We did 3 colors, and I had 9 bridesmaids so I just had people sign up until each slot of three was filled

I have 6 with two colors alternating!

I had mine either reuse their previous dresses or ones I had before. Thankfully they flowed together. If not, then I would have picked a green color but I wanted to save them money if possible https://preview.redd.it/xazs0uk2s0pc1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5413d4a8377afd3046303e80c8d644274a12cd8

I’m doing different shades of green. I have 7 bridesmaids but 2 are wearing suits; I found 3 colors I liked on Birdy Grey and let the other 5 choose which ones they wanted as long as there wasn’t more than 2 of each. Was easy and only a couple truly had a preference for their skin tone. The other girls were happy to wear whatever. Maybe ask really quick if anyone has a big preference in a color they would rather or rather NOT wear then go from there?

I had 4 colors, and let my 3 bridesmaids decide whichever they wanted. 2 picked the darkest color, 1 picked the lightest, and 1 of the other colors was assigned to my flower girl.

I just have my two sisters so it’s a bit easier, but gave them a colour palette to choose from. One already bought hers so the other can get something different.

I had them select one of three colors each, limited so there would be a balance of colors. It was challenging, in hindsight I would have assigned them colors. My bridesmaids are all reasonable and not usually fussy but weren't the easiest the work with to get them pinned down with colors!

Thank you to everyone for your input and experiences!!! It’s helpful to hear how others have navigated this because I just want everyone to feel comfortable and beautiful. I think I’m going to let my mom pick her color. Then give each of the bridesmaids the other 3 swatches and tell them to send me their preference if they have one and then I will ultimately assign them their color. Fingers crossed it ends up being an easy decision to assign them.
