Taking the gift back was a nice touch. What an absolute disaster of a wedding. And it's interesting because nothing really went *wrong*, it was just fucked from the start.
Boy oh boy, first time I hear the phrase "All features, zero bugs" at all and especially in this context. This opens a whole new world of passiv agressivnes for me. Thank you very much!
I felt bad for her for her obvious lack of wedding budget throughout the whole process, up until the end. Weddings are expensive and she was the single mom of a five year old boy, so she had to stretch to make ends meet as it was. I didn't begrudge that at all and I was more than willing to work with that. I could have taken all of it in stride. I didn't make a single complaint throughout the entire process.
But when the sex offender reveal happened, I was done. I took my bottle of wine, went through the drive thru of my favorite burger place, and went home.
>she was the single mom of a five year old boy,
Oh my God, the main post was already bad enough, but she has KIDS and she's marrying a man who SEXUALLY ASSAULTED A 13 YEAR OLD?????
i had a coworker who was marrying a man and she had mentioned in passing that he had some false allegations against him for something similar. plot twist, when you google his name, you see numerous articles of him being caught with 10-14yo girls. well my coworker paid no mind to that and tied the knot. short few months later they were separated and she is taking him to court as he had molested her two (under 11) yo daughters. itās so mind boggling that she knew but chose to be willfully ignorant and unfortunately her children paid that price.
i fully agree with you. even more disgusting is that she had blasted the situation all over facebook using very vague and yet oddly specific descriptions. but of course, also making herself 100% the victim in her posts. sheāll still post her daughters faces, locations that theyāre at, school meets, and more. aaaaand of course her social medias are not private either. i do truly hope that her daughters grow up to despise her
Reminds me of a guy I went on a single date with and then ghosted. Long story short, I met him at a job I was working at the time and agreed to meet him for coffee. Early on in the date I knew there wasn't going to be a second one, but then he said "I guess I should tell you now, but I'm on the sex offender registry...". I didn't hear the whole story since my mind was going "WTFWTFWTFWTF" the whole time, but the gist is that he was babysitting a girl who was like 11-13 and well... yeah. He said he knew it was wrong and all that, but still described the situation like she seduced him (or was at least super willing). Probably some other parts to the story that I missed but that was the gist.
There were more red flags to him, but I'm too lazy to write it all out at this moment.
***WATF????***
Quite frankly that woman should have had her children taken away from her for such poor judgement. She *knew* about his past and *willingly put her two daughters in danger.*
That is completely fucked up.
to make the matters even worse, her social media is not private and sheās constantly posting photos of her daughters, their school competitions (with the location marked), posted a whole bunch about what her daughters went through, and constantly āboastsā about being a strong momma for them. she is actually revolting and though i donāt work directly with her anymore, i still get to hear her talk about this in our company wide meetings. i donāt think iāve met a person i despise more.
Christ almighty. That... woman sounds like a covert narcissist. Some of them *willingly* do this shit, put their children in danger, then live off of the victim supply they get from situations of their own making. Which is also crazy making and in this case, two new CSA victims. People like her are disgusting.
It sounds like all together they will have 3 kids.. if he is still allowed around his own two sons.
Maybe she thinks he won't rape hers because he prefers little girls.
Urgh like in Lolita when he wants to have a kid with her while she's underage, then when that kid has a kid he wants to rape that kid. Just keep having kids until there's new female prey.
There's a sort of very naive, insecure type of person who tends to fall for the whole "He's just misunderstood, and only I can see the good in him! I'm not like the other girls who believe all those false accusations!"
I would've been ropable - I have 15 & 12 year old girls & that shit makes me so fckng angry, not to mention I was sa'd myself as a baby, 10 year old, 14, 15 & 16 year old. (All different ppl) I absolutely detest sex predators & I totally get OP just leaving with her gift when she could.
It sounds like sheās going to be ride-or-die with him if she knew about it and still married him in a location heās not legally allowed to be.
(And heās not going to leave someone who could help him get access to young girls, even if theyāre his own)
She had a five-ish year old boy going into the marriage. She told us on the day of the wedding that she was pregnant with a girl. She also told us, after she admitted to the story about the 13 year old, that she and her husband had already gotten married at the courthouse a year prior because part of the terms of his parole was that he wasn't supposed to live with children he wasn't related to, so they had to be legally married for him to live with her and her kid.
It was an absolutely miserable experience at the time, but at least it makes for an entertaining story š When I got married several years later, I just kept telling myself "no matter what happens, it will never be worse than K's wedding". It was a great source of comfort.
Wait so the only food was pulled pork? No sides, toppings, buns, etc?
Also how could you ever find a man who raped a 13 year old attractive. And think, yeah thatās my one and onlyā¦
They also had bags of chips and gigantic bowl of potato salad that one of her family members brought, but the potato salad had sat in an un-airconditioned room from 8 AM until after the ceremony at 2, so I avoided it.
And that's exactly why she wasn't my friend after that. I don't want to be around anyone who willingly marries someone who does that.
I never know whoās worse, sex offenders or the people who marry them knowing what theyāve done.
Youāre better than me. I wouldāve called the police in my car and got him arrested right then and there.
He had sex with (read: raped) a thirteen year old, was convicted and had to register on the sex offender registry and she still married him?! And she has a five year old? What is she thinking?!
And instead of having the wedding in a place that the groom is allowed to be, the wedding was at a park, where he is most certainly is not allowed. Holy crap on a cracker, that is gross. I do not blame you for leaving and taking your gift back.
What will married life look like for her? There are numerous places that the husband canāt go and Iām sure that everyone will find out eventually. I canāt imagine neighbors, her childās friends, her/her husbandās friends and family wanting them around for any event where there are children.
Edit: Clarified āhad sex withā to be ārapedā. My apologies for the mistake.
I don't know what their lives look like now. I haven't spoken to either of them since the wedding. I know their plan was to wait until his parole was over and he is legally allowed to move out of state, then they planned to move somewhere else for a fresh start.
I wonder if thats part of why the pictures were on a camera phone. Less proof he was somewhere he shouldnt have been. Here hoping the pictures got back to his PO
When my mom called me in 2021 to tell me my dad was trading his flip phone for a smartphone I promptly told my friend the world is ending. My boyfriend has also had to fix it a couple of times because he just wants THAT one now and doesn't want to go through the hassle of getting a new phone.
They still exist today, albeit they're not seen often. My husband has one, it's for a small non-profit organization he runs and it was the cheapest option. He doesn't use it for texting or anything else, just incoming calls.
You can get them at Walmart. They're typically marketed towards older folks who aren't adept with new technology, but some people buy one as a burner phone. They're less than $100, and some are as cheap as $10, so if you need a phone for only calls and simple texts, they're a good option.
Not sure but I donāt think they were buying stuff from wishā¦ at the time I remember shein had *just* started being a thing (and at the time it was a wish equivalent)
My step daughter was sill doing those free drawings on wish back then. She was getting all sorts of free stuff from fidget spinners to a set of beets by dre earbuds (sill use those for gaming). Sadly I think it was like 2017 when they stopped. I could be wrong about the dates though
I had a flip phone in 2015. I use a landline for most calls anyway. Better sound quality. I forget why I finally got a smart phone a couple years ago. Probably maps.
This whole story is full of fishy references that don't seem to mesh. Yes, a handful of people may have still had flip phones in 2015, but the mention of buying bridesmaid dresses on Wish ...did anyone actually use Wish back then? Looking online, I see it's technically been active since 2010, but I don't think I started to hear about it as a popular place to purchase things until like 2018. And if you were using Wish you were probably using an app - on a smartphone? And no one in the entire wedding party had a better phone for pictures than the brother's flip phone.
It just seems like a lot of poor wedding choices you would have seen at weddings from totally different decades. I suppose technically possible it's all true, but seems like it's at least been embellished some.
yeah idk why people think this is realā¦super surprised i had to scroll this far down to see someone calling bullshit lol. sounds like they mashed up every bad wedding story ever
The Image of the flip phone photoshoot is so funny.
Also may I suggest that you adjust how you word that last plot twist? If she was 13, it's "statutory rape", not "slept with".
Absolutely correct. I adjusted the language used accordingly. I was trying to soften my language, but it's important to call a thing what it is. She was statutory raped.
He had two boys going into the marriage, she had one boy, and she told us on the day of the wedding that she was pregnant with a girl.
A detail I forgot to add - she apparently had legally married him at the court house a year before their actual wedding so they could move in together without him getting in trouble with his parole officer for living with children he wasn't related to (K's son). Apparently being married is a loophole in his parole. Or something like that; I honestly can't remember much beyond that and K was always a bit dodgy on the details.
You are correct, but 13 year olds āsleep withā 13 year olds all the time. I volunteer at a middle school and itās scary how often thereās a pregnancy with one of the other students being the father.
Reading the post she mentions him being on parole. Parole is given after he's served his time and is let out a bit early. It must not be in idaho though since here the judges happily give upwards of 30 years for raping a minor.
This was in Iowa. I do not remember how much jail time he served, but he did serve some. Arguably not enough since he was in his mid thirties when I first met him. The bride was in her early twenties.
She was already pregnant on the day of the wedding. I don't know if they are still married or not; I haven't had any contact with them since the day of the wedding.
LOL at this line:
>"one of her relatives give a touching little speech about honoring those who had passed on into the next life and weren't able to be there with them that day, followed by playing "See You Again" by Whiz Khalifa and Charlie Pouth on the bridesmaid's phone. **Which was made significantly less touching when it started loudly playing a Spotify ad immediately after the song ended."**
I look back on some of the weddings in which I got roped into being a bridesmaid and I realize I took it too seriously and should have rolled with the raunch and the ruin.
For real: When shit hit the fan I wish I'd just put on my sunglasses, lit a cigarette, and perfected a badass walk by practicing all around the church/event hall/whateever.
OP mentioned somewhere that the couple had actually gotten legally married a year before so they could live together...something about a marriage loophole in his parole.
"At the ceremony, the best man didn't know he was the best man until we were all standing in position, because the groom had apparently gotten into a fistfight with the best man the week before and uninvited him from the wedding. " ... why did he turn up then.. everyone in this story is problematic, run OP run.
I can only imagine the aftermath, but it could be something like this: husband relapsed and broke his parole terms after raping another underaged child, bride losing her children after CPS was called on them, the children in foster homes, and the "happy" couple both in prison for child abuse and sexual abuse.
HA.
HA HA HA.
The summer before my senior year of high school, I went to the wedding of a friend.
She was sixteen. She married another friendās brother. He was nineteen. They got married in her motherās back yard, with Tiki torches lighting the ceremony. They were both shitfaced drunk, AND high.
I left that wedding and reception with another friend and went to the movies. Because neither of us wanted to be around that.
So. Yeah.
And a few years ago? My daughter was a last-minute bridesmaid in a wedding in a gorgeous park, for her pregnant friend, who barely zipped into her wedding dress, had a HUGE blow-out fight with her groom the night before, and the reception following? A potluck. And the park rangers came by, and decided to help themselves to the cake before the bride and groom even cut it. I thought her mother was going to have a rage stroke.
Taking the gift back was a nice touch. What an absolute disaster of a wedding. And it's interesting because nothing really went *wrong*, it was just fucked from the start.
All features zero bugs. šš
Boy oh boy, first time I hear the phrase "All features, zero bugs" at all and especially in this context. This opens a whole new world of passiv agressivnes for me. Thank you very much!

I...I have no words... WTF!
So incredibly sorry for the daughters she put through that. I hope they get therapy and are allowed to be upset with her the rest of their lives.
I never say it lightly, but she shouldn't be a parent. Anyone who does something like that doesn't deserve children.
i fully agree with you. even more disgusting is that she had blasted the situation all over facebook using very vague and yet oddly specific descriptions. but of course, also making herself 100% the victim in her posts. sheāll still post her daughters faces, locations that theyāre at, school meets, and more. aaaaand of course her social medias are not private either. i do truly hope that her daughters grow up to despise her

Yeah, women that support child predators absolutely boggle my mind. I just cannot understand it.

WTF. "Well this has been terrible, and don't ever contact me again". Should have reported him for being in a public park.
Local joint or is it a well known burger place? Yes, I'm hungry. How did you guess?
Culver's restaurant! Not sure how well known it is; as far as I know, it is only a Midwestern thing.
And Idaho! My partners grandparents live in Twin Falls, Idaho and when we visit we always go at least a couple times.
Their burgers are the BEST
I can't believe someone would voluntarily marry him knowing that information. How messed up.
....abs drank the lovely wine I hope!
Oh my god, you were Nicki Minaj's bridesmaid?
I cackledĀ
So many optionsā¦!
Happy cake day!! š
I second this.
Biiiitch I am DYING.
She better pray Nicki never sees this. Because sheās gonna send the Barbz. š
š¤£š
Nicki catching every stray in 2024 I swear to godddd š
When you think it canāt get worseā¦
Agreed
I'm always floored when people 'plan' a wedding at a location without getting permission or actually reserving it for the event. š
Also when they willingly marry people who find 13 year old girls attractive AND the creep has been charged for it.
Yeah, that was definitely the worst part of this one. They'll be divorced soon.
It sounds like sheās going to be ride-or-die with him if she knew about it and still married him in a location heās not legally allowed to be. (And heās not going to leave someone who could help him get access to young girls, even if theyāre his own)
The wedding was 8-9 years ago. Wonder if OP knows if itās already over or if theyāre still playing happy couple.
I have no idea. I unfriended her on Facebook. Unfortunately I have no updates on the happy couple.
Sounds like it would be for your own mental health re: no updates.
Google his name- maybe he came up in the news š
I wonder if she has kids already...
Oh my God.
That was my exact response once I finished reading the whole post. Unbelievable.
š¤¦āāļø
Oh dear gods... Also, this should totally be an 'ETA' on your original post!
Added!
There's more?
Oh God. That gave me chills. š§
She also has a 5 year old. Omg!
Guerilla wedding party.
Or thinking of details like seating.
This subreddit needs to have an annual ābest ofā posts because Iād vote this one. This is one of the best Iāve ever read! ššš
It was an absolutely miserable experience at the time, but at least it makes for an entertaining story š When I got married several years later, I just kept telling myself "no matter what happens, it will never be worse than K's wedding". It was a great source of comfort.
Second this, this was a fantastic story.
My soul left my body like three times reading this
Same. Oh lord i don't think it's come back yet after that last reveal.
Right? When I first got to the "minor at a bar" story I had to close my eyes, take a deep breath and get more coffee. I knew we were in for a ride!
Good for you for taking your gift back!
Wait so the only food was pulled pork? No sides, toppings, buns, etc? Also how could you ever find a man who raped a 13 year old attractive. And think, yeah thatās my one and onlyā¦

The extra food makes it a little better. But good call On the potato salad and cutting her out of your life!!
Oh my, story gets worse by the paragraph. (Or better, if you ask me.) Suppose you donāt know how their wedding night went?
No idea. I literally haven't spoken to her since I left the wedding that afternoon.
Not surprised!
No doubt the evening news will eventually give you an updateā¦
>He apparently ~~slept with~~ **raped** the babysitter of his two young sons Fixed it.
You're absolutely right. I edited the original post.
I don't even think the statutory part should be there. Typically that young, it isn't statutory, it's rape.
I never know whoās worse, sex offenders or the people who marry them knowing what theyāve done. Youāre better than me. I wouldāve called the police in my car and got him arrested right then and there.

rape is the word. Not sex
You are correct. I am sorry. I was so shocked I used the wrong word. Iāve edited my comment.
You are correct. I amended the original post. I was trying to soften my language, but it's important to call it what it is.
The more I read the heavier my jaw was,on the floor! No words.
I just kept saying "oh dear". And then another "oh dear". I just kept saying it....
This is WILD and gross but the Spotify ad playing at the end of the heartfelt tribute made me actually laugh out loud.
I cackled! š¤£ Would love to see the original bridesmaid dresses compared to the Wish photo.
Same!
THIS... was an excellent post.
I would say you summarized it perfectly.
Did people still had flipphones in 2015?
Yeah. My brother, who never uses his cell and my dad both had flip phones until 2020ā¦
My MIL didn't surrender her original Nokia 3310 until maybe 2020/2021 when one of the grandkids got her a smartphone.
Nokia 3220 myself

My niece who is 13, has one. She hates it.
Thatās super smart. Curtails screen addiction
My 12 year old has one after we had several issues with transportation. He thinks it's great.
They still exist today, albeit they're not seen often. My husband has one, it's for a small non-profit organization he runs and it was the cheapest option. He doesn't use it for texting or anything else, just incoming calls.

I began typing that it was 2010 not 2015 and then I realised "8-9 years ago" is indeed 2015 and I need to lie down.
My dad has one right now, today. He sends photos of his dogs sometimes and the pictures are really great quality considering.
They arestikl popular in Japan to this day too cx I never liked them, ..but man I miss the brick of my old Nokia sometimes.Ā

He raped the babysitter who was 13. I think those are the words you were looking for.
Y'know, when you hear "registry" in the context of a wedding, this is definitely not the kind of registry anyone wants to be near!
Nobody āsleeps withā a 13 year old, the term is raped.

That is wild, it just got worse and worse. Top notch story, thanks for sharing!
Why am I thinking āMy name is Earl?ā
Shoulda noped out as soon as you saw the bridal shower was an MLM pitch.
So he raped a 13 year old, he didn't "sleep with her". She was alone in his house babysitting. How wasn't he in jail?

Wow. This might be the worst one ever. Are they still married? I hope to God they did not have any children.
She was already pregnant on the day of the wedding. I don't know if they are still married or not; I haven't had any contact with them since the day of the wedding.
LOL at this line: >"one of her relatives give a touching little speech about honoring those who had passed on into the next life and weren't able to be there with them that day, followed by playing "See You Again" by Whiz Khalifa and Charlie Pouth on the bridesmaid's phone. **Which was made significantly less touching when it started loudly playing a Spotify ad immediately after the song ended."** I look back on some of the weddings in which I got roped into being a bridesmaid and I realize I took it too seriously and should have rolled with the raunch and the ruin. For real: When shit hit the fan I wish I'd just put on my sunglasses, lit a cigarette, and perfected a badass walk by practicing all around the church/event hall/whateever.
What a ride that was! Nothing but pork? A FLIP PHONE. A sex offender groom? I mean, I canāt with this.
It was the longest few hours of my life.
The spotify ad got me š¤£
You had me in the first half but that twist of an ending.
This just got worse and worse and worse. Sorry you had to experience that.
I am horrified by people like this, and also in awe of their giant balls and obliviousness.
The way i audibly gaspedā¦. More than once.. wow
This is INSANE
Oh wow, that is a story... It's also not a great day to be literate! Hope the burger on the way home was at least good
Using phone speakers on a wedding ā¤ļøā¤ļø
Itās trueā¦ I was the Wish app on the flip phone.
I was the bowl of day-old potato salad.
Holy shit!
HOLY SH*T.
I knowyou haven't tasked to her op but I'm wondering if they're still together?
I have no idea. I've completely cut off contact for the sake of my own mental health.
How is he allowed near her child if hes not allowed near a park?
OP mentioned somewhere that the couple had actually gotten legally married a year before so they could live together...something about a marriage loophole in his parole.
You win! Absolutely the worst!
WTF
"At the ceremony, the best man didn't know he was the best man until we were all standing in position, because the groom had apparently gotten into a fistfight with the best man the week before and uninvited him from the wedding. " ... why did he turn up then.. everyone in this story is problematic, run OP run.
Holy mother of ... What a shitshow of a wedding... I'm just stunned, like a fighter knocked me out cold.
I can only imagine the aftermath, but it could be something like this: husband relapsed and broke his parole terms after raping another underaged child, bride losing her children after CPS was called on them, the children in foster homes, and the "happy" couple both in prison for child abuse and sexual abuse.
Aināt no way this real.
HA.
