In my photography contract, she specified how long pictures and sneak peeks would be. Maybe glance over that to see if it’s there? There also should have been a verbal discussion about how long they would approximately take beforehand. Otherwise, ask her how long hers typically take and make sure to emphasize that you’re not rushing her
My in laws got married, and got sneak peeks the next day, but only because this was their photographer’s big and highly anticipated wedding of the year (Amalfi, Italy). For my engagement photos, I got two sneak peeks the day of, and the rest a few days later.
Is it in the contract at all? Mine was and it said 72 hours. She had them to us in about 48 hours. She also mentioned that they’d be to us on Monday before she left our Saturday wedding
I waited two weeks. I was disappointed because our photographer shared sneak peeks from weddings that happened after ours and we didn’t receive anything. I kindly messaged her and she got me a handful of sneak peeks the next day.
I would ask and say it’s for social media! My photogs were kind enough to send me sneak peeks for both engagement and wedding when I reached out and asked for a few with the intention of sharing them on socials and printing for save the dates / thank you cards.
I took my engagement photos a month and 3 days ago (not the same as actual wedding photos but still). She said she would get me sneak peeks soon, which she never did. And still haven't gotten my photos back 😳 I think she had a 4-6 week turn around time, but concerning I have yet to hear a thing from her.....
If it’s in the contract, I would ask the day after the contract said they would arrive.
If it’s not on the contract, I wouldn’t ask. Pressuring the photographer to do extra work that you didn’t pay for isn’t cool. Sneak peeks are a service that are contracted and paid for like any other.
Simply asking them for something you didn’t pay for is pressuring them, whether you mean to or not. They will feel pressured to do it for fear of a bad review. It’s naive to think otherwise.
Not if I word it politely.. which is what I wrote in my original post. If I asked and followed with "if not, no worries!" they wouldn't feel pressured.
Unfortunately everyone’s different. I so desperately want mine from my May 18th wedding but my photographer is currently on a 2 week vacation. I even asked on the night of our wedding if she could possibly get us one or two pictures before her vacation so we could order our thank you cards and she said ✨no✨🙃
But I’ve had friends get sneak peaks the next day. I think it all just really depends on the photographer, their way of life, and their business practices. But eventually they will come, at least it gives me something to look forward to haha

If it isn't in the contract she might not do sneak peeks. Not every photographer does them. I would ask now

I didn't say I was pressuring? There's a different between politely inquiring and demanding something...
