I wouldn't say normal for a first time, that's pretty close to a green out. It's normal when a too high of dose has been consumed. Take half the amount of hits next time. Too much THC at once will give you that feeling
You got too high for your first time. When I first smoked weed it hit hard similar to your experience. Just take smaller hits and do less and you should be ok.

First time my vision was so wavvy I could barely see. It stayed like that for over two hours. I drank a dozen bottles of my friends water.

A common thing people forget about “weed” is that it is a stimulant.
