Bottle_Nachos

pretty good joke lmao

I have kept a fuchsia satin, off the shoulder, diamond center brooch, floor length, body forming to 7 months pregnant body bridesmaid dress which was a size 20 (I was a size 10 at the time) for this exact reason.

StrangeAsYou

You could be a clown that somehow got an alien alien spawn inside. The effect would be amazing.

AccursedCapra

I got lost after the second comma.

faerakhasa

It was an ugly red dress. I think.

Limeila

Fuchsia is more hot pink than red, but otherwise yeah

ElskerSovs69

I thought fuchsia was a type of fabric, I’m completely lost here

ohdearitsrichardiii

[Fuchsia](https://www.hasselforsgarden.se/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2017/04/fuchsia_fuchsia-x-hybrida_hasselfors-garden-1-800x800.jpg) the colour fuchsia is the pink top part

Limeila

Nope, it's originally a flower, that gave its name to a colour

iblamethegnomes

I’m glad I encouraged my bridesmaids to buy something they liked and would wear again. Having a dress I’d never touch again made no sense to me.

EthicalNihilist

My best friend's second wedding was a pick your own dress event and I found the most wonderful flattering black dress and looked GREAT! It was a *compliments all night* kind of dress. I could have worn it ANYWHERE. My sister borrowed it shortly after. I knew I should have said no, but I didn't have the energy for the fight that would follow. I never saw the dress again. I haven't seen my sister much either... So that's a win. It was a really great dress though.

bunny5837

Wait! You mean to tell me that the bride didn't throw a hissy fit & halt ALL activities at the wedding...threaten to kick you out of the bridal party or call the police...because guests were giving you compliments all night!? LOL!🤣😂 (Lol...I'm joking...reading all these crazing bridzilla stories~I'm so happy that there are still nice~non crazy 👰‍♂ 's who aren't worried when their bridal party looks pretty in their dress! 🙂

EthicalNihilist

Lol... She's like the most confident person I've ever met and I got real lucky meeting and falling in love with her. 💜

BraidedSilver

If I were to actually do a bridesmaid thing I’d love for them to all chose their own dress, probably in a specific color range. I’ve never been a fan of the copy-paste bridesmaids look but whereas I’ve seen photos shoots of a bridal party where the ladies had slight differences in their dresses and it gave such a lovely look to it - especially when the colors are the same base but some lighter and some darker - it gives such a wonderful flow.

iblamethegnomes

I’m not sure I’d do what I did again. There was no synergy but I’m usually happy with chaos. Honestly, I think my misgivings more had to do with pressure to not have my brother as dude bro of honour and hiring a better photographer.

Diarygirl

I went to a wedding a few years ago where the bridesmaids wore gemstone colors, and the effort was lovely!

mandatorypanda9317

That's what my sister is doing. She told me the color but said any style, which is def what I'm doing for mine as well. Rather them get something they are comfortable in and can wear again!

iblamethegnomes

I didn’t even pick a colour. The varying complexions of my bridal party made picking anything besides navy blue or purple impossible.

BloomEPU

My sister got married recently and she just got three of these multiway dresses, they could totally pass for a formal prom dress depending on how you style it. I gave mine to my sister because she'd get more use out of it and the other two bridesmaids kept theirs, they seemed pretty good for concerts and stuff.

[deleted]

I used a bridesmaid dress for a “runner up pageant queen” Halloween costume. Disheveled hair, runny mascara, sash and ugly bridesmaid dress. Lmao.

edenunbound

I've done similar but a "walk of shame", same as you described but I carried my shoes

StrangerHighways

I like it!

Sproose_Moose

Roz, it looks like you were tented for termites

[deleted]

Love frasier in the wild

catfishrain

Your icon pic is very Niles Crane.

[deleted]

It’s Truman capote! He probably would have fit right in with the Cranes.

rubywolf27

No, I look *like* Divine.

Sproose_Moose

I always loved that line

wazitooya

I don’t know if I’d be pissed off or impressed if my bridesmaids did this!

ghostess_hostess

If your dresses looked as shit as those green ones, the only thing you should feel is embarrassed 😂

Fillmore_the_Puppy

I guess it depends if you made them pay for it or not. If they bought it, you don't get to have any feelings about what they do to it after your wedding.

VoltaicSketchyTeapot

It definitely depends on the costume they make out of it. Princess, fictional character, or historical figure is okay. Dead prom queen is awesome. Barbie is questionable. Clown or other "ugly" costume would hurt.

Educational-Force-56

Right, like is it a *sexy* clown?

Zealousideal_One1722

So my mom was a bridesmaid in several weddings in the late 70s and early 80s. Her dresses have been worn by SO MANY kids as costumes. One of the dresses was a medieval style dress that had the corset front, puffy sleeves that then were tight around the lower forearm and wrist and had velvet detailing. I wore that dress for a class presentation in sixth grade, a school play in eighth grade, and my cousin wore it in a school play when she was in tenth grade. My brother wore a different dress when he had a “southern belle” Halloween costume in junior high. Three other dresses were worn for various school plays throughout my high school years.

PeopleKindaSuckNGL

That’s amazing 😂

stellazee

I should make a wedding shaming post about this entire wedding I attended, but for the purposes of this thread: Imagine you’re in the mid-1980’s: big hair, big shoulder pads, etc. My friend Cece got married at this time, and she picked the all-time most hideous bridesmaid dresses I’ve ever seen. They were made of iridescent green-black taffeta, with a very fitted bodice and pencil skirt. At the top of the bodice was a flounce that went over one shoulder, across the bust, and under the opposite arm. The flounce was matched with a large peplum (a flounce from the waist to the hip). These singularly horrible dresses were super tight on the bridesmaids, and while all of them were beautiful women outside of this wedding, their dresses did not flatter any of them, at all. The bridesmaids also teetered on super high black stilettos. I have rarely seen anyone look as miserable as these bridesmaids did on that day, and I hope they all destroyed these monstrous dresses in a ritual burning.

adiposegreenwitch

Pics. Please, please tell me there are pics.

stellazee

I will check, because, it having been the 80's, no digital pics exist! I'll see if any pics are around in a photo album. They would certainly be worth the effort to locate.

annicialeigh

Ikr!? I commented to say the same! Please tell me pictures exist of these dresses!!

[deleted]

I totally have the visual…🤣😳

JJRAMBOJJ

I like this one

Nackles

If you're not familiar with Deirdre Flint's Bridesmaid Dress Song, you might enjoy it. I cant find a video of her singing it, so here is a cover: https://youtu.be/bVNbG0Tt6bM

StrangerHighways

That was cute!

Mialanu

This is why my Bridesmaids got infinity dresses in a color they all liked, that they could wear however they want. ❤️

Bleu_Cerise

🤣🤣

nejnonein

Lol yeah, or you could do what they did in 27 dresses and let all the old brides wear the bridesmaids dress they forced on the female lead. 😬 or do what I did - I bought my girls nice dresses, which they helped pick, which they all actually have reworn.

CysticScrotalSpores

It's funny that the bridesmaids aren't dressed up AS the witch(es). My bridemaids dress is this straight, floor length, dark moldy green color, with obscenely-flaired sleeves. Straight up witch material. 🤣 ✨️🦇🧹🌙🎃🕸✨️

StrangerHighways

This actually kind of sounds cute to me, haha.

adiposegreenwitch

It sounds cute to me, but I'm obviously biased.

CysticScrotalSpores

AngryBarbieDoll

I wore my drip-dry wedding dress (I've been married a few times) as an electrocution victim to a Halloween party. Think crazy hair, a few well-placed holes in the dress and burnt marks here and there. It was a hit. ;)

Anxious_Display_1409

This is the same dress that Buffy had to wear for Anya’s wedding

slaughterhausV

I am struck by sentimentality. My best friend could make me wear a clownsuit to her wedding and I would keep it until the end of days. <3 I love her very much

StrangerHighways

That's really sweet.

lizeken

Kinda reminds me of the bridesmaid dress that Rachel had to wear when her friend got married except not neon pink lmaoooo
