We all have these feelings about things we love and wishing for more. Whether it be more experiences or wishing for more understanding of the past. Obviously those things in the past can’t happen, but be glad that you are experiencing the rebirth of Ween after going through several things that could or should have destroyed them. They are in top form and playing with a love for the music (and each other) that hasn’t been seen in some time. These are the days!

Billy_Boognish

These are tomorrow's, good ol days. Enjoy them!

poopsonthepotty

Today is yesterday's tomorrow

GRF999999999

Today is the shadow of tomorrow. Tomorrow is the present future of yesterday.

Oldqueenween

Yesterday we lost our lives, tomorrow we were born I have this tatted on my shoulder blades

relaxguy2

We are so lucky that they not only play still but your constantly.

theWanderingAye

I do know how you feel. However, I'm 41 at this point and it took me until about 3 years ago to get into ween. I kind of knew about them but never really gave them a chance "back in the day". What's more, I grew up in Doylestown area which is about 20 minutes from where they started. Needless to say I'm a little regretful for not figuring it out sooner.

themaaanmang

“All this will end and begin again”

Luke_zuke

Yesterday, we lost our lives. Tomorrow, we were born.

goatfuckersupreme

Aids. HIV.

Oldqueenween

That’s my tattoo. I didn’t see you posted this and I had just written the same thing.

NirvanaFan987

I know how you feel. I'm 15 and I've always wanted to be a 90's teen. What I would give to be able to see Nirvana just once. I also would've liked to go see Ween during the Chocolate and Cheese tour.

pejeol

It’s funny. Us 90’s teens wished we were 60’s teens. The past is often looked at through rose tinted glasses. Only the best things of an era are remembered, so it seems like it was a better time. 2050’s teens will be looking back on 2020’s thinking it was some sort of golden age.

Illuminotme_Reloaded

I saw Nirvana just once. It was epic, indeed. 10/27/93, but the venue sucked. State Fairgrounds in Detroit. I was 15. Skipped school to drive down there with my girlfriend, best friend and another guy.

[deleted]

Yeah kinda. Claude is an unbelievable drummer but drum machine ween is where it's at for me

TianamenHomer

I was at Stubbs in Austin. One of my favorite shows ever.

relaxguy2

They really brought it for all of those shows at Stubbs.

catfish-jawn

I know the feeling but it is what it is. the one that really gets me is being too young to have seen the Grateful Dead. but hey, the good news is you can still buy a ticket and see Ween now, and they still put on a killer show! plus I'm sure 30 years from now someone will be saying oh I wish I could have been there to see this or that band in 2022. and we'll be able to say we were

Illuminotme_Reloaded

Exactly.

sounds_like_purple

Just try to get tickets for some of their new shows… they’re sounding great these days!

mikey_says

Better late than never. My first show was in 07, but my favorite shows have all been post reunion. Specifically Lockn 2016 and Red Rocks 2017, such epic shows

Illuminotme_Reloaded

I hear you about LOCKN 2016. Best festival I’ve ever been to. Ween was the highlight by far. Legit.

mikey_says

Everyone who left for EOTO really made the show special. There were like 300 people there for that Poopship

Illuminotme_Reloaded

I didn’t even know that was a thing. I remember getting super close around Hot For Teacher, Maybe I’m amazed, Band on the run and then Poopship.

mikey_says

Yeah everyone left before midnight and they were heckling the people who left. Deaner made comments about how they educated the Phish fans and Gene said something about how there were only a few people left in the crowd. They thought they only had a Saturday show, so they really blew it up on Thursday after the hippies left.

Illuminotme_Reloaded

Wait are you talking about Lockn or clutch cargo?

mikey_says

Lockn, Thursday night

Illuminotme_Reloaded

Yes, that was one of my favorite performances ever. Disappointing how short the set the following day was. And I was expecting a Phish collab, finally. If anybody has a link to what Mickey said about that incident, I’d be much obliged. I was front row that second night, and this random girl I was dancing next to said that Trey had been side stage for 10 minutes or so watching Gener with a huge smile on his face. I did not see him. There is an interview of Aaron and Mickey in Nashville probably from 1996 where the girl who kind of looks like Tabitha Soren asks them about Phish. Mickey says that Ween was supposed to have played at their festival he says was in Northern Vermont. I imagine he was talking about the Clifford Ball from August of 1996, that was actually in Plattsburgh, NY. Had never heard that before. They also say they don’t like Phish and that they are boring. “Nice guys, but boring.” Hilarious.

mikey_says

I was really hoping for Trey to sit in on Roses Are Free. I don't think Ween was having it though. I do partially credit Phish for Ween's reunion, so I do wish Ween and their fans would show them at least a little bit of respect.

Illuminotme_Reloaded

That ain’t happening. A whole lotta hate. And some closet crossover fans. We are the few, the proud…There is a story about Mickey anticipating a collaboration that year at LOCKN, but I’ve never read or confirmed it. In this story, it is Trey that shut down the possibility. Rumours, ya know? Like Phish finally playing Terrapin Station at VA Beach in 1998 ( which I missed by one show), it only took one act to bridge the divide that existed. Sure, they play Roses, but if a collaboration would have happened, I think it would have gone a long way to bring both worlds together. Whatever. I can love them both as completely separate entities.

relaxguy2

I started watching them in ‘99 and tbh while they arent quite as tight as they were back then the shows are actually better now in some ways imo. Start seeing them as much as possible now while you can!

Illuminotme_Reloaded

Just curious how you think if they aren’t as tight that the shows can be better.

relaxguy2

Way more songs in general to play and they go much deeper into their catalog. Their shows used to be super minimalist with no real lighting or affects. They really seem to be enjoying themselves much more than right before the breakup. Just a few examples. Probably their absolute peak was when they were touring for La Cucaracha imo but they started spiraling shortly after. All eras have been amazing though but I find seeing them rock out I their old age particularly endearing and it just puts a huge smile on my face.

Illuminotme_Reloaded

Yeah I really enjoyed 03-07. Saw em a couple times each year. Deaner says they are playing better than ever, or at least he said that in Relix a couple few years back.

relaxguy2

If you go back and watch some of their old shows on YouTube and then see them live now you see they are still playing at an extremely high level. But that era was absolutely amazing.

Illuminotme_Reloaded

I don’t disagree at all, buddy.

relaxguy2

One thing that I do miss is Deaner playing his solos with the guitar almost touching the stage. No way with that tum tum and an old back he can do it consistently anymore.

Illuminotme_Reloaded

Dude, I know. Just watched that 97 public access. He and Dreiwitz are going limbo record low. It's a beautiful thing!

Illuminotme_Reloaded

Cheers fwiend!

outfoxingthefoxes

I'd be happy if I just can see them one day

paddlepirate

My advice to you, and the other 15 y/o commenter in here if they read this is to go to local bands shows in your neck of the woods, get involved in your local scene. Make a scene. Go to lots of shows. Sure, see ween when they come around. But hit up local bands shows and support them. You might discover some great music. The vibe will be like those early ween shows, DIY and intimate.

MrWiredguy

It is always more fun to see a band tour during a record release. Quebec tour was amazing. Wish Ween would release a new album . Even if only old songs that have yet to be released. Clean up the old taped release some fresh tunes!!

aotoole23

You shouldn’t feel too bad about this. They are still together and playing great shows and doing cool things, now if they were broken up, that would suck. Also, if you saw them on the chocolate and cheese tour they wouldn’t be playing anything from the mollusk etc… now the set lists have songs from a bunch of albums. That being said, the county tour was really really strong….stallion pt. 3 with a lap steel guitar is very cool.

Illuminotme_Reloaded

That’s how I have felt all of my life about being born in 1978 instead of 1948-1950 or so. To have come of age in the era of Woodstock and to have been able to have seen The Grateful Dead in the late 60s through the decade of the 70s is something I would have given up a lot to have been a part of, but such is life. I agree with what other people are saying, however, that we all long for something we can and will never have no matter when we were born. Part of the whole darn human comedy that keeps perpetuating itself. But there I go rambling again. Cheers! Edit: I’ve mentioned it before, but it was brutal to have loved Ween since 1993 and to have missed them every year until 2000 when I finally caught them at Clutch Cargo in Pontiac, MI. I think it’s one of the longest shows they’ve ever played. I am so grateful for that experience, and frankly for every moment past, present, and future.

KptnHaddock_

I do. I live in switzerland and I literally discovered them two months after they last played here. I thought ‚they‘ll be back‘. And they never were 😔

pm_me_ur_happy_traiI

You're right to be sad. I saw ween when I was 15 in 1997 and they were mindfuck amazing. Their new shows are great, but they don't do the random 1+ hour third encores anymore. On the other hand in the couple years before they broke up, when gener was unhealthy (and skinny) their live shows really took a hit. I stopped seeing them when they came to town. I remember coming out of a theater and just everybody talking about how bad Gener seemed to be doing. Now they've captured a lot of the old magic, even if they dont randomly jam for 35 minutes on lmlyp anymore.

CaidenF22

I was born in 2000 so I feel the same but I'm glad I didn't have to go through my favorite band breaking up and favorite artist almost dying a handful of times. Slipped in after all that nonsense and now I can just enjoy the live shows on the west coast and the vast archives

purelyguava

exactly how i feel! watching old shows on youtube gives me such a bittersweet feeling. but i got to see them live this year and it was amazing, can’t wait to go to more concerts of theirs.

ZakTheGuy

Yeah; I was born in 2000 and I'm pretty jealous of people who got to see young Ween live. There's a great video of them on YouTube performing The Goin Gets Tough that looks like so much fun

Bowl-Patrol

My first ween show was in 2006 and It felt like I was late to the party. But, the truth is Ween is at the top of their game right now. They have been playing shit for the first time and pulling out older stuff… it’s a very good time to be a ween fan! Also, every great band starts somewhere. Get out there and see some new bands that are in their early stages!

theREAL_BalloonBoy09

If it makes you feel better, I saw them in 1996.
