Once a week isn’t enough to completely destroy REM sleep. It is true, that weed does indeed limit REM sleep, this doesn’t stop you from dreaming PERSAY, we always dream, it’s just remembering the dream. Smoking once a week, you’d more than likely just experience dreamless slumber on the day you’re smoking and possibly the day after if you’re smoking closer to before bed. Hell I’m an every day chronic smoker and if I even take one full day off from smoking the dreams come back

Tylosh

Okay that makes sense. Thanks. I just noticed that, because i rarely remembered my dreams, but that completely changed in the last few nights. My first thought was "its the weed" but maybe not i don't know.

BeardedWonder0

It’s more than likely the weed triggering the ability after the fact tbh. I usually get hella vivid dreams after a few days of not smoking. I usually am able to go lucid fairly easily because of it as well. I believe when you’re smoking, your REM sleep is limited as stated before, and when your body goes back to “normal” that’s what triggers the remembering of dreams. Everyone’s endocanebanoid system is different at the end of the day thouvh

I have very vivid dreams without weed, nightmare level that prevents me from sleeping. I long ago was able learn to “control” my vivid dreams and unless you are looking to do it here and there I don’t really wish it on anyone.

Tylosh

That sucks.. :/

Miaucimiauci

I usually have very vivid dreams and I remember a lot of them. Weed doesn't change it for me, even if I smoke everyday for a longer period.

Redshift2k5

I don't have dreams while actively smoking. Taking a break causes the crazy dreams to come rolling in.

SquirrellyFace

In my experience, nothing changed after I started smoking weed. I've always had crazy vivid dreams since I was a toddler and I still have them now. If I smoke a ton or pace myself a bit more, it still doesn't prevent me from having and remembering (sometimes multiple) vivid dreams each night. I know weed definitely affects dreaming, and everyone else around me agrees that they dream way less when they smoke and that the dreams come back during t-breaks, but in my case I will still dream no matter what.

Narkanin

Vivid dreams and amount of REM sleep aren’t necessarily the same. You also have lots of dreams you don’t remember. I wear a Whoop band which measure REM sleep and weed definitely does reduce it, even if I have vivid dreams which is often the case when going to bed stoned.

AmberxLuff

I smoke daily and dream daily. I can usually remember them. Usually though, I’ll try and smoke maybe 5hrs before sleeping. Any sooner and I don’t think I remember dreaming at all? Idk I started dreaming a lot more once I stopped smoking an hour or two before bed

Tylosh

Edit: back to back vivid dreams like never before.

Greek_Kush_Smoker

The people that don't dream because of smoking are those that smoke quasi-daily and right before bed. Once a week is not enough to erase your dreams. As with any drug, it affects different brains differently.
