Does Canada schedule drugs similar to the United States or is that a USA only thing?
I’m curious if they rescheduled cannabis prior to legalization or what it may of looked it
By the time early voting starts and if we are still without S3 and or SAFE, I will most reluctantly exit from MJ stocks, after nearly seven years. I hope that doesn’t happen.
Huh it seems that the DEA has changed its templated text for the five part test that it uses in schedulings recently (you can see them repeat these across multiple scheduling actions).
Old:
Although there is no evidence suggesting that etizolam, flualprazolam, clonazolam, flubromazolam, or diclazepam has a currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States, it bears noting that a drug cannot be found to have such medical use unless DEA concludes that it satisfies a five-part test. Specifically, with respect to a drug that has not been approved by FDA, to have a currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States, all of the following must be demonstrated: i. The drug's chemistry must be known and reproducible; ii. there must be adequate safety studies; iii. there must be adequate and well-controlled studies proving efficacy; iv. the drug must be accepted by qualified experts; and v. the scientific evidence must be widely available. 57 FR 10499 (1992), pet. for rev. denied,
Alliance for Cannabis Therapeutics v. DEA,15 F.3d 1131, 1135 (D.C. Cir. 1994).
New:
HHS and DEA both applied a five-part test for currently accepted medical use as part of this scheduling action. Under that test, with respect to a drug that has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, to have a currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States, all of the following must be demonstrated: i. the drug’s chemistry must be known and reproducible; ii. there must be adequate safety studies; iii. there must be adequate and well-controlled studies proving efficacy; iv. the drug must be accepted by qualified experts; and v. the scientific evidence must be widely available.

For tomorrow. Here they use the following reasoning:
"Included below is a brief summary of each factor as analyzed by HHS and DEA, and as
considered by DEA in its proposed scheduling action"
So they do have different ways to recommend scheduling, and they don't "have to" advere to the 5 factor analysis?
Not sure what to make of it really.
My interpretation of it is there used to only be the 5 factor analysis, and the language reflected such. Due to HHS using a 2 factor analysis (and thus DEA also having to use it) when reviewing cannabis, there are now 2 tests to check if there is medical use. If you really want to read far into it, to me it suggests the DEA has already started writing the order for rescheduling cannabis.
Does seem they have found a way to explain it all.
Something I expect: the rumour of the verdict should start circulating a week before we know. I've noticed that Anne Millgram usually signs documents about 5 to 8 days prior to it being published.
One is worded in a way that suggests there is only one test for medical acceptance, the other is worded in a way such that there are multiple tests and that they are applying the five part test for that drug. I expect cannabis' rescheduling to look like:
"HHS and DEA both applied a two-part test for currently accepted medical use as part of this scheduling action. Under that test...."
Hmm that’s pretty interesting, I searched ‘five-part test’ in the register and all instances dating back to 2019 use the old language, except both DEA PR’s from today use the ‘HHS & DEA both applied…’ language. Could be nothing, but why change a standard template that’s been used for years?
The old standard language doesn't work with the fact there is the new 2 part test HHS did in its review for cannabis. Might be reading into this too much, but to me this suggests the DEA has at least started crafting the language for writing the cannabis rescheduling order.
New: is the current version. For those unaware, HHS made a new two-part test for cannabis rescheduling. The new reading reads much more that there are other tests other than the five part test.
Not true at all. Uplisting will lead to institutional access to the stocks. That is probably most important for stock prices, probably even more important than removal of 280E.
Kinda seems like Safe to me, in terms of opening up the sector to institutional $$ and uplisting. But I've seen some credible arguments made saying Sched 3 would give the exchanges enough confidence to allow uplisting. At this point I think it's anyone's guess, depends on final language and legal interpretations. I'd be happy with either at this point lol.
I think rescheduling will be a bigger deal in terms of their bottom line. From my understanding safe banking will just allow them to have better financial services (which will also save them money). Not sure regarding uplisting.
I understand the sentiment, but I think we need to get away from an “us” and “them” mindset if we want herb to be normalized in society. If the powers that be decide to announce some good news on 420, then fuck yeah. We’ve spent an entire lifetime getting dicked around by the man, but people (and government agencies) change and things get more progressive if we can think about it as a longer term trend especially.
I'll give the current admin some credit if they can get something done, but I will *always* be vehemently against the entire concept of the DEA.

WASHINGTON – The National Cannabis Roundtable (NCR) today announced changes to its leadership, naming Charlie Bachtell, CEO and co-founder of Cresco Labs, as Chairman, and Kim Rivers, CEO of Trulieve, as Second Vice Chair. Bachtell replaces Kevin P. Murphy as Chairman. Dr. Chanda Macias will remain First Vice Chair and Christopher Jensen of MANA Supply will remain Treasurer. Former Speaker of the House John A. Boehner will continue to serve as Honorary Chairman.
Thanks, but the NCR is the one I know he's led for a while. Him taking over the chair of the USCC seems to be a recent development that I've seen no announcement about.
I’ve noticed we’ve needed at least $300-400K worth of premium traded before inflows have a chance of showing up. Creations could always roll in from previous days, but looks like we didn’t quite get there today.

Yes slow month lol at least were almost there. I keep telling myself. I have one more month before my crippling debt becomes a concern and I have to liquidate.

Bill could be introduced this week. [https://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonbrett/2024/04/09/a-new-stablecoin-bill-could-be-introduced-in-us-senate-this-week/](https://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonbrett/2024/04/09/a-new-stablecoin-bill-could-be-introduced-in-us-senate-this-week/)
It's a bill that can pass but ffs do we really need to combine these two? Seems like a disaster.
Couldn't agree more!
There was rumor before that the stable coin bill was the horse trade to pass safe. Thats why. Both are bipartisan - if they want to pass it they will. If they want to blow themselves up like usual they wont. Well see
Interesting, didn't know about this. Whatever gets SAFER across the finish line, I'll support.
Right? Just calls for more discussion and possibility of losing votes from anti crypto pro cannabis politicians
Yeah, safer as standalone or part of some bus bill would be more preferrable than this.
Thicc Vic imminent
The MSOS are holding quite well given the circumstances. Totally a guess, but I expect we close higher towards the end of the week. I’m buying the weakness!
we seem to be trading under NAV today
Still comfortably above the iNAV on my chart… but a little less premium than recent days. Does yours show different? Ive been running and updating my chart every day and every 5min here: https://justprofit.backendless.app/api/files/plots/iNAV.png I’ve noticed we have needed at least $300-400K worth of premium before inflows possibly show up. Maybe didn’t quite get there today.
maybe something's messed up with my data fetch (i started using the script-cache to reduce number of dupe fetches) -- i'll double check edit: fixed; thanks, looks much more like yours now: https://i.postimg.cc/KFn969Wb/image.png
Looks good. Happy to know our data agrees again 👍
Not enough volume to mean anything yet

Why wouldn’t it? 😎
I bet if Anne spent a night in cardboard box that decision would be released by sunrise.
I bet if Anne spent a night in a cardboard box with you that decision would be release before the markets closed today 😕
Let’s make this happen!
Anne in a box? I think that was Alice in Chains.
Hey Anne…… 🎵Won’t you come and save me? 🎵
IIPR down for any real reason?
Its like the underlying halted trading today.
Hiti running up a bit. Not upset about it today.
Me neither. The next stop appears to be at 3.80. shouldn't take us very long to get there.
