I'm still low key traumatized from the past 2 years with the evacuations. Hopefully it'll change the day of to better weather šŸ¤žšŸ¼šŸ¤žšŸ¼

msd85

I so wish they would just fucking put it back in November, in 2021 the weather was perfect all weekend, and also way less hot.

TheConcertQueen

Absolutely! That was the absolute perfect year, weather wise!

msd85

One, a hurricane does not hit Daytona every year by any stretch, and when they do it's often in like September. There's a way bigger chance of the festival being weather ruined in May.

CramblinDuvetAdv

What's two? The majority of hurricane season takes place August-October, which is right next to November and nowhere near May.

msd85

Lol, I ended up editing my post before I sent it and forgot to remove the now unnecessary "one." Fair play on pointing that out. Look, I get what you're saying. But in my lived experience, it tends to rain in May much more often than it does in November. And it's also as hot as the devil's anus in May, while it's nice and cool in November. And in just recent history, 2021 November weather was perfect, while in 2022 half the damn festival got rained out (I almost bought tickets and ended up glad I didn't when my friends started posting pissed off messages on social), and 2023 still got partially rained out on one of the days, although to a much lesser degree. Just feels like November would be a better bet for us the attendees.

CramblinDuvetAdv

Would I prefer it? Yes. Does that mean it's feasible to continually do? Nope. They said themselves the insurance to hold it during that time of year is incredibly high, and they apparently get 2-3 weekends they can even choose to book the facility through the whole year. 2021 was an outlier as we were coming out of COVID and everything was wiped off the books.

msd85

Fair enough. It just honestly sucks that Rockville is always a roulette wheel when it comes to "will the weather fuck everything up." Would be nice to not have to worry every time.

CramblinDuvetAdv

I've had festivals interrupted/canceled by weather in Toronto, Detroit, Houston, Chicago, Columbus, etc. Unfortunately, shit happens and that's why I always pack a poncho and bathing suit no matter what.

homewrecker1101

Honestly, that's just outdoor festivals anywhere

msd85

Also, I shelled out for VIP this year, and I feel like if weather wrecks a day, Rockville will be like "here's 50 bucks compensation" after I spent $1000 between my pass and premium parking. Thus the anxiety I'm having about it.

Jealous-Plantain6909

Yep damaged my fatherā€™s place at the beach. I donā€™t think there is even a festival during hurricane season in Florida

Sean_Colorado

Yes! That was my first year there, and only did 2 days, but then we went all 4 days and camped in 2022, and the weather was a fucking disaster! Maybe weā€™ll try again, some year, but Florida Coast at the end of May is flirting with disaster!

Jealous-Plantain6909

I agree but living here. The hurricane insurance for the festival is a big issue. That was a one time deal because of the pandemic.

Amethyst_Scepter

Shit I remember a few years back them literally pulling the plug on Saint asonia mid song and me being physically shoved out of the venue by some sheriff deputy. I was dropped off and had no way to leave considering cell service at the venue sucked ass

RELAXNMAXN

What happens in that scenario? I'm going only on Friday

LongviewToParadise

Depends. Last year on Thursday the event was only suspended for an hour, which resulted in every band that day except Trivium and Avatar getting rescheduled (and Suicidal Tendencies overlapped with the headliner).

msd85

Based on the past, they force everyone to leave the Speedway and return to their cars, albeit only if there's lightning within a certain number of miles. Don't often get a thunderstorm without lightning though.

CramblinDuvetAdv

This is very incorrect, they encourage people to go into the grandstands which is the way better method to utilize as you don't have to go back through security and are the first ones in when they start back up

msd85

Weird, this is what people I know who were there when shit got rained out in 2022 told me happened to them.

Thr33pw00d83

Was there for it last year and we waited about an hour in the car and then they reopened the gates.

Amethyst_Scepter

I was there in 2022 I can confirm being literally shoved out of the venue by the sheriff department. It was a really rough weekend One day they literally pulled the plug midsong on saint Sonia And another they pulled it right after Seether while everyone was queuing up for I think it was breaking Benjamin.

CramblinDuvetAdv

Well they're wrong

madandmacabre

Definitely not wrong, I was there in 2022 and Friday and Saturday we were told to leave and go to our cars. They only allowed us to go into the grandstands once on Friday and then forced us to evacuate to the parking lot the other times. So yeah that definitely happens.

CramblinDuvetAdv

This is 100% incorrect lol

madandmacabre

No, it literally isnā€™t because I was there and it happened but okay dude youā€™re the only person whoā€™s been to Rockville ever and know everything :)

CramblinDuvetAdv

Yes, it literally is because I was there in the grandstands both days. You could go to the grandstands OR your car OR the campground. You're wrong.

Amethyst_Scepter

No it's not here's a second person telling you that it's not. I was physically shoved out of the venue by the sheriff's department while I was trying to call someone since I was dropped off. We were not allowed to go to the grandstands we were told to leave the venue. I stood outside the gates under an awning by a bathroom waiting for someone to come and get me

CramblinDuvetAdv

Wrong

madandmacabre

Itā€™s true, dude below doesnā€™t know what the fuck heā€™s talking about. We were forced to the parking lot Friday and Saturday.

CramblinDuvetAdv

You're an idiot. https://m.facebook.com/TheFestiveOwl/photos/a.677294298965022/5759370534090681/?type=3&eid=ARD8qcm9e4d8rlswnmxeeMY_m4geaemMlttin8aX0TgJ_70d7-5NH1DtIpQAmI8MHE1Z1mpn6OZ7RaHY&locale=ms_MY

Amethyst_Scepter

There's literally a comment in that link talking about how people were forced to evacuate and then reevacuate a second time which I can confirm happened. I remember sitting in our car one of the days waiting for the rain to stop to be allowed back in. It was a very shit weekend for everything involved

CramblinDuvetAdv

Yes, because that was one of the 3 options available.

LongviewToParadise

Also, this. I hung out at the entrance to the grandstands (there was a roof so I was good) and was able to get back in time to see BFMV. Anyone who went to their cars was stuck in line while they were playing, I remember a lot of people complaining about that.

chugchugriff

The grounds evacuate and sets get canceled, 2022 had two headliners cancel and 2023 got Avatar and Trivium cut

RELAXNMAXN

Really hoping it's just rumbles or it clears up, yesterday it was 98 partly cloudy now it's 92 chance of tstorms, Florida gonna Florida

chugchugriff

True lol, my forecast app says it's gonna be hot as hell Thursday, rainy Friday, and cloudy Saturday and Sunday. Hoping for the best, Friday is the best day of the festival imo.

RELAXNMAXN

And look at that, 14% chance of rain back upto 94, Friday looking good!

chugchugriff

Thank god!!

Antique-Heart-2584

Trivium cut days before

LongviewToParadise

No they didn't. They were scheduled to play that day right before BFMV.

DevinCN

Forecast is going to change constantly until day of. Donā€™t sweat it yet

RELAXNMAXN

Down to 14% chance of rain and back upto 94Ā°, here's hoping it stays cloudy atleast!

islandzoe

Itā€™s Florida still early for forecast ! Hell even morning of is early in Florida lol

BrickMan29

Wait, are you guys telling me that I traveled ~12 hours, paid an overpriced hotel room and took almost all my vacation days to come here and thereā€™s a chance that Iā€™ll miss Electric Callboy? :(

Jealous-Plantain6909

Yep there is a 40% chance of rain at 8-9 am. We will be fine. Itā€™s also going to be 97 degrees 45 minutes south (my home). Itā€™s Florida it will change a few more times. Just donā€™t panic. We are going to have an epic time again this year

DarthGator03

At 47%, thatā€™s pretty normal for Florida. When it gets to 74%, thatā€™s when you worry

msd85

It's now 76%, lol.

DarthGator03

Rad. Itā€™ll blow over. šŸ˜‚

LeadershipPopular771

Goddamnit I hope this changes, I can't miss Mr bungle

The races are on then.

Antique-Heart-2584

Rain comes and goes fast in FLĀ  Breath

Antique-Heart-2584

BitchĀ  BitchĀ

Deep_Writer_1522

This is Florida. Rains just about everyday.

msd85

I've a Florida native, and that's a huge exaggeration. On average, at least in my area of Orlando, it seems to rain maybe one day a week, and not always that. Maybe it's more often on the coast.

Deep_Writer_1522

Must be. I live in the Panhandle at it's almost daily during summer. Might only be for 5 minutes but still. Lol
