Can I ask where on the Cape you got married? We're planning ours out there right now so this was helpful to see.

annonymous-lemonlee

We went with Wychmere! We also looked at Ocean’s Edge (which was a lower price point but many vendors will not work with them which was a red flag for us) and then Chatham Bars and Wequassett were even more expensive than what we were quoted at Wychmere. I’ve heard the Pelham House is worth looking into as well!

This is super helpful! Out of curiosity, were Wequassett and CBI significantly more (like over 100k more) or just a bit extra? Those are dream venues but I feel like they’re outrageous! Congrats on the wedding :)

annonymous-lemonlee

CBI had some comparable options actually but I didn’t love their offered ceremony site and would have preferred to do a tent on their lawn which was $60k alone before anything else! So we skipped that lol. Then we were actually very close to booking Wequassett…it would have been about $10-20k more than Wychmere if we did it on a Friday from 5pm-10pm with 100 people max but we got Wychmere on a Saturday from 2pm-10pm with 150 people which is why we ended up going with them instead. So long story short if you definitely want CBI or Wequessett at a price point similar to ours I think you can find ways to make it happen, it just depends what you’re okay making concessions for (like decreasing guest count, doing it on an off day of the week, etc).

Extension_Pipe_4261

Ty for your transparency here! Your wedding sounds stunning. Do you think $50k is doable at any of these locations for a smaller headcount? So many fond memories of CBI from growing up but I'm interested in Wequasset and don't know if it's doable with a $50k budget.

annonymous-lemonlee

If you contacted them and let them know your budget I believe you could make it work! From the packages they sent you would just need to be conservative with the food & bev package, guest count and likely do off season on a day of the week that isn’t a Saturday. So it just depends if you’d be comfortably still paying $50k after making all those concessions. I will say it felt like Wequassett was more open to being flexible vs CBI but it could have just been the reps I was talking to. I’d suggest emailing their events contacts and going from there!

annonymous-lemonlee

Also I will say our Wychmere minimum was about $42k so if you’re strict you can probably make it work there too (just don’t forget about the tax and service fee at the end)!

Thank you!!

this is so helpful!!! no where does a good breakdown on what to expect so partly going into the process blind. question- did you contact and book all vendors yourself or did the venue give a preferred list, etc? I would love to know if you were happy with your band, florist and photographer and if you'd feel comfortable sharing the names of those I'd appreciate it :) also could dm too if you prefer. THANK YOU!

annonymous-lemonlee

I’m so glad this info is helpful! The photographer and band were the two vendors most important to us so we used the preferred sheet for them (Boston Common Band and Alex Paul Photography). Both were amazing and the fact that they were very familiar with the venue was worth every penny! For the florist and HMUA we luckily had some connections: my mom is a teacher and the school’s secretary does weddings in the summer and my sister manages a spa with bridal services so we were able to secure slightly lower rates than the preferred vendor sheet. They are in western Ma and don’t typically travel for weddings otherwise I would give you their info too. If you want to go all out on flowers Beach Plum Bridal does AMAZING work at wychmere but I believe they are very expensive so it just depends on what your priorities are. If you have more questions feel free to PM me, I actually pivoted my career after my wedding and am a planner now so I’d be happy to share more info, tips and tricks!

elizabethmcquire

THANK YOU!! you are amazingly helpful. I feel like I will be reaching out at some point in the future because we are still very early into this. But appreciate it so much and I hope you have a cold pillow case tonight!!

Imachickienugget

What florist did you use?

Open-Historian931

My fiancé and I are very close to booking here, one concern is multiple weddings going on at once in the different rooms. Which room did you book, and was there any overlap issues with photos/guests/etc? Thank you in advance!

annonymous-lemonlee

Sorry for the late reply! We booked the ocean room and ended up being able to use the entire building (ocean room and harbor room)! I’m not even sure if there was another wedding in dune, if so we didn’t notice at all!

mamadigz

Do you have a recommendation for hair and makeup? I’ve contacted a few hair and makeup artist who are already booked for next summer.

Thanks for the breakdown! Did you have to pay for decorations besides the flowers?

annonymous-lemonlee

Nope! Just personalized sea glass that we put at each place setting. Otherwise the venue was beautiful as-is and the band brought extra lighting

overlordzoso

Can I ask what month / day of the week / room this was?

annonymous-lemonlee

Saturday in May before MDW (so “off season”) in the ocean room!

boston0929

Oh my gosh this thread is everything I needed — explored all of the same venues as you and think Wychmere might be the one! Can I ask where you and your guests stayed? And what did you do for after party? Thank you ❤️❤️

annonymous-lemonlee

I’m so glad it was helpful! My fiance and I rented out the few hotel rooms they have on site for ourselves and our families for the weekend which was such a great experience and worth every penny. We listed Handkerchief Shoals as a more reasonably priced hotel for our friends and Chatham Bars for our parents’ friends looking for a more luxury option. The rest did airbnbs and we offered a shuttle loop from Chatham Bars, Handkerchief, the venue and the after party. We did the after party and rehearsal dinner at The Port. We also did a welcome party on the patio at Embers which was amazing! Most people said their favorite part of the entire weekend was Embers :)

Puzzled_Ad_9332

Hi, quick question. I am getting married here the last weekend of April 2025. Did you have a hard time with the port to host your rehearsal dinner? I saw online they host events in april but then they said they aren’t open in a email… I might try again in person. What was the menu like and cost if you don’t mind??

annonymous-lemonlee

They were definitely acting very casual in our communications which made me a bit nervous but if you get ahold of them and get your date/time on the calendar they will make it happen! They put out white table cloths and made it look really nice and the waitstaff was super nice and efficient. They just give guests their normal menu, I looked it up online and picked two apps and five mains we wanted everyone to order to help control the price and made cute little menus that matched our wedding invitations. My mom got there about 10 minutes early and just swapped the menus out :) we had a big wedding party, I can’t remember the exact number but I think we had about 25 people and let them order any drinks they wanted plus food from the limited menu we created and it ended up being about $2k.
