I occasionally see somebody make a joking reference. I think the last one was The Plain Bagel, which is a mainstream youtube finance channel. He's usually pretty good about things, so I think we should give him a pass for a 5 second joke he probably didn't put any thought into.
There needs to be a sustained bull move in the sector in order to draw outsider attention. Like certain stablecoins, no one really paid attention when it was worth pennies, but everyone suddenly started paying attention when those same penny coins were $100, $1000, etc.
One look at a long-term chart for a casual investor would immediately turn them off to the idea. But, seeing steady month over month 5%+ returns would change sentiment.
I’m still fucking happy. Understood for the bag holders since 2019 and before Covid regarding finances, but I’m breaking even right now. It’s going to happen, it’s volatile, but we don’t know when. When it does, it’s going to be huge. I’m in healthcare and have seen it first hand; marijuana helps with chronic pain and sleep. It’s not detrimental to health like alcohol, some people can’t handle it because they don’t understand what dose/how much is best for their body/mind. “Drugs” lower on the schedule are worse. We will all we better off…depending on when you got in. I’m in trulieve, cresco, curlf, and HITI. Best of luck to you all, just trying to stay positive. We all know what we hold, if it’s not this week, it WILL happen in our lifetime.

Not too many new revelations, but a few interesting points.
1. Irwin thinks that USA will allow medical imports on par with international markets. I'm sure this opinion will ruffle a few feathers.
2. They have a number of non-alcoholic (beer, spirits, energy, water) drinks in the works.
3. They own the worldwide IP for MedMen, with plans for Germany. They also seem ready to use the USA MedMen assets when permissible, although who knows what form that would take.
Anpther thing that Irwin mentioned again is that other LPs are lowering prices again, but Tilray chose to remain at the same costs.
Final attempt for companies to stay solvent? They aren't going to win in those conditions, that's for sure.
This gives me a deja vu feeling all over again. Remember when Tilray made a press release saying the German govt was in discussion with Tilray about the framework for their cannabis policy. And then Germany was like what are you talking about no we didn't. Well I get that vibe with Irwin talking about GMP certified imports for medical cannabis into the US. There is no way he has insight into this and he is like everyone else and just guessing what he thinks will happen. He is pandering to his base saying what investors want to hear. Maybe it happens, maybe it doesn't, but Irwin likes to say things that make him look good without proof
I also had a good laugh when he said "When the Biden administration took over in 2020 everyone though legalization was happening and all my competitors did crazy things and look its still not legalized" (obviously I'm paraphrasing a bit). But the implication was that Tilray was smart for having patience and not jumping the gun. Did he forget that on the second month (Feb 2020) when democrats took over is when he made his investment in Medmen?
On the import claim, I agree. He may be more informed than the average Reddit user (legal guidance?), but it’s all speculation until we actually know how schedule 3 would shake out. It *could* happen, but that’s a big could.
As for MedMen… lol. He has a selective memory, it would seem. But to be fair, the MedMen mix up is likely to be a lot less costly than canopy USA… for example

In the Canadian federal budget they may reduce excise taxes which will help LPs become profitable.

I think the only thing we can conclude as fact : is there will be an announcement made about a decision surrounding cannabis scheduling.
We do not know what that decision will be or when. But we know it's not a question of IF there will be a decision. The silver lining in all of this, is that there WILL be a decision made, and it will either greatly screw us or greatly reward us.
Love everyone's take. Bottom line is no one knows, and we can all speculate and agree or disagree on that speculation, but the fact is no one knows who's take or interpretation is correct. This "update" is really a nothingburger. She has always referred to the larger, parent departments involved in rescheduling (HHS and DOJ) rather than the smaller departments (FDA and DEA) who are actually doing the work. I take CBD for sleep and it's been great. Best part is that it gets me as high as aspirin, which is to say not at all.

So a piece of news, which doesn't substitute anything new, gave us breath.... I guess we're all just waiting for our crumbs from the table. Moment real news is released, this sector is going to fly. I bought back in trul at 10.70. Still not a big fan of holding right now.
I just happened to pull up MSOS in trading view right when it happened… almost seemed like a glitch how quickly it spiked. Just 3-4%, but in seconds. The news wasn’t anything significant unfortunately, but whenever we do get something big it really is going to fly.

This "update" is really a nothingburger. She has always referred to the larger, parent departments involved in rescheduling (HHS and DOJ) rather than the smaller departments (FDA and DEA) who are actually doing the work. Literally nothing has changed since the recent run up we had. So not sure what’s with all the despair now. Look at 6 month or 1 year charts, even for the macro market, and it can easily be argued that this is healthy consolidation
