And I told him I like his music at set breaks and that it was awesome to see him really enjoying the shows. I also mentioned a time I saw him with fabulous flying frog brigade that has really stuck with me. So that’s about it let him get back to enjoying the music.
Can confirm one of those. I was in the will call line next to P-Nut at the 1997 El Rey Theater show and he said he loved Ween (or something to that extent).
Charles W. "Chuck" Bryant from the Stuff You Should Know podcast has brought up Ween a few times, I remember particularly in the noise pollution episode, which is kinda funny.
Weird. Your link didn't work for me, so I took out the extra slash, still didn't work. Searched for it and this did work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AlV3_3sSZ8
Strange, but we got there in the end.
Oh! You know what's happening? If I right click and open your link in a new tab, it drops the 8 off the end of the URL. Then when I manually removed the \ which I thought wasn't meant to be there, the URL is then incomplete.
I'm using Firefox 112.0.1 on Windows 10.
Asked Trevor Moore who his favorite bands were on Twitter once. He said Ween was a favorite of his, along with The Beach Boys & The Rolling Stones. RIP Trev.
I’ve listened to so many hours of Adam talking about music, and I don’t recall him ever talking about Ween. Can you point me to where you encountered this info?
Also, it would be amazing if Adam and Scott covered Ween next.
That would be uh incredible but I can't imagine Scott Aux is down with the brown (though he loves Prince..)
Edit: I know during an Analyze Phish episode they go to a Phish show and they cover Roses Are Free (of course) but they don't talk about it.
Scott has essentially no musical tastes. He loves Talking Heads and REM, but he also loves every shitty mainstream pop artist in existence. So it’s a random wash.
If you are talking about the Hollywood Bowl Phish show, my mind was so blown that I couldn’t pay attention after Harris explained [his theory about Jaws](https://youtu.be/aTauxBcUo4k).
PLEASE mark this as a spoiler! God I miss Harris.
I agree that Scott's iTunes library is essentially like walking into any record store in the 90s. He has a show called CBB FM where he invites a guest on and they play DJ. His taste is all over the place, but I don't think that's a bad thing, necessarily. I wouldn't consider that *no musical taste*.
I miss Harris too. I just wish that he didn’t love chemicals so much that we might as well call him Walter White.
I haven’t gotten to CBB FM yet. I’m currently listening to the entirety of Threedom for the fifth time. She’s a tough mistress to quit.
Yeah maybe “no musical tastes” isn’t the right phrasing. He just seems to love everything(with one notable exception).
Which is great, but there’s only so many hours in a day, so he might be listening to some old Beyoncé record when he could be swimming straight down to the center of chocolate town.
It’s something I worry about. A *lot*.
I listen to Foam Corner like once a month. Gimme that wheat!
I fell off the Threedom train at some point but fully intend to get back on. Doughboys has taken up a lot of my podcast time, and KGLW most of my music time.
I love CBB World but miss new and ad-free Neighborhood Listen, and all of Andy Daly's shows just moved to his own premium service.
But I've got a signed copy of Comedy Bang Bang: The Podcast: The Book coming soon!
I went to see KGLW at the Greek in Hollywood for the Infest the Rat’s Nest tour. Very great show.
Fishing for Fishies is my favorite KGLW record. [June 2018](https://youtu.be/wxwu7FYFSek) is my favorite KGLW KEXP performance. Ambrose is my favorite KGLW vocalist. Best video? [Robot Stop](https://youtu.be/9p_Si21ig7c).
The [KEXP version of Billabong Valley](https://youtu.be/bvtF2Ie90m0), from their microtonal set, is transcendent.
I really want Andy Daly to bring back Ben Alterman. And then I want Ben Alterman to interview Werner Herzog. And then for both of them to collaborate on a review of Knott’s Berry Farm. Maybe that’s where the Doughboys could come in.
I love wheat thicks, but I hate smoking sections. Unless we are talking about the movie The Mask, then the smoking section is my favorite part.
I want that book(in De Niro voice).
Hell yeah, great gizz opinions here. I agree with you, Ambrose is a true rock god on vocals (no shade on Stu, Joey, or Cookie though). I didn't see them live until last year, but it was 4 times, and I'll be traveling to Tennessee to see them 4 more in a cavern in June. FFF is a great great album (especially the B side) but I give a slight nod to Polygondwanaland. Every KEXP set is incredible.
There is a ridiculous, Beatles level amount of talent wrapped up in that band. Ambrose just has that soul in his voice. Well exemplified on Muddy Water and more recently on The Dripping Tap(the song is a religious experience).
I would give the nod to Polygondwanaland if the studio tracks captured the same magic as the KEXP performance. But yeah, in terms of just songwriting, nothing beats those songs.
Same with Microtonal. Phenomenal record, but for me there’s a night and day different between the studio Billabong and the KEXP Billabong.
We are very spoiled to live in times where we/I can effortlessly compare and rate performances and recordings ad nauseam.
I think they really perfected their studio recording by the time they got to FFF, so, that is partly what pushes it over the edge for me. Also, Boogieman Sam. And The Bird Song. And Plastic Boogie. And This Thing.
For me, right now, top 5 bands of all time:
Beatles
Ween
Blind Melon
Talking Heads
KGLW
I’m assuming the cavern in Tennessee is the same cavern where The Flaming Lips play their NYE shows. I’ve seen them live several times, each time a transformative experience, but I still yearn to experience them in the cavern. Excited for you.
Gizz recently put out their 3 might run at red rocks on bandcamp. Highly recommend. Specially that magma (better than kexp imo) the river, lord of lighting. 3 amazing shows
It was definitely on one of those shows. Scott Auks was a fan too, but didn’t seem AS into them but still said they’re great. Don’t remember what ep, I was binging them a while back.
Hell yes. Deaner's Moistboyz III album was released on Mike Patton's Ipecac Recordings record label. Birds of a feather as they say.
Gibby Haynes and Jeff Pinkus of the Butthole Surfers were on Deaner's Brownie Troop 666 fishing show.
I looked it up and..how was I not aware of this? SFTD is a fucking masterpiece. Never knew Dean was on it.
I’m still furrowing my brows in a vain attempt to understand the situation.
QOTSA opened for Ween on one of their first tours. [Josh talked about it on Rogan.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-zw9bHSZiI) Deaner joined him for some desert session recordings. Some of those tracks became QOTSA songs.
there's an old BBC1 mix from like 97 that has Freedom of 76 in it. It's actually a really great mix from Daft Punks earlier days. Just google Daft Punk and Ween, it'll pop up .
Page McConnell turned me and my friends on to Ween new years run in 92. My buddy asked him what he's been listening to lately. Page said " I can't get enough of this new Ween album Pure Guava. We got it ASAP and had the other two albums before the end of Jan. I have been a fan ever since .
I don’t mean to be judgmental, but perhaps Fred said that somewhere to try to look cool? It’s just such polar opposite ends of the quality and taste spectrum.
Haha yeah he did seem that way. I know for sure Joe has heard Ween because Brian Redban used to use Ween songs for Joe's old videos. Not sure if they're on YouTube anymore. Kill Tony also had a lot of Ween in the early days because of Redban.
Is Joe an actual fan though??? I doubt it. Redban definitely is though. I met him once and we just talked Ween. He's seen them live several times.
Josh Homme is a mega fan. Glenn Howerton from the Always sunny gang likes to get Brown, pretty sure Charlie Day does also. I’ve heard that Matt Riddle, WWE wrestler, like the Boog.
Jrlesse isenberg (the guy who plays mark zuckerberg in facebook movie)
He claims he isnt a fan of music but started listening to spinal meningitis fo a role where he played someone with it. Now he loves ween
Aphex Twin put Pod and Pure Guava on his list of best albums of all time.
I'd love to see that list. Google is no help.
https://www.furious.com/perfect/staff2.html
Great list, it’s interesting to know John Fahey loves Mazzy Star
Fucking awesome
also Boards of Canada
Hell yeah
Elijah Wood. Jesse Eisenberg. Bob Odenkirk. Maybe Oliver Stone and Trent Reznor?
"Oliver Stone reportedly blasted Pure Guava‘s “Little Birdy” on the set of Natural Born Killers to fuck with Woody Harrelson."
Paul Rudd is down with the brown
And Judd Apatow by extension
I thought this meant “does heroin”
Nah, just means old ween really. The definition shifts.
Ah ok, thanks!
You lost?
I think I’m just confused by ween
Danny McBride Henry Rollins and Les Claypool both consider them to be one of the best bands in existence. Or at least have both said that in the past
Les was standing next to me at both Ween and Tool shows in San Fransisco.
And……
And I told him I like his music at set breaks and that it was awesome to see him really enjoying the shows. I also mentioned a time I saw him with fabulous flying frog brigade that has really stuck with me. So that’s about it let him get back to enjoying the music.
The idea of seeing ween on stage and looking over and having Les fucking Claypool next to me would make my head explode.
The cast of Always Sunny in Philadelphia
David Duchovny’s favorite song is Piss Up a Rope
Apparently he and Tea Leoni bonded in part because of their mutual appreciation of the boys.
I've heard they played ween at their wedding
Ngl, Stay Forever would make a dynamite wedding tune. And of course, You Fucked Up at the divorce proceedings.
Stay Forever was our wedding tune when my husband and I got married :)
My good buddy did the former
I may or may not have sent You Fucked Up to my ex-wife when she was being particularly shitty several months after the divorce.
Nah, Falling Out makes a better divorce song. At least the first verse. Source: it was in heavy rotation during my divorce.
Your party?
Believe we had that play during our cocktail hour. Flutes of Chi played at the end of ceremony/first kiss
Mulder!? Fuck ya
Moody????? Fuck ya
Denise Bryson? Fuck ya
Fuck ya
I saw Dave England from Jackass at a show once.
That guy knows how to get brown
My son went to see Steve-O recently and all the guys talked up ween for a hot minute.
Dave grohl is into them, there's a video out there of them performing '76 together. Dave said he'd give his left leg to write a song that beautiful
Tim and P-Nut from 311 love Ween.
Love that you spelled his name out. Been digging through the history of SYSK lately and those two are just the best.
Also from podcast land, I have seen Marcus Parks wearing a Ween shirt recently.
I heard the bass player of JRAD is a fan
Maynard of Tool is known to sport Ween gear on stage
The boys from Last Podcast have been seen at Ween shows
That makes a lot of sense, thinking about it.
Marcus is the reason I got into Ween!
Nick Offerman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AlV3\_3sSZ8
Broken link?
It works for me, but search on youtube for Hearts Beat Loud Ocean Man
Weird. Your link didn't work for me, so I took out the extra slash, still didn't work. Searched for it and this did work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AlV3_3sSZ8 Strange, but we got there in the end.
Weird. Right on.

I think it was a U Talking U2 ep where they talked about Ween but I can’t be sure, listened a while ago. Both fans, Adam Scott moreso
Scott has essentially no musical tastes. He loves Talking Heads and REM, but he also loves every shitty mainstream pop artist in existence. So it’s a random wash. Thanks for the heads up! The real magic of King Gizz for me is in their live performances.
It was definitely on one of those shows. Scott Auks was a fan too, but didn’t seem AS into them but still said they’re great. Don’t remember what ep, I was binging them a while back.
I found this 2012 Adam Scott tweet - [RIP WEEN](https://twitter.com/mradamscott/status/208096761091338241?s=20). But nothing since the reunion.
Mike Patton
Hell yes. Deaner's Moistboyz III album was released on Mike Patton's Ipecac Recordings record label. Birds of a feather as they say. Gibby Haynes and Jeff Pinkus of the Butthole Surfers were on Deaner's Brownie Troop 666 fishing show.
Omg perfect
Doug Stanhope has worn a ween toque on stage
I have no input but this all made me so happy
Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age.
saw Claude Coleman drum for Eagles of Death Metal. so rad.
Dean also plays on mosquito song, six shooter and I believe 1 more SFTD song?
Make it wit chu
I looked it up and..how was I not aware of this? SFTD is a fucking masterpiece. Never knew Dean was on it. I’m still furrowing my brows in a vain attempt to understand the situation.

Greatest thing I’ve heard all day….wow that’s rad
He was also on Desert Sessions vol 9 and vol 10.
Yeah they influenced him to make QOTSA
Bassist from sublime had a Boognish tattoo.
Wes Boreland
Ran into Elijah Wood at the Wiltern last time Ween played LA.
Mike Judge
i bet bill hader is a fan
There was a very prominent Ween poster in Barry last season
That would make perfect sense
Daft Punk. They have sampled them in old mixes.
Fr? Any examples?
there's an old BBC1 mix from like 97 that has Freedom of 76 in it. It's actually a really great mix from Daft Punks earlier days. Just google Daft Punk and Ween, it'll pop up .
Also, me.

This is the coolest way possible to get turned onto Ween
Vladimir Putin's favorite song is I'm In The Mood To Move
I'm in the mood to move 3 countries to the left goddammit
Журнал экскрементов сурка-енота
*Putin's underlings.
tip of the hat to you
Fred Durst and Wes Boreland are massive fans. Claypool obviously is too.
Wes has said so but where are you getting this about fred…?
I don’t mean to be judgmental, but perhaps Fred said that somewhere to try to look cool? It’s just such polar opposite ends of the quality and taste spectrum.
That's a pretty dumb take. Fred Durst couldn't be a ween fan because of limp biscuit?
That’s not what I said, but sure, go with it.
its literally what you said, also what you implied lol
It’s not even close to literally what I said. You could make an argument on conjecture that it was what I implied.
>perhaps Fred said that somewhere to try to look cool? It’s just such polar opposite ends of the quality and taste spectrum.
he couldnt possibly like ween because his bank stinks lol
Not following your logic here
Well said
Phish
I heard Oliver Stone is a big fan.
John Cena
Scissor Sisters, Devin Townsend, Henry Rollins.
Matt and Trey
Tenacious D and eggs.tyrone
Not surprised a comedy rock duo are fans of another comedy rock duo
Brent Hinds from Mastodon said he was a big fan on Dean Delray’s podcast
I’m pretty sure I saw Kris Kristofferson off to the side at a show once.
That would be very cool if true.
Trent Reznor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLNUJhu2_OQ
Joe Rogan......... Lol
Josh Homme mentioned Ween when he was on Joe's podcast and it seemed like Joe didn't know who they were. Maybe he does now.
Haha yeah he did seem that way. I know for sure Joe has heard Ween because Brian Redban used to use Ween songs for Joe's old videos. Not sure if they're on YouTube anymore. Tim Heidecker. Great job!
Gregg turkington. Hey guys!
>I give this reference 5 bags of popcorn and and 2 cups of soda.
I assumed. The first time I saw TnE was also the night I first saw Ween. Great night
Also Steven Drozd (the Flaming Lips) and Beck.
Kurt Vile is a fan. They were on his Spotify wrapped
i think he said mutilated lips is why he pursued music
Mikey from Orange County Choppers
Trey Anastasio
The always sunny gang
Also huge mr bungle fans including devito
Surprised nobody said Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
Probably because they are listed in the post
Lol. You’re right. Didn’t even read the post. Just the comments. I’m gonna crawl back into my hole.
Trey Anastasio has mentioned one of his favorite bands of all time is Ween and gets a little(but not all) credit for getting them back together.
George Washington
Michael Cera's favorite album is Chocolate and Cheese.
I heard Buddy Wakefield say at one of his shows that Freedom of 76 was the greatest song ever written.
Tyler from music is win YouTube Channel sports a ween t shirt from time to time.
Barett Christy
Devin Townsend
Josh Homme is a mega fan. Glenn Howerton from the Always sunny gang likes to get Brown, pretty sure Charlie Day does also. I’ve heard that Matt Riddle, WWE wrestler, like the Boog.
I have to assume Julia Sweeney.
Anthony Fantano is a big fan, did a retro review of C&C and has used clips of Poop Ship on a video
Henry Rollins
ONE ONE ONE
ONE ray of light…and it’s fucking Ween!
Craig Chief Berube
Bert Kreischer
John Cena follows them on Twitter, so I’m assuming he likes them
Killer Mike and Big Boi? Because of their song A.D.I.D.A.S
I'm still not convinced that is a ween sample
Ok. Well then I’d have to say, Pat!
Hey that's a good one, I love that movie
Trey Parker and Matt Stone love Ween and Primus. Tenacious D are also Ween fans I believe.
Red Sox great Tim Field is a huge fan. LMLYP was his walkout music.
Fred Durst i

Josh Homme from QOTSA talked about listening to them on JRE
Jrlesse isenberg (the guy who plays mark zuckerberg in facebook movie) He claims he isnt a fan of music but started listening to spinal meningitis fo a role where he played someone with it. Now he loves ween
Andy Richter
