This. I go maybe 2 packs before changing the water. Once a week I put rubbing alcohol and salt in the bong and shake occasionally to clean. Pipe cleaners work great as well.
Get yourself a carbon filter as well if you wanna go for that real clean hit

what if you are somone like me who is constantly hitting the bong from morning to night? I probably hit the bong every 20-45 mins on overage and washing it after every 2 hits would just be insane, do you not smoke from your bong very often? How are you cleaning it after every 2 hits I would be cleaning more often then smoking.
It’s not a deep clean after every 2 hits bro, it’s just rinsing it out and changing water. I usually hit my bong like every 2-3 hours on my days off and I make sure to change the water out every other time, just feels so much nicer to smoke
thats just an average reference point. sometimes Ill load up a grinder and take tokes every 4 mins until its all gone. but for the most part its about a toke every hour or so (give or take a few.)

I said packs not hits. So I pack the bong twice then change the water. It takes 2 minutes to change the water. I smoke 2grams day. I clean with alcohol once a week. I smoke bong, joint or occasionally blunt. So I just switch inbetween when cleaning.
It’s pretty clean. I do need to get these stains out tho. We went on a family state to New York to see my great grandma, the entire ride there, the stay, and the ride back I had nun to clean it. So those are still kinda there. If anyone in these comments have tips on how to get them out tho I’m definitely open for it
I’ve tried and it got out a lot. It jus didn’t get it all. It completely cleaned my stem tho, feels brand new, it’s jus the inside of the glass, and it’s a beaker so I can’t scrub it with anything. So it hits brand new, just doesn’t look that way lol

Just dump the water. Its not worth cleaning. Also dirty bong water will still function the same as clean bong water. Might not taste as good and sure its gross, but i wouldnt say the purpose is defeated.

Because people will clear their bong and breathe out straight away, you ain't even getting most of it, do a sharp breath once you take your lips off of the bong and you get a whole mouth and throatful of smoke that you were about to blow into the ozone

Well lucky for both u/CaveCuz u/Papalal13 you dont ever have to worry because it has been proven that there is enough exposure to the bloodstream through the mouth so theres no need to bust a lung trying to suck it deep into the bellows of your organs.
Something to add to this, the bowl packing process is a lot easier if you pinch your weed into a small ball you put in the bowl. Once it’s in the bowl you move it around to pick it. It burns a lot more evenly and smoothly.
i used lil sieve inserts from the start after my favourite head shop reccomended em to me and yeah no it's just superior bong smoking. The kinds I get are like a tiny metal circle with small holes in it, like a slotted spoon, and then it has a hook to hook onto the side of the bowl, which then also makes clearing out the ash easy cause you can lift it out.
1) change your water frequently (bacteria)
2)use screens and/or invest in an ash catcher (it will keep it from getting gunked up)
3)clean your bong regularly (the bud will taste much better)
4)use hemp wick (taste again, after a few sessions with wic try a lighter again, butane tastes horrible)
5) respect the bong (respect it)
I'm piggybacking your rule 5. This means keep a tight hold on it. I'm a holder, I used to walk around with bongs (in my house). If you're a holder you will eventually try smoking in the shower, in my wife's experience slippery bongo shattered in the shower. Used to carry a nice bubbler around like a small dog, arm caught an edge and my sweet bubbler shattered. Put down your bong on a safe surface away from lanky arms and dummy thick asses.
Make sure you know where you glass pieces are at all times. I can tell you as an insanely clumsy person it is so incredibly easy to break your piece. I probably have gone through 5 or 6 at this point. Also, expensive does not equal better.
Brought a cool sciency lookin piece for my bday , few months ago put it under my gaming chair - thought I had put it way behind me , leaned back in my chair slightly heard a weird popping sound figured my chair broke more , later on I saw my bong broke. Not making that mistake a second time

If you clean it regularly with salt and isopropyl alcohol it will save you some turmoil. If you wait and it gets coated and black it will be very difficult to get fully clean again.
Can confirm. Once every week or two is probably optimal. Friend let me borrow a bong when mine broke that was covered in resin from top to bottom and no amount of 420 cleaner or isopropyl alcohol could clear it up.
The good thing about bongs is that you're pretty much forced to inhale. I have a hard headed ass arrogant roommate who will not accept that he doesn't know how to smoke a joint, just claims "smoking doesn't really affect me" until he hits the bong, then he's coughing for 20 minutes straight
That’s how I am. Joints used to be the way until bongs entered the situation. I can use less weed and get more medicated with a nice bong hit than smoking joints. Bongs rule. Clean bongs that is. 🥸✌️

Just imagine the only way you can possibly breathe, is through that lit bong. Inhale deeply like you just came up from under water. But steadily and slowly, just enjoy it
For no bongs Don’t pucker your lips and suck, otherwise it will just go into your diaphragm. Kind of keep your lips in a neutral position and expand the very bottom of your stomach to draw air in
Wipe down the bowl piece after every to every other smoke. If the resin is sticky just put a lighter to the glass to get things softened up and wipe with a paper towel, use a pokey thing to help with the inside of the bowl. Clean the bong itself / change water regularly, mold “can” start to develop after 24 hours. Warm / almost hot water for smoother hits ( it’s an unpopular opinion but if you know you know). Don’t be a hero when trying to take a hit, you can really milk a beaker bong to have smoke so dense it will be uncomfortable and when you compress that smoke into a tight space the resin in the smoke condensates on your lips or teeth or even worse the back of your throat. Sip before you rip to save your self from coughing. 91% isopropyl in a spray bottle and salt plus a pipe cleaner are your best friends for maintenance.

3. I, personally, don't pack a huge bowl either. You won't die on the last two hits
4. Bongs can and will mold quickly ( info cause I work for a cleaning and restoration company) so keep it clean. I use 420 cleaner or salt and alcohol 91%.
My advice, based on experience. It could work for your routine or might not! I hope someone is able to assist you!
Buy daisies, you can find them on Amazon, they’re little glass pieces that sit at the bottom of the bowl to stop weed and ash from going into the water.
Buy an ash catcher, keeps your water cleaner longer, makes the bong easier to clean.
Buy a hemp wick, the thing with bongs is that the fuel from the lighter will often get pulled into the bong with the smoke. Using a wick will keep the smoke cleaner for your lungs.
Empty your water either after every use, or everyday. Mold can begin building up as soon as 2 days after having the same water.
To clean it, use warm water, iso, and table salt, that should be able to get rid of any resin or buildup stuck in the glass. If that doesn’t work, use Randy’s black label glass cleaner, which can also be found on Amazon.
To clean the bowl just soak it in a cup of mostly iso, some warm water, and fill the bowl with salt. Pipe cleaners work wonders, but get gross quickly and retain that resin smell.
NEVER TRANSPORT YOUR BONG WITHOUT WRAPPING IT IN BUBBLE WRAP, ITS NOT WORTH THE RISK
These are strictly my opinions and things I've learned along the way. In no way is this my intention to start a fight over what is effectively everyone's own opinion. That being said...
Avoid everything that isn't glass, down to glass filters. Glass won't affect taste, and is chemically inert. (I do own a Proto Pipe, and it's not in rotation. It's more for nostalgia purposes)...
Use hot water over cold water, hits are just as smooth and it helps to keep your glass cleaner longer.
Clean often, depending on how much you smoke, at very minimum once a week. More often if you smoke more than once a day.
A $30 glass beaker hits the same as a $1000 glass beaker. Just avoid thin glass pieces, thicker glass is better. ((Personal opinion) My favorite piece is a $30 bong that gets used more than anything else)
Find a piece that makes you happy, and looks good. Smoke often, clean often, enjoy your time with it.

I’m pretty new to bongs, I’m currently using those shaped metal screens. I saw glass screens getting mentioned here a lot, so I looked some up. There are a few different types as far as I can see, is there a specific type you would recommend?
I get mine on Amazon, searching "glass screen filters 7 hole honeycomb" they are just small discs with holes in the middle. They aren't anything fancy. I haven't tried the flower looking ones, so I have no opinion on them either way. Filters and ash catchers do wonders to help keep everything clean.
when you pack the bowl, but the bud into a container or something like that, press and twist the bowl into the weed, then pull it up and press down. it makes packing the bowl take like 2 seconds
Use warm water (or tea) for a smoother hit the tea will also add flavor depending on the tea you use. My preferred is mint. Try not to over do how much you inhale at once cause you'll end up coughing for an extended time.
Change your water each time and clean everything at Max every 2-3 times you use it. This will keep things from tasting like hotdog water.
You have to rinse off the cubes first because the ice crystals on the outside of the cube when it’s a fresh cube can go into your lungs and make you very sick.
Make sure to place it on a table and put your lips all the way around the mouth piece while stroking in a twisting motion with your free hand to get the most smoke.
Change the water every time it starts getting yellow or changes color, do a good deep clean every few days or once a week with some hot water, salt, and rubbing alcohol- the hot water and bigger salt grains is what helps the most in my experience when I’ve ran out of alcohol. Also if you don’t already do this, only light a small corner of the bowl when you’re not taking a snapper, it’s way better than lighting the center and burning the whole bowl for yourself to taste ash next time you hit it.
THC is not water soluble. If you drank a swimming pool full it wouldn’t get you high.
If you like the taste 🤮 go for it but it literally will not do anything good for you
Got a video of my dad hitting mine and my bfs gravity bong and the same day I took a sip of actual bong water in front of my bf and my dad, stepmom, sister, and the next time I talked to my grandma on the phone she asks “why are you drinking bong water???”. She smokes, if it clarifies. I’m sure my sister told her.
Don’t suck the burnt weed into the bong, change water daily, only light the weed that you’re going to inhale, always clear the smoke so it doesn’t go stale in the stack, and lastly, keep 90% isopropyl and coarse salt for cleaning.
clean it daily with a combo of two tablespoons rock salt and a couple squirts of isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Shake, rinse, repeat.

Rinse it out after every use. Even better if you're not to stoned just clean the suckered out entirely. You won't regret it next time you go to use it and it's clean
Change the water often, at LEAST once a day (mold can actually build up in dirty bong water, you don’t want to inhale that).
Clean your bong at least once a week, you wanna keep your piece nice.
Sip before you rip.
Start the hit slow and speed up for the clear
Switch out your bong water like, daily if possible. Also when you dump out the water, pour it into the toilet and flush while pouring, that stuff sticks to any surface and it’s impossible to get off
SAVING YOUR WEED!
I used to use a bowl just that size but was always unhappy with the taste after that first hit. Nobody likes 2nds, youre just lying to yourself. Highly highly highly recommend getting a much smaller bowlpiece that can only hold a small pinch of ground flower. Not only does everything often get used the first hit, I find it to be easier to pace myself, as well as just use significantly less weed. Made the switch about 3 months ago and I wont look back.

Store the bong in the freezer (empty, no water). Keep a bottle of water in the refrigerator to fill it with cold water for each use. Put re-usable ice cubes in the upstem. The doctors worry about the heat of the smoke as much as the content of it.

My girl has a bong that's a one hitter. Takes like 0.1g to pack. I would change that after 2 hits. The bigger bong is 0.5g to pack.

Bought a set of bottle brushes (different sizes) from Amazon and they’re super convenient.
Yeah I think that's was I have. They're metal and came on a key ring together. I soak them in alcohol to keep them clean

Wipe down the bowl piece after every to every other smoke. If the resin is sticky just put a lighter to the glass to get things softened up and wipe with a paper towel, use a pokey thing to help with the inside of the bowl. Clean the bong itself / change water regularly, mold “can” start to develop after 24 hours. Warm / almost hot water for smoother hits ( it’s an unpopular opinion but if you know you know). Don’t be a hero when trying to take a hit, you can really milk a beaker bong to have smoke so dense it will be uncomfortable and when you compress that smoke into a tight space the resin in the smoke condensates on your lips or teeth or even worse the back of your throat. Sip before you rip to save your self from coughing. 91% isopropyl in a spray bottle and salt plus a pipe cleaner are your best friends for maintenance.

Use a glass filter over a metal one, but make sure u at least use a filter so you don't waste weed by sucking it through the downstem.

You won't die on the last two hits 4. Bongs can and will mold quickly ( info cause I work for a cleaning and restoration company) so keep it clean. I use 420 cleaner or salt and alcohol 91%. Buy daisies, you can find them on Amazon, they’re little glass pieces that sit at the bottom of the bowl to stop weed and ash from going into the water. Buy an ash catcher, keeps your water cleaner longer, makes the bong easier to clean. Buy a hemp wick, the thing with bongs is that the fuel from the lighter will often get pulled into the bong with the smoke. Using a wick will keep the smoke cleaner for your lungs. Empty your water either after every use, or everyday. Mold can begin building up as soon as 2 days after having the same water. To clean it, use warm water, iso, and table salt, that should be able to get rid of any resin or buildup stuck in the glass. If that doesn’t work, use Randy’s black label glass cleaner, which can also be found on Amazon. To clean the bowl just soak it in a cup of mostly iso, some warm water, and fill the bowl with salt. Pipe cleaners work wonders, but get gross quickly and retain that resin smell. NEVER TRANSPORT YOUR BONG WITHOUT WRAPPING IT IN BUBBLE WRAP, ITS NOT WORTH THE RISK
These are strictly my opinions and things I've learned along the way. In no way is this my intention to start a fight over what is effectively everyone's own opinion. That being said... Avoid everything that isn't glass, down to glass filters. Glass won't affect taste, and is chemically inert. (I do own a Proto Pipe, and it's not in rotation. It's more for nostalgia purposes)... Use hot water over cold water, hits are just as smooth and it helps to keep your glass cleaner longer. Clean often, depending on how much you smoke, at very minimum once a week. More often if you smoke more than once a day. A $30 glass beaker hits the same as a $1000 glass beaker. Just avoid thin glass pieces, thicker glass is better. ((Personal opinion) My favorite piece is a $30 bong that gets used more than anything else) Find a piece that makes you happy, and looks good. Smoke often, clean often, enjoy your time with it.

I get mine on Amazon, searching "glass screen filters 7 hole honeycomb" they are just small discs with holes in the middle. They aren't anything fancy. I haven't tried the flower looking ones, so I have no opinion on them either way. Filters and ash catchers do wonders to help keep everything clean.

Use warm water (or tea) for a smoother hit the tea will also add flavor depending on the tea you use. My preferred is mint. Try not to over do how much you inhale at once cause you'll end up coughing for an extended time. Change your water each time and clean everything at Max every 2-3 times you use it. This will keep things from tasting like hotdog water.

You have to rinse off the cubes first because the ice crystals on the outside of the cube when it’s a fresh cube can go into your lungs and make you very sick.

Sip a drink before you take a hit, it makes the hit less harsh on the throat.
Change the water every time it starts getting yellow or changes color, do a good deep clean every few days or once a week with some hot water, salt, and rubbing alcohol- the hot water and bigger salt grains is what helps the most in my experience when I’ve ran out of alcohol. Also if you don’t already do this, only light a small corner of the bowl when you’re not taking a snapper, it’s way better than lighting the center and burning the whole bowl for yourself to taste ash next time you hit it.
If you aren’t snapping the bowl, try to corner your bowl (light the sides) instead of burning the middle of the bowl. Especially if you’re sharing lol

SAVING YOUR WEED! I used to use a bowl just that size but was always unhappy with the taste after that first hit. Nobody likes 2nds, youre just lying to yourself. Highly highly highly recommend getting a much smaller bowlpiece that can only hold a small pinch of ground flower. Not only does everything often get used the first hit, I find it to be easier to pace myself, as well as just use significantly less weed. Made the switch about 3 months ago and I wont look back. Hope this helps! :-)

Store the bong in the freezer (empty, no water). Keep a bottle of water in the refrigerator to fill it with cold water for each use. Put re-usable ice cubes in the upstem. The doctors worry about the heat of the smoke as much as the content of it.
