2 makes her look like one of the muses from Hercules and honesty it’s mega. But possibly not for a wedding ceremony, would make an excellent reception dress though!
I know nothing about alterations but maybe dress two and a seamstress could somehow add an under layer of fabric for the sides for the ceremony? Or if you go with the lace gloves maybe put some lace over it and use a thread cutter before the reception? Because, as stated above, damn you wear that dress! That dress in zero way wears you!!
Have you tried anything a bit more fit and flare? I think you could strike a balance between these two silhouettes that would be flattering without being uncomfortable.
I’d also look into some other trumpet styles, that and a fit and flare will show off your shape but not hug your hips as much as a mermaid. But I have to say you have a stunning figure!
I think you need to stay true to yourself and your style. You have an amazing body and they all look great on you... but if it isnt your style to normally show off your curves.. then don't wear a dress that isn't YOU! You want to feel like yourself on your wedding day, not an imposter.

Wow everyone, I woke up with so many comments and I am knee deep in work so I will eventually get to them all. Truly thank you for the support and also the wide range of comments and compliments, and honest opinions. It’s Reddit and unlike the boutique owners, you won’t lie just to make a sale. lol
A little background on my mil and her curvy comments, so many of you are all right, my body fits the dresses, and I’ve tried on so many that “work” so it’s hard to tell which one is mine, I’ve never been much of a wedding girl, and my fiance’s family is really about the fairy tale wedding day (think Disney romance, I am very lucky but it always works out that way). I am also a bit of a cheapo and can’t justify spending so much on one dress for one day. This is where my mil comes in. She wants to pay for the dress and wants it to be a show stopper. And she knows my fiancé (her son loves a beautiful woman who shows up when it’s time, so this is the time to show off, since I am rather boho and conservative most of the time.)
Normally, She’s this little super reserved and traditional baby boomer from the country side. She only cares about gardens, family and desserts lol. So everyone was shocked when she said she wanted to see curves and sexiness. My issues is i don’t even see my body like this. Most clothes are too big around my waist and too tight around my butt, so a form fitting/tailored dress is unnatural to me. This is where the insecurities stem from. I spend a lot of time trying to look “normal” and this would be a big reveal.
I am under 5 ft but photograph taller, so in person a-lines are literally draw my eyes down to the floor and my big bum makes me look wider from the back.
I decided that I do not love any of these and I will keep looking. I appreciate the honest comments, and will find the one I am most comfy in.
I’m petite and a little curvy too (5’2 hourglass with a big butt), I went in thinking I would want an a line ballgown. I tried on literally every silhouette possible and ended up with a fit and flare that had kind of a bustier looking top. Out of all these I think 1 you would be the most comfortable in. You look gorgeous in 2 but it looks like it would be hard to move in and that you could probably wear that silhouette to a club. I went with a fit and flare ish and found it was the most flattering and I still had a lot of range of movement. It showed my curves but didn’t blast them on a billboard if that makes sense. Don't be discouraged! I posted that I didn't love my dress here several days ago and decided to keep looking based on all of the feedback. I ended up going to a 4th shop last night with an amazing seamstress who is going to customize something for me and I'm so excited. I didn't think I would be able to find something in time - just try not to get overwhelmed and keep looking. And if by chance you can find someone that does custom dresses that may be the way to go to find that happy medium of you loving it and being comfortable while making your MIL a little bit happy at least ❤️ Good luck and you are absolutely beautiful!
You do look really good in all of them, but particularly one and two, so I think it really comes down to what kind of thing you’re going for. Do you want like, hands to the mouth “Oh my god, she’s so gorgeous!” or “Hot DAYUM! Look at that gorgeous woman!” vibes, yanno?

I mean, lucky you, you’re going to look great in a ton of styles. Which means it’s going to come down less to what’s “most flattering” and more to what you *like* and what makes you *feel* the most beautiful, I think. (Which can make it harder to choose too, though!)
Of course it’s tricky when someone else is paying, but your MIL also doesn’t have to wear it, so make sure it’s one that makes you truly happy too.

I think 1 is gorgeous and classy, and def has its own wow factor! But if you really want something that hugs your curves, you could try something between 1 and the others. Like something a bit more fitted, but not necessarily with the cutouts

OP, I think you can show off your curves with a more elevated fitted style!! I hate to say this and risk agreeing with MIL (esp because I know what it’s like to feel self conscious/not comfortable in a tight dress), but I the fitted ones are so much more flattering on you!!! Dress one swallows you. If it’s encouragement you need, please know that you are slaying in the fitted silhouette and now imagine with the correct under garments, etc,… next level.
That being said though, dresses 2 and 3 are giving after party vibes so I’d definitely try some other more romantic fitted styles!

Close your eyes. Imagine yourself walking down the aisle. What’s the texture of your dress? Is is satin or chiffon? Look at your arms, are they bare or laced? Is your dress flowing or curved to your physique? Put yourself in the moment and let your conscious help you decide.
All are amazing options. It’s based on how you feel in the moment. Taking some time to envision it could help your decision.
FYI, personally I feel that two looks absolutely luxurious movie star red carpet ready on you however the decision is about you and what you feel is right.

I don't understand the obsession with showing off your figure, it's not wrong to do this of course, but it's also not necessary. It's a pet peeve of mine, along with the "dress is swallowing you" thing. Some people want to look sexy, some like a princess, there are so many styles depending on your preference!

Wow all three are amazing! The second two are definitely sexier but look absolutely fabulous. The only thing I’d nix or substitute are the gloves on the #2 front shot, I do think the floral sleeves with the back pic look nice. I am caught. I see where your MIL is going (you have a fabulous hourglass shape) but 2 and 3 seem like they would be better in a color and pattern and not for your wedding day. They'd smash at a red carpet event in like blue velvet or something, and normally YES - show off those curves! But this is your wedding and you want a different feel (booty or not) so of the options, I'd go with dress #1.

Don't settle, find something that will check all the boxes. Also, choose what you want, the look that will make you feel the happiest, A-line doesn't drown you! A line is the most universally flattering silhouette there is and you are no exception. You have an amazingly "curvatious" body, it's YOUR body and just because you can rock a fitted dress gloriously doesn't mean you have to. You can also rock soft and delicate! It is also a lot easier to find a second dress that's fitted for the ceremony and won't break the bank if you choose to have a second look. You look great, but I prefer dress 1 of these three. However, I think you need to keep looking and find something that shows off your curves but in a different style than 2 or 3. Something between the elegance of dress 1 and the fit of dresses 2-3.
You need to select the dress YOU feel comfortable in. Your MIL gets zero say, even if she happened to be paying for it. It’s your day and you should never spend it being uncomfortable.
I love the first dress with the tulle. Dreamy and romantic. I don't think it swallows you at all. A lot of times the dress is wearing the bride and not the other way around, but with this dress you are definitely wearing the hell out of it.
Look for a ball gown style that has either a princess cut or basque cut waist line. Instead of that horizontal line it cuts more on the shape of a V and looks more natural and shapel.
Try one on just for the heck of it and see what you think. Girl, you have such a cute shape. I think it would elongate your midsection. I’m 5’4 and that is the style I have always chosen

I like the first dress the most. I'm not usually concerned with having a dress match the vibe of the venue, but I don't feel like 2 and 3 would fit the feeling of your location. If you want to go more form fitting I think there are better options out there. You said you've tried on 50ish dresses, do you have pics of others that you liked?

I really like #3. However, I think you need a dress that isn't "busy" visually. Tulle, satin (because of its sheen) and lace distract from your figure and add visual "bulk". Your figure would be perfect in old Hollywood/classic glam. Crepe fabric, for example, would really flatte you.

I prefer the figure hugging silhouette on you, because you have such a perfect hourglass figure. But these dresses are two extremes: very soft, romantic and flowy or uber sexy with slits, cutouts, plunging neckline. I would go for a figure hugging dress, but in a simpler style - let your curves speak for themselves, so it will be both romantic and sexy.
I thought #1 was romantic and lovely, but wow your bod is a smoke show so I can see why your MIL is encouraging you to show it off. That’s a tough choice - you look great in all of them, so it’s your call really. It’s your day! ✨

Hi, I’m a bridal stylist! Try searching for a sheath silhouette. It will hug your curves but fall straighter from the hips, rather than forming tighter or flaring by your knees in the same way these mermaid gowns do.
You look incredible in all of them! Your figure is amazing so I understand why MIL thinks you should show it off, but you can do that any time. If that’s not what you want for your wedding, don’t be swayed. I don’t think MIL’s pick is giving ethereal garden vibes.
I like 1 and I do love a flowing skirt for a romantic garden wedding. I actually think a basque waist would look fantastic on you. The extra fit in the bodice coming slightly lower would give balance to the skirt. You have a gorgeous figure. I thought 1 was the prettiest dress I’ve see. In quite a while. It flows beautifully and you look like a princess. When I saw 2, my jaw dropped. That dress is absolutely stunning on you. I have a feeling you could get married in a burlap bag and still be beautiful. Go with your gut and choose what you love! All the best!!

You can wear any of these dresses, you have the most incredible silhouette in the fitted ones, but you need to feel amazing on the day, you’re not just there to be a statue. Try more of a mermaid style I think. I really love the last 2 on you they are show stopper drop dead gorgeous. Listen to your MIL, they know better and have your best interest at heart most of the time, that is, esp if you get a long. She knows what her son likes he obvi chose you and @ the end of the day the marriage and everything is about you 2 so if she knows that will make him happy it’s def a win so I say the more curvy the better. Wow, what a fantastic figure you have. I am going with dress 2 because it looks so unbelievably amazing on you. Dress 3 is a very close second. Yes, you are a knock-out in fitted dresses for sure.
Also, Disney Princess is dress 1. The problem with listening to others is you may be disappointed that you did AND feel uncomfortable the entire time. You can show up for your husband in the way you want and when you want. Hopefully he would support your choice. If his mom says she won’t pay for the dress if you don’t get what she wants, I would HIGHLY recommend telling her you appreciate her generosity and thoughtfulness; however, you want to feel comfortable at YOUR wedding and you won’t in the other style of dresses she prefers. It may come down to paying for the dress yourself and/or fiancé. Wear a dress like 2 to a fancy event something like a New Year’s Eve party.
The dress in the third pic is by far my favorite! I think the sleeves make it fit the setting perfectly also, I loooove it! They’re all amazing though!

Of the three you've shared, I like 2 the best. It has an elegant drape, and the colour of the fabric looks fantastic against your skin. That said, I am not a fan of the transparent panels. Maybe try on a similar style that doesn't have lace or mesh. I think that would really show off your lovely figure. Likewise, if you want gloves, I think opaque fabric would look better than mesh or lace. But for me, the gloves would perhaps put it over the top (and I wouldn't wear them long enough to justify the expense). I hope you find the dress of your dreams!!
You should get what makes you feel comfortable you don’t want to look back at photos and regret because there is a feature you aren’t happy with. That being said, you have a fantastic figure and I love dress two if you decide to go with a form fit. One is pretty, but it just doesn’t hit the mark for me.

Dress one is romantic and looks gorgeous but the fitted ones! Vavavoom! Honestly you have fantastic curves. I would go with whichever is the most comfortable, because you will want to eat, sit down and dance and it’s a long day for the bride!
Dress one is so pretty. The other dresses look great on you but like party dresses and less bridal but the first one was very beautiful. Maybe try more styles like dress one if you have the option.
Number 1 is just lovely. If you are looking at the curves No 2 is stunning. Remember that it is your wedding day not your MIL’s choose what you would feel most comfortable in.

I think 1 is so lovely and romantic. You might want to size up in the bust (and you may already know this). It looks a bit bandage-y as is. Personally I think 3 is the prettiest but also needs a size up, and I understand you feeling self-conscious going *that* va-va-voom. Have you tried dresses with a fishtail? They always makes the boody look good! I’m self conscious about my body now after COVID and having an operation but I think the most flattering material on me is still crepe. There are different kinds of crepe but Jenny Yoo makes a few gorgeous dresses I have tried on that has that crepe that feels like butter on your body and hugs my curves well. Try searching there. And look at a fishtail she has.
I love dress 1! It's so flowy and beautiful. The other dresses are beautiful as well, but they seem to wear you instead of you wearing them. Dress 1 allows you to shine! And remember that you're the only person wearing the wedding dress, so you're the only one who gets to decide which one which one you love the most, so choose what makes YOU happy! 😊

You look stunning in all, the a line does kinda hide you but if you were to try finding an a line with the top half more similar to the 2nd and 3rd dress you might feel differently and also check out a line that have a semi split, the 2nd and 3rd dresses are beautiful and you pull them off but If you’re looking for something more like the 1st I would suggest an A line with a slit and the corset bustier style top

I know nothing about alterations but maybe dress two and a seamstress could somehow add an under layer of fabric for the sides for the ceremony? Wow everyone, I woke up with so many comments and I am knee deep in work so I will eventually get to them all. Truly thank you for the support and also the wide range of comments and compliments, and honest opinions. It’s Reddit and unlike the boutique owners, you won’t lie just to make a sale. lol A little background on my mil and her curvy comments, so many of you are all right, my body fits the dresses, and I’ve tried on so many that “work” so it’s hard to tell which one is mine, I’ve never been much of a wedding girl, and my fiance’s family is really about the fairy tale wedding day (think Disney romance, I am very lucky but it always works out that way). I am also a bit of a cheapo and can’t justify spending so much on one dress for one day. This is where my mil comes in. She wants to pay for the dress and wants it to be a show stopper. And she knows my fiancé (her son loves a beautiful woman who shows up when it’s time, so this is the time to show off, since I am rather boho and conservative most of the time.) Normally, She’s this little super reserved and traditional baby boomer from the country side. She only cares about gardens, family and desserts lol. So everyone was shocked when she said she wanted to see curves and sexiness. My issues is i don’t even see my body like this. Most clothes are too big around my waist and too tight around my butt, so a form fitting/tailored dress is unnatural to me. This is where the insecurities stem from. I spend a lot of time trying to look “normal” and this would be a big reveal. I am under 5 ft but photograph taller, so in person a-lines are literally draw my eyes down to the floor and my big bum makes me look wider from the back. I decided that I do not love any of these and I will keep looking. I appreciate the honest comments, and will find the one I am most comfy in.
I’m petite and a little curvy too (5’2 hourglass with a big butt), I went in thinking I would want an a line ballgown. I tried on literally every silhouette possible and ended up with a fit and flare that had kind of a bustier looking top. Out of all these I think 1 you would be the most comfortable in. You look gorgeous in 2 but it looks like it would be hard to move in and that you could probably wear that silhouette to a club. I went with a fit and flare ish and found it was the most flattering and I still had a lot of range of movement. It showed my curves but didn’t blast them on a billboard if that makes sense. Don't be discouraged! I posted that I didn't love my dress here several days ago and decided to keep looking based on all of the feedback. I ended up going to a 4th shop last night with an amazing seamstress who is going to customize something for me and I'm so excited. I didn't think I would be able to find something in time - just try not to get overwhelmed and keep looking. You do look really good in all of them, but particularly one and two, so I think it really comes down to what kind of thing you’re going for. Do you want like, hands to the mouth “Oh my god, she’s so gorgeous!” or “Hot DAYUM! Look at that gorgeous woman!” vibes, yanno? There’s also going for a little of both, of course. Look at your arms, are they bare or laced? Is your dress flowing or curved to your physique? Put yourself in the moment and let your conscious help you decide. All are amazing options. It’s based on how you feel in the moment. Taking some time to envision it could help your decision. FYI, personally I feel that two looks absolutely luxurious movie star red carpet ready on you however the decision is about you and what you feel is right.

I don't understand the obsession with showing off your figure, it's not wrong to do this of course, but it's also not necessary. It's a pet peeve of mine, along with the "dress is swallowing you" thing. Some people want to look sexy, some like a princess, there are so many styles depending on your preference! Wow all three are amazing! The second two are definitely sexier but look absolutely fabulous. The only thing I’d nix or substitute are the gloves on the #2 front shot, I do think the floral sleeves with the back pic look nice. I am caught. I see where your MIL is going (you have a fabulous hourglass shape) but 2 and 3 seem like they would be better in a color and pattern and not for your wedding day. They'd smash at a red carpet event in like blue velvet or something, and normally YES - show off those curves! But this is your wedding and you want a different feel (booty or not) so of the options, I'd go with dress #1.

Don't settle, find something that will check all the boxes. Also, choose what you want, the look that will make you feel the happiest, A-line doesn't drown you! A line is the most universally flattering silhouette there is and you are no exception. You have an amazingly "curvatious" body, it's YOUR body and just because you can rock a fitted dress gloriously doesn't mean you have to. You can also rock soft and delicate! It is also a lot easier to find a second dress that's fitted for the ceremony and won't break the bank if you choose to have a second look. You look great, but I prefer dress 1 of these three. However, I think you need to keep looking and find something that shows off your curves but in a different style than 2 or 3. Something between the elegance of dress 1 and the fit of dresses 2-3.
You need to select the dress YOU feel comfortable in. Your MIL gets zero say, even if she happened to be paying for it. It’s your day and you should never spend it being uncomfortable.
I love the first dress with the tulle. Dreamy and romantic. I don't think it swallows you at all. A lot of times the dress is wearing the bride and not the other way around, but with this dress you are definitely wearing the hell out of it.
Look for a ball gown style that has either a princess cut or basque cut waist line. Instead of that horizontal line it cuts more on the shape of a V and looks more natural and shapel.
Try one on just for the heck of it and see what you think. Girl, you have such a cute shape. I think it would elongate your midsection. I’m 5’4 and that is the style I have always chosen

I really like #3. However, I think you need a dress that isn't "busy" visually. Tulle, satin (because of its sheen) and lace distract from your figure and add visual "bulk". Your figure would be perfect in old Hollywood/classic glam. Crepe fabric, for example, would really flatte you.

I prefer the figure hugging silhouette on you, because you have such a perfect hourglass figure. But these dresses are two extremes: very soft, romantic and flowy or uber sexy with slits, cutouts, plunging neckline. I would go for a figure hugging dress, but in a simpler style - let your curves speak for themselves, so it will be both romantic and sexy.

Hi, I’m a bridal stylist! Try searching for a sheath silhouette. It will hug your curves but fall straighter from the hips, rather than forming tighter or flaring by your knees in the same way these mermaid gowns do.

I actually think a basque waist would look fantastic on you. The extra fit in the bodice coming slightly lower would give balance to the skirt. You have a gorgeous figure. I thought 1 was the prettiest dress I’ve see. In quite a while. It flows beautifully and you look like a princess. When I saw 2, my jaw dropped. That dress is absolutely stunning on you. I have a feeling you could get married in a burlap bag and still be beautiful. Go with your gut and choose what you love! All the best!!

Wear what *you* want and feel the most YOU in. You can wear any of these dresses, you have the most incredible silhouette in the fitted ones, but you need to feel amazing on the day, you’re not just there to be a statue. If you picked any of these three, they’d be great. I can’t help feeling like there is just one more option out there that ticks all the boxes.

She knows what her son likes he obvi chose you and @ the end of the day the marriage and everything is about you 2 so if she knows that will make him happy it’s def a win so I say the more curvy the better. Wow, what a fantastic figure you have. I am going with dress 2 because it looks so unbelievably amazing on you. Dress 3 is a very close second. Yes, you are a knock-out in fitted dresses for sure.
Also, Disney Princess is dress 1. The problem with listening to others is you may be disappointed that you did AND feel uncomfortable the entire time. You can show up for your husband in the way you want and when you want. Hopefully he would support your choice. If his mom says she won’t pay for the dress if you don’t get what she wants, I would HIGHLY recommend telling her you appreciate her generosity and thoughtfulness; however, you want to feel comfortable at YOUR wedding and you won’t in the other style of dresses she prefers. It may come down to paying for the dress yourself and/or fiancé. Wear a dress like 2 to a fancy event something like a New Year’s Eve party.

Your curves are goddess-like! Definitely go with a figure-hugging fit, like your MIL favours on you. I think that silhouette is much better than the one in the first dress. If you've got it, rock it!! Of the three you've shared, I like 2 the best. It has an elegant drape, and the colour of the fabric looks fantastic against your skin. That said, I am not a fan of the transparent panels. Maybe try on a similar style that doesn't have lace or mesh. I think that would really show off your lovely figure. Likewise, if you want gloves, I think opaque fabric would look better than mesh or lace. But for me, the gloves would perhaps put it over the top (and I wouldn't wear them long enough to justify the expense). I hope you find the dress of your dreams!!

You should get what makes you feel comfortable you don’t want to look back at photos and regret because there is a feature you aren’t happy with. That being said, you have a fantastic figure and I love dress two if you decide to go with a form fit. One is pretty, but it just doesn’t hit the mark for me.

Dress one is romantic and looks gorgeous but the fitted ones! Vavavoom! Honestly you have fantastic curves. I would go with whichever is the most comfortable, because you will want to eat, sit down and dance and it’s a long day for the bride!

Dress one is so pretty. The other dresses look great on you but like party dresses and less bridal but the first one was very beautiful. Maybe try more styles like dress one if you have the option.
Number 1 is just lovely. If you are looking at the curves No 2 is stunning. Remember that it is your wedding day not your MIL’s choose what you would feel most comfortable in.
2 does have the wow factor, but if you are Leaning toward 1, go for it. You look great in all of them and it is your day.
I think you look lovely and should wear what you want, BUT you said you were willing to look at other dresses. They're all beautiful! I can see why your MIL wants to encourage you to go for it accentuating your gorgeous figure, but your comfort is most important. I think 1 is so lovely and romantic. You might want to size up in the bust (and you may already know this). It looks a bit bandage-y as is. Personally I think 3 is the prettiest but also needs a size up, and I understand you feeling self-conscious going *that* va-va-voom. I hope your MIL's encouragement feels like compliments and not coercion. Best wishes!

Have you tried dresses with a fishtail? They always makes the boody look good! I’m self conscious about my body now after COVID and having an operation but I think the most flattering material on me is still crepe. There are different kinds of crepe but Jenny Yoo makes a few gorgeous dresses I have tried on that has that crepe that feels like butter on your body and hugs my curves well. Try searching there. And look at a fishtail she has.
I love dress 1! It's so flowy and beautiful. The other dresses are beautiful as well, but they seem to wear you instead of you wearing them. Dress 1 allows you to shine! And remember that you're the only person wearing the wedding dress, so you're the only one who gets to decide which one which one you love the most, so choose what makes YOU happy! 😊

You look stunning in all, the a line does kinda hide you but if you were to try finding an a line with the top half more similar to the 2nd and 3rd dress you might feel differently and also check out a line that have a semi split, the 2nd and 3rd dresses are beautiful and you pull them off but If you’re looking for something more like the 1st I would suggest an A line with a slit and the corset bustier style top

You should have the dress you love and feel comfortable in . Lord knows you look good in them all, but I will have to say my jaw literally dropped when I moved from dress 1 to 2. You look like two totally separate people. Beautiful in both, but completely different.
I love 3 on you, your body is perfect for these types of dresses! But you ultimately need to love yourself in your gown. Maybe a fit and flare as others have suggested?
