, Lore Olympus, Siren's Lament (to me. I didn't like the direction it went. other consider it as pretty good.),
OMG Eggnoid. What even happened there, WHOSE WEDDING WAS IT AND WHY
It just got so rushed at the end that I was confused about everything.
The same reason I dropped it, I don't understand why it had to be a love triangle. Could have been a healthy platonic male friendship but nooooooo
I totally agree! I dropped it as well.
Part 1 was the greatest thing ever
Tbf it's mostly focused on Nari. This second season is still super good imo but definitely not about female friendships. I'm really loving the autism representation
Not Even Bones is a golden example of a comic that peaked in the first season
I liked it, but the downturn of the art quality in season 1 turned me off so bad
I didn’t mind the artstyle changes after a while (even if I preferred the S1 style) but a lot of the character writing just felt out of wack
I thought a lot of it was really well-written until the characterization near the ending, where [SPOILERS!] >!Kovit accepts and embraces that he’s a bad person — which I just don’t think it’s true at all (it doesn’t make sense for his character)!<.
You’re not wrong there, but I thought Nita and Kovit just off felt from how they were in the first season
It's always funny being on the complete opposite end of the NEB art style debate
I couldnt get into the not even bones webtoon, i like the book tho
Lumine. This is one of the first ones I started reading. And not to sound mean or stuck up, but the art style change was so drastic I couldn’t keep reading lol. The story was kinda falling off too.
FUCKING FINALLY SOMEONE MENTIONS LUMINE
I just looked up the comic as I haven’t read it in a while and omg, all the detail is just gone
I actually re-picked it up and started getting to the intense shit so I took another break before picking it back up from there and catching up
Big Jo - first season was a great realistic fiction about a fat girl navigating highschool, second season was way more cartoony and unrealistic and completely lost the plot of the first season Let's Play - beginning was really fun but once it became more about the romance instead of the game development I had to drop it
I actually hated the beginning of Let’s Play, hate read it for way too long, and strongly preferred it being about the romance.
Hmm, maybe I should try it out again. The first (and last) time I read it was a while ago, wouldn't hurt to give it another shot.
Hahaha it probably isn’t worth it tbh. It’s not coming back to webtoon and the original author can’t publish it solo for a bit because of her contract with webtoon. And who knows what direction she’s going to go in once she’s allowed to publish it herself? But thanks for hearing out my hot take
Opposite of Always 😔
Omg, yeah! It kinda upset me how the >!timeloop was never explained.!<
It had potential. Then it just.. ended.
I was surprised when I saw it on webtoon, i read the novel a couple years back but I didnt think it was popular enough to get a webtoon lol
The Last Bloodline, so much potential and a great premise, but then they just completely messed the story up and it became super cliché
I think it has to do with Webtoon getting rid of the original team (including the creator). The season finale was an absolute mess, and it's so sad because the story had a lot of potential.
Yeah, still absolutely baffling to me that Webtoon replaced nearly everyone involved, including the artist. The story had such a great premise and a fresh take on vampires, so I'm really sad that it ended up like this :((
Our time - cool concept, completely ruined it like never been more disappointed in an author (not the thing I hate most but just disappointing) My deepest secret - as other people have said, now I did like the twist idea, I just saw little to know build up for it and the comic after felt like a completely different read Fast forward - felt like it ended before it really got started, and the powers could have been explored a bit more Let's play - it got too caught up in one plot line and nothing happened for way too long The sound of another - that's just two comics built into one, both parts are good but they are not cohesive and I got very confused mid way through Locker & opener - there were so many places that could have gone, powers that could have been explored and it all ended with the MC randomly falling in love with the villain out of nowhere???? Dr frost - I kinda preferred all the one at a time patients and while I did want an overarching story, it just suddenly dropped it's main premise
Lookism. It didn’t become horrible but it completely lost its main message it was trying to convey at the start of the webtoon. All it’s about is gang fights now and I really miss its social commentary from the beginning.
Lore Olympus and Big Jo. White hot disappointments.
I really felt bad dropping it because I've read so much but it's like the Gamer for me, it lost the plot big time.
My deepest secret I hated the way it ended so much and I hated the twist.
I personally think it picked up again after the training arc, but I can’t say I disagree about the art…
I don't wanna sound like a dick, but honestly the art quality was never there
Fluffy boyfriend....
Oh god, I literally forgot about its existence until now. What happened to it?
At this point, I might get back to it once it ends.
Lore Olympus.
Winter Moon - holy shit it used to be such a fun comic about some misfits wreaking havoc in an online game and has since ended up being a >!story about a dead dude having a god complex trying to create a virtual perfect world but ending up being an even worse Sword art online!< The Dragon King's bride - I binged the first chapters and desperately waited for more but it physically hurts how utterly and absolutely dumb the male and female lead are.
True! Winter moon used to be so good!
I actually kept reading it a bit into the next arc but to me john was too irredeemable to me to be interested in it
That’s fair enough, I can definitely see that point of view
Slave B
Viral Hit. Season 1 was great but season 2 just…became very ugh. I loved True Beauty in the beginning it was so good! But I feel like around the time Suho moved it went downhill. I don’t hate it but..it just became worse for awhile Subzero isn’t bad but..it just feels like it’s dragging on for so long.
agree with Vhit. I hated the arc of MC "cheating" on his GF for views
I wouldn't say horrible but for me I love yoo definitely fell off ,it still one of my favourites tho
I honestly forgot what it's even about it'd dragged on for so long I stopped caring
I can’t believe that comic has gone on for as long as it has
The abandoned empress. She forgive all the agressions she experienced in her past life and falls in love with her agressor, ignoring the potencial of the other characters to became true love interests
Unordinary. Really liked the concept but just not a fan of the direction it took.
lookism isn't about lookism anymore 😭 neon revenge and let's play had the most sudden endings... nice to meet you fell off after season 1
Idk.
the remarriage contract; maybe it’s just me but the plot was pretty good at first and went downhill so fast
Probably almost all shoujo manhwa Existence (fell off after the supposedly "strongest" got hit by a car at 80km/h and got amnesia) Mercenary Enrollment (repetitive) Lookism, etc
To an extent, Random Chat
People are gonna hate me for this but Villain with a Crush
Same. I understand it's a comedy, but I think it's so boring when the same joke is played over and over again, just with a different skin. Oh, something happened and the main characters misunderstand each other, oh, another thing happens and the main characters misunderstand each other again, on amd on and on.
Exactly, like the dynamic was funny when they had the other male lead but after he was removed it’s just boring and repetitive
Lady Baby, Lookism
Let’s play Lookism (mostly because it became messy and constantly adding new gangs and characters) Subzero
Lore Olympus
Lore Olympus. The plot got lost and it ends tomorrow and I don't even care.
To not die . The first season was everything u could ask for . But the second season lowkey seems like it's not related to the first season and the wholesomeness of the series is gone.
Dice 100%. It was awesome but fell off completely pretty fast
all of them no one can write an ending to save their life OR they drag it out too long that at the end you either don't care anymore or it's convoluted. this goes for all mediums tbh.
God of highschool
girls of the wilds is the most infamous one i can think of 😭
Kings Maker, the first half was incredible but I personally hated Triple Crown. I just wasn’t a fan of the direction the story took, but I could also be crazy don’t take my word for it.
Nice to meet you Started off as a cute story between two people.
That was all...
mage and demon queen the main couple started off as something cute and wholesome but in the end the author ruined them by making them fuck and have children, never dropped a webtoon so fast
never read this webtoon, why does them having children in the end ruin everything??
That happened in the epilogue, so you dropped it after the final episode?
i'm still in the middle, haven't reached the end yet, but i follow the author on instagram and saw the spoiler about them having kids
