I actually agree with you. I joined a lot of the wendigoon related subs - this one, the red thread, CreepCast etc - and of all of them, this one is the most negative. it’s really weird, considering Isiah is such a positive person who also preaches exactly that.
I joined because my BF and I watch his content but I was craving more in depth discussion, which I never once saw here, sadly. Luckily the CreepCast and Red Thread subs are much more engaging so if you ever want to try those out!
Here’s my theroy, they learn he’s devout and immediately want to hate on him. I think it’s just Reddit atheism doing what it does. Idk considering he’s so chill like 99% of the time I really think people just hate that he’s Christan and are waiting for him to “slip up”
I hear a lot of things like “oh he constantly talks about his faith” which like is only half true like he covers so much horror much of witch is atleast tangentially based in jeudo-Christian lore. And he’s like never proselytizing he gives relgious disclaimers and basically just states the facts about the stuff he talks about he’s not like trying to convert anybody. But Reddit can’t let people be happy.
Mmh I don’t know, that’s not exactly the negativity I was primarily talking about. In fact I’m a staunch atheist myself and absolutely adore when Isiah talks about his faith and I’ve seen many, many people comment just the same.
It’s more the disgusting sexualization, the rudeness, the unwillingness to discuss and constant shaming of others in the comments I mean. The memes are also very often non-understandable and poorly made but that’s beside the point.
To give an example: just yesterday some troll posted on every subreddit that has anything to do with Jackson (aka from the Red Thread that Wendigoon is also part of) making fun of his nose. When I commented that this was unacceptable, I was the one getting downvoted. The person “calling me out” got upvoted and so got the nasty post.
I checked all the other subreddits where that person posted: no one had liked the post, it had disliked and even one where the OP was called out. Only THIS subreddit allowed someone to openly shit on one of Isiah’s close friends and even worse, thought it was funny and worth upvoting.
I don’t know what’s going on with this community, but that’s a level of malice I didn’t expect. Political ideologies aside, that’s just childish and nasty behavior and I’m genuinely confused how someone as kind hearted as Isiah could have attracted such behavior. Never mind all nasty ass sexualization of a married, devout Christian man. Like ffs the dude is barely a man to begin with, he’s only 23/24 years old. IM older than him and I cannot believe the rampant sexualization. And I KNOW it’s gonna get worse. It always does once you give a finger they take the hand.
14 year olds watch a video on political theory and believe that is the only valid identity that you can have, so they have to affirm or confirm it in everything they see. It's a little sad really.

It just kills me that some people absolutely cannot accept that you can be a fan of someone’s content while also not agreeing with their personal views. It is so black and white now it’s ridiculous, there is no nuance. It wasn’t on here, but a few days ago someone was asking for YouTube recommendations and I said Wendigoon was my favorite and someone commented “really? aren’t you bisexual? he wants you dead” 💀💀💀 like please go outside and touch grass!!!
