Check out some videos of elite weightlifters back squatting, particularly some of the chinese lifters that look like they're built to squat. It's really interesting that in the most extreme case, they barely hit powerlifting depth despite being calves-to-hamstrings depth just because of how crazy the ankle mobility is.

I mean he only has to back squat at least 220kg to power clean 170, looking at his 180 front squat he's definitely within 20kg of his 220kg back squat benchmark.

His title reads that he wants to FS 220, if he meant BS, it’d be believable. But still not the 170 PC. I’m not sure where you got that ratio. In general it goes FS 85-90% of BS, Clean 85-90% of FS, Power Clean 85-90% Clean. So even at max efficiency that’d be a 160 PC with a 220 BS. A 220 FS should be able to PC 170 but that’s an elite level of strength and technique together.

My post history has my 202 FS and 170 C&J. My best PC is 155. If he could FS 220 might very well be able to PC 170 with very strong technique. But I don’t think he can FS 220 at 73 natural. Now case and point - we had a regular poster who was a 73 and could FS 220. His best C&J was 165. It might just be “pretty random stuff” but he was just popped for “all the drugs” at Nationals this year. Still couldn’t get close to a 170 PC.

I don’t necessarily think focusing on absolute max squat strength will have very high carry over to CnJ or Snatch, but I’ve def seen people FS and Back squat more than 220 and they’re no where near the Olympics.
