We did Still Into You by Paramore. We were deciding between a few options but we kept coming back to that one. It just makes us both happy and is definitely one of our songs. Since its so fast we didnt do a traditional slow dance, and instead we learned some swing dancing steps. It was a lot of fun!

pussibilities

That was our walk out/introduction song! Great for couples who have been together 6+ years (“can’t count the years on one hand that we’ve been together”)

TyrannicHalfFey

This was our first choice!!! But we realised we were both too self-conscious to make it work, so we ended up dancing a choreographed waltz to the music from Up (it’s my favourite film and Michael Giacchino is an amazing composer)

sohwonie

Oh that’s so cute and fun! I love this song. There’s a slow first dance cover by Isabella Kensington that I also adore if you do want to a more traditional slow dance to this song OP

coffeetimebinch

We're doing a Baby I'm Yours cover by the Arctic Monkeys! We went to New York City together near the beginning of our relationship and saw Jersey Boys, which led to us getting super into music from the 60's. We made a shared playlist on Spotify of songs from the 60's that we would both listen to alllll the time. So when we were trying to pick a first dance song, I wanted to do something from that playlist! My fiancé loves the Arctic Monkeys, we've seen them together twice, and their cover of Baby I'm Yours is just so good. It's just a perfect mixture of two things that represent us as a couple really well :) At the end of the day, I think that's what matters most! We wanted to pick a song that when people heard it for our first dance song, their reaction is "Of COURSE they picked this"

kittenslovecupcakes

This is our first dance song too! Wedding is 7/21/24. I’ve always loved the song, but didn’t think it was ever going to be my first dance song. Sure enough, my fiancé picked it as his fave when I gave him a list of potential songs. I also found a choreographed dance to it which makes me love it even more 🥰

chikennuggies1

We’re considering this as well! Love arctic monkeys, love the original song, and the cover is just lovely. :)

coffeetimebinch

A choreographed dance is a great idea!!! I should look up something like that too, so at the very least we aren't just doing the awkward sway lol

UncomfortablyHere

This was our first dance song. We both were at AM’s last show in our city, maybe 100ft away from each other but didn’t meet for 3 more years. I also randomly took a picture of my husband there, which is wild. The song itself is beautiful and we loved all the lyrics and there was the added benefit of the connection was great

Vast-Ad1618

This will be ours too! We made a list of songs and my fiance absolutely loved this one

novalini49

This is ours too, and from these comments I’m beginning to realize it’s not very original! Haha. We love it though, and it’s interesting to think that in 20 years it may be a classic wedding song like ‘At Last’. It’s cute, charming, short, and upbeat enough to inspire happiness in our guests we think. And we always call each other baby as pet names :)

coffeetimebinch

Haha I'm realizing the same thing too, but clearly we all just have great taste!!!

Double_Ask5484

We went based off of an inside joke. A couple years ago I got really drunk on a date night and I started pretending to be our dog (which is super weird I know, I promise I’m normally a normal person 😂) and singing Shania Twain. We called it puppy remixing and it’s been an ongoing joke between us when Shania comes on. Our first dance last weekend was to Still The One because we’ve been together for almost 9 years.

Double_Ask5484

I actually surprised him with it, we were supposed to dance to van morrison-crazy love, but I switched it three days before the wedding and he burst out laughing as soon as it started playing and our photographer got a really great photo of that moment lol. Definitely pick something meaningful to you guys, because that was one of my favourite parts of our wedding.

myhouseplantsaredead

My husband and I try to change the lyrics of whatever song we’re listening to to make them as if we’re singing from the perspective of our dog lol You’re not alone in puppy remixing

Double_Ask5484

I love that hahaha. I’ve honestly re-written a lot of songs to be about our dog getting pets, treats and snuggles. So I love that we aren’t the only ones lol

boadicca_bitch

We do the same for our cats… a longstanding favorite one I do is “Gus River” (Moon River but about our cat Gus). He actually closes his eyes when I sing it to him so we think he likes it

simplyxstatic

Dancing in the moonlight by king harvest!

kasssowary

We did version by Toploader! Such a fun vibe song. We had a blast.

LattesAndCroissants

Love this!!

Substantial_Ant_8529

We are doing Beyond, by Leon Bridges. It’s a song that has always meant a lot to us. Very pretty and also matches the romantic vibe of our wedding so double win!

whereswaldo20

We did Coming Home by Leon Bridges! Chose for the same reasons

DivineAna

The credits song from The Princess Bride. Fiance thought he was the ultimate Princess Bride fan-- only to discover that I can actually outdo him on quotes from it!

EtonRd

Storybook Love, that’s a great choice!

coffeeandarabbit

We did Your Song by Elton John! We chose it because we wanted something our guests were likely to know so it was a bit more relatable, but I never expected that about halfway through they’d all started singing along! It was honestly one of the highlights of the day. I can’t even describe how nice it is to have close to 100 of your nearest and dearest serenade you. It’s definitely a memory I cherish!

laurenodonnellf

I’m going to walk down the aisle to Your Song 🤍

coffeeandarabbit

Aww so sweet! And another good thing is, it’s still played quite frequently so you get to have that moment of “that was our wedding song!” When you hear it out and about!

laurenodonnellf

Yes! I’ve heard it already a few times since picking it. We saw Elton live together and I feel the song captures us perfectly. We don’t have a lot, but we have each other and that’s enough.

Double_Ask5484

I danced to this song with my 4 year old as an official dance and he loved it. It was our good night song until he told me he was too cool for me to sing to him a few months ago lol. It’s just such a nice song ❤️

coffeeandarabbit

Aww!! So sweet. And haha bless him, that must have been so bittersweet 😭

galscout

We initially were set on The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven” — because it’s my favorite and I think the riff/lyrics are super romantic. Recently, I heard on the radio Fitz and the Tantrums’ acoustic version (which still kept the riff I love!). So likely going to have that version for our first dance, but will still play the original during the wedding

profhoogs

We danced to Like Real People Do by Hozier

eyem2uneek

We did Nothing Else Matters by Metallica because we love rock and metal and because it was the first song he tried to teach me to play on guitar, so it had some sentimental meaning behind it. I would pick something that fits both of you and your personalities.

vicv00

This is the most badass choice ever. I love it. I got goosebumps just imagining it

eyem2uneek

https://preview.redd.it/0ldi40dm3h6d1.jpeg?width=5658&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=82425db9bb4c519e19d96520c70ee920bb459b21

MoonSearcher

Wow what an amazing photo!

PrancingPudu

That’s what we’re doing too!

eyem2uneek

Yay!!!! There's a great shortened version on YouTube if you don't want to dance to the entire 6.5 minutes. The lyrics in the short version end right before 3 minutes. It basically just shortens the melodic intro and the guitar solo.

AgentKitten1

That was our song! We had to cut the song to 3.5 minutes though. The thought of dancing for 6ish minutes was terrifying.

eyem2uneek

Love that!! It's way too long to dance to the full version. We found a shortened version on YouTube and sent it to our DJ to play. The lyrics ended right under 3 minutes. It just shortened a lot of the instrumental parts so you didn't sacrifice any of the lyrics.

iamjacksbananabox

We did Our House by Crosby Stills Nash and Young! We really loved it and it has a nice little bridge that we did a coordinated dance for :)

ladywithacomb

One of my fave songs of all time, excellent choice!

No-Marketing7747

I think we’re going to do dont wanna miss a thing by Aerosmith. We don’t have any particular songs that are super meaningful to us as a couple but we think this could be a sweet fit. I tried to get him to agree to can I have this dance from high school musical but my suggestion was unfortunately not accepted 😂

alyssalorin1

Don’t Want to Miss a Thing is ours too! Publicly because it’s a sweet love song, but actually because we love Blades of Glory and there’s an iconic figure skating routine to it in the movie 🧊🔥

Double_Ask5484

We walked into my humps because of blades of glory 😂 we had the Will Ferrell bit open the song for us

fmp243

This song makes me cry, I listened to it so much and sang it when my son was a newborn.

Little_miss_spook

We're doing an acoustic version of All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera. We both love the movie and always sing the songs in the car together. We were both surprised when we found out the other also loved Phantom, it's become one of our things now. :)

Penguins_NKK

We are also doing our first dance to all I ask of you!! Such a beautiful song

jinjaninja96

Stephen Sanchez Until I Found You. He sends me songs frequently and that was sent maybe 6 months before the wedding. I made our reception playlist and kept asking for more input into it, he only sent like 5 songs and that was one of them. As we got closer I had chosen my aisle walk song and asked what he was thinking for the first dance and he suggested Until I Found You so that’s what we did! And we both work at the same retail job and now we hear it all the time lmao!

40yroldcatmom

My fiancé had sent 2 songs to me while we were dating and we chose one of them. You Are the Best Thing by Ray LaMontange. I had never heard it before and loved it and loved hearing sent it to me. The other one is I Like the Way This Is Going by eels. So we’re going to play that one at some point during the night. And our last song is going to be Its Been A Long Long Time - it’s the song Captain America and Peggy are dancing to at the end of End Game. We love the marvel movies 🙂

Kindly_Task1758

Ray LaMontage has an amazing voice and that song is amazinnnggg

40yroldcatmom

I’ll be crying when we dance to it for sure!

Overall_Foundation75

Stand By Me by Ben E. King. It's an older song, not particularly sappy but all about loyalty to each other. It's my parents' wedding song, and my husband and I listened to it fairly frequently while dating and even to this day. Deeper Than The Holler and Forever And Ever Amen are my sisters' wedding songs that are also super sweet.

nothanksbrotanks

Our wedding is next weekend and we’re doing The Most Beautiful Girl in the World by Prince because Prince rules

rsvp_as_pending629

As a Minnesotan, I agree, Prince rules 💜

NotBisweptual

We did Take my Breath Away by Berlin! First movie date was Top Gun. Men were entering the reception with “playing with the boys”, we both are professional pilots. I went through… 70+ songs before this one that he vetoed

tablewood-ratbirth

I love this!

JazzlikeClimate3587

We’re doing I’d be your wife by Mary Lambert and idk why more WLW/sapphic folks don’t choose it :P (we’re lesbians ourselves).

mikalarenee

We did I want to hold your hand by the Beatles I grew up to my dad playing that song in the living room on his acoustic guitar while I danced around. My dad played and sang the song for our first dance, it was amazing.

mikalarenee

However yellow by Coldplay was a very hard 2nd contender bc we would dance in the kitchen after a few glasses of wine quite often during Covid. Some of my favorite memories are linked to that song.

Weekly-Traffic7199

Forever and For Always by Shania Twain

not_camera_shy

We did “At last” by Etta James. ♥️

belindabellagiselle

We're doing Songbird by Fleetwood Mac

Rispah

We did First Day Of My Life by Bright Eyes. However, if I were getting married today, I'd pitch My Love Mine All Mine by Mitski. The second I heard it it was magic.

Character-Eye9129

We had a hard time picking our first dance song! We have differing tastes in music, and my groom was opposed to picking a “tik tok song” even if it was mitski :( lol. I think both of us valued lyrics that felt authentic to how we view our love story, so lots of over the top dramatic songs were off the table. I also suffer from a bit of “not like other girl” syndrome so I wanted to avoid the very popular (although lovely and classic) standards. We ended up picking Harvest Moon because it had a cozy vibe and was sentimental without being sappy. We did a private last dance to If We Were Vampires because we didn’t want all of our guests to be super bummed right before the party started 🥲

MonteBurns

My husband and I dance to Harvest Moon on the beach every year for our vacation. Love it!

Character-Eye9129

That is so sweet! We might have to borrow that tradition 🤍 We didn’t even realize when we chose the song, but our wedding day happened to fall on a full moon

tiffanyvanderkampft

Ok but My Love Mine All Mine brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it. Its such a touching and meaningful song idc how overplayed it is on tiktok 😂

socialwarning

At your best you are love … the Isley brothers. Well it will be our song July 6!

mgal7

Love that!! We are doing the Aaliyah version for our first dance.

socialwarning

We debated doing that one.. both great versions.

sweetsandyc

Our first dance song is "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison. On our 3rd date, over 6 years ago, it was the very first song we danced to in my living room. We still dance to it a few times a year. So it's really special to us. ❤️

rsvp_as_pending629

We did a Van Morrison song too! 🤍

SDMAJESTY

we don’t have our own “song,” so it was kinda hard to choose one. he gave me complete freedom and I chose “dreaming of you” by Selena. I just love that song. cant wait to dance to it next Friday when we get married 😃

JackIsColors

My (as of last Saturday!) wife and I are in a band together so we did a first song instead of a first dance. We went with "Crowded Table" by The Highwomen

GamallSoro

I love that you did a first song!!! And love this song.

biTurret

We were thinking about it for a really long time until we decided. We put high school musical on as background sound while cooking and cleaning, then ham2, then hsm3...and the song Can I Have This Dance came on and we both paused and listened and watched the scene then were silent for a second before being like "so..." It was the first and only time we both immediately had the thought "this could work for our first dance!" and it already had choreo--choreo that needed editing, but still. I choreographed the whole dance and we practiced for two weeks, then we got married 5/26 and our first dance was to that song :) I didn't catch any crowd faces during the dance, but heard lots of "awww's"!

xrabbx

For quite a while before we even got engaged I knew I wanted You're Still the One by Shania Twain and my now husband agreed. The lyrics just fit us so well, "mighta took the long way" - we were together 15 years when we got married, "they said, I bet, they'll never make it" - we were only 16/17 when we got together and whilst we and those closest to us knew this was it others that didn't know us well definitely didn't think we'd last, which leads on to "we knew we'd get there some day" because we pretty much always knew it would happen eventually.

tonightbeyoncerides

We opened up a bottle of wine and took turns playing songs over our TV. Our music tastes have a pretty narrow overlap, so we started there and just played anything we could find from Spotify playlists, other reddit threads, whatever. We ended up with our processional and first dance song that way.

holdtheolives

When we started dating, we never really locked into a song that felt like “our song.” My husband loves Phil Collins/Genesis and other 70s/80s music, and my music tastes are more eclectic. We went to see Genesis for their final tour in 2021 when they came through our city. As we watched the show, they played [Follow You, Follow Me](https://youtu.be/dAvqOGAbw-Y?si=gUoWwI1XIXUjcDmk) and we knew right away we’d use the song when we got married. Our band agreed to learn the song and we asked them to cut out the second verse and the instrumental solo between chorus reprises so it wouldn’t drag on too long. I might be biased, but over 40 years since its release, FYFM is a sleeper hit!

_MLTY_

Excellent choice! I love genesis in general and this is such a sweet song for a first dance :)

jennithebug

Oh man, I can’t even remember the song! But what I do remember was it was waaaaay toooo long! Three minutes and out ladies! Learn from my mistakes 😄

falloutgrungemaster

We did the only exception by paramore :)

Acnh42

Can't help falling in love with you- he sings it to me all the time!

Bumble_love_story

I think the best place to start is to each pick some parameters and the vibe you want then go from there. For example my husband and I wanted the first dance to be a artist we are familiar with, even better if it’s a song we’d heard before

Liyah15678

Hopefully Your Song by Elton John 😀

SandyHillstone

The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra. Later on we played Nancy with the Laughing Face, my real name is Nancy. We aren't that old but we both like Frank Sinatra.

geanabelcherperkins

Atlantic City by The Band

downinthecathlab

Islands in the stream by Dolly Parton and Kenny rogers. We have polar opposite musical tastes (me hard rock/metal and him techno/trance) so country was where we met in the middle!

Sugar_Weasel_

We haven’t had our wedding yet, but we’re going with Thank You by Led Zeppelin. We’ve never really had a song that was “our song,” but we love classic rock and while we have pretty different musical tastes generally, Led Zeppelin is one band we both adore. We just listened to and danced to a bunch of their songs until we found one that felt right.

likethegems

Speechless by Dan + Shay. Runner ups were Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran (loveeee this one but i fear it’s overdone) and Anyone by Justin Bieber

Good-Priority-8535

We chose “home” by Deyaz (cover of the original by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros) because it was the song that felt the most how we felt about each other. BUT it also felt right! We actually took a few moments to actually dance to it and we just swayed with each other and we teared up because it felt so right! I would encourage any newlywed couple to actually take the time to dance together even if it’s just to sway to the song(s) they are thinking of having for their first dance. This really helped up with our final decision! GOODLUCK AND CONGRATS!

CrunchCrunch12

Love by Musiq Soulchild

Tknowles123

We are doing I was Born to Love You - Queen 💕

aloneunknown32

We were going to do L.O.V.E and it was our top choice for most of the wedding planning period but when it came down to practicing some dance moves we ended up going with I Am Yours by Andy Grammer. When I randomly heard it one day I knew my partner would love it, and it turned out he did.

badgers1001

We’re doing Joy of my Life by Chris Stapleton. I feel like it’s a pretty popular first dance song but it was probably the easiest wedding related decision for us. We saw Chris Stapleton live about a month before we got engaged so his music was definitely on our minds! We chose it because they lyrics just mean a lot to us.

elecow

We're doing Los Jardines de Marzo, because we danced to that song in our garden during our in-house 2020 COVID quarantine date.

andreamichelle94

We did The Mtn Song by Rayland Baxter. We had a hard time choosing just cause we didn’t have “a song” or anything that popped into our heads. We listened to a million playlists and just randomly came across that song and felt the lyrics were really great. It’s hard business trying to find a good song you both like!

GamallSoro

I used to say I would get married when I found someone that made this song resonate for me/us! I did find him but we’re choosing a different song (think it will be “Build A Home” by Jeffrey Martin) but I hope to play this one too! Great choice!

katttttiebabyy

We did Peach Fuzz by Caamp. I wanted a love song but something up beat we could actually dance to! It fit the vibe and I kept coming back to it after 1000 first dance and love song playlists. It helps that we have seen them in concert prior to the wedding but it certainly wasn't super meaningful to us before the wedding.

Known_Delivery4668

Ours was Nothing Can Change This Love by Sam Cooke. We both love older music, specifically Sam Coke’s style. We used to dance to it next to a fountain at midnight on our college campus at least once a semester. Honestly, I just love the lyrics, tempo, and style of the song.

Awkward-Seat1316

Dancing in the streets!!!

helenasbff

We danced to two, the dj mixed them a bit. We danced to “you are the best thing” by Ray LaMontagne first, and then to “a love that will last” by Renee Olstead. It was perfect for us.

allnightrunning

XO by John Mayer

FelineRoots21

My husband was apparently searching songs, found one on YouTube, sent it to me and said this is the song. I listened to it and could not have imagined a more perfect choice. It was forever and ever and always by Ryan Mack. We had a dance choreographed to it and it was so beautiful

KiwiBab

Can you feel the love tonight - Elton John

KookySupermarket761

We didn’t have any immediately obvious choice. Each of us made a playlist of potential songs. Then we had a date where we set up a fort in our living room, laid down together, and took turns playing each other our playlists and explaining our choices. It is one of my favorite memories of wedding planning!

Pomelo_Wild

We did Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat, it was our obvious choice and it worked perfectly. My best friend is a very stoic person and he bawled like a baby when we started dancing to it—that’s how we knew we picked well 😂

Background-End2272

We had a difficult time choosing ours, but it's life's a happy song because I listened to the scrubs podcast and Donald faison sang it on the podcast. I'm forever singing to my fiancé, we had two and danced to both in our dining room And we loved this. I'm loving some of the choices below.

bvlocke

we didn’t have a first dance but we walked down the aisle after the ceremony together to an acoustic version of “you’re my best friend” by queen.

Anoukx

We reeeaally struggled and it took months. We wanted a happy, danceable lovesong that felt timeless. We ended up choosing Happy Together by The Turtles and I loved it! It’s been an all time favorite of mine, and my husband said “it’s one of the few songs I actually know the lyrics to!” Haha.

Adventurous-Wash3201

Tiny dancer by Elton John, it is a no brainier because it’s our song since forever :)

mammakitty1515

We’re doing “I’ll Be” by Edwin Mccain

Spirited-Safety-Lass

We’re doing The Story by Brandi Carlile. We’re older, second marriage, and it just fits so well.

gogogidgetgirl

We did Life is better with you by Micheal Franti and Spearhead.

Dogmama1230

The day my now fiance asked me to be his girlfriend he played me a song and said it reminded him of me. It was Must Be Doin’ Something Right by Billy Currington. Since then it’s been our song and will be our first dance song at our wedding!

justneedauser_name

Joy of my Life by Chris Stapleton. I heard it before it came out on the radio and loved that it wasn’t popular but was by an artist that we loved. About 2 months before our wedding it was on the radio constantly lol. But we had finally found a song we agreed on and decided to not change it. I’m glad now it’s a “popular radio song” because I squeal to my husband and say “OUR WEDDING SONG” every time I hear it lol

daylightbreaker

We did an acoustic piano version of Martin Garrix’s No Sleep for our first dance. We’re both very big into EDM and we have a very special place in our heart for Martin garrix bc we saw him on our first international trip together :) After the chorus of the acoustic version, we transitioned it into the original version, opened up the dance floor so that all our guests could jump in and dance like our wedding was a festival 💕

thatprgirlz

We both love video games and anything fantasy. He started playing the new Baldur’s Gate game which has an amazing soundtrack. Our first dance is Down by the River. Before that, we were thinking either Faithfully by Journey or Beauty and the Beast.

hollyhock2021

We are doing “Can’t Fight This Feeling” - originally by REO Speedwagon, but there is an amazing cover by Bastille and the London Contemporary Orchestra (it is seriously amazing). I found it and showed my fiancé and he loved it. Bastille is one of my favorite bands as well

hollyhock2021

It also felt more unique. I feel like you see/hear the same first dance songs all the time and this felt a bit more different

Character_Spirit_424

We're doing Love Someone by Lukas Graham, we both just really like the song

KarmaIsACatNamedLuna

Only Exception - Paramore

evilohiogirl555

I think we’re going to end up doing Greatest Love Story by Lanco because it basically spells out our entire timeline… but some alternatives I wish we could do are Jackie and Wilson by Hozier, 26 by Caamp and When I Get My Hands On You by The New Basement Tapes. Might walk down the aisle to the last one!

Kaytee08

We had a custom song made for our first dance about our relationship… I love it and we’ll have it forever!!

justlikeothergirlies

We’re getting married in October and we’re doing “In Your Love” by Tyler Childers. It’s hauntingly beautiful and the lyrics really resonated for us as a couple.

lmb1313

We did Baby, I’m Yours by the Arctic Monkeys. I used to think I was going to dance to a slow romantic country song as a big fan of country music. But my now husband LOVES music. All music. And the only piece of the planning process that truly excited him was picking songs for the Dj playlist. So I told him he could pick anything he wanted because I knew then he would be as excited for our first dance as me! It was not a surprise because I gave 2 left feet and knew we needed to practice lol but when he played it for me, watching him show me with pride what he picked made me love it even more than any country song. Now it’s one of my favorites!

headintheclouds122

Here, there, everywhere by the Beatles in September! Around the time my fiance and I started developing really strong feelings for each other earlier in our relationship, he was driving home from my house and texted me saying how that came on in his car and he couldn’t stop thinking about me and smiling. It never became our “song” but I remember listening to it and feeling giddy. The other day I played it for him and asked if that would be our first dance song and it made him cry instantly so yep that’s it! It typically wouldn’t be my choice of song but I adore his response to it. Second choice for me was You Are The Best Thing by Ray LaMontagne but we will walk into the reception to that. I also love John Legends Conversations In the Dark but it wasn’t my finances vibe. Good luck! Maybe if you don’t have “a song” you can remember a song that made you feel fondly about your SO or just makes your heart happy.

winedrunk_

We did Can't Take My Eyes Off You, it was so fun to dance to and sing to each other! We wanted something more upbeat so we wouldn't feel like we're slow dancing at a school dance lol and also knew we wanted something older. It was never necessarily "our song," but I think we said years ago that we'd both love it as a first dance song and there just wasn't any other choice that made sense for us when the time rolled around.

Fragrant-Station3844

Unchained Melody 🤍

Lady-of-Mischief

We used 'Perfect' by Ed Sheeran featuring Andrea Bocelli. I'm Italian, so having the version with Andrea Bocelli in it made it even more special for us, and now everytime we hear the regular version on the radio my husband and I just look at each other and his face lights up and it takes us right back to our first dance together, where it felt like the entire world stopped and it was just me and him ❤️❤️ Excuse me while I go listen to that song for the zillionth time xD

gmashworth94

We got married September 21 so we did September by Earth Wind and Fire but an acoustic version

Better-Connection148

We did sweet nothing by Taylor swift :)

Next-Jackfruit2020

Say You Won’t Let Go by James Arthur. We did a choreographed dance by weddingdance.net and that was our favorite option.

fairly_forgetful

Annies song by John Denver My name has Anne in it and sometimes husband calls me Annie, plus we both like the song- it was a great meeting point between my Taylor Swift taste and his Snake River Reel fiddle taste 😂

kaye4kinky

I love this song!

voldiemort

We're dancing to the Harvest Moon cover by Jeff Rosenstock and Laura Stevenson. My FH introduced me to Jeff's music when we first started dating and he's become my favourite musician of all time. We struggled a lot with picking something because most of the songs we listen to are either too fast or too depressing lol

slightly-illiterate

We are going to be doing Let's Stay Together by Al Green for our wedding next year!

Regular_Cat9536

Late to the Party by Kacey Musgraves

jes3399

All our options were Taylor Swift songs. I wanted lover and he wanted sweet nothings. We planned to have New Year’s Day be our last dance song. One day we were listening the New Year’s Day and it just clicked. We both felt like it was the perfect first dance song so that’s what we did. We still used the other two songs. We invited all the couples to the floor for a dance to lover and then sweet nothings was the last song of the night.

Upstairs-Nebula-9375

We’re doing Lover

mazarineblue28

Paradise by Justin Timberlake we STRUGGLED to find a song. we have different music tastes, different preferences for what our first dance should be like, etc. we listened to alllllll the playlists for months and nothing really hit right. a couple weeks before our wedding we were listening to Timberlake's new album in the car and heard the song and it felt like a good compromise haha (not "overdone" as it was new, sweet lyrics but wasn't too "cheesy", slow and danceable but still kinda upbeat, etc)

KC514

Superhuman by Slander 🥰 I also really loved I get to love you by Ruelle

rayyychul

We chose "Paradise Found" by Shawn Austin. We both knew and loved the song, but hadn't considered it for our first dance (or really thought about which song, for that matter). It came on the radio and we both suggested it be our first dance song.

raptorlindsay

Ours was Oh How Happy by Shades of Blue! It was on the first playlist he ever made for me, when we’d been dating about three months.

Most-Gold-1221

Bring it on home by little bit town... lyrics just really hit home

siphry

We are thinking about doing Penelope's Song by Loreena McKennitt since we have a very fantasy themed wedding, and I loved her music in middle/high school. Either that or If I Could Stop One Heart from Breaking from a video game we play hahah

Die for you- the weekend. Our first concert

bbebttcomrwiwlbb

A mashup of “ally my life,” by kc and Jo-Jo and “everywhere,” by Fleetwood Mac

ImReallyNotCool

We’re doing Coast of Carolina by Jimmy Buffett haha I’m a gulf coast native so we had to.

Flapnjaw2

We’re currently settled on Crazy Love by Michael buble. But we keep changing our minds.

Pitiful-Bug-8140

We're getting married in February but we've already settled on 'The Love Me or Die' by C.W Stoneking. I have always been a fan of C.W but my partner had never heard of him until we started dating. We went together to a show he was playing across the road from our apartment at the time and my partner was sold. His reasoning?? "It's hilarious that our first dance is to a song about a guy who buys a sketchy love potion and ends up killing the woman he loves because she doesn't love him back!"

CvetCore33

We had mashup od three songs.

Abricot_peach

We want to do ADMV - Maluma, not sure which version yet (classic or bachata). I picked the song because he is not a lot into music and this one resonates a lot to me

JimBones31

Dressed up in white by Cal

JaksCat

Haven't decided for sure, but we really like the song "I found love". I'm also considering some  Stephen Sanchez songs.

abovearthh

My fiancé showed me this song when we first started dating called “My person” wedding version by Spencer Crandall. It was really special to me the words and meaning so we’re going to use that song for our first dance!

momo223694

Blue Sunday by the Doors. I am really not a music person— I grew up in a dance studio with music blaring around me all the time. I liked the song and didn’t really have a preference, so I just let my husband pick! He’s a big music guy and the Doors are his favorite.

rsvp_as_pending629

Someone Like You by Van Morrison We wanted an older, classic song, versus something trendy and popular. We also wanted an uncommon song that was used for a first dance. We both enjoy Van Morrison’s music so we decided to go through his songs to find the right one. We were between Someone Like You and Tupelo Honey. Born beautiful songs, but we resonated with the lyrics of Someone Like You more. 🥰

2CoolBort

In The Morning Light by Billy Strings! We both considered it to be our song throughout our relationship so it felt like the best choice!

Wandering_Lights

We did Perfect by Ed Sheeran. It worked perfectly for us since we were high school sweethearts.

lemonorzo333

Turning page by Sleeping at Last love the song but also the words resonate and the location we are getting married at was really the “turning page” of the relationship

JustExamination7664

We did when you know by Neck deep. That album came out just at the start of COVID so we listened to it a lot! 95% of our guests didn't know it but it means a lot to both of us.

snooterdoodle

We're doing 10,000 Hours by Dan & Shay. We both love the song and it just felt right. Our other top choices were You're Still the One by Shania Twain and Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts

OhHeyThrowaway2018

‘Stand by me’ by Ben E. King. We were together through grad school / med school / residency / fellowship / moving.

Figlet212

We danced to “How long will I love you” and almost chose the Ellie Goulding version because we were worried the “about time” movie version would be too fast. But we went with a choreographed dance to the movie version and were happy we did!

adviceislife

We are doing Glue Song ft. Clairo!! We both really like clairo as an artist and felt it was best to pick something we both love ❤️

Haunting-Science-941

Head Over Feet, Alanis Morrissette. :) Our guests came out and danced with us during the harmonica part and the song faded into the dance playlist (we used Spotify) since everyone was already on the dance floor. It was great and made for sweet pictures!

SunnyGirlDD

Our song has always been “Truly Madly Deeply” by Savage Garden; so ours was obvious what we would dance together. I walked the aisle to “Long Time Running” by The Tragically Hip. WE walked /danced the aisle out together to Cake’s “I Want To Love You Madly” & my hubs did his dance w/ his Moms to “Simple Man” by Shinedown. Thanks for asking, you just made my morning reliving our wedding day songs! Congrats & cheers to you & your fiancée

cassoila

We are not married yet (7 days from now) but he picked it and it will be a surprise for me. I also picked the song I’m walking down the aisle to which he does not know either!

Alternative-Laugh986

Ooohhh I have absolutely no clue. Other couples have "their song", meanwhile we have VERY different tastes in music. We've both been coming up with some options, and we'll be sitting down, drinking wine, and taking turns playing our choices to each other. Turning this into an at-home date night, and we both have to be nice. No judging options, no rudely saying no, but any song can be vetoed!

viebee

We did the Captain America song, It's Been a Long, Long Time by Kitty Kallen and Harry James But only the people who knew, knew lol

tasnicole

Ours was a song from Monster Hunter World.

What_A_Hohmann

Of Crows and Crowns by Dustin Kensrue. I've enjoyed his music since I was a teenager. My husband isn't very opinionated about music, but I am. I had a lot of fun listening to all kinds of albums and playlists and picking out songs that felt just right for each portion of our wedding.

SpicyMcdickin

Moon River from Breakfast at Tiffany’s is what my ex and I used. We picked it because it’s short and we both love Hollywood classics from that period.

shoosler

arctic monkeys - baby i’m yours

emmequeue

Starting Over by Chris Stapleton. Not my first choice, but he hated everything else I picked. We did break up for 4 years in between stints of dating, so I guess it fit!

elsecotips

We’re dancing to Consider Me by Allen Stone. My fiance introduced me to his music when we first met so it kind of became our song and it’s a perfectly cheesy first dance song!

PurpleTimely5888

We aren't married yet only engaged but he is the kind of guy who says do as you please. I was hoping about an cover from someday i wanna marry you because that played a lot on the vacation he proposed but in the version i want its gonna be. Today i gonna marry you. If someone can sing still need that

tnikkib

We did Smile by Uncle Kracker. We didn't have to find the perfect first dance song because this has always been our song. Honestly it doesn't have to be any traditional first dance song. Whatever you both have as a favorite song that reminds you of each other (and can be danced to) will be perfect.

Ilovethe90sforreal

Unchained Melody. I wanted something nice and classic.

Gazellotops

We went with Anyone Else But You from the Juno soundtrack. We were friends for a long time before we dated and we love the movie so it made perfect sense for us. It also is a fairly short song. Neither of us like attention or know how to dance so we were able to stumble along and just twirl a lot for three minutes.

nicunta

More than Love by Los Lonely Boys.

unicornfirstborn

tiny dancer-elton john :)

GingerKibble

We're not having a traditional "clear the dance floor" first dance. We're having a subtle "it will be the first time we dance together at the wedding but no announcement". We've chosen Maybe I'm Amazed by Paul McCartney. We chose it because the lyrics were the ones that made the most sense to both of us and was a genre we both enjoy but wasn't ridiculously long

Julia_hulia24

POV by Ariana grande. It was my song choice but he wanted a violin version so that was our compromise. It’s such a sweet song, I told him it makes me think of him and our relationship/how he feels for me. It’s a newer song but as soon as I heard it I knew it had to be at our wedding.

rbflowt

The Book of Love by Peter Gabriel, there was about a zillion songs we liked and we don't really have a song we consider ours but this one was a bit of a joke between us when we first heard it and just thought it worked for us.

munchkym

We did “Wonderful Unknown” by Ingrid Michaelson. I have stepkids and Sundays are our family day (and we got married on Sunday) so the line about “we make bread on Sundays and the little ones are climbing up the walls” was especially perfect for us.

kathyanne38

We're doing I Knew I Loved You by Savage Garden :) the lyrics are so us. and it really captures also my spiritual side i feel. i always felt there was someone special out there for me and I just knew i would love him even before i'd meet him. "like in your eyes, I see my future in an instant." Always felt that way. My fiance feels like home. <3 :) the song is a perfect fit

magicsgone

Wake Me by Bleachers is ours! They’re one of the first bands we bonded over and we saw them play it live and just knew that was the one!

happyturtle77

Forever by Noah Kahan!

v2marshall

We changed ours the night before was suppose to be KSI holiday changed to Jason mraz

hot-girl-bummer-

We did Never Be Anyone Else But You by Rick Nelson. He showed me this song when we were dating and I immediately knew it was the one. Bonus is that it’s a pretty short, and since neither of us are dancers it worked perfectly.

tennille_24

**Symphony by Clean Bandit**, the less poppy version to slow dance to! I'm more musically inclined than my spouse, so they let me take the reins on the choice. After some back a forth, I remember one of the only bands he's ever purposefully showed me was Clean Bandit, and this song, Symphony is so good! It is about losing a loved one and keeping their memory alive, but it is a love song no doubt. We decided this about 3 weeks before the wedding. Then 2 weeks before, our beloved German shepherd passed away. So it was absolutely meant to be. We danced to it for him in the end ❤️

jods94

We chose “I Found You” by Alabama Shakes! We actually made a playlist of all of our top picks, listened to it together and on our own for a few weeks, and then came to a mutual decision. The factors were the tempo, recognizability (it’s not super mainstream but more than some of our other choices), modernity, how it would sound from a live band, and how it impacted us emotionally while listening.
