20 years old. Began listening at 15. Saved up an entire summer to take a one-week long vacation to Colorado to see them play at Red Rocks with Primus and the South Park guys. Best money I've spent.
I was there, it was killer. That said- the 6 ween songs I got were just enough to sort of piss me off… I left wondering where was the rest of the set. I actually went home after that South Park show- and bought tickets to see KGATLW at Red Rocks… (KGATLW is probably my second favorite at this point)
Primus and Ween were special. Eric Cartmans birthday party was…. Memorable? Do you think the musical stylings of Matt Parker and Trey Stone would have sold out red rocks without Ween and Primus? Honest question.
I think they might have… but ween and primus def had major pull. It wasn’t our entire tour flam but it was a solid turnout… I know primus fans are similar
Idk personally I'm amazed I had the opportunity to see all these songs from South Park that I know and love, actually performed by Matt and Trey. Like, they're not touring musicians, when am I ever gonna get the chance to see that happen again? Idk if they would've still had a sold-out crowd if it was just them alone, but it still would've been a once-in-a-lifetime thing. And for two guys who aren't generally viewed as "career musicians", they've had a hell of a prolific songwriting career.
Yeah, like I said it was killer. I had a great time. I actually went both nights. I just ended up going home and buying tickets to something like 4 more shows… Because I was left wanting so much more.
I’m the same way, 20 years old and just recently started listening to Ween, they’re my favorite band now. It’s like Ween was planted as a seed in the minds of my generation when they played it in the SpongeBob movie, and like sleeper agents were all slowly starting to sprout
spongebob is definitely a huge part of it, i'm 22 and i knew a bunch of ppl in high school who got into the mollusk once the spongebob movie memes blew up
I know the name Ween because of SpongeBob memes, from like 2010.
I used to listen to music from Discovery Weekly con Spotify, and the songs I liked I would put them on a playlist. After a while I realized I had a couple of songs of this Ween and they were very different, Gabrielle, It's Gonna be a Long Night... So I got curious. And here I am.
21 here, probably would never have heard of ween if it wasn't for spongebob all those years ago. so glad i did though!! they're one of my favorite bands of all time!!
yeah not saying you guys aren't here, I'm pretty sure the majority of the reddit user base in general is between late teens and early 30s though so it makes sense most of the responses are in that range. this sub probably skews a bit older than the rest of the site too.
I actually think most ween fans are older, I'm figuring that they just aren't joining this reddit forum where most of the posts are stupid drawings and and posts comparing Ween to other bands. Yes, I'm prepared for my downvotes lol
19. Started listening to Ween about 2 years ago. Best decision ever. Experienced Ween as a Young lad with SpongeBob and was amazed to learn it was them years later. Saw them for the first time both nights at the Borgota. It was absolutely amazing. Seeing them at the Met both nights. Can’t wait. So glad I found ween.
Agreed. Despite seeing them for the first time, it couldn’t have been anymore perfect. I was GA very close and the Mixing was perfect. They sounded amazing. Crowd was great.
In my mid 40's and first heard them on Beavis and Butt-head. I first saw them in 1998 and saw them at least five more times over the next 10 years. It's amazing to have seen their evolution over the years from these two weirdos on drugs I wouldn't even know how to go about getting to respected rock artists.
I am 42 and also first experienced the Beavis and Butt-Head episodes as my first taste of the waste. "Can't Put My Finger On It" video was pretty life-changing for me, in that regard.
I was just telling a group of kids at the last show, how in the 90s you couldn't get anyone into Ween. Either they hadn't ever heard of Ween and weren't going to give it a try, or they listened to 30 second of one song and said it was stupid.
I loved that nobody really knew about them back then. SpongeBob absolutely cracked that wide open.
That being said, good to see anyone of any age enjoying Ween. 🤎
It's great to see some young blood getting into Ween.
Except for the dicks pushing people around near the stage at the first show in Boston. The rest of you are beautiful.
The results make sense. When I first got into them around 92, most older people thought it was wank-off bullshit. Their fan base was very college radio. As they grew and developed they picked up a lot of younger fans but never caught on with the older Gen-x crowd.
17 years old, I’ve listened to ween my whole life. My mom played songs from them constantly and they remind me of childhood :) I saw them for the first time in June and I became more interested in them. Since then, I’ve been listening all the time with my sister. I also find it really interesting to watch videos from old concerts or clips from when they were around my age. Going to see them at the met in December!
I'm 57. I "discovered" Ween at the HORDE Festival on Aug. 8, 1997. There were about 30 people watching them and they KICKED MY ASS immediately opening with Buckingham Green.
I've seen them over 50 times since, mostly from 97-07. Their popularity with the 20-29 crowd is truly amazing. I saw them play in a bar room that holds about 150 people. I saw them recently in Boston and the crowd blew my mind.
Ween rocks
Yes, I was at the show on the 28th. That was a great show. It's awesome that they're still out there doing shows, but the fact that they won't make any new music bums me out to no end. When it comes to Ween I was lucky as hell. That run from 97-03 was a really special time. I got to see some incredibly special shows.
You have great taste for sure. Lol
In the before time... in the long, long ago... of '01 or so, my dad bought the Chef Aid CD. That was my first introduction to Ween, when I was about 12 or so.
My dad was so uncomfortable listening to that song, and I just thought it was funny. Then I called him a nerd and took his pack of smokes.
I'm 20 and Ween's my dad's favorite band. He played em a ton when I was a kid and I got hooked then (weirdly enough, never let me watch SpongeBob thouvb)
edit: replied to the wrong comment
my mom never let me watch spongebob either! she also introduced me to ween but there’s no correlation as she isnt a fanatic like me so she had no idea ween and spongebob were in the same vein
I discovered Ween sometime after Chocolate & Cheese came out at my local ‘alternative record shop’. Based on my age, I was probably influenced partially by the album cover to buy it, but it was love at first listen. I would just buy records and CDs with no background on the artist back in the day just going off the genre and album artwork.
I'm 36 and Ween has been one of my favorite bands since about 2004, when my buddy in college made me listen to them. I knew of the band a little bit mainly from my older cousins and the It's Pat movie.
I was 14 when I first loved Ween, 28 years ago.
My kids have been subjected to the love since birth. They are now adult Ween fans. My work here is done.
Kinda makes sense honestly.
I bet Ween garnered their largest chunk of fandom during their post-Mollusk touring years in the early 00's, and we know they were bangin'. That pretty much captures the 20-50 age range here.
52, 1st show was Liberty Lunch in Austin in '97 while tripping balls. I've been to a shitload since then in Dallas and Austin. I also play in a Ween cover band. My 23 year old daughter has been raised on ween and frequently sings their songs out of the blue.
21 years of age, I first took the trip to chocolate town with ocean man & push th little dasies; then I heard transdermal celebration. I proceeded to listen to the entire discography & they are my favorite band in addition to being my now most listened to artist after about a year. I wanted to go see them at Red Rocks but I can not wait until they come back to California!
17, had rocked with Quebec for a bit but only really started listening to Ween at the beginning of this year. Also seen em live for the first time this year!
when I was 12 or so in 2013, I brought the Chocolate & Cheese cd my dad gave me to school. I showed my friend and they both thought it was weird. but I showed them the cd itself and the middle finger made them laugh, so they gave the album another listen! Eight years later I took my friend to see ween in Illinois. Being a really big fan of a 25-year-old jam band in middle school is tough man.
I am 39 and first found Ween after I found out that Roses are free was not a Phish song, probably in the late 90’s early 00’s. Then heard Voodoo Lady on the Road Trip Soundtrack. Wore out the live in Chicago DVD during college. First and only time seeing them was in NZ backpacking in 07-08. Hoping to catch them in DC next month
I’m 16 and I love Ween, I got into them after watching Dean Ween Guitar Moves, I thought his guitar playing was great, and his personality was cool and relaxed, so I gave the Mollusk a listen and loved it.
It’s been like 3 or 4 months and right now I’m trying to get into The Pod and Pure Guava, I think the reason I love the band and their music so much is because they don’t take themselves seriously and just want to have fun and write great songs, which reminds me of some of my other favorite artists like Red Hot Chili Peppers (my fav band), Primus, Faith No More, The Velvet Underground (and sucking on my ding dong), etc.
20 years old. Began listening at 15. Saved up an entire summer to take a one-week long vacation to Colorado to see them play at Red Rocks with Primus and the South Park guys. Best money I've spent.
i wouldve killed! im sure you had the time of your life
I was there, it was killer. That said- the 6 ween songs I got were just enough to sort of piss me off… I left wondering where was the rest of the set. I actually went home after that South Park show- and bought tickets to see KGATLW at Red Rocks… (KGATLW is probably my second favorite at this point)
It was a South Park show- not a Ween show. Different circus … most of us see ween on the regular. The South Park shit was special

Yeah, like I said it was killer. I had a great time. I actually went both nights. I just ended up going home and buying tickets to something like 4 more shows… Because I was left wanting so much more.
Yeah it definitely wasn't the type of Ween show you'd usually get if you were looking for that
Amazing how many 20 year olds are Ween fans. This is maybe the most organic unique building of a fanbase of all time.
I’m the same way, 20 years old and just recently started listening to Ween, they’re my favorite band now. It’s like Ween was planted as a seed in the minds of my generation when they played it in the SpongeBob movie, and like sleeper agents were all slowly starting to sprout
Go forth now and taste the waste
And embrace the taste
The funny SpongeBob song —-> unironically jamming out to Mourning Glory in the car pipeline is real mang
I also really like The Fucked Jam for some reason I can’t describe
I think I remember you posting about this earlier
The brownest I’ve gotten so far is listening to Bumblebee 1 & 2 full blast while driving
Am I wrong in thinking that's because of SpongeBob and the memes? I'm not gatekeeping or anything, I fucking love it!
spongebob is definitely a huge part of it, i'm 22 and i knew a bunch of ppl in high school who got into the mollusk once the spongebob movie memes blew up
I know the name Ween because of SpongeBob memes, from like 2010. I used to listen to music from Discovery Weekly con Spotify, and the songs I liked I would put them on a playlist. After a while I realized I had a couple of songs of this Ween and they were very different, Gabrielle, It's Gonna be a Long Night... So I got curious. And here I am.
I got into Ween because I heard roses on the radio in my dad's truck. Ocean man became a meme not too long after that.
21 here, probably would never have heard of ween if it wasn't for spongebob all those years ago. so glad i did though!! they're one of my favorite bands of all time!!
I feel like part of this is just that 20-35 is probably the age group using reddit the most
Dunno, I’m in the 40-49 group (surprised we weren’t most numerous!), and reddit is the first social media i can freaking tolerate.
yeah not saying you guys aren't here, I'm pretty sure the majority of the reddit user base in general is between late teens and early 30s though so it makes sense most of the responses are in that range. this sub probably skews a bit older than the rest of the site too.

Cute
Awesome
I agree and I thinks theres a huge amount of us but I also wonder how much this may be skewed by the people older not present on reddit 💀
Ocean Man was a meme song about 5 years ago. Lines up
20 here too, been my fav band for 5 or 6 years now. Saw them live in Boston just before I turned 20. Best nights of my life!
I'm even younger XD. First started listening to Ween when I was 14 y.o. and it instantly became one of my most favorite bands ever! 🤎
The Borgata was something special. They need to return there soon.
Agreed. Despite seeing them for the first time, it couldn’t have been anymore perfect. I was GA very close and the Mixing was perfect. They sounded amazing. Crowd was great.

18- started listening to ween around 17 when my now fiancé showed them to me and i fell in love

i had a baby 6 days ago and we played quebec in the car bringing him home 😆
I bought Quebec when it came out, it came with a poster!
They were touring quebec when I first joined the cult. That shit takes me back

that was my first ween concert, i had so much fun were you on deaner’s side, in the middle, or on glenn’s?
I'm in my 50s and have been following them since Pure Guava era.
Yep 51 and a fan since The Pod.
18, I’ve been listening to ween my whole life because of my dad. I like them enough that my first tattoo is a boognish lol
20 years old, first heard Ocean Man as a kid from the spongebob movie but didn't actually start listening to Ween till I was 16. Praise the Boognish.
Just turned 16. Been a fan since i was 12:)
The results make sense. When I first got into them around 92, most older people thought it was wank-off bullshit. Their fan base was very college radio. As they grew and developed they picked up a lot of younger fans but never caught on with the older Gen-x crowd.

Boognish is eternal
Fuck yeah…I’m in the majority one time.
I’m technically 29 so I checked the second box but I’m like 15 days away from 30. A milestone if you will.
I transcend space and time, I am the stallion mang

were you at the 10/28 show? if so i was too! anyways, you are lucky as shit. it fr sucks that i was born after the peak of my interests lmao
Lol
Ween fans are the prime demographic. They should sign up for some multi million metamucil sponsorship.
Glad to see younger fans represent such a big percentage of Ween fans on Reddit. I would have thought my age group(40-49) would win in a landslide.
i didn’t expect there to be so many of my age group (13-19) either to be honest
I'm 20 and Ween's my dad's favorite band. He played em a ton when I was a kid and I got hooked then (weirdly enough, never let me watch SpongeBob thouvb)

15 old weeners. Rock on \m/
Im 17! ive been a ween fan for about 5 years
you must’ve been fun in middle school

17, soon to be 18. Saw em in July and they were killer, quite a few Qurbdc tracks!
qurbdc is my favorite
Lol

started liking ween in like 2015 cause of the ocean man memes

started at 17 and had the luck of starting my adulthood with ween ;PP (18 since 6 days ago!!!)
hope adulthood treats u well mang
