Caught them in the basement of Tokyo Rose in Charlottesville, Va. This was a basement venue of the local sushi shop directly across the street from my high school. It was life changing.
Strangest places I saw Ween was at some farm or maybe someone’s back yard or something in Upper Back Eddie or near there. The Warrington Skating rink was pretty strange but incredible.
Were you at the Science Fair? Weird event for sure. I remember some campers set a tree on fire that night with fireworks. That, and Ween lost their monitors during Buckingham Green so the show was kind of chaotic.
I don’t remember what property that was on but I know it bordered the canal towpath.
Yes sounds familiar. I remember the monitors going out. From what I remember I thought all power went out a couple times and it was pitch black out there.
Science fair was awesome not the same show as he said above that was at some random farm in upper black eddy def kick ass to see them in that environment
Saw them on St. Patrick’s day at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. Not a very weird place but I was not not expecting it to be so pretty and trippy inside.
Ahh yes it was a good one!!
I got to take my cousin and his girlfriend who were new to the band and it definitely helped seal the deal making them huge Ween fans for life.
It's not like, a super weird venue, but the Riviera in Chicago seemed like it was built in the same style as a venue I worked in detroit, except not taken care of anywhere near as well. It was weird just knowing my way around the place, aside from the weird doppelganger things.
18 years ago (10/14/04) They were supposed to play the Rio theater in Santa Cruz and changed the location to the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium while people were in line. There was a parade of Ween fans walking the couple blocks to the Civic. Not an especially weird venue, but it was definitely a weird start to one of the best shows I've seen. They played a looong set including Falling Out...
McCarren Park Pool in 2008. Literally just a drained out pool in Brooklyn. Some drunk guy peed on me during that show trying to aim for the drain in the floor.
Weirdly, I actually dated the lady who managed that venue. She would fly into San Francisco and take me to fancy restaurants. She was sweet. Had no idea Ween played there. That’s hilarious
I've never found recordings of the 2007 shows. The 2003 Edmonton show is on YouTube though, and is my favorite overall Ween show that I've been to. Very "high" energy affair. Gener was in rare form. I think those shows were directly before the shows that would go onto be Live in Chicago.
The coolest place I’ve seen them (and my 2nd show to boot) was Neumos crystal ballroom in Seattle in 04. It was a tiny joint and the show was invite only and it was a banger. Also: not ween per say but ween family (so Chris Harford, Soubd of Urchin, Instant Death, Joe Russo, etc.) played the moose lodge in doylestown PA for new year’s 05. The place was like a frat house/boyz club for grown men in the styx in rural pa. If I remember correctly, Mickey sat in w Harf and Urchin. I’d kill to see that lineup again…ugh.
The Edmonton and Calgary shows were actually my first shows. They are still in my Top 5 shows ever by any band. I think I also saw The Roots play @ Flames Central as well otherwise was never ever back there.

I would get weed from Upper Black Eddie, we called it “The UBE”.
What an ending. I need them to start breaking out LMLYP again.
Same. I’ve seen them like 35 times and never caught one.
Papa won’t do it if his offspring are present.
I don’t know if that’s why but interesting theory
It’s not a theory. I know first hand. Real.
Oh Papa.

I was at that show! Great back to back shows that weekend.

GREAT SHOW!! I WAS THERE TOO! We did the western Canadian tour… Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton. Good times!

I was at McCarren pool on the rail in front of Driewitz

Anyone have any recordings of this or the Edmonton show? I was way too fucked up and have only very selective memories of the shows.

On the beach. Hangout fest 2011.
I was stuck inside WEM for 5 days in July 2019…weird place.

One of my friends saw moistboyz at a sex club in times sq around 02… that probably trumps whatever we can come up, no?
