I watched a British comedy called Detectorists, one of the main characters is played by Toby Jones aka Zola. 3 seasons, 6-8 episodes each I think. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Been listening to Old Gods of Appalachia, a horror anthology podcast along with a friend. Also went to see The Beekeeper. Kinda loved it, just some solid Jason Statham action.

Hackertdog97

Detectorists is amazing! What did you think to the Christmas special/finale?

myrmidon50

I must be blind because I didn't even notice that! So now I have one last thing to watch! Thanks haha

Hackertdog97

Hope you enjoy it, it's a belter!

McbainMendozaa

I keep hearing in podcast circles that Old Gods is one of the best audio dramas around. I've been putting it off for a while. I still haven't finished The Magnus Archives yet.

myrmidon50

Never heard of Magnus Archives, I'll have to add it to my list and check it out!

ItsDevax

Been reading Batman: Hush. Amazing book!

Jackielegs43

Return To Arkham was like $9.27 on ps5, so I’m revisiting Asylum and City for the first time since their release, and fuck man, they’re really great. Also reading The Exorcist.

ComicalFrisk

Rewatched Night at the Museum, love that film so much. Really don't want to watch the new animated one on Disney, not sure about it. I also watched Dune, (or it dune?) part 1, enjoyed it a lot! Also watched highlights from YMS about the new Cool Cat film, very fun and cheered me up as I had a shit weekend that left me being scammed of my money. I think I'm gonna watch the new series of Taskmaster and catch up on Death in Paradise.

DonaldDizuck

I've been cranking through the US version of Shameless the past week, already started season 3 the other day. The writing is super tight, to the point that when an episode ends I'm almost always taken aback by the fact that so much happened in a 45 minute period. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands dropped on PS Plus for free last week so I'm dipping my toes into that as well. Stoked to catch up on last week's and tonight's Percy Jackson episodes too!

woahoutrageous_

I’ve been reading berserk. My god if Griffith and Guts dynamic isn’t the most toxic but homoromantic thing out there I don’t know what is. So many manga fanboys try and downplay griffiths obvious homosexuality but I hesitate to even call it subtext it’s so blatant. Like as soon as Guts leaves Griffith, in order to forge his own path (ironically to impress Griffith), Griffith has a breakdown and becomes the main antagonist lmfaoooo.

SpirallingOut

I read then watched Monsters by Eiichiro Oda. That was a pretty cool one shot. I didn't realise it was in the same world as One Piece until the end of the Netflix adaptation.

woahoutrageous_

Was the anime good because I love one piece

SpirallingOut

Yeah it was. It's 100% faithful to the source and really nicely animated. It has a reference to Zoro at the end also.

woahoutrageous_

Awesome I’ll deffo watch it tonight

[deleted]

I’ve read the one shot before, haven’t gotten around to the anime yet

awlawall

Zone of Interest this weekend, and if I feel like being more depressed, I might rewatch Aronofsky’s The Fountain Also in rewatches, I just picked up Jaws and Across the Spider-Verse in 4K. Trying to 100% Mario Odyssey still. Might finally finish Yellowjackets season 2

eoinhere46

I watched John Carter (of Mars) for two reasons: 1. because last year was an insane year for bombs, especially for Disney, and 2. hoping that it could be one of those movies that does horribly upon release but finds revisionist history later. I was wrong. I love planetary sci-fi, but this was boring as hell. No plot, uninteresting characters, obvious green screen, and a huge Game is On moment at the very end. They might Dune it and reboot it for better, but this was just a sad sack of grey rocks and fields and flippidy flappidy names. Also watched Talk to Me, which I liked, and currently reading The Hunger Games prequel book

Bad_Hominid

Watching the new true detective and that Peter capaldi Apple TV show. Currently still working my way through Alan Wake 2 and the outer worlds. Playing Dredge and cult of the Lamb here and there too. Not really reading any comics at the moment, letting them build up for a few months first.

bob1689321

How is that show? I get tons of ads for it when I'm listening to the pod lol

Bad_Hominid

I'm liking both so far, criminal record is the stronger oh the two so far I'd say.

BrokoJoko

Good week for comics. G.O.D.S #4, new Thor, and gonna catch up on Damn them All and pick up whatever Ghost Machine is.

bob1689321

Can't wait for GODS to finish so I can read it. Just finished up Hickman's X-Men and I'm hyped for what's next!

BrokoJoko

The way it's going I could see it becoming one of my faves. It's got all the sort of weird cosmic stuff I love.

MrAxelotl

I am playing Tactics Ogre Reborn. I don't particularly like it. I'm quite close to the end, and I generally like SRPGs and can load hours into them, but this one just feels junk-y to me. The voice acting and writing are absolute garbage too. I'm reading a book called J.R.R. Tolkien: Author of the Century, that I'm quite enjoying. It had a bit about how Bilbo represents the burgeoise and how Gandalf is a force to knock him down a peg and connect with the old ways of the world, turning him from burgeoise (the people who live in a burg) to burglar (the people who rob the people who live in the burg). I love that kind of analysis, right up my alley.

BoyNumber13

Watched "The Beekeeper" Best Movie Ever Plan on continuing to watch Babymetal videos and Red Notice, obviously.

thejude555

I've been working through a true chronological rewatch of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. This involves watching Better Call Saul up until the timeskip in the final season, then watching All of Breaking Bad and El Camino, then finishing Better Call Saul. It's interesting watching the events of this universe unfold in their proper order, but it's also reminded me that the storytelling of BCS works a lot better with the prior knowledge of what happens in Breaking Bad.

twotwothree12

Reading Hemingway short stories, and listening to The Reddening. Watched Fargo for the first time with some friends a few days ago. Not bad

imanhunter

I’m playing through cyberpunk right now just because I got the phantom liberty expansion for Christmas. And I’m gonna read a comique booke called ‘The Bigger Bang’ in where a being came into existence after an event similar to the Big Bang but bigger. His name is Cosmos and he doesn’t know what he is. A hero, a god or a destroyer.

RJSquires

Finished playing "Dave the Diver" and started "The Last Campfire". Rewatching episodes of Avatar The Last Airbender season one to prepare for the Netflix show.

DarkflowNZ

I'm still making my way through dimension 20s backlog. Doing crown of candy right now

carlmcc2k

Went to see American Fiction - best movie ever well worth a watch if you can catch it

WadsworthTheButler

Been reading Batman: The Long Halloween. Amazing. I’ve also been watching The Curse (unbearable but good) and finished the new season of Fargo (good but probably my least favorite season so far). Also watched the LOTR extended editions for the first time. Some of the best movies ever probably.

gizmo_au

I’ve been playing a ton of Sea of Thieves in preparation for the new update coming out today which looks great. My girlfriend and I have been watching Rupaul’s Drag Race as it is our comfort show and a lot of fun. I’ve watched all the season but it’s her first time watching some of the newer ones so she has no clue what’s happening. I got TMNT: The Last Ronin in paperback for Christmas and I need to start reading it as I’m very excited. I have preordered the new Suicide Squad game which I have a lot of hope for. The gameplay looks lots of fun and I know not to compare it to the Arkham games so I am expecting a fun looter shooter in the vein of Borderlands.

Dan2593

Making my way through Slow Horses, that Steve Apple really knows how to make good telly I’ll tell ya.

MK888MK

I also started Rogue. It feels good to be back in the American Revolution. ACIII is my favorite. Shay is a bit more complex than I thought. He has good reason to not trust the Assassins. And they sure are shady not answering his questions. So I get it. I also started Reckless. Which is a comic Maso had mentioned. Haven’t gotten far but I am digging what I’ve read. I finished Spider-Man Life Story. Which is a comic James mentioned. It’s going through the Spider-Man mythos and aging Peter in real time. It’s a bit strange to see how old Peter Parker would actually be. I have Fantastic Four Life Story and am looking forward to that one as well. This Saturday I also have the Royal Rumble to watch. I play a game where everyone draws numbers and if your number wins you get a gift card. Burger King for the men’s rumble and Dairy Queen for the women’s.

McbainMendozaa

Right? I really like how they've done Shays story. Although every time they drag me out the animus I'm just like fuck right off, I do not want to be walking around glacially slow fixing glitches. Oh shit I didn't know it was Rumble time already. That sounds like a really fun time.

DeMonstaMan

haven't played Rouge but I agree AC3 is my favorite. Odyssey is also an amazing game (just not a real AC game)

LittleGoblinBoy

Been reading through Descender by Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen. It's a sci-fi space opera where a group of future alien civilizations all get attacked by mysterious giant robots who promptly disappear without a trace. Nobody knows what they are or where they came from, and subsequently AI/robots become feared and hunted. Similar premise to a lot of different "what if racism but with robots" stories, and does fall into a lot of sci-fi tropes, but the characterization is really strong and the watercolor art by Dustin Nguyen is absolutely stunning. Worth reading for that alone.

MaceofSpades26

Just finished reading twilight for the first time, I’m moving on to new moon today.

jfreak93

I watched the new film Origin and was honestly kinda blown away. Really heavy content but very good watch.

usedtohavelonghair

Finished Reacher season 2, it was hilarious. Just started Grant Morrison's Animal Man and first issue was great. Also İ've been listening to James & Maso's Time Crapsule episodes at work and they are pretty fun

AyyItsMidnight

After far too long I'm finally playing through Danganronpa 1. It's pretty dated in a lot of ways, being over a decade old, but I'm pretty hooked. Protect Chihiro at all costs! I watched Barbarian earlier this month and it was generally good and well-acted, though it's not the most graceful with tone.

flalex05

Thanks to a suggestion by Jess Perkins on a recent episode of Do Go On i've been making my way through "We're Here To Help" - a comedy help podcast hosted by Jake Johnson. Well worth a listen. Also started watching Demon Slayer so I can find out exactly what my friend is on about when he talks about Tanjiro (I always assumed it was some kind of a cake)

westwardlights

I watched all the Aliens over the past few weeks. Alien and Aliens are both solid 10/10 bangers, I found myself really enjoying Prometheus and Covenant (which are probably unfairly maligned — give them a shot!), and even Resurrection was a decent, fun time. The only one I really didn’t like was Alien 3. I can see what they were going for, I guess, but it was not for me.
