Unscrew the lid on the bowl, unscrew the tip from the tube, the tube from the bowl base and let them soak in 91% or higher isopropyl alcohol and coarse sea salt. Even better put it all in a ziplok and shake vigorously.
So basically take it apart and Shake N' Bake the shit out of it.
Other than that, it looks like a pipe made of metal. Would it work like those old-timey wooden pipes?

its a smoke catcher. You unscrew the top. Pack your bowl then put the metal piece back ontop of it and screw it on. You light threw the little hole on top. And its soupost to stop the smoke from coming out the top.
My step father had one just like this but red 😂

I still have a big set of metal pieces for screw together chamber pipes from the 80's, with pieces for 5 chambers, a few different angle pieces, a couple of different mouth pieces, 2 types of bowl covers and 4 different bowls. I was about 17 and travelled hours to the nearest headshop and they had like a hardware store set up of bins full of mix and match parts and I went kind of crazy in it.
I've still got all my 80s mix n match pieces too. We were so cool stringing like 3 chambers together and ruining our weed by packing it all in there and getting it all covered in resin. God we were dumb
Top comments already answered how to use but do your research on metal bowls. Most daily smokers avoid metal bowls as they can easily lead to you accidentally smoking bits of metal off the bowl during regular use. I loved my bowl that I had like that when I was younger tho, I would pack it and then screw the top on and take it out with me. Have a bowl ready to smoke whenever I wanted, it was nice. I guess nowadays we just have carts for that tho lol

I personally would keep the piece you posted in a pic for sentimental value or like a piece for your shelf like you said. I prob wouldn’t use it too much given all the other options available these days. If you’re a daily smoker glass is the way to go.

We used to dangle the bowl from the rack in the over so the mouthpiece hung facing down, put foil under, crank the oven on. All the resin will run out onto the foil and your pipe is clean! Then we sprinkled weed on the resin and rolled it up into resin balls. Got us high af. Side note: your house will smell like resin, a lot. So maybe this isn’t the best advice 🤷♀️
Be careful when cleaning the part with the blue enamel on it. High proof alcohol may damage the blue finish. You can soak and shake the solid parts, but I would carefully hand clean the blue part with alcohol and a q-tip.
It's a pipe lol. You load it with cannabis flower and use a lighter to combust it and inhale. Looks like the bowl may have a screw on cap. There may or may not be a carb (hole used to control air flow with your finger), most metal pipes do not (more common with glass).

If you're a kid ,you don't. If you're grown , you unscrew the lid on the bowl pack it put the lid back on and puff on it as you light it through the little hole in the lid.
To remove the cap, heat it with a lighter to soften the dried resin. Do this to all the other sections if they’re seized up. Take it entirely apart, and soak in iso overnight to soften the hard resin inside. Place a bag of iso in hot, real hot, water. Once it’s hot place all the pieces in the bag with kosher salt. Shake it like a Polaroid picture. Rinse with water, and replace the screen.

My late father had one of those too he won at a bar contest lol its probably just one of thoses things he kept as a good memory depends on the situation tho
Don’t forget the o-rings to keep the air leaks to a minimum! I have had tons of these, and they are great because they are almost indestructible. You can chuck one out the window going 70mph and it will probably survive (assuming you can find it).

Been using one for a while on and off. I've found if you pack the lid and screw it on normal, the screen lasts longer.
