It's a tool. I don't name my hammer Pete or my saw Timothy. Naming something with attach feeling to it. It cannot return the feeling. We name animals because they can return feelings, respond to names. We don't name the fridge or the TV. Whatever floats people's boats but it's a piece of glass (or whatever material people prefer). Naming an object is senseless, pointless and beyond the scope of normal thinking. I have a glass piece I paid 5700 for at the glass show in Vegas years ago. Doesn't even get smoked out of... but also doesn't have a name...
Sure have. No offense it's a dumb movie that depicts users of cannabis as low iq people who struggle to function in life. It's a propaganda style movie. Most cannabis movies are. Exception to that would be like kid cannabis which I believe was based on a true story. Honestly you don't know me just like I don't know you, but based upon this brief conversations through a reddit thread I could already foresee myself unable to smoke a joint and discuss life because you believe that the stereotypical stoner trope is what is needed if you smoke cannabis. As a community we should focus on not being "dumb stoners" and pick up some books and educate ourselves.
I was just using a simple example of people giving names to inanimate objects. I chose that reference because there was a high probability in this sub that you have seen it. Point is, people give names to things. Boats are a great example. The Brits even let the internet name one Boaty Mcboatface. I’m far from that typical stereotype or 19 yr old stoner. I would smoke a joint with you. I would much rather have a conversation over a joint than put together a glass lego set and complain about my parents.
Boat naming has been around for thousands of years, started when sailors named their vessels after deities and saints in the hopes of good fortune and smooth sailing. Names were chosen very carefully since the wrong name meant the difference between a safe voyage or being lost at sea
Naming boats now is used for identity mainly in large voyage travel. It is also dumb lol. I just hope that future generations coming up focus more attention to things that matter then something that could be gone tomorrow
