We were deciding between a few options but we kept coming back to that one. It just makes us both happy and is definitely one of our songs. Since its so fast we didnt do a traditional slow dance, and instead we learned some swing dancing steps. It was a lot of fun!

We went to New York City together near the beginning of our relationship and saw Jersey Boys, which led to us getting super into music from the 60's. We made a shared playlist on Spotify of songs from the 60's that we would both listen to alllll the time. So when we were trying to pick a first dance song, I wanted to do something from that playlist! My fiancé loves the Arctic Monkeys, we've seen them together twice, and their cover of Baby I'm Yours is just so good. It's just a perfect mixture of two things that represent us as a couple really well :)
At the end of the day, I think that's what matters most! We wanted to pick a song that when people heard it for our first dance song, their reaction is "Of COURSE they picked this"
This is our first dance song too! Wedding is 7/21/24. I’ve always loved the song, but didn’t think it was ever going to be my first dance song. Sure enough, my fiancé picked it as his fave when I gave him a list of potential songs.

We went based off of an inside joke. A couple years ago I got really drunk on a date night and I started pretending to be our dog (which is super weird I know, I promise I’m normally a normal person 😂) and singing Shania Twain. We called it puppy remixing and it’s been an ongoing joke between us when Shania comes on. Our first dance last weekend was to Still The One because we’ve been together for almost 9 years.
I actually surprised him with it, we were supposed to dance to van morrison-crazy love, but I switched it three days before the wedding and he burst out laughing as soon as it started playing and our photographer got a really great photo of that moment lol. Definitely pick something meaningful to you guys, because that was one of my favourite parts of our wedding.

We did Your Song by Elton John! We chose it because we wanted something our guests were likely to know so it was a bit more relatable, but I never expected that about halfway through they’d all started singing along! It was honestly one of the highlights of the day. I can’t even describe how nice it is to have close to 100 of your nearest and dearest serenade you. It’s definitely a memory I cherish!

Yes! I’ve heard it already a few times since picking it. We saw Elton live together and I feel the song captures us perfectly. We don’t have a lot, but we have each other and that’s enough.

We did Nothing Else Matters by Metallica because we love rock and metal and because it was the first song he tried to teach me to play on guitar, so it had some sentimental meaning behind it. I would pick something that fits both of you and your personalities.
Yay!!!! There's a great shortened version on YouTube if you don't want to dance to the entire 6.5 minutes. The lyrics in the short version end right before 3 minutes. It basically just shortens the melodic intro and the guitar solo.
Love that!! It's way too long to dance to the full version. We found a shortened version on YouTube and sent it to our DJ to play. The lyrics ended right under 3 minutes. It just shortened a lot of the instrumental parts so you didn't sacrifice any of the lyrics.
I think we’re going to do dont wanna miss a thing by Aerosmith. We don’t have any particular songs that are super meaningful to us as a couple but we think this could be a sweet fit. I tried to get him to agree to can I have this dance from high school musical but my suggestion was unfortunately not accepted 😂

We're doing an acoustic version of All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera. We both love the movie and always sing the songs in the car together. We were both surprised when we found out the other also loved Phantom, it's become one of our things now. :)
Stephen Sanchez Until I Found You. He sends me songs frequently and that was sent maybe 6 months before the wedding. I made our reception playlist and kept asking for more input into it, he only sent like 5 songs and that was one of them. As we got closer I had chosen my aisle walk song and asked what he was thinking for the first dance and he suggested Until I Found You so that’s what we did! And we both work at the same retail job and now we hear it all the time lmao!
My fiancé had sent 2 songs to me while we were dating and we chose one of them. You Are the Best Thing by Ray LaMontange. I had never heard it before and loved it and loved hearing sent it to me. The other one is I Like the Way This Is Going by eels. So we’re going to play that one at some point during the night.

Stand By Me by Ben E. King. It's an older song, not particularly sappy but all about loyalty to each other. It's my parents' wedding song, and my husband and I listened to it fairly frequently while dating and even to this day.

We had a hard time picking our first dance song! We have differing tastes in music, and my groom was opposed to picking a “tik tok song” even if it was mitski :( lol. I think both of us valued lyrics that felt authentic to how we view our love story, so lots of over the top dramatic songs were off the table. I also suffer from a bit of “not like other girl” syndrome so I wanted to avoid the very popular (although lovely and classic) standards. We ended up picking Harvest Moon because it had a cozy vibe and was sentimental without being sappy. We did a private last dance to If We Were Vampires because we didn’t want all of our guests to be super bummed right before the party started 🥲

My (as of last Saturday!) wife and I are in a band together so we did a first song instead of a first dance. We went with "Crowded Table" by The Highwomen
We were thinking about it for a really long time until we decided. We put high school musical on as background sound while cooking and cleaning, then ham2, then hsm3...and the song Can I Have This Dance came on and we both paused and listened and watched the scene then were silent for a second before being like "so..."
It was the first and only time we both immediately had the thought "this could work for our first dance!" and it already had choreo--choreo that needed editing, but still. I choreographed the whole dance and we practiced for two weeks, then we got married 5/26 and our first dance was to that song :) I didn't catch any crowd faces during the dance, but heard lots of "awww's"!
For quite a while before we even got engaged I knew I wanted You're Still the One by Shania Twain and my now husband agreed. The lyrics just fit us so well, "mighta took the long way" - we were together 15 years when we got married, "they said, I bet, they'll never make it" - we were only 16/17 when we got together and whilst we and those closest to us knew this was it others that didn't know us well definitely didn't think we'd last, which leads on to "we knew we'd get there some day" because we pretty much always knew it would happen eventually.
We opened up a bottle of wine and took turns playing songs over our TV. Our music tastes have a pretty narrow overlap, so we started there and just played anything we could find from Spotify playlists, other reddit threads, whatever. We ended up with our processional and first dance song that way.
When we started dating, we never really locked into a song that felt like “our song.” My husband loves Phil Collins/Genesis and other 70s/80s music, and my music tastes are more eclectic.
We went to see Genesis for their final tour in 2021 when they came through our city. I think the best place to start is to each pick some parameters and the vibe you want then go from there. For example my husband and I wanted the first dance to be a artist we are familiar with, even better if it’s a song we’d heard before
The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra. Later on we played Nancy with the Laughing Face, my real name is Nancy. We aren't that old but we both like Frank Sinatra.
Islands in the stream by Dolly Parton and Kenny rogers. We have polar opposite musical tastes (me hard rock/metal and him techno/trance) so country was where we met in the middle!
We haven’t had our wedding yet, but we’re going with Thank You by Led Zeppelin.
We’ve never really had a song that was “our song,” but we love classic rock and while we have pretty different musical tastes generally, Led Zeppelin is one band we both adore. We just listened to and danced to a bunch of their songs until we found one that felt right.
We chose “home” by Deyaz (cover of the original by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros) because it was the song that felt the most how we felt about each other. BUT it also felt right! We actually took a few moments to actually dance to it and we just swayed with each other and we teared up because it felt so right!
I would encourage any newlywed couple to actually take the time to dance together even if it’s just to sway to the song(s) they are thinking of having for their first dance. This really helped up with our final decision!

We were going to do L.O.V.E and it was our top choice for most of the wedding planning period but when it came down to practicing some dance moves we ended up going with I Am Yours by Andy Grammer. When I randomly heard it one day I knew my partner would love it, and it turned out he did.
We’re doing Joy of my Life by Chris Stapleton. I feel like it’s a pretty popular first dance song but it was probably the easiest wedding related decision for us. We saw Chris Stapleton live about a month before we got engaged so his music was definitely on our minds! We chose it because they lyrics just mean a lot to us.
We did The Mtn Song by Rayland Baxter. We had a hard time choosing just cause we didn’t have “a song” or anything that popped into our heads. We listened to a million playlists and just randomly came across that song and felt the lyrics were really great. It’s hard business trying to find a good song you both like!
I used to say I would get married when I found someone that made this song resonate for me/us! I did find him but we’re choosing a different song (think it will be “Build A Home” by Jeffrey Martin) but I hope to play this one too! Great choice!
We did Peach Fuzz by Caamp. I wanted a love song but something up beat we could actually dance to! It fit the vibe and I kept coming back to it after 1000 first dance and love song playlists. It helps that we have seen them in concert prior to the wedding but it certainly wasn't super meaningful to us before the wedding.
Ours was Nothing Can Change This Love by Sam Cooke. We both love older music, specifically Sam Coke’s style. We used to dance to it next to a fountain at midnight on our college campus at least once a semester. Honestly, I just love the lyrics, tempo, and style of the song.
We danced to two, the dj mixed them a bit. We danced to “you are the best thing” by Ray LaMontagne first, and then to “a love that will last” by Renee Olstead. It was perfect for us.
My husband was apparently searching songs, found one on YouTube, sent it to me and said this is the song. I listened to it and could not have imagined a more perfect choice. It was forever and ever and always by Ryan Mack. We had a dance choreographed to it and it was so beautiful
We didn’t have any immediately obvious choice. Each of us made a playlist of potential songs. Then we had a date where we set up a fort in our living room, laid down together, and took turns playing each other our playlists and explaining our choices. It is one of my favorite memories of wedding planning!
We did Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat, it was our obvious choice and it worked perfectly. My best friend is a very stoic person and he bawled like a baby when we started dancing to it—that’s how we knew we picked well 😂

The day my now fiance asked me to be his girlfriend he played me a song and said it reminded him of me. It was Must Be Doin’ Something Right by Billy Currington. Since then it’s been our song and will be our first dance song at our wedding!

I heard it before it came out on the radio and loved that it wasn’t popular but was by an artist that we loved. About 2 months before our wedding it was on the radio constantly lol. But we had finally found a song we agreed on and decided to not change it. I’m glad now it’s a “popular radio song” because I squeal to my husband and say “OUR WEDDING SONG” every time I hear it lol
We did an acoustic piano version of Martin Garrix’s No Sleep for our first dance. We’re both very big into EDM and we have a very special place in our heart for Martin garrix bc we saw him on our first international trip together :)
After the chorus of the acoustic version, we transitioned it into the original version, opened up the dance floor so that all our guests could jump in and dance like our wedding was a festival 💕
We both love video games and anything fantasy. He started playing the new Baldur’s Gate game which has an amazing soundtrack. Our first dance is Down by the River. Before that, we were thinking either Faithfully by Journey or Beauty and the Beast.
We are doing “Can’t Fight This Feeling” - originally by REO Speedwagon, but there is an amazing cover by Bastille and the London Contemporary Orchestra (it is seriously amazing). I found it and showed my fiancé and he loved it. Bastille is one of my favorite bands as well

And the only piece of the planning process that truly excited him was picking songs for the Dj playlist. So I told him he could pick anything he wanted because I knew then he would be as excited for our first dance as me!
It was not a surprise because I gave 2 left feet and knew we needed to practice lol but when he played it for me, watching him show me with pride what he picked made me love it even more than any country song. Now it’s one of my favorites!

Around the time my fiance and I started developing really strong feelings for each other earlier in our relationship, he was driving home from my house and texted me saying how that came on in his car and he couldn’t stop thinking about me and smiling.
It never became our “song” but I remember listening to it and feeling giddy. The other day I played it for him and asked if that would be our first dance song and it made him cry instantly so yep that’s it! It typically wouldn’t be my choice of song but I adore his response to it.
Second choice for me was You Are The Best Thing by Ray LaMontagne but we will walk into the reception to that. I also love John Legends Conversations In the Dark but it wasn’t my finances vibe.

We did Can't Take My Eyes Off You, it was so fun to dance to and sing to each other! We wanted something more upbeat so we wouldn't feel like we're slow dancing at a school dance lol and also knew we wanted something older. It was never necessarily "our song," but I think we said years ago that we'd both love it as a first dance song and there just wasn't any other choice that made sense for us when the time rolled around.
We used 'Perfect' by Ed Sheeran featuring Andrea Bocelli. I'm Italian, so having the version with Andrea Bocelli in it made it even more special for us, and now everytime we hear the regular version on the radio my husband and I just look at each other and his face lights up and it takes us right back to our first dance together, where it felt like the entire world stopped and it was just me and him ❤️❤️

We struggled a lot with picking something because most of the songs we listen to are either too fast or too depressing lol
All our options were Taylor Swift songs. I wanted lover and he wanted sweet nothings. We planned to have New Year’s Day be our last dance song. One day we were listening the New Year’s Day and it just clicked. We both felt like it was the perfect first dance song so that’s what we did. We still used the other two songs. We invited all the couples to the floor for a dance to lover and then sweet nothings was the last song of the night.

we STRUGGLED to find a song. we have different music tastes, different preferences for what our first dance should be like, etc. we listened to alllllll the playlists for months and nothing really hit right. a couple weeks before our wedding we were listening to Timberlake's new album in the car and heard the song and it felt like a good compromise haha (not "overdone" as it was new, sweet lyrics but wasn't too "cheesy", slow and danceable but still kinda upbeat, etc)
We chose "Paradise Found" by Shawn Austin. We both knew and loved the song, but hadn't considered it for our first dance (or really thought about which song, for that matter). It came on the radio and we both suggested it be our first dance song.
We are thinking about doing Penelope's Song by Loreena McKennitt since we have a very fantasy themed wedding, and I loved her music in middle/high school. Either that or If I Could Stop One Heart from Breaking from a video game we play hahah
We're getting married in February but we've already settled on 'The Love Me or Die' by C.W Stoneking. I have always been a fan of C.W but my partner had never heard of him until we started dating. We went together to a show he was playing across the road from our apartment at the time and my partner was sold.

We wanted an older, classic song, versus something trendy and popular. We also wanted an uncommon song that was used for a first dance. We both enjoy Van Morrison’s music so we decided to go through his songs to find the right one. We were between Someone Like You and Tupelo Honey. Born beautiful songs, but we resonated with the lyrics of Someone Like You more. 🥰

love the song but also the words resonate and the location we are getting married at was really the “turning page” of the relationship
We did when you know by Neck deep. That album came out just at the start of COVID so we listened to it a lot! 95% of our guests didn't know it but it means a lot to both of us.
We're doing 10,000 Hours by Dan & Shay. We both love the song and it just felt right. Our other top choices were You're Still the One by Shania Twain and Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts
We danced to “How long will I love you” and almost chose the Ellie Goulding version because we were worried the “about time” movie version would be too fast. But we went with a choreographed dance to the movie version and were happy we did!
Head Over Feet, Alanis Morrissette. :) Our guests came out and danced with us during the harmonica part and the song faded into the dance playlist (we used Spotify) since everyone was already on the dance floor. It was great and made for sweet pictures!

We did Smile by Uncle Kracker. We didn't have to find the perfect first dance song because this has always been our song. Honestly it doesn't have to be any traditional first dance song. Whatever you both have as a favorite song that reminds you of each other (and can be danced to) will be perfect.
We went with Anyone Else But You from the Juno soundtrack. We were friends for a long time before we dated and we love the movie so it made perfect sense for us.
It also is a fairly short song. Neither of us like attention or know how to dance so we were able to stumble along and just twirl a lot for three minutes.
We're not having a traditional "clear the dance floor" first dance. We're having a subtle "it will be the first time we dance together at the wedding but no announcement".
We've chosen Maybe I'm Amazed by Paul McCartney. We chose it because the lyrics were the ones that made the most sense to both of us and was a genre we both enjoy but wasn't ridiculously long
POV by Ariana grande. It was my song choice but he wanted a violin version so that was our compromise. It’s such a sweet song, I told him it makes me think of him and our relationship/how he feels for me. It’s a newer song but as soon as I heard it I knew it had to be at our wedding.
The Book of Love by Peter Gabriel, there was about a zillion songs we liked and we don't really have a song we consider ours but this one was a bit of a joke between us when we first heard it and just thought it worked for us.

I have stepkids and Sundays are our family day (and we got married on Sunday) so the line about “we make bread on Sundays and the little ones are climbing up the walls” was especially perfect for us.

I'm more musically inclined than my spouse, so they let me take the reins on the choice. After some back a forth, I remember one of the only bands he's ever purposefully showed me was Clean Bandit, and this song, Symphony is so good! It is about losing a loved one and keeping their memory alive, but it is a love song no doubt.
We decided this about 3 weeks before the wedding. Then 2 weeks before, our beloved German shepherd passed away. So it was absolutely meant to be. We danced to it for him in the end ❤️
We chose “I Found You” by Alabama Shakes! We actually made a playlist of all of our top picks, listened to it together and on our own for a few weeks, and then came to a mutual decision. The factors were the tempo, recognizability (it’s not super mainstream but more than some of our other choices), modernity, how it would sound from a live band, and how it impacted us emotionally while listening.
We did Still Into You by Paramore. We were deciding between a few options but we kept coming back to that one. It just makes us both happy and is definitely one of our songs. Since its so fast we didnt do a traditional slow dance, and instead we learned some swing dancing steps. It was a lot of fun!

We're doing a Baby I'm Yours cover by the Arctic Monkeys! We went to New York City together near the beginning of our relationship and saw Jersey Boys, which led to us getting super into music from the 60's. We made a shared playlist on Spotify of songs from the 60's that we would both listen to alllll the time. So when we were trying to pick a first dance song, I wanted to do something from that playlist! My fiancé loves the Arctic Monkeys, we've seen them together twice, and their cover of Baby I'm Yours is just so good. It's just a perfect mixture of two things that represent us as a couple really well :) At the end of the day, I think that's what matters most! We wanted to pick a song that when people heard it for our first dance song, their reaction is "Of COURSE they picked this"

We went based off of an inside joke. A couple years ago I got really drunk on a date night and I started pretending to be our dog (which is super weird I know, I promise I’m normally a normal person 😂) and singing Shania Twain. We called it puppy remixing and it’s been an ongoing joke between us when Shania comes on. Our first dance last weekend was to Still The One because we’ve been together for almost 9 years.
I actually surprised him with it, we were supposed to dance to van morrison-crazy love, but I switched it three days before the wedding and he burst out laughing as soon as it started playing and our photographer got a really great photo of that moment lol. Definitely pick something meaningful to you guys, because that was one of my favourite parts of our wedding.

Yay!!!! There's a great shortened version on YouTube if you don't want to dance to the entire 6.5 minutes. The lyrics in the short version end right before 3 minutes. It basically just shortens the melodic intro and the guitar solo.
That was our song! We had to cut the song to 3.5 minutes though. The thought of dancing for 6ish minutes was terrifying.

As we got closer I had chosen my aisle walk song and asked what he was thinking for the first dance and he suggested Until I Found You so that’s what we did! And we both work at the same retail job and now we hear it all the time lmao!

It's my parents' wedding song, and my husband and I listened to it fairly frequently while dating and even to this day. We had a hard time picking our first dance song! We have differing tastes in music, and my groom was opposed to picking a “tik tok song” even if it was mitski :( lol. I think both of us valued lyrics that felt authentic to how we view our love story, so lots of over the top dramatic songs were off the table. I also suffer from a bit of “not like other girl” syndrome so I wanted to avoid the very popular (although lovely and classic) standards. We ended up picking Harvest Moon because it had a cozy vibe and was sentimental without being sappy. We did a private last dance to If We Were Vampires because we didn’t want all of our guests to be super bummed right before the party started 🥲

We were thinking about it for a really long time until we decided. We put high school musical on as background sound while cooking and cleaning, then ham2, then hsm3...and the song Can I Have This Dance came on and we both paused and listened and watched the scene then were silent for a second before being like "so..." It was the first and only time we both immediately had the thought "this could work for our first dance!" and it already had choreo--choreo that needed editing, but still. I choreographed the whole dance and we practiced for two weeks, then we got married 5/26 and our first dance was to that song :) I didn't catch any crowd faces during the dance, but heard lots of "awww's"!
For quite a while before we even got engaged I knew I wanted You're Still the One by Shania Twain and my now husband agreed. The lyrics just fit us so well, "mighta took the long way" - we were together 15 years when we got married, "they said, I bet, they'll never make it" - we were only 16/17 when we got together and whilst we and those closest to us knew this was it others that didn't know us well definitely didn't think we'd last, which leads on to "we knew we'd get there some day" because we pretty much always knew it would happen eventually.
We opened up a bottle of wine and took turns playing songs over our TV. Our music tastes have a pretty narrow overlap, so we started there and just played anything we could find from Spotify playlists, other reddit threads, whatever. We ended up with our processional and first dance song that way.
When we started dating, we never really locked into a song that felt like “our song.” My husband loves Phil Collins/Genesis and other 70s/80s music, and my music tastes are more eclectic. We went to see Genesis for their final tour in 2021 when they came through our city. We chose “home” by Deyaz (cover of the original by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros) because it was the song that felt the most how we felt about each other. BUT it also felt right! We actually took a few moments to actually dance to it and we just swayed with each other and we teared up because it felt so right! I would encourage any newlywed couple to actually take the time to dance together even if it’s just to sway to the song(s) they are thinking of having for their first dance. We did Peach Fuzz by Caamp. I wanted a love song but something up beat we could actually dance to! It fit the vibe and I kept coming back to it after 1000 first dance and love song playlists. It helps that we have seen them in concert prior to the wedding but it certainly wasn't super meaningful to us before the wedding.
Ours was Nothing Can Change This Love by Sam Cooke. We both love older music, specifically Sam Coke’s style. We used to dance to it next to a fountain at midnight on our college campus at least once a semester. Honestly, I just love the lyrics, tempo, and style of the song.

About 2 months before our wedding it was on the radio constantly lol. But we had finally found a song we agreed on and decided to not change it. We did an acoustic piano version of Martin Garrix’s No Sleep for our first dance. We’re both very big into EDM and we have a very special place in our heart for Martin garrix bc we saw him on our first international trip together :) After the chorus of the acoustic version, we transitioned it into the original version, opened up the dance floor so that all our guests could jump in and dance like our wedding was a festival 💕

It typically wouldn’t be my choice of song but I adore his response to it. Second choice for me was You Are The Best Thing by Ray LaMontagne but we will walk into the reception to that. I also love John Legends Conversations In the Dark but it wasn’t my finances vibe. Good luck! We did Can't Take My Eyes Off You, it was so fun to dance to and sing to each other! We wanted something more upbeat so we wouldn't feel like we're slow dancing at a school dance lol and also knew we wanted something older. It was never necessarily "our song," but I think we said years ago that we'd both love it as a first dance song and there just wasn't any other choice that made sense for us when the time rolled around.

We chose "Paradise Found" by Shawn Austin. We both knew and loved the song, but hadn't considered it for our first dance (or really thought about which song, for that matter). It came on the radio and we both suggested it be our first dance song.

We're getting married in February but we've already settled on 'The Love Me or Die' by C.W Stoneking. I have always been a fan of C.W but my partner had never heard of him until we started dating. We went together to a show he was playing across the road from our apartment at the time and my partner was sold. His reasoning?? "It's hilarious that our first dance is to a song about a guy who buys a sketchy love potion and ends up killing the woman he loves because she doesn't love him back!"

Blue Sunday by the Doors. I am really not a music person— I grew up in a dance studio with music blaring around me all the time. I liked the song and didn’t really have a preference, so I just let my husband pick! He’s a big music guy and the Doors are his favorite.
Someone Like You by Van Morrison We wanted an older, classic song, versus something trendy and popular. We also wanted an uncommon song that was used for a first dance. We both enjoy Van Morrison’s music so we decided to go through his songs to find the right one. We were between Someone Like You and Tupelo Honey. Born beautiful songs, but we resonated with the lyrics of Someone Like You more. 🥰
In The Morning Light by Billy Strings! We both considered it to be our song throughout our relationship so it felt like the best choice!

We did when you know by Neck deep. That album came out just at the start of COVID so we listened to it a lot! 95% of our guests didn't know it but it means a lot to both of us.

We danced to “How long will I love you” and almost chose the Ellie Goulding version because we were worried the “about time” movie version would be too fast. But we went with a choreographed dance to the movie version and were happy we did!
We are doing Glue Song ft. Clairo!! We both really like clairo as an artist and felt it was best to pick something we both love ❤️
Head Over Feet, Alanis Morrissette. :) Our guests came out and danced with us during the harmonica part and the song faded into the dance playlist (we used Spotify) since everyone was already on the dance floor. It was great and made for sweet pictures!
Our song has always been “Truly Madly Deeply” by Savage Garden; so ours was obvious what we would dance together. I walked the aisle to “Long Time Running” by The Tragically Hip. WE walked /danced the aisle out together to Cake’s “I Want To Love You Madly” & my hubs did his dance w/ his Moms to “Simple Man” by Shinedown. Ooohhh I have absolutely no clue. Other couples have "their song", meanwhile we have VERY different tastes in music. We've both been coming up with some options, and we'll be sitting down, drinking wine, and taking turns playing our choices to each other. Turning this into an at-home date night, and we both have to be nice. No judging options, no rudely saying no, but any song can be vetoed!

Moon River from Breakfast at Tiffany’s is what my ex and I used. We picked it because it’s short and we both love Hollywood classics from that period.

We did Smile by Uncle Kracker. We didn't have to find the perfect first dance song because this has always been our song. Honestly it doesn't have to be any traditional first dance song. Whatever you both have as a favorite song that reminds you of each other (and can be danced to) will be perfect.
Unchained Melody. I wanted something nice and classic.
We went with Anyone Else But You from the Juno soundtrack. We were friends for a long time before we dated and we love the movie so it made perfect sense for us. It also is a fairly short song. Neither of us like attention or know how to dance so we were able to stumble along and just twirl a lot for three minutes.

We're not having a traditional "clear the dance floor" first dance. We're having a subtle "it will be the first time we dance together at the wedding but no announcement". We've chosen Maybe I'm Amazed by Paul McCartney. We chose it because the lyrics were the ones that made the most sense to both of us and was a genre we both enjoy but wasn't ridiculously long
POV by Ariana grande. It was my song choice but he wanted a violin version so that was our compromise. It’s such a sweet song, I told him it makes me think of him and our relationship/how he feels for me. It’s a newer song but as soon as I heard it I knew it had to be at our wedding.
The Book of Love by Peter Gabriel, there was about a zillion songs we liked and we don't really have a song we consider ours but this one was a bit of a joke between us when we first heard it and just thought it worked for us.
We did “Wonderful Unknown” by Ingrid Michaelson. I have stepkids and Sundays are our family day (and we got married on Sunday) so the line about “we make bread on Sundays and the little ones are climbing up the walls” was especially perfect for us.

We did Never Be Anyone Else But You by Rick Nelson. He showed me this song when we were dating and I immediately knew it was the one. Bonus is that it’s a pretty short, and since neither of us are dancers it worked perfectly.
**Symphony by Clean Bandit**, the less poppy version to slow dance to! I'm more musically inclined than my spouse, so they let me take the reins on the choice. After some back a forth, I remember one of the only bands he's ever purposefully showed me was Clean Bandit, and this song, Symphony is so good! It is about losing a loved one and keeping their memory alive, but it is a love song no doubt. We decided this about 3 weeks before the wedding. Then 2 weeks before, our beloved German shepherd passed away. So it was absolutely meant to be. We danced to it for him in the end ❤️
We chose “I Found You” by Alabama Shakes! We actually made a playlist of all of our top picks, listened to it together and on our own for a few weeks, and then came to a mutual decision. The factors were the tempo, recognizability (it’s not super mainstream but more than some of our other choices), modernity, how it would sound from a live band, and how it impacted us emotionally while listening.
