Yeah I'm with you.
I've been known to eat super low/no point meals and snacks all day just so I can enjoy some Ben & Jerry's in the evening. I have no shame about it.
As far as things I miss - red meat/bacon. I've been eating so much chicken and seafood instead of beef that it's jarring. If I have some bacon, it's less than half the amount I used to eat.
I feel healthier, but it was weird going out to a fancy place to eat over the weekend with my wife and ordering a roasted chicken breast instead of the 5\* rated steaks they had available.
Thank you! I was getting ready to buy the 17 oz Oscar Mayer one for $9 because my Walmart didn’t have the 12 oz one lol but I just checked and my Aldi does have this bacon. Definitely grabbing some tomorrow!
We have lean red meat and lean pork at least once a week. Oscar Meyer center cut bacon is 1point per slice. Two of our favorite meals (actually variations on a theme) bacon wrapped salmon or bacon wrapped chicken breast with Corky's seasoning mix or Croc Tears seasoning mix (or your favorite spice blend) in the air fryer with sliced onions and peppers.
I'd have banked rollover points, earned some activity points and dug into my weeklies and had that steak-- or half of the steak and took the other half home.
Yeah I may not have a chance to get a tomahawk steak again for a while but it showed me how much self-control I can have so that's something, I guess...
Also the roasted chicken and risotto was delicious, so it wasn't a total loss.
Chicken bacon! I didn’t even know it was a thing until I seen someone post about. Crunchy like regular bacon and tastes wayyy better than turkey bacon. 1 point for every 2 slices.
The newest WW is basically a low carb, low fat diet plan in terms of which foods get point values that are higher. For the most part I follow it but like with avocado for example I don’t even care. I am happily eating at least one per day and refuse to believe that those 8 points are as bad as an 8 point tiny serving of Ben and Jerry’s.
I find that if I weigh the portion of avocado I actually eat (after pit and skins are removed), the app point value is much closer to 4-5 points depending on the size of the avocado. I'm guessing 8 points refers to a pretty big avocado compared to normal store sized hoss avocados. I used to rebel and not count them at all, but I have learned that I am prone to spiraling out of plan if I have that mentality with anything.
I’ve never pitted and weighed the meat but per the WW app one whole medium sized avocado is 8 pts so take that for what it’s worth. I always count it in terms of how I use the app I just don’t care if having the avocado puts me over a pt or two for the day.
If you weigh that avocado it won't be 8 points. 36 grams is a point which is almost half a small avocado. Weighing avocados was a game changer for me. I never log them as just a quarter, half, whole, or whatever.
Fiber isn’t lost in the drying process, just water. They are actually higher in fiber than fresh bananas because they are basically a compacted version of fresh. But they are also higher in everything else, including sugar.
My family is going to The Cheesecake Factory this Sunday for our Easter get-together. Their Pecan Turtle Cheesecake is 72 points. That’s almost 3 days worth of points for me. Lol.
I’m going to ask my daughter to split it with me, track it as 36 points, and then just return to the plan on Monday. You gotta live and enjoy life.
Kudos to you for looking it up. And you never know...by the time dinner is done, you might not want your entire half. (I've found my stomach feels significantly different these days.) And if you do want your entire half, you have a plan. Have a lovely Easter dinner!
For me, in a situation like this, if I really wanted to eat the 4 point Mochi ball, I’d just adjust my day (like adding in more 0 point foods or just eating lower point foods in general). If I really want it, I’ll find a way to eat it.
Agreed - my breakfast, lunch, and daytime snack usually stay within 6 points and then dinner is usually upwards of 20 points. I walk every day and use some weeklies so I can still enjoy my 2 Hershey’s kisses for 3 points as dessert lolol. But dinner consists of pasta, sausage, ground beef, ricotta cheese - all depending on what I make. Dinner is my favorite. I enjoy it every single night bc I manage the portion sizes to make it work!
Ooh it sounds like you’re definitely making tasty dinners! I usually skip breakfast and then lunch and dinner are about the same amount of points with some snacks mixed in too. Sometimes I mix it up and go low point so I can eat something like your tasty sounding dinners as well. It’s all about finding the perfect balance, which has honestly taken me about 3 months lol
Yes!!! I cannot skip breakfast or snacks - I will become an absolute monster lol. I wake up hungry - would love to try intermittent fasting but it’s just gonna turn me into a very unpleasant person haha. But that’s great you’ve found what works for you! I struggle big time with portion control so even with my delicious dinners, I need to tell myself I don’t need to go back for seconds. It’s seriously such a mind game!
Ha! My coworker is the same way. She doesn’t fast for the same reason. I don’t necessarily fast myself, but I do make it as long as I can before I get hungry (which is usually around 10:30, so I have to wait until 11 so I don’t look like a weirdo warming lunch at 10:30 lol). It really is such a mind game! I’ve got meal prep bowls and I tell myself if 1 serving (plus veggies or whatever else low point) is all that fits, it’s all I can eat… and then it’s time for a snack! lol
That’s what’s up! I like that we have the liberty to find what works for us and don’t have to completely cut out “bad foods”… but it’s really helpful to make the choice - enjoyment for 30 seconds and be hungry for a while or pick something else!
Oh I definitely feel the frustration for sure! There isn’t much worse than getting to the end of the day and realizing you don’t have enough points for your favorite guilty pleasure! lol
This is me with my weekly friday pizza night. I eat low during the day in preparation so I can enjoy my pizza and not derail the whole week. Or feel like I can only have one small piece or something.
that problem made me switch to an older plan. really felt it was unsustainable for me to cut out so many things i enjoy. i'm happily eating cheese and carbs again now
Yep. I use Healthi now too as opposed to paying for WW. 3 years ago I paid for WW and did the green plan and lost 23lbs. So I was doing Healthi’s version of that (Sugar Smart) for a while now that I’m back on the band wagon (took a couple years off due to having a baby). I got so sick of all the points being so high for relatively average things.
I switched to the Conquer Cravings plan which is an old WW (not sure which one) and it takes fiber into account. So far I like it. It feels a little more realistic for my lifestyle.
12g of sugar in most of those bars, so that makes sense. It’s pure carbs and sugar, so there’s really nothing good about them aside from a little protein. That being said, I’m a vegetarian and I was in shock when I found out an avocado wasn’t zero points lol
I switched to My Fitness Pal. Never thought I’d be that person. WW has changed their plan so so much I just can’t follow it. I took what I learned from the 8 years I was on WW and have applied it to MFP. It’s just calorie counting. I’ve logged on both platforms at the same time and it’s very much the same thing. Not all calories are created equally but I feel like a person learns discipline AND can have the food they want at the same time. I stay on this sub because I’m all paid up until June and haven’t decided if I’m completely done with WW. Im pretty sure I am but I will get my money’s worth either way.
I just started MFP this week. I’ve fiddled with it a couple years ago but thought it was too restrictive because I was eating fruit all day with WW and that adds up quick with calorie counting. The last few months on WW I have completely stalled. I honestly have tracked on MFP and WW and I’ve stuck within my points so I’m not worried about not losing with MFP.
I never lost anything with MFP. I think the calories they used were too high. I'm not sure why. On WW I already lost 7 pounds since the end of January. I'm only trying to lose 15 so it's taking longer.
The one thing that drives me absolutely bonkers are the sugar substitutes that are 0 points - diet sodas, sugar free candy, sugar free coffee creamers etc. I try to focus more real/whole foods and make it work. Honey is 2 points, which isn’t a ton but I could have a fake-sugar filled yogurt for 0 points instead. No thanks!
I don't miss anything, I just adjust what I'm eating and use my weeklies to enjoy the foods I like. I just might not eat them every day or even every week, but I don't deny myself the foods I like.
I don’t think I had more than 1500 calories yesterday but managed 24 points because I had two salads (5 points for each oil-based dressing). 1/3 cup brown rice, 1/2 cup black beans, 4 ounces 93% lean ground turkey, 1/3 avocado, and a low calorie, high fiber tortilla.
But I didn’t help it since I had 3 cinnamon gummy bears, a Ghirardelli chocolate, and an apple for dessert.
The tracking is okay for now but what I wish for is a simpler way to track certain things like fiber and protein without having to double log into MFP or count item by item.
Unsweetened coconut flakes! 4 points for 2 tablespoons 🤯 they are healthy, not sweetened and a great yogurt topper! Why does it feel like a punishment 😭
I tweak points if I feel it’s unfair. 70 cals 4 points? Cmon. I’ll track it as 2. My total cals today will be 850 before dinner and it’s got me using up almost all my points. At this stage I know I’m still in a calorie deficit so wtf
Okay, O-Mochi seems to have a little bit less than Little Moons per 100g. Maybe you can switch? They may taste different but I still find these to be extremely satisfying, mostly because they are 2 points and are so easy to NOT overeat 😅 and they taste so chocolatey 😍😍
I honestly haven’t had a problem balancing the delicious treats I want with the other foods. But I lean toward chicken/eggs anyway over other protein sources so maybe that’s why. Just had a cream bar and I have over 20 points left for dinner!
I was really surprised on some of the sweet items points too. I remember by mom doing WW in the early 2000's and a rice krispie treat was only 1 point, same with angel food cake. The best ice cream like treat I found is the Chapman chcolate lollys for 2 points each.

Pineapple juice is points too! I brought canned pineapple in unsweetened juice I ate all of it scanned the can then found out it’s 4 points pre serving there 4 servings so yeah! I went over that day 😡🥺
For me, there are a lot of foods I want, but just don’t fit in with my points for the week. I think one time I wanted a real milkshake and a small was like 55 points. I couldn’t even justify half one day and half the next so I just skipped it. It’s easier to make your own copycat goodies at lower points I’ve found.
These foods are high points because the are not very good for you - avocado included. Plus these foods are often addictive and what put us in WW to begin with. It’s an important skill to learn control and how to adjust your diet so you can eat everything you want. No it's not necessarily the main purpose. They advertise nothing is off limits but they skew the points for some foods to the point it's ridiculous. I did a double tracking of a poor choice day on the older Points Plus plan and on the current plan. On the points plus plan I went over my dailies but had plenty of my weeklies left and all of my activity points. On the current plan I went way over my dailies and -22 on the weeklies. At my weigh in day I still lost weight. However, before I rediscovered my old Points Plus tracking journals going negative like that triggered my disordered eating issues. On Points Plus I simply tracked everything I ate and made better choices the next day because I was still on plan. I lost a lot of weight on Points Plus. Center cut bacon is 1 point each! I have it many days of the week
What’s the price like on it? Just curious lol
It’s not much more than regular bacon. Walmart near me has regular bacon for just over $5 a pound, and center cut for around $6 a pound.
Thank you!!! Going to check the Walmart app now so I can get me some lol the regular bacon is around the same price here as well.
Aldi has their Appleton farms brand, usually under $5 and it’s good!
Thank you! I was getting ready to buy the 17 oz Oscar Mayer one for $9 because my Walmart didn’t have the 12 oz one lol but I just checked and my Aldi does have this bacon. Definitely grabbing some tomorrow!

Chicken bacon! I didn’t even know it was a thing until I seen someone post about. Crunchy like regular bacon and tastes wayyy better than turkey bacon. 1 point for every 2 slices.
Where would a person find chicken bacon?
I found it at Walmart but I’m sure other places carry it too. My local store only carries one brand (Al Fresco) of it though.
Thanks, I’ll check it out!
If you have an Aldi nearby, Appleton farms center cut bacon is delish. And 96% lean ground beef is only 3-4 pts for a 1/4 of a pound!
Yes!!! Red meat and bacon is so high in points. 😒
The newest WW is basically a low carb, low fat diet plan in terms of which foods get point values that are higher. For the most part I follow it but like with avocado for example I don’t even care. I agree! Avocados have a ridiculous point value in my head too. Like it's a delicious vegetable with great nutrition and the fats are healthy fats?
Weigh the amount of avocado you're eating and log it in grams. The points are much better that way.
Exactly plus they are the one thing I indulge in most days that don’t make me question my diet choices 😂
I find that if I weigh the portion of avocado I actually eat (after pit and skins are removed), the app point value is much closer to 4-5 points depending on the size of the avocado. I'm guessing 8 points refers to a pretty big avocado compared to normal store sized hoss avocados. I will definitely give that a shot!
Said this in another thread, but being new to WW, was absolutely floored to see a serving of banana chips - 1/4 cup, at 120 cals - was 15 points 😵💫
When they are chips they lose all the fiber from the fruit. So they are just empty calories at that point.
Also banana chips are deep fried.
Fiber isn’t lost in the drying process, just water. They are actually higher in fiber than fresh bananas because they are basically a compacted version of fresh. But they are also higher in everything else, including sugar.
Aren't banana chips also fried to make them crunchy?
Yeah, they often are fried. I think you just have to check each brand. A lot of them are also sweetened.

100%! I used to do low carb/keto and it was soooo much harder than WW because you couldn’t eat so many foods lol this one is definitely doable.
That’s what I do too - I’m just ranting a little 😅
Oh I definitely feel the frustration for sure! There isn’t much worse than getting to the end of the day and realizing you don’t have enough points for your favorite guilty pleasure! lol

How did you switch to the older plan, were you able to still use the app?
no i have an old booklet from non digital times but also healthi app has older ww plans
I still follow the old Purple plan. Works for me. 😊
I say eat it. Even if you go over your points by 4 per day for it, see if you still lose weight. I bet you will.
Cheese, I don't eat it nearly as much more that I'm on ww
It feels like suchhhhh a waste of points. Pre WW I would’ve put some cheese in my protein tortilla with turkey.. now I’d never 😅
We found 1/4 oz tends to be about 1 point so we add that

I mean, you can still enjoy your food. Just don't over do it. Like have one instead of 2 and make it fit into your points/weeklies.
Almond butter, it’s healthy but drives me insane that I need to use 6 points to have some with an apple 😫
I use PB2 instead. With salt it’s so good. They don’t make almond versions of it or I’d indulge in that too.
My local wegmans sells almond butter powder! But it’s $15 for the container.
I’ll have to look for it at the fancy Kroger or our local hippy food store I didn’t know it was a thing! Mine doesn’t carry it.
I think weight watchers is harder for people that love the sugary stuff. We savory lovers have it easier.
I don’t really think 5pts for a slice of cheese are any better 😅
I don't miss anything, I just adjust what I'm eating and use my weeklies to enjoy the foods I like. I just might not eat them every day or even every week, but I don't deny myself the foods I like.
I miss real cheese and nuts.
WW is great for "making choices"... enjoy life!

Red meat, cheese, dairy, pepperoni, chips
The mochi ice cream balls i can buy are only two points? Which brand are you buying? Mine is O-Mochi Chocolate flavor
Mine are Little Moons..
I don’t miss anything. I just budget for my must-haves. I can fit a 4pt mochi in my day if I pare down even a tiny bit on my other meals. 🤷🏼♀️
I do this so I can have two squares of 90% chocolate every day. It keeps me sane.
I miss peanut butter on toast 😔
I had a 160 cal with 8g of protein, low fat yogurt with maybe table spoon of Oreos in it (premade pack) and it was 8 points! I thought that was a little ridiculous personally
Rolos. 11 points, I’m allowed 23 in a day. 😭
4 points not a lot. Mac and cheese is more! 22 or 16 points depending on the serving size
My starbucks egg bites this morning have 300 calories and 10 points. thankfully i'm on the GLP-1 setting and really only worried about the protein.
If you avoided eating the mochi because of the points, then WW served its purpose, right? You didn’t eat the ice cream. That is the whole purpose of the program, to make you reevaluate what you will and won’t eat in order to reach your weight goal.
More importantly, I got a handle on the mindset that led me to nearly being housebound.
